It's more of what matters to you from the John Moore Services Studios. Well, good morning. It is Monday. This is Houston's morning news. I'm Jimmy Amy Coney Barrett. Among our top stories as we get started this morning. Just enough Democrats. Vote to potentially end the government shutdown. Governor Greg Abbott, running for a fourth term. And coming up at 508. So what did Democrats get for reopening the government or agreeing to reopen the government? The answer? Not much. Details in the minutes ahead. First. Let's check out the morning drive for the first thing. Good morning, Sky Mike. Dude, we're looking at your north freeway here, southbound right at the loop. That's not a good spot to start off with a wreck, and we're off to it. Well, it's a Monday. It's kind of chilly, too. It's right before 610. It's more than anything. It's affecting that ramp if you're trying to go over to the heights or garden oaks. If you hang to the left, you can get around this just fine. I'm not going to start rewriting you yet. We will revisit this, and the next thing that pops up at the 510 break in the generator. Center.com traffic center. From our KTRH, top tax defenders, 24-hour weather center, sunny and cold today with a high temperature only getting up around 60. We'll get the complete forecast with Terry at the Weather Channel. In about nine minutes. Right now 44 did your officials, severe weather station, News Radio 740 KTRH. It's time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders. Thank you, Jimmy. Good morning, everyone. It is 501. We're sponsored by Shampas Farm Supply and our top story. It looks like we're getting closer to the shutdown ending. President Trump on his return to the White House last night as eight Senate Democrats cave and take a step towards ending the Chuck Schumer shutdown. Eight Democrats have voted with Republicans to greenlight the bill. The bill funds the government through late January, and it funds three sections of government through next fall. There is nothing in the bill to offset rising health care costs. Democrats demanded money for health care aid before voting to fund the government. But Democrats walked away with nothing despite their shutdown gambit. Fox's chat, Pergroom, keep in mind the House still has to approve whatever the Senate sends them before the shutdown officially ends. Now, the Senate move comes after Trump pushed to end the filibuster, a plan that Texas's John Corden had not totally backed. I think he's more of a traditionalist. He says, let's not change things to take care of ourselves today because they could come back and harm us tomorrow. And it's a very smart approach, but it disagrees with Trump. Political consultant Bill Miller says this could hurt John Cornyn's chances of getting a Trump endorsement. In the meantime, we still have travel issues. 67 flights already canceled between Bush and Hoppy.

this morning. And this won't surprise you. The mainstream media played defense for the Dems during the shutdown. As Bill D'Agostino notes for the Media Research Center and NewsBusters, it's been all about defending the Democrats. Fairly remarkable. The media are basically trying to exonerate Democrats from any amount of culpability they have in this shutdown. And the research shows the numbers don't lie. What we found was that there were only 12 instances where anybody on one of these three broadcast networks actually mentioned that it was Senate Democrats causing the government shutdown. Instead, it's 87% pro-democrat coverage. Jeff Figgs News Radio 740, KT.R. It's now 503. This is the place where I first ran for public office. We won Harris County then, and we are going to win Harris County again this election. Greg Abbott makes it official right here in Houston announcing his run for a historic fourth term as governor. The move comes after voters passed all 17 propositions on the ballot last week. Filing for the midterms continues, and the Harris County GOP is working overtime to recruit candidates to run for multiple judicial positions. We actually have a great slate of candidates. Lots of great experience, background. We're real thrilled with how it's shaping up. But that said, we have the longest ballot in the country. Party chair Cindy Siegel says they're still working to recruit more for family, probate, and felony courts. The candidate's filing period is ending on December 8th. Elsewhere after last week's Democrat wins in Democrat states, we should add. California Governor Gavin Newsom took a victory lap here in Houston. We're dealing with an invasive species by the name of Donald Trump. But the Californian was here in Houston. California passed Prop 50 retaliation for Texas redistricting. The new maps may impact next year's midterms, but that won't help or won't matter if the GOP doesn't learn from last week. It wasn't just the big races in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia. Election data guru Ryan Gerdeski tells Breitbart News, Democrats also won smaller races across several other states last Tuesday. Places that really had no national repercussions, but the turnout was tremendous on the part of Democrats just to say, let me stick it to Trump and go vote for a Democrat. And Republican turnout was very, very low. Even in Mississippi, Republicans saw seats in the state legislature. He says Republicans must sharpen their economic message and get their 2024 voters to turn out next year.

to counter the Dems anti-Trump enthusiasm. Corey Olson, News Radio 740, KTRH. Looking at your money, if President Trump gets his way, you're going to reap the benefits of tariffs promising a $2,000 dividend check for everyone except for high-income earners. Overnight futures on the Dow are up more than 200 points. The National Retail Federation predicts that holiday sales will top $1 trillion. That's reflecting a 4.3% increase compared to last year. Lone Star Economists. Lone Star College economist Hank Lewis says there are a couple of ways to look at this. So it could be that, yes, it's higher, but some of that may be because of there being higher prices of various goods and services. In other words, you might not get as much bang for your buck, and that's because of inflation, which started, of course, under Joe Biden. It's now 506. The Texans, what a game. They outscored the Jaguars 26-0 in the fourth quarter to beat Jacksonville 36 to 29. Davis Mills had to go-ahead score in the final. minute. I have always had the mentality to stay confident, regardless of what happened on the play before. It's kind of like the old basketball mentality, shoot or shoot. If you stop, I mean, you're not going to see shots go in. The Texans are now 4 and 5. They visit Tennessee next weekend. The Rockets beat the Bucks in Milwaukee, 122 to 115. Kevin Durant, 31 points to lead the way. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's News Weather and Traffic Station News Radio 740, KTRH. Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Amy Coney Barrett. All right, well, we are technically still in the government shutdown, but it looks like the end is just about here. The Senate voted 60 to 40 last night, just enough Democrats to go along with this to end the shutdown. Now it has to go back to the House, where, who knows, Joe, I don't think it'll be any problem getting it through the House because... Really, Republicans didn't really give up anything in all this. At the end of the day, I think they realized that Democrats, you know, that didn't vote for it in particular, realized that, hey, you guys are going to go ahead and go with Republicans on this, but they haven't given us anything. And they really didn't. What they basically agreed to was there will be a vote. We will take a vote on health care, on health care subsidies. We will take a vote on that. There's no guarantee that the vote will pass. In fact, I'm a betting person, and I generally am, they probably wouldn't, at least not from what I'm saying, it wouldn't pass. So Bernie Sanders on the floor of the Senate, this is yesterday before the vote took place about 10.30 last night. This is before the vote. Here's Bernie doing what Bernie does. And if this resolution is passed tonight. We are on a pathway to throw 15 million Americans off of Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. 15 million. Our job is to create universal health care. Guarantee health care, every man, woman, a child, not throw 15 million people off the health care. They have low-income and working-class people.

9:11

And my friends know what you are voting on. Studies are out there. That when you throw 15 million people off healthcare, some 50,000 of our fellow Americans will die unnecessarily every single year. Anyone think that's funny? Something to laugh at? Something to just go past? I hate to say it, but as soon as Bernie Sanders says to you with that accent of his, does anybody think that's funny? First thing I do is start the snicker. inappropriately. But it makes you laugh anyway. What Bernie Sanders has talked about there is universal health care. No, he's asking for, well, we're not asking for universal health care. He does. He wants socialized medicine. But he's a Democrat socialist. That's what he wants. He's not going to get what he wants. At any time, I hope in the future, he's not going to get what he wants. So, as I said, this is the first step towards ending the government shutdown. Nothing government is easy. You'd like to think that the Senate was holding it up. So if they voted last night to stop holding it up, we'd be back in business this morning, right? But it's not quite that simple. I'm guessing the House will act today and we'll see how quickly things can. rev back up here and get our nation's travel schedule back in time for Thanksgiving. Looks like it will be back in plenty of time for that. 5-10, time for traffic and weathered together. What's pretty, skyline? I'm just looking at the Fred Hartman Bridge. I'm supposed to look at this wreck first, though. Okay, I'll get to the Hartman Bridge. Terry, I sent you a link so you can look if you can look in your thing now. I don't know if you can. North Freeway, I-45 Southbound at 610. Right where you get on that ramp, right where you don't need it. You're trying to go to the working side. You're trying to go over to the heights. They're letting you buy to go to the heights side, westbound. They're not letting you go east side to head over to the truck stops on the east loop. So you can't do that. If you're not hazardous, what are you going to do? Oh, I guess you go west and go around. If you are not hazardous, you can go straight through the north freeway and make the Katy Freeway on the outbound side here. I don't think this wreck's going to be here very long. Now, put your hard hats on. We're going to the 146 Missouri Street, and that's the friend. Red Hartman Bridge, checking out Baytown Side to Leport. It's pretty. Look at both ways here. We're in good shape here. And the East Sam Tolbridge, no suckage here yet, and no big hoo-ah going on on the East Loop 6-10. We look good. Bud Plant's 225. Clean bill. By the way, Terry, it does not hurt cows when you dehorn them. It's just like, yeah, I wanted you to know that. Is it like taking claws off of cats? It's like your fingernails. Because I know you were horrified by that thing I put on Facebook, but that little squeeze shoot thing, they just cut their... horns off. No, it's like... Have you had your fingernail? No, no, not removed, not removed. Just clipped. You're just clipping. Oh, clip. Yeah, it doesn't hurt them because they don't have any feeling in their horns. So that's what that's all. I'm sorry about that. Got off track, y'all. But I wanted Terry to know. They're okay. I'm in the generator, supercenter.com traffic center. They are traffic and animal husbandry 101 from our KTRH, top tax defenders 24-hour weather center. Terry is here. Hey, Terry, let's make everybody feel so good about living in Houston, Texas. Yeah. Describe the weather right now in Chicago.

12:32

Okay, let's pull up Chicago. They're dealing with snow and lake effects snow. Now, around the city, they won't see as much snow as some of the suburbs to the north. And how much snow are we talking about, Terry? Oh, let's see. I don't have any. I hear they're going to measure it in feet instead of inches. You know, I was looking yesterday and I was seeing six to 12 inches, but that was yesterday. So let me check and see the specific snowfall amount. It's not even Thanksgiving yet. Yeah, not even Thanksgiving. Well, it's November, but boy, yeah, this is their first big dose of snow. And the problem is that the lakes are still quite warm. That moisture source is still. very much open for business as we'd like to say they're dealing with that you know what um i'm kind of liking our weather like yeah it's a little chilly right now but um it'll be warming up over the next couple of days. It does not take us long before the sun really does work its magic. Now, highs today will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. By tomorrow, I think we're going to see temperatures in the low to mid-70s and close to 80 by Wednesday. There you go. That didn't last long, did it? No, not at all. Temperature currently is, let me double check it here because I'm not used to having a... It's quite this cool. 44 at your official severe weather station. News Radio 740, KTRH. Morrow Casino. I live in Clear Lake. Humble. Reliable. KTRH. Traffic and weather. Next on the 10. All right. So I think we're going to have a question of the day today, having to do with Governor Greg Abbott's announcement over the weekend that he is running for his fourth term, fourth term. For Governor of Texas, we have some of the highlights from his announcement coming up, along with our question, how you feel about Governor Greg Abbott going for fourth term. In fact, I might as well go ahead and throw that down now. Are you excited by this? Do you wish that we had some new blood or somebody else running for governor on the Republican ticket? You just go to the iHeart Radio app, KTRH. You hit the talkback button up to 30 seconds, first name where you're calling from, and how do you feel about Governor Greg Abbott running for his fourth term as Governor of Texas? Right now we've got traffic and weathered together as we check out the drive again with Skymike. Clear North Freeway, the wreck at the ramp. I told you, southbound, they moved that out of the way, and the suckage is about to disappear too. I'm not ready to reroute just yet, so I think we look good. West Sam. Southbound at West Harbor, bad spot for a wrecked sticky spot. He's in a left shoulder. I expect them to take a real lane, a left lane in the next few minutes. This is southbound, so watch out if you're coming down from Memorial. I'm Skymike and the generator supercenter.com traffic center. From our KTRH, top tax defenders, 24-hour weather center, sunny, cold, right about 60 for a high today. Sunny and more seasonal, 73 tomorrow. Partly cloudy, right about 80 for the high temperature on Wednesday. Right now, it is 44 at your official severe weather station. News Radio 740, KTRH. Time to check out some of our top Monday morning stories. Here's Cliff. Thank you, Jimmy. Evacuation orders could continue for several days in Polk County after the Carter Lake Dam was compromised over the weekend. The tentative deal to end the shutdown would restore snap benefits. Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabu has died at the age of 84. Get the latest news anytime at KTRH.com. Our next update is at 5.30. The Chuck Schumer shutdown. The events of the day. Portland, Chicago, violent crime. Every day. Israel. Hamas. Peace. On News Radio 740, KTRH. 5.23 now here in Houston's morning news. So Governor Greg Abbott here in Houston to make the announcement that he is running for another term. But of course, first, before he said the official words, I'm going to run again. He wanted to point out all the good things that have happened under his watch. Since since I've been governor, Texas has been ranked number one in America for the most new jobs. Number one in America is the best state for doing business every year that I've been governor.

17:13

Number one for business expansions and relocations. And number one in areas that are kind of important to your everyday lives. Did you know that Texas ranks number one for the most electricity generation, things you need to use every single day in your homes? In fact, Texas generates more electricity than the second and third states combined. We're leaders in aerospace, leaders in artificial intelligence. The Texas economy is growing twice as fast as the United States economy. And more Texans have a job today and their wages are higher than ever before in the history of Texas. Important is this, and that is the driving force of the Texas economy, are our small businesses. Businesses like where we are here tonight is small businesses represent more than 95% of all businesses in Texas. And get this, Texas just announced a new record. We now have more than 3 million registered businesses in the state of Texas twice the number when I first took office. The reason for the success is that Texas remains the land of opportunity. We remain a state that insists on the rule of law in our state. We believe in things like hard work. high expectations. And we value our faith, our families, and our freedom. And we are a bastion of common sense in a country that is reeling from far left progressive insanity. Texas is the common sense state in the United States. But Texas isn't just another state where you're home. your heritage. Texas is the heartbeat of this land we call America. As Texans, we will defend this state with every fiber of our being. We will protect what we built. We will finish what we started. We will lead Texas into its glorious future. And that's why tonight I'm here to announce I am running for re-election as your governor for the great state of Texas. Four more years. Four more years. That's right. Anyway. The question of the day, again, simply is your thoughts on Greg Abbott running for another term. Have you had enough Greg Abbott? Do you want more Greg Abbott? Would you rather we had somebody else leading the ticket just maybe a little new blood or you think, hey, four more years with Greg Abbott is just what we need?

20:21

Go to the iHeart radio app, KTRH. First name where you're calling from you, your thoughts on the governor's bid for a fourth term. 526, it is time to take a look at your money. And good morning. We're in good shape here all the way down. to K. Well, there's some nice neighborhoods too, but we're posted speeds all around. We cleared Nord Freeway, the wreck at the loop, and the backorder slip's gone too. Skymic and the generator supercenter.com traffic center. From our KTRH, generator super center, 24-hour weather center is sunny and cold with a high today right about 60. We'll get you the complete forecast. It warms up pretty quickly. Tomorrow, warmer, warmer is still on Wednesday. We'll talk to Terry Smith about all this in about nine minutes right now. 43, add your official severe weather station, news radio 740, KTRH. It's time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders. Thank you, Jimmy. It's 531 on KTRH. Our top story, the president, not an auto pen, issuing parties for Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and others accused by the left of attempting to overturn the 2020 election. In his proclamation, Trump said that this quote ends a...

grave national injustice perpetrated on the American people. The left losing their mind over this, but House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer said they were silent when Joe Biden's auto pen pardoned thousands in January. To this day, Joe Biden's never talked about those thousands of pardons that were signed by the autopin in the last hours of his administration. Comer on Fox, but Biden did make an appearance this weekend and speaking in Omaha on Friday night. Actually, it wasn't really speaking. It was more like rambling and yelling at President Trump. You work for us, Mr. President. We don't work for you. Yeah, he also claimed Democrats were, quote, back after last week's election wins. Of course, didn't mention that they were in deep blue states like California and New York. It's now 532 on KTRH. On this vote, the yeas are 60 and the nays are 40. Three-fifths of the Senate duly chosen and sworn, having voted in the affirmative, the motion upon reconsideration is agreed to. Light at the end of the tunnel for the Chuck Schumer shutdown, eight Senate Democrats, including Dick Durbin, who's the number two Democrat in the Senate, folded. They vote with Republicans on a revamp plan to reopen the government. The Dems did not get the Obamacare funding they were looking for, only a promise for a future vote. The Senate Majority Leader, of course, well, he wasn't happy. We must fight because children who are dying of cancer will not get health care coverage. Remember, whatever the Senate passes this week must get through the House before it gets to the president's desk. That means the shutdown is not quite over yet. We've got 46 canceled flights at Bush, another 21 at Hobby due to the FAA restrictions. Coming up now on 534, Houston Mayor John Whitmire finally acknowledges that the city is cooperating with ICE. While speaking at a conference over the weekend, John Whitmire said he didn't want the city to go through the turmoil that we have seen in cities like Los Angeles, where masked anti-ice protesters have been an issue for months. DHS finally took a major step to stop it. Those protesters, they're no longer allowed to cover their faces. The new rule bans everything from masks to hoods for those violating the law at protests. They act with impunity because they feel like they're not going to be able to be identified. But now the federal government with this new law will be able to unmask them. Former HPD captain, Dr. Greg Freeman, says this makes it clear that this anti-ice violence won't be tolerated anymore. I hope these people were held to the fullest account of law and sentenced accordingly. And that should send the chilling effect of the other misfits that are out there that are wanting to commit violence. He added that cracking down on masked ed. will make everyone, including peaceful protesters, safer. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. Meantime, DHS says ICE agents were fired at during an operation in Chicago over the weekend. The shooter is still out there. Nobody was hit by the gunfire, but an officer was injured responding to what happened. It's 535. Investors are liking the potential end of the shutdown overnight futures are up more than 150 points. That said...

26:16

There might be trouble down the road. Fox News columnist Liz Peake says layoffs driven by artificial intelligence could spark. even more socialism. I think you're going to hear a lot about this. This is a huge area of investment. They're beginning to see that investment result to people not being hired or being fired. And I'm guaranteeing that this will be the sort of new Democratic socialist rally in crime. And with affordability, now the top issue for the majority of us, she says we can expect a major battle ahead over AI and more candidates like Zohran Mamdani. Speaking of Woke, pushback against a California gym for banning a real woman who stood up to a naked biological man in the women's locker room. I'm terminated for not wanting men in the locker room. The viral video displayed just another bit of leftist lunacy. The left is going to realize that they have backed... themselves into a corner. The snake is eating its own tail here. Fox's Tommy Laren says the Dems are inviting in white men who they despise and removing black women who they praise. Logan Washburn of the Dallas Express says for a party that empowers women, they have funny ways of showing it. What they're doing is saying the woman is wrong and we have to punish her by removing her from the gym. He says that people are waking up to this though. Finally, Andre Perard News Radio 740, KTRH. 536, the rise. Rockets get back on the winning track yesterday. Durant Crossover, left and dribble, against Turner, pulls up from 10 on the way and good. 11 of 15 for Kevin Durant, 115, 113, Houston. Matt Thomas on the call for Sports Talk 790. The Rockets beat the bucks in Milwaukee, 122 to 115. We've got three Texas teams in the AP top 25 now. Texas A&M is at number three. Tech is number eight, the Longhorns. Three spots, they move up to number 10, and they didn't play over the weekend. I'm Cliff Saunders on Houston's News Weather and Traffic Station, News Radio 740, KTRH. 5.30 at a time here in Houston's morning news right. Target is launching a flirty new rule called the 10-4 rule. I want to warn you about this because if you've been to a target, it's pretty rare to somebody from who works at the store will walk up to you and smile at you and, you know, act all friendly. So you might like a little warning before you get approached. Their 10-4 rule goes like this. It requires their workers to engage with the customer who's within close proximity. If they're within 10 feet of you, are you supposed to, do they have like a measuring stick? Or do they just, it looks like about 10 feet to me. They're within 10 feet of their, they're supposed to smile at you. And then if they get within 4 feet, they're supposed to make eye contact and wave or say hello. And then they have to ask if you need help finding anything or if you don't just say, you know, just a little, well, have a great day or whatever other little pleasantry that you want to throw along. In other words, Target is telling their employees how to behave like a human being because evidently that's a lost art. Target says, heading into the holiday, we're making adjustments and implementing new ways to increase connection during the most important time of the year. When you think about that, I mean, who are Targeted employees? They're probably Jin Ziers, right? They're probably young people who have not had a lot of experience. in things like customer service. They don't really, they're not used to approaching people they don't know. They're not used to being friendly to people they don't know. They're not used to smiling at people they don't know or interacting with people they don't know. They probably had to be told this. You know, they're on the phones all day. They don't know how to interact with a real live human being. The reason for doing it is not just because they want to appear to be more friendly. They want to make sure that they're not losing customers. In the middle of a holiday rush, customers less likely to be willing to cross the store multiple times to try to find an item or worker that seems to be approachable. So they want to make sure their workers are approachable so that they can answer any questions. In other words, they don't want them getting frustrated. The shoppers getting frustrated trying to find something in the store and not thinking there's anybody that they can approach to ask. 540, time for traffic and weather together. I actually have... Something not positive about Buckeys. It drives me crazy when you're looking. Yeah, no, I don't need you to go, hi, welcome to Buckees. And like five different people say it, just one person, hey, everybody, just smile, wave, just be cool. So you're saying, you're criticizing them for being too friendly. Well, I mean, it's just, it's obvious. Okay, here, supervision. It's supervision's fault. It is, it's compelled. So let's find a way to be friendly without making it a compelled thing. Oh, so you want it to be more natural? Just be natural. Hey, dude. I think the term these days is organic. I would like it to be more organic. Oh, yeah. That sounds kind of scientific, Terry. Let's go to the north side here. North Sam, Westbound. Yeah, authentic. Ooh, that's good. North Sam, Westbound after the Veterans Toll Plaza. I got this one here. It's a wreck. Everybody's okay. We're just pointing at things. It's two left lanes. If you're playing the home game with me, it's on camera 1117. I think it'll be out of there pretty quickly. But if you're coming over from the airport lookout, you got

32:27

North Freeway. Aha. Vehicle fire. Let's see, we had that first. That is a right lane block now. I think they're going to take extras. And we're backed up. This is outbound, not inbound. We're backed up from Louetta. Guitar, Dave, dude. So now that the government shutdown appears to be ending here, certainly within the next day or two, SNAP benefits are back on the table. But I don't think we're talking about, done talking about SNAP. I think one of the things that has happened as a result of all this is the knowledge of knowing just how many people are on snap that shouldn't be on snap and how much fraud and abuse is going on. So there's a real real. call here to reform the SNAP program. More on that coming up next. First, though, traffic and weather together as we check in the Skymike. I think there's an understanding that there needs to be some reform of the SNAP benefit program. There's a lot of fraud and abuse, people who are getting food stamps that shouldn't, people who are getting food stamps and selling them. And it's it's it's such an expensive program. We need to we need to get. We need to get our hands into this and fix what's wrong with it. Here is Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins. Her department is responsible for the SNAP program. Here's what she had to say about it. Listen, people want the government open. They want those who are the most vulnerable who are hungry to make sure that they are fed. That's the SNAP program. But within all of that, the level of fraud and corruption and double dipping and selling benefits is astounding. And I think it hit a nerve with America. To have our discussion, 40. million people watch it about how corrupt the SNAP program is, how we have to fix it. I think just tells you that Americans are paying attention and they're not okay with government as usual. We need to clean the house up and that's what we're doing. So the Center for Immigration Studies has found that's anywhere from 50 to 60% of households that are headed by illegal immigrants rely on SNAP benefits and other programs similar to that. Is there a problem with that? Well, we, at almost the very beginning, I think on my first day, I sent a letter to every governor in America saying, send us your data, no illegal aliens on any SNAP or Food Stamp or WIC program, period, full stop. Everyone said, oh, no, we're not doing that. It is illegal. I mean, it is not allowable. However, the 29 states, mostly red states that sent us their data, what we found was really astounding. And now we're in lawsuits to get the rest of the data so that we can work to fix this. There's no doubt that there is a massive, massive fraud in the program. But having said that, the Democrats have voted 15 times to not fund SNAP. There are legitimate families in this country that rely on that program to feed their family. We've got to get the government open. Well, looks like we're well on our way to get the government open at this point. Again, Senate voting last night, about 1030 last night, 60, 40. We've got eight Democrats to go along.

38:40

with reopening the government. Now it's got to go to the House. But I would think, you know, unless somebody in the House doesn't like the deal. It's a clean CR. I mean, I don't know what Democrats got other than a promise to take up the issue of health care benefits, but it's something they'd already said that they were willing to do. So it doesn't look to me like they gave up anything, which I'm pleasantly surprised at. It really happens. The Republicans stuck to their guns. 556 now here in Houston's morning news. Senate Majority Leader John Thune is Democrats fold after 40-plus days. It's now only a matter of time before the government shutdown is over. Probably later this week, the Senate broke a filibuster on a new GOP spending package, which will end the shutdown. The vote was 60 to 40.

41:13

The Senate needed all 60 of those yeas to break the filibuster. 52 Republicans and eight Democrats teamed up to greenlight the bill. Fox's Chad Pergram on Capitol Hill. Now, Democrats did not get the Obamacare subsidies they wanted. Only the promise of a future vote. This still needs to be approved by the House after the Senate finally votes on a full deal. This means the travel headaches could end soon as well, but today we've got 67 flights canceled between both. Bush and Hobby airports. Now, the Democrats hurt our national security during this shutdown. It actually forced the Trump administration to furlough nuclear weapons contractors. Well, we can't fall behind in terms of our national security. So this is starting to get very serious. Professor Jeff Atticott heads the Warrior Defense Project at St. Mary's University. Last week's election signaled a troubling turnout trend for Republicans, though. Election data guru Ryan Dersh, Ryan Gurdowski told Breitbart that many of Trump's 2024 voters just didn't show up. There is a big question over low propensity voters that voted for Donald Trump in part because they thought we need a change in our country. We don't like the way, especially the economy is being run. And he would change the economy one time and maybe he could do it again. And so far he's kind of been unable to. A dividend of at least $2,000 a person, not including high-income people, will be paid to everyone. Okay, well, a couple questions come to mind. How close is this to reality? Because I seem to recall a similar statement for the president on Doge, although he didn't really promise the Doge cuts. He mentioned that maybe we could end up getting a check. because of Doge, you know, that he was going to share a portion of the savings with Americans, but I think it turned out that they didn't cut as much stuff as maybe he thought was going to get cut. This sounds more like a promise that he's going to send most Americans at least $2,000 thanks to tariff income. Now, I don't know what the president means by...

48:40

The qualifier he put on people who make a very good living. I don't know what he considers to be the highest income earners because he did say that the dividend would not include high income people. What in the president's world is high income people? Is that somebody making... $500,000 a year or more? Somebody making a million dollars a year or more? Somebody making $400,000? What is high-income people? So that part, I guess, would have to be figured out. And, of course, we'll have to wait and see if it actually does happen. Yeah, we've seen plenty of anarchy in our nation cities. Mercifully, we've not seen it in Houston. And how refreshing was it, by the way, to hear Mayor John Whitmire say, yeah, we're cooperating with ice. Nuff said, we're cooperating. Clearly, they're cooperating. There have been thousands of ICE arrest here in the city of Houston. You don't do and hear about any huge protests going on or demonstrations with masked individuals riding in the streets? Says a lot about who we are, I think. Dr. Greg Freeman. HPD captain retired joins us. Let's start with the cooperation thing. How refreshing is that to hear that we have a Democrat mayor who's cooperating with ICE? I think it's amazing, Jimmy, and thank you for having me on. And what you just said strikes at the point of who we are as Houstonians. We have never had anything like this happen in our city. While other cities burned historically for the last 40 or 50 years with social and civil unrest, Houston has remained relatively common. It has a lot to do with the leadership. and the history of our police department here. No, you're right. Also, we have this new rule that the federal government, evidently, is ready to go ahead and enforce. It wasn't supposed to go into effect until January, but I guess it's going into effect immediately. If you're an anti-ice agitator, if you're there protesting, if you are wearing a mask, you'll be arrested for no other purpose than the fact that you're wearing a mask attempting to conceal your identity. I think it's an amazing piece of federal legislation. And one thing that we've known to be true about these protesters, and I've seen this firsthand, you have a very small percentage of people that truly are protesting your First Amendment right to come out to these venues. And they really are. But embedded within these groups, you have a large contingency of criminals. You have agitators from ICE. You've got anarchists. You've got people that just simply hate the police and you have criminals. And there's a lot of anonymity when you put a mask on, and there's a lot of psychology, Jimmy, behind this, that emboldens them to do things that they wouldn't normally do. So being able to unmask them immediately and unseal who they really are is going to strike fear in their hearts immediately. And I think you'll see a large reduction in these protests, especially at these ICE facilities. Well, I think, too, what people will find, assuming that the protesting continues, that we're arresting the same people over and over and over again. It's not like we've got thousands of people who are participating in these protests. We've got the same people protesting over and over again. No, that's exactly right. And our intelligence has clearly shown these people are paid protesters being funded by Soros and other left-wing radical organizations. And they're traveling from city to city to city. They have a vast network. They communicate effectively. And it's an organization that's doing this. There's no doubt about that. So is part of the solution here, Dr. Freeman, to not just out the protesters, but to out the money source of these protesters to make sure everybody understands where this money is coming from. And can we prosecute groups that are willing to spend money to pay protesters to agitate and to cause violence?

57:28

Absolutely. And the fact that the federal government and this administration just declared Antifa, a terrorist organization, once you start finding out sources of money that's coming into that, they are co-conspirators on that federal level as well. And you will see a large reduction in the people that are doing this because once you do expose who they are and they realize that they're looking at federal jail time, which we know that they're going to serve 90% of the sentences. And wait to these people that have just been recently arrested over the last several months for interfering. and assaulting federal officers when their cases go to court and their sentences become known, it's going to send shockwaves through that community because they're going to realize that the government means business. All right, Dr. Freeman, always good to talk to you, sir. Thank you. That is HPD, Captain Retired, Dr. Greg Freeman. Your countries are going to have Trump shutdown. Antifa would be Trump assassin Ryan Ruth guilty on all. It's always something. I forgive him. On News Radio 740, KTRH. So Governor Greg Abbott, evidently his dream is to have a fourth term as governor. So he's going to run again. He's pledging to deliver at least 10 billion in new property tax cuts. Blasting Harris County for exploiting loopholes to hike rates. Well, how about we create legislation where we don't have loopholes? Sunday's speech also previewed a sweeping overhaul the property tax system rooted in voter control and fiscal restraint. He said no taxing entity should be able to raise your property taxes without two-thirds approval by voters. No approval, no new taxes. Well, it's a great, we're all in favor of lower property taxes, right? But wouldn't it be great to get rid of property taxes? Can we find a different way to? fund state government other than property taxes, especially on the backs of seniors who they school property taxes for something they haven't used for 20, 30 or 40 years, maybe in many cases. But how do you feel in general this morning? Let's keep it simple. How do you feel about Governor Greg Abbott running for fourth term? Are you happy about that? Are you... thinking that maybe it might be time for some new blood. Can't we do something a little bit different? Governor Greg Abbott has had three terms as the Governor of Texas. Maybe it's time for somebody else. Your thoughts? You go to the I-Hard radio app. KTRH hit the talk bad button. First name where you're coming from and your thoughts on Governor Greg Abbott going for a fourth term. Dave on Lake Conroe. Yeah, Governor Greg Abbott, I can handle him for four more years. You know. First name, where are you calling from your thoughts on Governor Greg Abbott running for fourth term? And by the way, if you think it's time for new blood, and that's fine.

thinks he was singing this to Chuck Schumer. He's not happy, that's for sure. He's not happy. The Democrats are no longer together. They're not voting in solidarity. They're not in lockstep with each other. Some of them are actually thinking for themselves and thinking this government shutdown is not a good thing. We need to stop this. One of them is Senator Maggie Hassan, I think that's how she pronounces it, from New Hampshire. Here she is at a press conference last night after the vote, explaining why she did what she did. At a time when families desperately need relief, Washington's dysfunction is making life harder for families. And the last 39 days are proof of that. A record-long government shutdown paired with record high health insurance costs increases is not the kind of history that the American people want Congress to make. Over the last several weeks, I've heard from granite staters who can't afford a doubling of their health insurance costs. I've also heard from families about the deep pain that the government shutdown has caused, made worse. by a president who illegally and repeatedly chose to cut off help for families who are just trying to buy groceries. After weeks of bipartisan conversations, I voted today to reopen the government so that we can get back to the work of helping granite staters. This agreement funds SNAP and food assistance programs, ensures that law enforcement, air traffic controllers, and other federal workers get paid, reverses the president's recent reckless layoffs and prevents them from happening. in the future and crucially gives congress a clear path forward to protecting people's health care well what it does is it does it funds snap through 2026 it's it funds air traffic control through 2026 so those things are now off the table this c r which i guess the rest of it runs like through the end of january assuming gets passed by the house would take those things off the table those would no longer be threats as part of any potential second government shutdown if a grievance cannot be made. There's no agreement in there for health care other than the health care will be tackled and there will be a vote taken, but there's no guarantees that anything is going to happen to change who's covered under Obamacare or the subsidies for Obamacare. So it's a pretty... it's pretty much a Republican victory. I mean, if you want to look at it that way, it's pretty much a Republican victory. All right, time for the timeline. What have we got? We have a, oh, by the way, brought you by Kelsey Seabold Clinic, four pack of tickets to Alley Theater's presentation of Charles Dickens, a Christmas carol, running November 16th through December 28th at the Allie Theater.

It looks like we're getting closer to the shutdown ending. President Trump on his return to the White House last night as eight Senate Democrats fold and take a step towards ending the shutdown. Eight Democrats have voted with Republicans to greenlight the bill. The bill funds the government through late January, and it funds three sections of government through next fall. There is nothing in the bill to offset rising health care costs. Democrats demanded money for health care aid before voting to fund the government, but Democrats walked away with nothing despite their shutdown gambit. Fox's chat program on Capitol Hill, remember the House still has to approve whatever the Senate sends them before this all ends. The Senate move comes after Trump pushed to end the filibuster, a plan that Texas's John Cornyn had not totally gone all in for. I think he's more of a traditionalist. He says, let's not change things to take care of ourselves today because they could come back and harm us tomorrow. And it's a very smart approach, but it disagrees with Trump. Political consultant Bill Miller says this could hurt John Cornyn's chances of getting Trump's endorsement. In the meantime, we still have travel issues. 67 flights already canceled between Bush and Hopi this morning. And this won't surprise you. The mainstream media played defense for the Dems during the shutdown. As Bill D'Agostino notes for the Media Research Center and NewsBusters, it's been all about defending the Democrats.

1:20:43

Fairly remarkable. The media are basically trying to exonerate Democrats from any amount of culpability they have in this shutdown. And the research shows the numbers don't lie. What we found was that there were only 12 instances where anybody on one of these three broadcast networks actually mentioned that it was Senate Democrats causing the government shutdown. Instead, it's 87% pro-democrat coverage. Jeff Andy Biggs News Radio 740, KTRH. It is now 704 on KTRH. This is the place where I first ran for public office. We won Harris County then, and we are going to win Harris County again this election. Greg Abbott making it official right here in Houston last night, announcing his run for an historic fourth term as governor. It comes after voters passed all 17 propositions on last week's ballot. Filing for the midterms continues, and Harris County GOP is working overtime to recruit candidates for multiple judicial positions. We actually have a great slate of candidates. Lots of great experience, background. We're real thrilled with how it's shaping up. But that said, we have the longest ballot in the country. Party chair Cindy Sigel, the candidate filing deadline is December 8th. Elsewhere after last week's Democrat wins in blue states, California governor gas. Gavin Newsom came here to Houston to take a victory lap. We're dealing with an invasive species by the name of Donald Trump. California passed Prop 50 retaliation for redistricting here in Texas. The new maps may impact the midterms next year, but that won't matter if the GOP doesn't learn from last week. 705, looking at your money, if President Trump gets his way, you're going to reap the benefits of tariffs. 1:24:56

American Social Casino. Well, let's float this idea past to see what you think. By the way, 708, our time here in Houston's morning news, President Trump is proposing that we have 50-year mortgages. Wow, 50-year mortgage. What would that end up costing? You've looked at the amortization sheet, right when you buy a house, you get a 30-year home loan, which very few people pay off. I guess that's the idea. You get somebody who's young and they're just their first house. They're not going to be paying that off anyway. But I'll get into the downside of this other than that in just a second. That's locking you in for 50 years on a mortgage. Wow, are you ever going to pay off that house? Are you ever going to own that home? If you're 30 years old... You get a 50-year loan and you don't move again. You stay in that house. It would take you to 80 to pay the thing off. Is this a good idea or not? You know, there was not a 30-year home loan before FDR. That's part of the New Deal was 30-year home loans. They hadn't existed. Before then, now President Trump is proposing a 50-year loan. Here's economist Steve Moore tackling the issue. Here's what would happen if you have these 50-year mortgages. Your monthly mortgage payment would go down, right? Charlie, because you're paying that mortgage over 50 years rather than, say, 20 or 30 years. So if you want to make housing more affordable in the very short term... That might be a good way to bring down monthly mortgage payments, but then you're going to pay for a long, long time. You're going to be paying that mortgage payment for most of your life. And so that's a question of whether it makes sense financially to people. But right now, where people are really struggling. to find a home where they can meet those mortgage payments, it might make sense for people. By the way, the federal government should also be issuing 50-year debt because interest rates are low. It would be a way for us to lock in low interest rates so that if we had a huge spike in interest rates in the future, we wouldn't be in a real problem situation financially. And so, of course, if you had a 50-year mortgage after 30 years, the way banks structure loans, you probably still wouldn't own. but about 10% actually own, but about 20% of your house. That's a good point. That's a good point. You know, you want to build up equity in your home. That's why a lot of people, you know, when they have the financial means to do so, they speed up their mortgage payments. But listen, the problem with our housing situation right now really is so many restrictions on building multifamily homes in a lot of areas. By the way, I can tell you one city in America where housing prices are going to go way down. You know what city that is? What's that? New York City, because everybody's going to move out. Right, exactly. So if you want to buy a house, maybe think about doing it in New York. No, thanks. Don't need a communist mayor. Thank you very much. Yeah, the downside is the home equity part of you. You don't build up the home equity, which is what gives you your down payment for the next home that you buy. It takes a lot longer to do it, take a lot longer to pay it off. You lower your payments.

1:28:11

But that's about the only good thing that comes out of that. 7-11, time for traffic and weather together. I shudder to think what the ghetto house will look like in 50 years. Well, there's that, too. Imagine the amount of work you're going to put into that house halfway through the time you ordered. I think it would look like a totally different house. You know, it'd be like Soldier Field in Chicago. Let's go to East Tech's Freeway. They cleared whatever that squish was at cross timbers. It looked like we had a minor accident for a while. Still a lot of breaks now from Lauder passing the cemeteries. We're having a little fun on this. This ramp on the North Freeway, North Sam, that interchange. And it looks like we've got a wreck here right off of Ella on the westbound that's messing up your ramp that's going outbound. I know your head hurts from 45 coming up from Gallery. RH, top tax defenders 24-hour weather, Senator Terry Smith is with us. You look out the window and it looks so nice and inceasible until you walk out the door. And then Mother Nature says, gotcha. Yeah, it's a bit chilly out there this morning. And we have, fortunately, it's not a big, gusty breeze, but it's a little gusty at times. And so we're feeling the chill this morning. And later on you can get rid of it because temperatures will be in the 80s by the end of the week. Today we'll top out upper 50s to low 60s. So it is running cool and especially with a little bit of a breeze now and then you're going to notice it. We're still chilly tonight. Mid-30s to mid-40s tonight, but tomorrow begins the warm up. They will take whatever time they have to take in order to make a decision on whether or not President Trump, as chief executive of this country, can, on an emergency basis. put in tariffs. It is the job of Congress as relates to tariffs, but is there a loophole here that the president can sneak through? And by the way, if the Supreme Court rules against him, what could happen next in order to prevent that tariff ability from going away? Well, we'll get into all that here. Tom Dupree. And Taylor Riggs, she's from the Big Money Show on Fox Business. Tom Dupree, former Deputy Assistant Attorney General, on the Supreme Court considering what Trump and cannot do.

1:34:04

with those tariffs? I would say, first of all, that although I realize some listeners may have found it boring for me listening to that argument and all the constitutional phrases being bandied back and forth was like a double jolt of caffeine. I loved it. And look, what the Supreme Court is wrestling with is, as President Trump correctly noted, an absolutely critical question. And it goes to your point, whether Congress actually gave the president the power to impose these tariffs. And so the justices asked hard questions of both sides. Look, they pushed the administration's lawyers saying, where do you see the language in the law that gave Trump the power to do what he did? But they also pushed back against the people challenging the tariff, saying that, look, the president was acting in his role as commander-in-chief as controller of our foreign policy, and maybe he gets a bit more leeway in that context. But the bottom line is that the court did seem to doubt that Congress gave the president such broad authority. And look, if the court ultimately says Trump went too far, You're absolutely right. He has other statutes he could rely on to impose tariffs or Congress could simply ratify what the president has already done. All right, Taylor, assume arguendo the worst case scenario. Revenue, trade deals, lots of really hard work the president put into this could be all for naught. So what happens if the court says they relied on the wrong statute? Does the money have to be returned? And if so, to whom? And is it going to be unsettling for the markets? Yeah, you know, that's a great question. We're looking at what could be north of $100 billion looking to be returned. I think that's worst case scenario, people trying to figure out if the court deems this attacks on businesses or attacks on consumers, how do you start to redistribute the refunds of all of that? I don't think anyone wants to try to think about how that goes. I think that good news, though, Trey, is that markets and business leaders want certainty. So if the Supreme Court says, go for it, this is okay. Markets and business leaders and corporations say, great, I can plan for that. If the Supreme Court says, no, the president overstepped and you can't do this, business leaders and corporations in the market will say, great, I can plan for that, right? They just need clarity in either direction. So they just, business just needs a decision. Wall Street just wants a decision one way or another. The idea, though, of giving back $150 billion, I mean, that doesn't seem like the world's easiest thing to do. Maybe the Supreme Court would rule that he didn't have to give the money back, but he can't do the tariffs any longer, or maybe they'll rule in his favor. We just don't know. Thank you, Jimmy, 731 on KTRH. Our top story, it was not an auto pen. It was President Trump himself issuing pardons for Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and others accused by Democrats of attempting to overturn the 2020 election. In his proclamation, the president said that this quote ends a grave national injustice perpetrated on the American people. The left, of course, is losing their mind over this, but... House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said they were silent when Joe's auto pen pretty much pardoned thousands in January. To this day, Joe Biden's never talked about those thousands of pardons that were signed by the auto pen in the last hours of his administration. That was Comer on Fox. And speaking of the former president, we had a siding over the weekend where he was supposed to speak, but it sounded more like he was just rambling and yelling at Donald Trump. You know, I guess I'm surprised that Governor Greg Abbott's running for a fourth term. Well, let me take that back. Not so much surprised that he's running for a fourth term that he hasn't gotten a different gig, either with the Trump administration or I don't know if he's been offered anything or hasn't been offered anything. Or does it not interested in a federal position? Biden is biding his time, hoping that someday he can run for president. I don't know, but I do know he's running for a fourth term. And as somebody who is not the world's biggest fan of Governor Greg Abbott, I mean, he has his pros, he has his cons. In the past, at least he's not been as strong as I would like him to be, certainly. Maybe you feel the same way. You know, we have a tendency to think of the alternative. Well, he'd be better than better all right. Well, yeah, obviously. But is he the best Texas Republican to be governor? Do we want another four-year term from Greg Abbott, or do we want to try somebody new, some new blood? He's not really giving us a choice here. He's got deep pockets. He's got plenty of donors. If he decided to be the Republican nominee, he will be the Republican nominee. So it will be Greg Abbott. And you either vote for Greg Abbott or you vote for the Democrat, and we all know how that's likely to turn out. But I wanted to get your thoughts this morning. on Greg Abbott going for fourth term. Would you rather see somebody new, some new blood? Do you have somebody else in mind that you would rather see? Are you perfectly happy with Governor Greg Abbott? What are your thoughts? There's no doubt that I'm very proud of Governor Greg Abbott and the amazing work he has done in his almost 12 years in office as our governor. He has always led Texas in the right direction, direction on the border. and an education and a lot of issues. Yes, there's still a lot of work to be done on poverty taxes. And honestly, I will not be happy until poverty taxes are fully eliminated. So unless there is someone better than Greg Abbott who will campaign on eliminating taxes and follow through with it, my vote is still with Greg Abbott. David and the task Casillas, I'm okay with Greg Abbott coming back for another term. I would like to see a good, vibrant primary process happen and let him earn it. not just walk in and not have anybody go up against him. John Daly here. You know what day it is? Neither do I. I think there's going to be a lot of people who are like that last guy. I'm okay if Greg Abbott is going to be governor for another four years. Am I excited about it? I'm certainly more happy about it than the idea that we could have a Democrat in the office for sure. But I think a lot of us think that, yeah, there's bound to be something better, but what that better is, we don't know. 7.40, time for traffic and weathered together. I like consistency, though, you know? I mean, the only thing I hate... You like consistently bad? No, no, just consistently. Because that's consistent, too. Well, I know, but I like to know, you know, a known element. The only thing I hate more than change is hope. I think we should get Lance from... I think we should get Lance from Magnolia to be the governor, though. You're dashing my hope this morning, that's for sure. I'm killing the clock while I'm at it. We're looking at 249 southbound. Got some breaks here from Will... of Brook Mall down to the north. Sam looks an extra two or three minutes here. You got that road work. Oh, Terry, speaking of you, I got your golf ball over here. And I sent you, I sent you some video Saturday, right? On the way to my gig. All right, this is eastbound right around the golf ball. We've got some breaks now. I don't know. They're doing science stuff up in there. On the roads, we're clearing up an earlier wreck that was just past Gosling. Everybody's okay. We're just about finished pointing at things. And we've got an extra. nine or ten minutes going that way. On the West Park tollway, should we keep Eddie Martini on it? Yes, we're all right this morning. We're good. Mission Ben, some breaks. No big whoop here. Oh, look out. Southwest Freeway. New wreck. We always get these coming out of the loop where that merging craziness happens. It's messing up your ramp that goes down from uptown outbound, not inbound on the southwest. I know your head hurts. We've got breaks now from Hillcroft in. I'm Skymike. Our H generator Supercenter 24-hour weather, so I've got hope for warmer days ahead, and I don't have to wait too long to see that hope become reality, do I? No, you don't. We got this big dose of cold air today, and then it just slowly... defrosts across our part of the state. It really does warm up nicely. The other thing that comes back is humidity. And I have to say, as long as the humidity isn't crazy out of whack, I really do appreciate a little bit of humidity. It just feels so much nicer to be outside. Today, at least we're sunny, but that northerly wind's going to keep the temperatures in check. Like, we're not going very far today. Upper 50s to low 60s. That's as good as it's going to get. It is still going to be cold tonight, mid-30s to mid-40s tonight. But then the wind shift, we still have sunshine, and the warm-up gets underway tomorrow. And it continues the next couple of days. Low to mid-70s tomorrow, 80, around 80 on Wednesday. Low to mid-80s Thursday. and temperatures close to 80 on Friday. Right now, 43 at your officials, Severe Weather Station, News Radio 740, KTRH. We have a, I called him a former Marine. You're never, Aaron Wright, you're never really a former Marine, right? Once a Marine, you're always a Marine. That's right. Yeah, once a Marine, always a Marine. And now you would like to be Texas Attorney General. Man, that's a crowded field to get into. What makes you want to run for Attorney General? Well, look, I mean, I think it's great that we are formally filing for my candidacy on the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps because when the stakes are high and when the fight is hot, our country sends in the Marines. That's what we do. Okay. We are the United States lethal fighting edge, the tip of the spear. And the reason why I'm running for Texas Attorney General is because we are in an existential conflict with the forces of the left. And I know from personal experience that the primary arena in which we're fighting these dark forces is the justice system. We need battle-tested, battle-hardened Marines who have proven themselves litigating, investigating, suing, defending, and appealing on all the major issues that determine really the future of our country and the state of Texas. And I'm the only one in this crowded field who's been in legal combat for years and years.

1:54:19

fighting against and winning against the left in court and throughout the justice system. That's why I'm running. You know, it's one thing to have to fight against the federal government when the federal government is being run by the left. Right now, it's a little bit easier thanks to having the Trump administration there. But as we get more and more people moving here from California and maybe from New York now that they've decided they're going to go communists with their next mayor, it might be a little bit tougher here too, right? For sure, yeah, no doubt. Look, I was Attorney General Ken Paxton's deputy for three years fighting against the Biden administration. Paxson has endorsed me to succeed him as the next Attorney General of Texas, and that's because of my record suing the Biden administration. In fact, I sued the 46 president 46 times, and I won 85% of those cases. Now, you're exactly right, though, Jimmy. We've got an ally in the White House. I just came from the presidentially appointed Senate-confirmed role as the head of the office of legal policy in Trump's Justice Department. And so there's no greater friend as the next AG of Texas who can partner with the Trump administration, with the Justice Department, with the Department of Homeland Security to bring those benefits, resources, and focus to benefit Texas as a whole. But you're also exactly right. We've got these deep blue pockets in Texas, the big blue cities. the big blue counties in particular where a lot of your listeners are at here in Harris County and in the city of Houston. There is so much fraud, waste, abuse, criminality, just absolute chaos and corruption that's happening. And the attorney general is going to play a critical role in smoking out that corruption, holding corrupt public officials responsible, and ensuring that our big blue pockets. in Texas, which you're getting bluer and bluer by the day for the same reasons as you just said. We need a chief legal officer of Texas who's going to come bring the heat to these guys, and there's nobody better that's able to do that than me. Heck, fighting corruption in Harris County is a full-time job in and of itself. We've only got a few seconds left, but as we mentioned, it is a crowded field, and you have some people like Chip Roy with name recognition. So obviously, Coming on our program and other programs to get attention is a good idea. What other things can you do to try to make inroads when you're running against relatively big names? Yeah, I think the only big name in this race really is Chip Roy. There are other two locals who folks in the Harris County area may know, but really their campaigns are floundering and they're not running credible campaigns. The issue here is who is best qualified to serve as the next chief legal officer of Texas. And my record, litigating, investigating, suing, defending, and appealing on all the major issues. which be head and shoulders above the competition. And even if I were to grant that Chip Roy has higher name ID, which of course he does. He's been in Congress blasting the president, blasting MAGA voters. trying to get Ken Paxton removed from office. His high name ID, the flip side of that coin is he's got catastrophically bad negatives. He called for President Trump to be impeached in January at 2021. He sided with Mike Pence to certify the stolen election of 2020. He was the first elected official in the United States to call for Ken Paxton to be removed from office. This is somebody who is too unstable and eagomaniacal to be trusted as the next Attorney General of Texas. And I guarantee you that President Trump will not be happy when if he

1:57:36

He's elected as the AG because of how many times he's backstabbed the president's supporters as well as President Trump. If Texans want what President Trump called be a true MAGA attorney, vote for Aaron Wrights for Attorney General, Aaron Wrights.com, R-E-I-T-Z. We got it. We got to run. Thank you, Aaron.
