Everybody from Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and Marco. We had everybody. JD, the whole group was just amazing. The president says other Middle Eastern nations will help reconstruct Gaza. The deal comes two years after the Hamas attack that killed more than 1,200 Israelis. Covered this story for more than seven years. You're not going to talk to me and talk over me because you don't want to hear what I have to say. Oh, I'm listening. So why don't you just keep your mouth shut? Ooh, we have the entire video, five minutes long, up on Facebook and on X. Meantime, another vote in the Senate fails. That would be the sixth time Democrats. could have kept things running and didn't. But the rhetoric continues, especially from Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, who is now being called out by none other than Stephen A. Smith. But how Jasmine Crockett chooses to express herself, I'm like, is that going to help your district in Texas? Aren't you there to find a way to get stuff done as opposed to just being an impediment to what Trump wants? That was Smith on a serious XM show. It's now 503. Thanks to President Trump, we have the most secure border since 1970. Illegal border crossings in fiscal year 2025 were at just over $237,000. Under Joe Biden in the previous fiscal four years, the average was $1.86 million. Meantime, another illegal alien caravan is moving north through Mexico, but this one's not coming here. Its final destination, Mexico City. Bob Price with Breitbart says this shows that deterrence works. The only thing that's going to stop the migrant crisis at the border is certain knowledge that if they cross the border illegally, they will be returned. They will not be admitted into the United States. And President Trump has demonstrated that that is the case. One woman in the caravan told reporters, quote, why would I want to go to the U.S.? They hate us there. 504, the Houston Chronicle reports that the majority of Harris County Commissioners' campaign dollars are coming from those people who get their contracts approved. Charles Blaine, president of urban reform, says this is how it works. Simply the fact that they're getting the money, I don't think is a problem because the average person isn't really too concerned about a commissioner's court race. They might be concerned enough to vote, but they're not going to be concerned enough to give. With that said, it's not a good look. It is legal. It looks dirty, and sometimes it is, but it's legal. The first victim apparently was in a relationship with the shooter. It continued at an auto shop in Southwest Houston where two people, possible witnesses were killed and ended when the gunman shot himself at a third location. Meantime, the city announces plans for a massive new homeless super hub just blocks away from Dyken Park. which is already dealing with a massive homeless population. You got baseball games are over all the time. And so why would they go there? Will they go there? Because they can get 30,000 potential people giving them a dollar each. That's quite a bit of money. I'll keep you going. So why do they go there? They go there because that's where the money is. Former Houston City Councilman Greg Travis. By the way, the city council punted on a vote yesterday to abandon Polk Street for a $2 billion expansion.

It involves a woman who ended up getting shot and killed because she didn't say thank you. What? Yeah, she didn't say thank you. So the other woman evidently felt disrespected and got into a big argument and she ended up shooting this woman who didn't say thank you. So we'll get into that a little bit later. But I'd like to start with this. You know, we have we have listeners and I appreciate you. I appreciate all of you. But we have some listeners who are what I would call the grammar police. I like everybody else every now and again, I will, you know. Throw a little grammar in there that just doesn't belong together. It just is a mess. And I apologize. If I do it today, I apologize right up front. But there is one thing, but I do understand it. I do understand why people who are into proper grammar really get upset or at least get aggravated when somebody misuses grammar. I feel the same way about definitions. I get upset when I see people who don't understand what a term means or misuse terms. And today, local media, local television has me upset for the use of the term road rage. You've heard about this shooting. We just had some of that in the newscast. I'll have more as the morning progresses on the story. But in a nutshell, what it seemed to happen was, is we had a woman shot...

on the freeway yesterday here in Houston. And then two mechanics ended up getting shot. And then the guy who shot the three people ended up shooting himself. And they described, all of them described the story as beginning with road rage. And the only reason I can assume that they went with the term road rage is because the shooting happens on a freeway. Well, just because a shooting happens on a freeway doesn't necessarily make it road rage. Road rage is aggressive or violent behavior by a driver that endangers others escalating upon beyond normal anger or frustration with traffic. You're upset about, you know, somebody tailgating, somebody speeding, somebody cutting you off so you're flipping the finger or you yell at them or maybe you do pull a weapon and shoot them, heaven forbid. That's road rage. This wasn't road rage. This was a target. The woman who was shot. was shot by a man she had a relationship with or maybe was breaking off a relationship with. This was a targeted assault. This is pure and simple murder. That's not what road rage is. Can we please not call something road rage when it's not road rage? We do that all the time here in Houston. I see media all the time reporting any shooting that occurs on the highways road rage. Sometimes it doesn't have anything to do with traffic. Sometimes it doesn't have anything to do with being angry about somebody else's driving. Sometimes somebody's a target for whatever reason. And when somebody gets shot on the freeway and there are a target that has nothing to do with their driving habits, it's not road rage, it's murder. 510 time for traffic and weathered together thank you like when i had this big fat communist ex-girlfriend that ran over me with a car that was not red rage that was just you know oh wow you just didn't like you i'll teach you to break up with me right yeah just like that okay okay i knock myself out i think i knocked myself out I hear you. It's a big storm for the whole East Coast that's going to be developing toward the end of the weekend and early next week. He gets arrested for child porn right away. right after this happened right away he's in jail for child porn why is that well now you can't interview him right right because when the internet people start going how do you how are you at all these different things like what are the odds like if someone ran it through one of the chat GPT perplexity things like what are the odds that this guy would be at all those different events and be involved like zero if you showed me that And you said, hey, this is my cousin's rifle. Is this any good? I'd be like, looks like a standard bolt action rifle, looks like a sophisticated modern scope on it. Sure. Now, apparently, the narrative is that this is his grandfather's rifle from World War I and doesn't have a serial code. Okay. Interesting. Okay. Why? Wait, wait, wait. So if you had a good gunsmith and he took a look at that, and the action was true, and, you know, the bore is good. you know yeah you could conceivably shoot with a gun for hundreds of years right guns don't they don't necessarily go bad right they don't expire right especially because all the stuff like the trigger and the action and all that different stuff is replaceable so you could just like it's compartmental arts it's components so if you can have a guy that's in the audience that's yelling i shot him now shoot me i shot him now shoot me and then that guy gets arrested for child porn charges like he's like what is what is going on here

And then you find this rifle and then you say, oh, he assembled it and he reassembled it. Like this guy, first of all, how did he get to the roof? How come nobody was looking? How come nobody was like there's a direct line of sight between where he's sitting and those roofs? You guys didn't check? You don't have a drone? Like, that's insane. So he's on the roof. He shoots. He jumps from the roof. He jumps down 14 feet. Yeah, we saw they had, didn't they have video of him jump? Somebody had a cell phone video of him jumping down. There's a video of him jumping. So this guy, whoever it is, jumps off of the roof and lands up whether or not he's even the guy who shot him. Maybe he thought he was going to shoot him. Maybe he's a patsy. Maybe he did it. I feel like he's a plant. Did you see the video? I don't know. The person doing the investigating on his mom's Facebook? No. You haven't seen this? Have you seen that, Jamie? Some dude online... It's got a weird Facebook, but I still coffee. It's very trippy. It doesn't make any sense. Like, the more they keep looking into it, the more they're like, this doesn't feel like a real... It feels super fabricated. Yeah, it never seemed to fit. It never seemed to fit. I think there's a whole lot more involved in the Charlie Kirk killing than we're ever going to be... According to new research, good guys with guns stopped as many as 62% of active shooter incidents. The FBI claimed that number was just 3.7%. The disparity between the FBI statistics and real-world numbers might not be an accident. There probably were some nefarious things happening within the FBI, possibly under the Biden administration, to support this ideology of tighter gun controls. Retired HPD captain, Dr. Greg Freeman, says these new numbers are a perfect example of why we need the Second Amendment. You have armed thugs. Some of them are operating independently or as organizations, and they're going around terrorizing. people. Thank God for people that step up. Freeman says it's critical to be both armed and properly trained in how to use a firearm. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. The new numbers come as three people were shot and killed across several locations across Houston yesterday. began in Sugarland, continued with two people killed in southwest Houston, and ended at a third location. Officers arrived at that location. They found the suspect inside the suspect vehicle, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot. According to our TV partner, the woman who was killed, the first victim was in some sort of relationship with the shooter no longer classified as road rage. Meantime, in Washington, a roundtable on Antifa. And the growing violence we see in liberal cities like This is not activism. It's anarchy. We can't and we will not let mask terrorists burn our buildings, attack our law enforcement, and intimidate our communities. Attorney General Pam Bondi, the president says he plans to designate Antifa as a foreign terrorist group. That roundtable was interrupted by the events in the Middle East, potential peace as a mosque will release all 20 remaining living Israeli hostages. The president has routinely said the deal in the Middle East is bigger than Gaza and called developments a great day for the Arab and Muslim worlds as well as Israel and all surrounding nations. The president signaled he did plan to travel to the Middle East as early as this weekend. According to Israeli sources, the president could address the Knesset in Israel on Sunday. That's Fox's Kevin Corkin. You'll hear from Trump at 6. 534, no end in sight to the government shutdown in day 9. another vote to reopen things failed in the Senate. I'm not sure there has ever been such a strong contrast between two political parties. The Republican parties delivering for the American people and the Democrats trying to make a show out of this. Now Speaker Mike Johnson with KTRH is Sean Hannity. President Trump says a standalone bill to pay military service members during the shutdown probably will happen. There are about 1.3 active duty military that could miss paychecks if this doesn't end.

Well, you know, I don't care what day or night it is. There are people who steal mail, and they are getting really good at stealing bank cards and ATM cards. And it's not even just the U.S. mail. I mean, first of all, I've stopped. Personally, I don't use the U.S. mail to send anything that is monetary in nature because I just, I, I, I've had too many problems. I think we probably all have at one time or another. But it always surprises me that when you sign up for a bank card, that they still send it through the mail. Now, some of them have gotten a little bit smarter and are sending it, you know, like a FedEx or UPS so that you have to sign for it. or so that they have proof it got delivered. But that just means that the people out there who want to steal your cards have to get a little bit smarter. There's now sophisticated crime rings that are turning your stolen mail into cold, hard cash. Here's how it works. You get a call or text from somebody impersonating your bank, told you have to act quickly because your account has been or is about to be compromised. But then the crooks take it a step further. You know, you order a new card, right? So they're ready to pounce when the new card arrives. They attempt to steal the mail that contains the new replacement debit card being sent by the bank to your home, regardless of how it's being sent there. Because once they interrupt the new debit card, the crooks can use the debit card to drain your account. And they're not just out there trying to steal paper checks. They're trying to figure out ways to steal debit cards for the mail. There was one scam in Detroit where these were all for new customers of Chase Bank. A guy from Chicago had a complex identity theft and financial fraud scheme targeting residents where they would figure out when your new card was going to be delivered. I know how they did it, but they did. And when the UPS driver pulled up... they would approach, they'd have one of their people approached the truck to intercept the package. You know, the sign for the package and take the package. Then they've got your card. And it never got to your door. So I don't know. How do we deliver these things in a way that is foolproof that nobody can steal it? Is there a way to do it? 540, time for traffic and weather together. This guy, Mike, what you got? I always laugh because you can tell who wrote the article based on the use of the term right-wing. You know, they always throw the wing in there. Joy has to talk about it and what it potentially means for CBS is Elizabeth Ames. She is an author, as you know, and also a contributor at Fox News. So I guess the assumption is because Bari Weiss, who's the editor-in-chief or is going to be the editor-in-chief as CBS News, is a former co-founder of the free press that that's the direction the CBS News is going to go. Do you think that's the direction? Hi, Jimmy. Thank you for having me. I think that she's going to move the CBS News away from the far left towards the Common Sense Center. And it's not going to be Fox News, but that's perfectly okay because, you know, it's a different audience. But, you know, she basically is really heterodox, is sort of the word for her. She mixes, you know, I subscribe to the free press. It's a superb publication. And I mean, I'm a paying subscriber. Would you describe it? Elizabeth, would you describe it as right wing? How would you describe the free press?

It has both sides, and it's not emotional. That's what I like about it. It has left and right-leaning writers, both. Quite a few names that you would know from the right-leaning online world. But also people from the left, people from the mainstream media. I mean, Mark Halperin, who was the former, he was on MSNBC's political, he was on CBS News, excuse me, ABC News as political director. He's on there sometimes. You've got Coleman Hughes, who's a terrific writer on race and other social issues. Matthew Contonetti of the American Enterprise Institute. She's got a lot of different names. Last night I watched the analysis of the mayoral race. It was superb. So she's going to bring intelligence and a mixed approach to the news. Everybody is proclaiming the people on the left predictably. or, you know, pearl clutching. This is going to be state media, you know, Trumpist and all that. And that's total baloney. Well, I thought it's kind of telling, you know, it tells you a lot about who's in the building at CBS. The CBS correspondent in the article I'm looking at told the independent, quote, the fact that we don't have money to pay journalists, but we have money to pay Bari Weiss between $100 and $200 million is indicative of what the Ellison's true goal is here, and it's not journalism. So they still think they're doing journalism over there, not propaganda. Yeah, well, what was journalism? I mean, the whole thing that the CBS denied the Hunter Biden laptop was real. That's not journalism. No, and that's what they did. And so it's really laughable that they could say that the new CBS news is going to carry water for Trump. First of all, it's not. If you look at the free press, there's plenty of articles there that intelligently are critical of Trump, but not in a hyper-hysterical way, which is I think we need less hysteria. I think we need a middle. And right now we've got a very polarized media. You've got one extreme or the other. And, you know, I think that we need a middle. And I think the middle is rising up. I think that's an untold story. I think you've got a channel that I think doing pretty well called News Nation. It's not bad. I watch that sometimes. But the other thing about Bari Weiss is that she's got digital knowledge of the online world, which new media, which I think is very important. And I think the question is going to be, though, how fast can she make changes? That's what I think. We may not see changes right away. She might just make a few because, I mean, it's a, you know, she has to learn how to manage a huge operation. Can she drag them towards the middle without lopping a whole bunch of heads? Because it seems like virtually everybody that works there now is on the left. Well, as one person I was reading pointed out, there are a lot of quiet allies that she might have, and she's got to find out who they are. She's got to figure out the lay of the land. And there are many issues she's going to have to confront. She also's got to deal with the president of CBS News, who's going to still be there. That's going to be, I think, her equal Tony Sobrowski. Now, she's got a direct report. She's a direct report to David Ellison, who's the CEO and chairman of Paramount, who bought.

This is over Obamacare. They wrote them to be temporary because they were trying to cram a lot of spending into a reconciliation bill. And the only way they could do it was to make things temporary. So really, this is all on the Democrats. And eventually they will fold and they will vote to reopen the government. By the way, Dems are also demanding to restore Medicare cuts from the big beautiful bill. Meantime, another vote in the Senate failed yesterday. And there was more unhinged Democrat weirdness exposed. California's Katie Porter. running for governor to replace Gavin Newsom is exposed for berating a staffer during a video interview. We're going to lose more than half a million Californians dying prematurely to air pollution and other problems. And the state could lose. Get out of my shot. Yeah, that video put out by Politico, it comes right after another video went viral of Katie Porter. berating a reporter for having the gall to ask an unscripted question. It's now 604. Bob Price with Breitbart, Texas says this is a big change from the Biden years. That's what they should have been doing to start with. You're supposed to apply for asylum in the first safe country that you come to, and their line all along was that Mexico was not a safe country, but now it appears it's just fine. During the last four years, several migrant caravans tried to force their way into the U.S. at the Texas border, including one. group that rushed a Border Patrol checkpoint near El Paso. Corey Olson, News Radio 740, KTRH. It is now 605. The Houston Chronicle claims that Harris County Commissioners get most of their campaign funds from the people whose contracts they approve. Charles Blame with Urban Reform says that's not the real problem.

A lot of the big rewards in the county and who are not doing jobs that are up to par that the community doesn't want, but if they continue to get repeat jobs. I think that's when you start to question things. And we've seen a lot of that with some of the Democratic commissioners on Harris County Commissioner's score. On the flip side, the lone Republican Tom Ramsey took in the least amount of all the commissioners and has given full transparency. A shooting spree across Harris County, which started in Sugarland, continued at an auto shop on the southwest side where two people were killed and then ended when the gunman shot himself at a third location. The first victim, a woman, and the shooter were said to be in some sort of relationship. Elsewhere, the city announced plans for a massive new super hub for the homeless. It will be at what was previously a Star of Hope homeless shelter. This could lead to a bigger concentration of homeless near Dakin Park and Shell Energy Stadium. Maybe it's easier you can deal with them then. Maybe you'll think you'll have less violence and less crime throughout the rest of the city. Unless you can hold them there, they're free to go wherever they want to go. Former city councilman Greg Travis says this isn't going to solve the root causes of our homeless problem. The key is to get them off the streets, get them to mental health they need and get them into facilities. We need to open up mental institutions. That would be the best way to get these people off the streets. Travis also called out the plans to pay $16 million. for the property, which is worth less than $7 million. And the city council, by the way, postponed a plan vote yesterday on the abandonment, excuse me, of Polk Street for the expansion of the GRB. 606 earlier this week, Dolly Parton's sister took to social media and asked for prayers. The country music icon didn't like it. She posted a video to social media entitled, I ain't dead yet. Everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you? I'm working hard here. Governor Greg Abbott directing the Texas Department of Transportation to ensure cities and counties comply with federal and state roadway safety guidelines, targeting street markings like rainbow-colored sidewalks. Governor Greg Abbott said, quote, Texans expect their taxpayer dollars to be used wisely. not to advance political agendas on Texas roadways. Today I directed the Texas Department of Transportation to ensure Texas counties and cities remove any and all political ideologies from our streets to keep Texans moving safely and free from distraction. We must maintain a safe and consistent transportation network across Texas. In other words, there's a way a crosswalk is supposed to be marked and is supposed to look. And that doesn't include rainbows, okay?

Does not include rainbows or symbols or flags for social political or ideological messages. It's just a crosswalk. That's all it's supposed to do. Now, the question is, how do they intend to go about enforcing it? Because, you know, it's one thing to make a law or a rule. It's another thing to enforce it. So I would hope that they have tied something to this other than a stern lecture or a finger wag like maybe, I don't know, withholding transportation funding from a city who allows this to continue. 6-10, time for traffic and weather together. You scratch my back. I'll scratch yours. Let's ask Charles Blaine, urban reform here. The majority of Harris County Commissioner's campaign dollars come from people whose contracts they approve, Charles. It's better than having the majority of the money coming from people who have contracts under consideration, as long as it's done after the fact that the contract's been approved. But what can you tell us about this?

Yeah, so I mean, it's interesting, it's eye opening, but you know, in and of itself, the reporting doesn't kind of show us any sort of connection or anything. What it does say, though, is that. People who have business at the county want to give money to people who decide those contract decisions in the county. And it's similar that you see at the city, a lot of the money from vendors going to the mayor and to council. And same thing in the courthouse with judges getting money from big law firms and lawyers who represent, who do cases in front of them. They want to curry favor with the people who make the decisions. Now, the problem comes is if you can prove that those people making decisions are actually swayed by that money. Right, exactly. And the question, of course, is it's not the money, right? It's the amount. So are there limits as far as what those campaign contributions can be? Not at the county. And that's probably the most alarming part of the story is that there aren't. I mean, we kind of knew this. But when you look at the city and you compare the city in the county, at least the city has some restrictions in the sense that if you have a contract that's being considered, there's a blackout period in which those vendors are not allowed to kind of communicate and donate to council members and the mayor. And you don't have those same restrictions at the county. And so that's where you kind of have some concern about what happens as these considerations are taking place. The county's argument is that the commissioners don't actually sit in on. on these kind of the decisions on who the vendors are going to be until they reached the table of commissioner's court. But nonetheless, you still want them removed from the process if it's being considered. So that is something that should be looked at. I think having a blackout period wouldn't hurt. Yeah, I would agree with that. You know, we have a problem, though, at virtually every level of government when it comes to this, don't we? We have a similar problem at the state level when it comes to lobbyists. A lot of campaign contributions come from lobbying groups who go into the capital and sway lawmakers to vote yes or no on specific pieces of legislation that impact their business. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. I mean, you know this big push at the state level to kind of kill this taxpayer-funded lobbying, because those are folks that we have to pay through our tax dollars with local governments and others going and hiring lobbyists to go and advocate against us. So yeah, it's happening at every level. And I think what we really need to be focusing on is kind of drawing these deeper connections on when this money is going to these officials and how the money is affecting their decisions. I mean, when you look at the reporting from the Chronicle, they single out Commissioner Ramsey and he's got the largest share of this money. When you look at the dollar about it, it was $71,000 as compared to Commissioner Rodney Ellis's $800,000 that he received during the one reporting period. Now, you have to ask yourself, why is one commissioner getting $800,000 during a reporting period when he's not even up for re-election right now? So that's the most alarming part. And why does the only newspaper in the city of Houston just report on the Republican and how much money he may have? I think we already know the answer to that one pretty clearly, don't we? L-D-E-A.

And also, it leaves up the fact that out of all of them, if anyone has the industry experience, it's Commissioner Remsey. So, of course, all these people that he's worked with for years are going to know and give money to him because they trust him. So they leave out these kind of important facts that I think actually provide more detail and insight into the broader problem here. But I think when you look at Commissioner analysis, I mean, it draws questions as to why he's receiving that much, how much power he actually wields and what we can do to restrict some of that, because I don't think any county commissioner should be in such a position of power that big engineering firms and firms. feel that they need to give $800,000 during a reporting period to sway favor. Right. And how do we know, by the way, how that money is being spent? That would be the other thing. Is that money actually being spent on campaigning or is that money being spent on other things to enrich the candidate himself? That's always a concern too. Charles Blaine, thank you. So thank God for our citizens that are out there that are concealed or open gun carry or constitutional carry. And they're taking matters into their own hands. Sonoma County, California, bringing back the mask mandates for health care facilities. Well, that's how it starts, right? You got to wear a mask to come into the hospital. But at any rate, they started, they're going to start it November the 1st. It's going to be like flu season. They're going to run it November the 1st through March the 31st every year. It'll be mandatory at hospitals in Sonoma County, California to wear a mask. The interim health officer there issued an order Monday mandating masks for anybody entering specified health care facilities in the county. The rationale behind the order, according to the Sonoma County Department of Health, is to protect the most vulnerable populations such as the elderly and cancer patients and to try to prevent medical staff from getting sick and creating staffing problems for facilities. My hunch is these were individuals who were actually called the president on, you know, around January 6, 2021. My guess is they were people, I mean, there's lots of us who were talking to the president in those, you know, we talked to the president a lot just normal times, but certainly around January 6th when we were going to have that vote on the House. floor. So my guess is it was those people and then they tracked who those individuals, who those senators then in fact called. I think it's related to the state of Pennsylvania, but who knows? So what we do know is it's wrong. It shouldn't happen. And we need to, I think, get to the bottom of it just as Senator Johnson said. Okay, but will you get to the bottom of it? Probably 90% of 18-wheeler drivers know exactly how tall their vehicle is, how much scoge room they have. He says he hopes it doesn't cause a major event. She had a lot of thank you there, but there's one thank you that didn't happen caused a shooting and a killing in Dallas. It's crazy. Here is the report from Fox 4. in Dallas, Texas. And according to that arrest warrant affidavit, we now know that it was the victim who got mad at the suspect for not saying thank you after she held the door open for the suspect at an area business. Well, that ended up spilling over into another nearby business where the arguing continued. And then once they were outside, that is when that verbal altercation turned deadly.

The shooter was telling them, come outside, like let's handle it outside, like, you know, let's fight outside. And the mom and the daughter were kind of just like telling her to like go away. This 27 year old nurse who asked that we not use her name had just walked out of this pet smart store located off West Wheatland Road in the southeast Oak Cliff area of Dallas Tuesday afternoon. When she noticed two women, one with her 20 year old daughter, arguing in the parking lot. Moments later, she heard gunshots. But the mom and daughter tried to get in their car and like de-escalate the situation, but the lady wasn't having it. So they ended up turning to fight. And then that's when the lady pulled out her gun and shot her. Dallas police later identified the suspect as 22-year-old Keona Hampton. She fled the scene in her car, but was arrested hours later with the help of surveillance video that captured her image, car, and license plate. The witness ran to help and put her training to work, performing CPR. The daughter was next to the mom the whole time. She like, it's hard because like, you know, the screaming of a child for her mother is never easy or and it's never going to leave my head. The victim identified as Cecilia Simpson died at the hospital. All of this started on the other end of the shopping center at five below as both the suspect and victim exited the store with something that might seem like a simple gesture of courtesy. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Simpson got upset at Hampton for not thanking her for holding the door. It spiraled quickly from there. Hampton, who reportedly waived her Miranda rights, confirmed that she engaged in the verbal dispute, entering the PetSmart twice and continuing the argument throwing a drink bottle at Simpson's car when she was about to leave and engaging in a physical altercation with her. All that over not saying thank you? What has become of our society? Listen, I realize that there are, especially in certain cultures, that there is a culture of disrespect or feeling like you've been disrespected. And that has a tendency that simple disrespect. I held the door for you. You didn't say thank you. That's enough to have somebody shot over? I mean, you feel that, disrespected by that. Wow. 710, time for traffic and weathered together. On News Radio 740, KTRH. 722 our time here in Houston's morning news. All right. So the city is announcing a new $16 million low barrier homeless super hub. I'm not exactly sure what that means. I get the impression it's not just a place to house the homeless, but it's a place to provide city services for the homeless all at one location, whatever those services may be. Join us to talk about Greg Travis, former city councilman. I guess the first criticism you hear about something like this is... You know, anytime you have someplace that attracts a huge number of homeless people, it can be a negative image for the city. Do you see that as being a problem with this?

Well, Jimmy, thank you for having me on. Yeah, I do, actually. I think this is going to be encouraging more homelessness. And I'll talk about that in the second with Portland. But the interesting part is you asked at the beginning with your tease, is this going to be a good investment. And the answer is going to be no. I mean, we're going to be paying $16 million for a property. It looks like it's only worth around $6 million. And the reason for that is they're trying to get rid of the homeless underneath the bridge near Dyken Park. And you're only four blocks away from that area. So why are we paying $16 million to try to move people four blocks away? It just ignores human nature. It just ignores the fact that these people don't want their rules. They don't want, because it says this can be no barrier. Well, that means they can come and go as they please. Well, I guess what they're going to go when the baseball games are playing. They're going to go four blocks to Dike and park. That's where the money is. That's where the panhandling is. So I don't understand why they're doing this unless somebody just wants to get over to $16 million and give it to somebody. Well, you know, and even in a perfect world, if something like this would actually work, Greg Travis, and I agree with you, I don't think it does. It only is expected to include 150 to 225 beds. We have a lot more homeless than that, don't we? Well, we do. Fortunately, we don't have as many homeless as other cities. If you go to San Francisco, L.A., Portland, or Seattle. But that's awesome because we don't enable them. And I don't want us to be enabling them. Up there, they actually pay in Portland. They actually pay their people $1,000 a month stipend. Be homeless. So that's why people go up to Portland and become homeless. And if you walk around there, our city's got some bad homeless issues, but it's not as bad as other areas. And you don't want to walk on that slippery slope where you start encouraging it because then you're going to get more people congregating. And they're going to be coming here from other cities. And they do that. Okay. If you ever talk to the people on Portland streets, they've come from other cities. Oh, yeah. They go to where they think they can get the most benefits. Exactly. One of the things that the Super HUD, though, supposedly would do that maybe has... some good to it is that evidently they were planning on providing on-site health care psychiatric services substance abuse treatment and that covers at least two out of the three big ones we know that most of the people who are homeless are homeless because they want to be many of them have mental health issues many of them have substance abuse problems so you would like to see a successful treatment of that maybe you can get them out of that cycle of being homeless Well, and that would be a good thing, but we can still do that now. We still do that now. I mean, it's not that that's not being done. It's just this is going to be done at this facility. But again, you're not going to, what about people that are, you know, a mile away or over on the Galleria area that we've got some homeless over there. They're not going to go all the way down there for this homeless treatment. But I do agree with that. And here's why. Because when the public out there thinks of homeless, they think of the mother with two kids who just lost her house or divorced or whatever. But most of these people are mentally ill.

And that's what we have to cost you on is the mental illness. And what they do with their drug of choice, whether it be heroin, meth, or alcohol, is they're trying to overcome the pain. And they're trying to, that's their treatment of choice. So you've got to take care of that mental illness. But, you know, the best way to do that is, you know, President Trump is talking about reinstituting the mental institutions. And there's all a pushback on that. But obviously, you've got to be cruel to be kind sometimes because it's better to these people be in a facility with a warm bed, hot shower, and three meals a day getting psychiatric treatment than be on the streets. Well, here's the bottom line, too. $16 million is a big expenditure for a city that has financial issues. We're spending more than that on homeless. We're spending over 100 million. If you look at all the NGOs are involved, just pull up Houston homeless shelters. Almost everyone that pulls up on your website is on the city dole. They get some money somewhere because we've forged those NGOs, non-government organizations, to treat this issue. So there's a lot of money going out to the homeless. I don't have a problem taking care of the problem, but let's just do it where we get the most benefit for the bucks. Well, I think you're saying there's money well spent and there's money that's wasted. And if we're spending $100 million and we still have a homeless problem, then obviously the money's not being very well spent. Exactly. It's not. And again, it's also not done in just one in one trunch. It's done to this group, to that group, to this group, and under this guys, and under that guys. And so when you look at it, it looks like $10 million here, $5 million here, $8 million there. But when you add them all together, it's over $100 million. Yeah, a lot of money. New research showing that the good guys with the guns stopped about 62% of active shooter incidents. The FBI used to claim that number was under 4%. The disparity between the FBI statistics and real-world numbers might not be an accident. There probably were some nefarious things happening within the FBI, possibly under the Biden administration, to support this. ideology of tighter gun controls. Retired HPD Captain Dr. Greg Freeman says these new numbers are a perfect example of why we need the Second Amendment. You have armed thugs. Some of them are operating independently or as organizations. And they're going around terrorizing people. Thank God for people that step up. Freeman says it's critical to be both armed and properly trained in how to use a firearm. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. And the numbers come as three people were shot and killed across several locations across Houston yesterday. Janen Sugarland continued with two people murdered in southwest Houston and ended at a third location. An officer's a ride at that location. They found the suspect inside the suspect vehicle deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The first victim that was killed, the woman in this case, apparently was in a relationship with the shooter. Meantime in Washington, a roundtable on Antifa and the growing violence we see in cities like Portland, Oregon. This is not activism. It's anarchy. We can't and we will not let mask. terrorists, burn our buildings, attack our law enforcement, and intimidate our communities. Attorney General Pam Bondi, that roundtable was interrupted by events in the Middle East, specifically potential peace, as Hamas says it will release all 20 remaining Israeli hostages that are still alive.

The president has routinely said the deal in the Middle East is bigger than Gaza and called developments a great day for the Arab and Muslim worlds as well as Israel and all surrounding nations. The president signaled he did plan to travel to the Middle East as early as this weekend. According to Israeli sources, the president could address the Knesset in Israel on Sunday. That's Kevin Cork reporting. 734 knows end in sight to the shutdown. Now it's day number nine. Another vote to reopen the government. failed yesterday. I'm not sure there has ever been such a strong contrast between two political parties. The Republican parties delivering for the American people and the Democrats trying to make a show out of this. Now Speaker Mike Johnson on Fox. President Trump says a standalone bill to pay military service members during the shutdown probably will happen. If it doesn't happen by next Wednesday, about 1.3 active duty military will start missing paychecks. Former FBI director James Comey pleads not guilty to charges that he lied to Congress. As for what comes next, I expect that James Comey's team is going to make motions particularly about selective prosecution and that sort of thing. And the judge will have to rule on that. And if the case doesn't get thrown out prior to a trial date, we'll have a trial. Legal analyst Andy McCarthy, James Comey's trial starts January 5th. Republicans are demanding a full investigation into evidence that former special... Council Jack Smith spied on several Republican senators. And CBS still employs Gail King, who's got ties to the Obamas. 736, looking at your money, the minutes from the September Fed meeting show that officials are looking at two more interest rate cuts by the end of this year. The next meeting is at the end of the month. If you're selling a condo, new national numbers show that sellers outnumber buyers by 72%. But realtor Kenya Burrell Van Warmer says condo sales here.

are up 4% compared to last year. She says the strong market points to the city's affordability and flexibility for buyers. The diverse economy, it helps us with stability, and then less regulations with condominiums. Van Warmer adds the city also offers a diverse market from fixer uppers to newer developments. All the local media, the television media, has been reporting the story of what happened with this shooting we had yesterday involving a guy shooting a woman on the freeway and then going to a different location and shooting two mechanics and then going to a different location and shooting himself. They've all been reporting it as road rage. Here is the report from our television partner, KPRC2. We've learned from Sugarland Police that the road rage incident was not random, and the shooter was in a relationship with that woman. He is accused of killing. Now, out here in Houston, there is no longer a crime scene where those two men were shot and killed earlier this afternoon. Investigators tell us that these shootings happen at two different auto shops right across the street from each other here. Now, I did have a chance to look at surveillance video. We are not sharing it out of respect for the family, but you could see the shoot. get out of his car and chase one of the men before deliberately shooting and killing him. Loved ones are left shaken by this tragedy. Crews towed away this white SUV riddled with bullets. Inside, a woman was found dead after Sugarland Police say a man she was in a relationship with shot and killed her around 1230 p.m. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim in a vehicle with several gunshot wounds to her body. Two witnesses helped as officers tried to save her, but she died at the hospital. About an hour later, investigators say that same man opened fire on two different men at auto shops in Houston near Fondren and Main Street. There was a report that a male in a gray Ford escape, which matched the description of the vehicle in the sugar land shooting, had been involved in an altercation with a mechanic there. During that altercation, he shot the mechanic as he was fleeing. Apparently, somebody came out of another warehouse. started filming that suspect leaving. The suspect then fired several shots, killing that witness. The shooter was later found near Fondren and Creek Bend Drive dead inside his SUV. Investigators say he had a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Families of the two men rushed to the scene, hugging and shutting tears as they hope for more answers. How is this a road rage story?

You notice they began with that? A road raid incident. This was not a road rage incident. He had a relationship with this woman. He didn't get his gun out and shoot up the car because she had flipped him off while tailgating or cutting him off. That's a road rage incident, right? When what somebody's doing on the road makes you so angry, you resort to violence or some other type of negative act. That's not road rage. That's murder. That's all that is. That's a guy who had a relationship and dollars to donuts. How much you want to bet that the first mechanic dude that got shot got shot because he was having a relationship with this guy's girlfriend? Or had they had started having a relationship after she broke up with him. And he felt it's another, I've been disrespectful story. That's what, again, we're back down to disrespected. Another disrespect killing because I've been disrespected. Woman don't want me no more. She's taken up with this other guy. I'm going to take care of that problem. The poor third guy, he's a witness. Got eliminate the witness. And then you start thinking, okay, they drives away. He finally figured out, hey, I might be going to prison for the rest of my life. I think I'll just end it all here. Hey, James Comey, I might do both. Not only did he go to college, he was the head of the FBI, and then, of course, he lied to Congress, and provided, of course, there's a good case, and the Lord knows if it is a good case or a provable case, he could conceivably go to jail. He was arraigned yesterday, and the left-leaning media, the progressive left media. went out of its mind over it. Here they are reacting. It's some reaction to them from Jesse Waters. Not since Watergate, Anna. Have we seen a president weaponize the Justice Department to go after his political rivals? This is one of the most significant cases in America's 249-year history. A president of the United States directed that one of his opponents be prosecuted because he didn't like that individual. This is an effort by the president to use the power of the federal government to muzzle somebody he doesn't like. The legal case is simply a way to get James Comey to shut up. These guys are great, Jesse. Isn't the whole point of this really? It's not really the conviction, it's the process, which many innocent Republicans, and I'll even throw, Martha Stewart, had to go through because of that guy's ambition. So maybe he should go through the process he put everybody else through. Yeah, and the process is expensive, and it's depressing, and I wouldn't mind seeing a conviction because you can't just lie to Congress. All these Democrats in Congress are saying people come in and lie to us all the time. We never charge them. What are you doing? You're saying you're okay with coming into Congress and being lied to? You're conducting an investigation on January 6th. You're okay if Republicans come in and lie? You're okay if Anthony Fauci comes in and lies about the Lab League. You're okay with that? They were conducting an investigation on the Russia hoax. And James Comey, the FBI director, lied to Congress who's conducting oversight, who were trying to get to the bottom of how this happened, and he lied about it. And if you're okay with that, then Congress is a joke, that we don't have a country. Then this is the whole thing. You go in, you put your hand up, and you say, I swear, you just go in and lie. Then this is the stupidest government of all time. Well, yeah, he's got he is. And, yeah, we do, luckily, we still do have a country, but we've done our level best, our politicians have done their level best in order to destroy it. So let's try to get this right this time. I'm kind of with the crew here in thinking that, okay, even if they don't get a conviction, at least James Comey gets to go through the motions of everything that the Department of Justice and the FBI put. conservatives through. You've got to go to trial. You've got to spend money on lawyers. You've got to be drug through the mud. You've got to deal with all this stuff and you may have to deal with all this stuff for several years of your life. Is it payback? Yeah. Do I mind that he's getting a payback? Hell no.
