Texas Congressman Chip Roy reacting to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was called for a full travel ban on countries flooding the U.S. with immigrants after last week's shooting of two national guardsmen near the White House. Coming to the United States of America is a privilege. It is not a right. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on Fox. Now, could this have all been prevented? The State Department Inspector General warned two years ago at the federal government special visa program for Afghans. quote, relies on Taliban cooperation, end quote. Meantime, it's Election Day in Tennessee and Republican Matt Van Epps is in a tight congressional race with radical Democrat Afton Bain. She wants transgender surgery for minors without parental consent, believes that men can get pregnant and just, you know, crazy. Van Epps with KTRH's Clay Travis and Buck Sexton. Now, keep in mind, this was a district Trump won last year by 20 points. But now it's close. This is not a seat that should even be on the map for Democrats. That's Aaron Evans, president of winning Republican strategies who says a Democrat win would send shockwaves through Washington. If the Democrats win, I definitely think that there's some serious conversations that are going to be had, especially focusing in on the midterms. KT rates. Closer to home, Troy Nels's retirement from Congress makes it six Texas Republicans leaving Washington. Rice's Mark Jay Jones says the Dems are unlikely to win those seats in the midterms, especially Nelses District. This is a race where regardless of who the Republican candidate is, they're going to win in November of 2026. Jay Jones says that Nils's twin brother, Trevor, is a shoe-in for that race. Harris County Democrats are still at odds with Houston Mayor John Whitmire, moving ahead with an attempt to ban him from ever again receiving the party's endorsement. Too many of the loud faces and voices are pushing a radical left agenda. Mayor John Whitmire is not doing that. Instead, he is focusing on safer streets, keeping taxes low, aiding first responders, things of that nature. Jared Woodfield with the conservative Republicans of Texas says this is just going to end up hurting the local Democrat party more than it will ever hurt the mayor. It's now 504. Minnesota governor, Democrat Tim Walz, facing a massive fraud scandal with millions of dollars said to be missing from programs like the housing stabilization services. And many are blaming the Somali community under allegations they're funding the terrorist group, Al-Shabaab. They were doing things like faking autism diagnoses, faking autism treatment plans, opening up fraudulent autism centers. Manhattan Institute senior fellow Chris Rufo says the damage is worse than what's being reported. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has lost a federal investigation into this as well. Dow Futures are up this morning. This follows a down day on Wall Street. Meantime reports indicate that National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett. is the frontrunner to take over the Fed when Jerome Powell finally leaves next year. Affordability is the new buzzword. It's all over the mainstream media. Democrats say it all the time. Very few people actually understand what affordability is. Unfortunately, there isn't any one solution to solve a multifaceted affordability issue. It's a soup. It's a very complicated soup. It's all these little microeconomic stories from everybody's household and political perception. Financial planner Richard Rosso says tackling individual prices will be the key to solving affordability. We've got one group that likes steak and now can't buy it. That to them is affordability. But to me, it's something else. And that's why it's so hard to figure out the problem. We've gone, Halloween, I've kind of given up on the Halloween thing. I have to bet I saw a video the other day of somebody who dressed up their little chihuahua like Chucky. You know, from the horror films and sent it out to scare the crap out of their other dog, which is a pit bull. It was pretty funny. The pit bull just freaked out over the chihuahua that looked like Chuckie. But when we start getting into Christmas sweaters, mistletoe dole-bops, all that kind of stuff. Can we kind of admit to each other that maybe the whole dressing, the family dog thing has gone too far? I'm not going to bring cats into this. If you decide that you want to try to wrestle with your cat, I'm not the world's biggest cat fan. I'm pretty sure that at least one of my cats at home that loves my wife but can barely tolerate me is plotting secretly to kill me in my sleep. So I'm not worried about whether or not we want to put a Christmas sweater on her. She deserves to have a Christmas sweater. But for the dog, I would never do that to swipe her. My dog, he'd be willing to do it because he'll do almost anything to please me, but I wouldn't do it to him. But I find this very interesting. The top 15 cities where pet parents most likely to make their pets dress up for the holidays include number one, Midland, Texas. Number one, Dickinson, City, Pennsylvania, Lexington, Kentucky, Amarillo came in number four. Johnson City, Tennessee, Winter Garden, Florida. Lubbock came in number seven. In the top ten, that's three Texas cities, most likely to dress up their dog for the holidays for Christmas. Pensacola, Florida came in number eight.

Florence, Kentucky, number nine, Athens, Georgia, number 10, Portland, Oregon, number 11, West Jim Jordan, Utah, number 12, Antioch, California, 13th, Roseville, Michigan, that's a suburb of Detroit, came in 14th, in Cape Coral, Florida. Overall, pet smart says 90% of pet parents planning to involve their pets and holiday festivities. I'll give my pet a stocking with goodies, but I'm not going to put a Christmas sweater on them. And by the way, What do you think, this is just a guess, because this is not a part of the survey, what do you guess the dog most likely to end up in a holiday costume would be? My vote's going to Chihuahuas. And I'm not quite sure, because Chihuahuas are kind of mean. I'm not quite sure why they're not fighting back. 5-10, time for traffic and weathered together? What has happened? Just yesterday. What's happening today? Happening. Like now what happens. The things are happening. Stop right here. On News Radio 740, KTRH. So does FBI director Kash Patel have a vanity problem. There's a story in the New York Post written by Miranda Devine. And the story kind of goes along the lines of demands that Kash Patel made right before he spoke at the news conference after the Charlie Kirk assassination. Megyn Kelly and her guest on her podcast were talking about the story. And a little... intimated a little bit about the story itself and maybe about the motivation behind the story. Mostly it's focusing on Kash Patel. And the thing that they're really zeroing in on is what they say is like a vanity, I guess of his, a vanity. They talk about when he flew out to the Charlie Kirk staging, like the FBI staging in the wake of it. He was insistent on getting an FBI jacket brought to him on board the plane before he disembarked and that he apparently did not have his own, quoting here, FBI raid jacket with him. He refused to step from the plane without wearing one. That FBI special agents at the Salt Lake City Field Office busy working on the Kirk Case quote had to stop and ask around to find an FBI raid jacket, a medium-sized one that would fit. When a jacket belonging to a female agent was delivered to Kash Patel on the plane, he complained that, quote, two areas on the upper sleeves did not have Velcro patches attached. And then... He would not leave the plane, quote, until he had two patches to cover those areas, quote, so members of an FBI SWAT team took patches off of their uniforms and ran those patches over to Kash Patel at the airport. The patches were then attached to the loner FBI raid jacket, and Kash Patel disembarked from the plane. It's a very negative story. It's a very negative report. So. You got to ask yourself, you know, how did this thing get done? And how did it end up with Miranda? And how did Miranda decide to write it up? These are not the only stories like this about Kash Patel. There's other stories, but most of them have circulated in, you know, places like the Washington Post in New York Times. So it's a bit of a mystery. But you've seen the same things with... with Pete Hegseth, and to some extent with Christyneau, which is, you just, again, it's not, it's not liberal media. It's people who love the president, who care about the president, who are using different outlets, in this case, the New York Post to put out there, there's problems. It's hard to escape the conclusion that the people are motivated by desire to get the president to make a change in personality. It's not done that yet. Interesting.

So the theory here is that because it's being written in a more conservative publication by somebody, in this case Miranda Devine, who is friendly to the Trump administration, that she's probably being fed information from people who are close to President Trump, who don't think that Kash Patel, for example, is the right person to be FBI director, or don't think that Pete Hegseth is the right person to be head of the Department of War. and are trying to embarrass them in an attempt to get the president to make a change. That would make more sense. Now, I don't know enough about the job that Kash Patel's doing, or Pete Hegseth, for example, to judge whether or not they're right. and whether or not there should be a change made, but clearly there are people that are supportive of the president that are not supportive of some of his cabinet choices. 526. They're trying to ensure eligibility for refunds, see if the Supreme Court strikes down the president's signature global tariffs. The nation's biggest warehouse club chain is among dozens of companies to file lawsuits in a U.S. trade court since late October. The Trump administration urged the Supreme Court to take up Bears' appeal, targeting thousands of lawsuits, blaming its top-selling Roundup weed killer for causing cancer. More on that. at 6 a.m. The president, as promise, has released the results of an MRI that he had as part of his physical. He did get a clean bill of health. The same can't be said of the mainstream media as the White House is fighting fake news in new ways, creating a media offender of the week websites. It's funny, harmless, and an impactful way to put a spotlight on bias. It is not a threat to their lives to point out when a reporter or news outlet is not doing its job or putting out bias stories. Curtis Halk of NewsBusters says this was a good time to do this with the news cycle at a fever pitch, but don't expect it to change the tune of the liberal legacy media. More obscure liberal blogs or certain individual journalists, they will take this as a badge of honor and try to run with it. He says they'll likely use it to solicit donations from the radical base. Andre Parrard News Radio 740, KTRH. Coming up on 535 and here at home, Houston police opened fire on an armed robbery suspect on the north side. Male suspect had the employee at gunpoint and using her as a shield. Upon exiting the business, our officer responded to the threat of the suspect and fired his weapon multiple times, striking the suspect. The bad guys in the hospital. Eastside home invasion, apparently a homeowner and the bad guy are shot. We're waiting for more details on that this morning. Fort Bend ISD is going to unveil elementary school boundary scenarios and new middle school attendance zones on December 15th. The district accelerated this after the parents demanded earlier access to the information. Clearly they are listening to the community by putting these. special meetings and agendas together. So we appreciate that. That paired with our TV partner channel too. Now the rules for Texas' school choice program, which will launch next year, are now out. And while they seem like a good start, we are already seeing some calls for improvement. Get rid of that requirement for schools to be accredited for two years. This is basically a barrier to market entry. If you're a new school provider, a micro school, things that can be very useful in rural areas. Corey DeAngelis with the American Culture Project says overall it's a great pilot program for school choice. About two-thirds of registered voters say four-year college degrees aren't worth the cost. That's up from about half eight years ago.

Workplace expert Jennifer Jay Jones says it's a familiar story now for college graduates. They're in debt. They're coming out and they've got, you know, the job salaries are not where they thought they would be. And of course, there are the advancements we've seen in AI, which has had an impact on this. The summer's deadly hill country flooding is leading to more oversight of summer camps and camp owners are in sticker shock over the proposed hike and license fees. Of course, it's all relative, right? Compared to what they're dealing with up north, this is no big deal. Some of us are actually, I've actually learned to like colder weather. I've, with eight Houston summers under my belt, 39 doesn't seem so bad anymore. This has got a nice little break from the heat. And actually gave my air conditioning arrest, although my air conditioner was running right before Thanksgiving. Here's the question. And this is the thing you argue about every winter. I don't care who you are, where you live, what household you're in. There's always a tussle over the thermostat. There's a tussle here at the radio station over the thermostat. Every now and again, somebody will precede me who has the temperature set for like 80 degrees. I don't know if he suffers from senior citizen syndrome or what the story is, but 80 degrees you come in here. It's like a sauna in here. So I turn that thing down to 72.

But for the winter months, I like it a little bit cooler. So I have, I mean, not that I follow what the U.S. Department of Energy tells me to do. They want you to set your thermostat for heat to 68 degrees. When you're asleep or out of the house, they want you to drive it even lower. Now, I will say this. There is plenty of studies who show that sleeping is much better if it's around 65, 66 degrees. You will actually sleep better if you keep your thermostat lower when you're sleeping. So the bedroom is set for 65 at our house right now. The rest of the house is set for 68. not because the U.S. Department of Energy is telling you this, but because I know from practical experience that 68 is warm enough, you can always grab a blanket if you're cold, and that I do sleep better when the temperature is cooler. I always sleep better in the winter than I do in the summer months. But I'm just kind of curious because everybody's different. My wife and I agree on the temperature. That's rare. Usually you have one person who's always hot and the other person who's always cold. You're always arm wrestling over the thermostat. So I'm curious. Where is your heat set to? Well, we're all paying our bills, right? And those bills have been going up. And your salary may not have been going up in order to match what's been going on with inflation. That's where you get the affordability factor. And you see just about every talking head in the country right now talking about affordability. Whether something is affordable not. I even saw a guy in Fox business yesterday who said that he thinks the real poverty line for a family of four is $140,000 a year. Now, he's in New York, okay? So maybe that would be true in New York. But if we really got to the point where the poverty line is $140,000 a year for a family of four, Richard Brasso joins us, financial planner. Let's start with the poverty line. Where do you think the poverty line is for your average American family of four, Richard? Oh, my God. Well, the average earnings for a family is roughly around $60,000. And frankly, there's enough social support. And there was a study done years ago that shows you if you took advantage of all the social safety nets out there, you probably didn't even need to work. So listen, we're a country that poverty has pretty much been eliminated. And when you look at affordability, which is the latest bugaboo, it's different for every household, which makes it a challenge. What you find irritating in your inflationary budget, Jimmy, could be very different than mine. Mine may be gas, and I see gas going down, but yours may be steak, and you're troubled, or I have children going to college. So this is a moving target when it comes to affordability. Everybody's going to have an opinion, and to some degree, everybody is sort of right, but coming up with one formula to fix it all is absolutely impossible. I agree. Let's expand on this a little bit further, though. You brought up a great point here because what is affordable and what isn't, it depends on what your priorities are. If your priority is to take a vacation, you may have spent $8,000 on the vacation a couple of years ago. They'll now will cost you $11,000 or $12,000. But if taking that vacation is a priority to you, then you'll find a way to make it affordable. Well, you'll find a way to make it work. And again, as you look at the soup of this, and you have to realize that President Trump, the perception is reality. And the perception is he hasn't done much to lower prices. When you look at the CPI, prices have steadied. I mean, inflation, the rate of change is between two and a half and three percent, which is sort of reasonable. But people don't care about that. They care about when they go to the store, prices are still high as they were. There's only one way to bring those prices down, and that's some sort of buyer strike. And if you've got that going on, you've got an economic contraction and deflation, which is worse.

So that's the problem with saying, I'm going to fix it. But politicians are running on this. And some of the politicians who are running on this are the ones who are okay with inflation at 9%, which is the real irony. That's how desperate people are to get prices lower, and no one can figure it out. So you've got this issue. The American thinker had an article about it's regulatory. Yeah, it is regulatory. It's also personal responsibility. I am living in the most exciting age of America with AI. And if I want to increase my personal capital and learn, I have multiple avenues to make more money because it really comes down to this. It comes down to real income. It comes down to inflation adjusted income. And real personal income was up 2.3%. this year through August. But you look at... This should not be close. The fact that we're even talking about this being a competitive seat and even being a concern should be alarming. The challenge the Republican Party has, how do we get people who are energized about the president to show up in special elections, it comes back to turnout. It's a district that Trump won by 20 points last year. Texas Congressman Troy Nails is the sixth Republican to announce that he won't run for re-election from the Lone Star State next year. The question is whether it will impact the makeup of Texas's congressional delegation. Experts say it's unlikely to shake up the Republican Party's dominance in Texas. It's a very Republican district, both under the 2025 map, as well as under the 2021 map. Rice University political expert, Mark Jay Jones, says Nell's twin brother, Trevor's, shoe-in to win the election. He's well-known in Fort Bend County. A Texas Democrat has not won a statewide office in more than 30 years. H.R.H is Carrie Lockie. The Harris County Democratic Party, well, they'll vote on December 14th. to ban Houston Mayor John Whitmire from ever receiving the party's endorsement again. It's a move that might wind up being the final nail in their own coffin. It's shocking and I guess a self-inflicting wound if you ask me that the local Democratic Party would attack Mayor John Whitmire when he seems to be finding support from both sides of the aisle. Jared Woodfield with the conservative Republicans of Texas as the only reason Democrats are considering this is because John Whitmire is actually focusing on fixing the city instead of radical leftist priorities. 605, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz remains under fire after a U.S. attorney charged eight men in his state last week for defrauding the housing stabilization services for millions of dollars in Medicaid funds. When asked about who might be behind an ex-account that says it's a whistleblower, Republican State Representative Walter Hudson says he thinks it's one or even more state employees. The things that they've been posting are completely consistent with not only the things that we've heard as members of the House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Committee here in Minnesota, but also with the anecdotal testimony that we've heard from folks whistleblowers. There's also a federal investigation into all of this. After a down day on Wall Street, Dow futures are up this morning. And according to reports, Kevin Hassett, the National Economic Council Director is the frontrunner to take over the Fed next year. We've heard a lot about the last several months, the word affordability, right? And while we've heard a number of proposed solutions, there isn't a one-size-fits-all option. The best step would be focusing on wage growth.

How do I increase my real income coming into my house? For some people, that might be cutting debt. How many subscriptions do I have? You may not live in the neighborhood that's off the beach. Okay, I'm going to try to tread carefully here. This is a very difficult topic for me. Because as I'm sure most of you know, I'm not exactly a Lina Hidalgo fan, quite the opposite. I think she's about as craziest the day is long. And not to mention the fact that she's not good at her job, never was good at her job, doesn't even do her job. Anyway, all that aside, you know, it's sad to think that her marriage lasted a year, not even a year when you get right down to it. The announcement evidently coming out yesterday that Lina Hidalgo and her husband have split up. The 33-year-old judge was married to David James. They separated on their first anniversary less than a year after the December wedding in the Philippines. So it didn't even make it a year. Normally that's the honeymoon stage. A year, right? How do you wear out your welcome in a year? How does that fall apart so quickly? Supposedly, they had been together for 10 years prior. What happened? Now, I don't know. Obviously, I'm not privy to their personal information, but you've got to think that maybe this is the first time they actually lived together. That's the only thing that comes to my mind. You could be with somebody for 10 years, and at the end of the night, you're going back to your own place where it's quiet and where it's sane and where nobody's saying crazy stuff to you or yelling at you or doing any of that kind of stuff. Maybe it was the cohabitation that was a problem. I mean, he obviously knew what he was getting, right? If you're with somebody for 10 years, you've seen it at all. So as far as what happened, who knows. But, you know, again, you hate to see it happen. But that just seems so disposable. I mean, have you really tried everything you can try? Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary making that announcement Friday. As an example, they put up that, you know, the Democrats have been, the six Democrats who did that video telling the troops to basically disobey the president. If they're given an illegal order. Well, one of them was asked. to name one illegal order that President Trump has done, and they couldn't come up with one. No surprise there. Curtis Howg joins us. Media Research Center. I guess the premise is to shame these folks, Curtis, but can you shame somebody who has no shame into changing their behavior? Well, that's a good point. I don't know if these guys actually are capable of shame, but I think this is, I love this. I'm a huge fan of this because it's not just simply like listing an outlet and saying, you suck. This one, the White House on their page, Whitehouse.gov slash media bias, they run down and they have it cited. They currently have 31 entries and they list the claim, they list the publication, they list the reporters, and they even have it sorted into categories. You know, my favorite is, you know, they've got misrepresentation, omission of context, the lie. But for certain people like Whoopi Goldberg, they just label it left-wing lunacy, which is my personal favorite. And I'm partial because they cite, they've cited news busters in some of these. But they run through the offense, the facts, key points, and links to back up. their points, not just simply saying these reporters are wrong, which I think, you know, kind of goes with how we do things at do's busters. Well, and that's perfect if you are trying to reach an audience that's really interested in that. In other words, the people who are in the middle who have not made up their minds, who want to know all sides of the story before they do make up their minds, to provide them with something other than the mainstream media narrative.

The problem is that we've just become so partisan by nature that at least a third of us will buy into whatever the left is saying. A third of us will buy into whatever the right is saying. And it's that I guess you're just trying to reach that one third that somewhere in the middle that hasn't made up their mind. Well, yeah, I mean, that certainly is true that we are kind of stuck in a partisan thicket, so to speak, and that's definitely not changing anytime soon. However, I do think that, you know, if we're fighting, if we say we're going to fight for every voter because as we've seen a lot of these elections have come down to the wire, you don't actually have to cite the White House. You can cite the links that the White House supports because I think that's why this one is particularly helpful. You don't have to push back. by just simply saying, oh, the White House shows this thing that the liberal media read about them isn't true. They provide sources to explain why they're not true. And they're more, they use other liberal outlets to debunk said liberal points, which I think is particularly interesting. So it's kind of a roundabout way of using the White House to kind of get your point across. And, you know, I think it's fun. I don't think it's particularly harmless. And it's fun to take a pin to these people that just have such inflated egos. You know, there's a buzzword going on in the media right now. I know you've heard it a million times. I want to see what you think of it. It's called affordability crisis. Everybody's all the mainstream talking about the affordability crisis. They obviously want to tell you that here we have President Trump and you can't afford to buy things because he was going to fix inflation, but he hasn't fixed inflation. Of course, what they don't tell you is the Biden years of inflation that led up to where we are at right now and that prices really have stabilized, but they don't go backwards. And if they do go backwards, that's a bad thing. Right, exactly. Yeah, it's more about slowing the rate of increase. You know, Amy Klobuchar tweeted that over the weekend. Like, I forget it was like electric bills or just general inflation. It was this huge thing. And like, look how hot it is under the president. Whereas the entire spike. came in the Biden presidency. I mean, this is what Bernie Goldberg wrote about when he wrote his book bias, you know, 20, 30 years ago talking about how during the Reagan presidency, CBS News and the like discussed that, oh, my gosh, there's homelessness in America. But they didn't really do it under Jimmy Carter or, you know, anybody else or Bill Clinton. So it's very similar here. They're playing catch up. They're playing catch up. You know, I think people see the gas, the national average is now $3 a gallon, which is something we even had in four years. That's like tangible results that I think the Americans can point to. Democrats in Congress are questioning the follow-up strike after a report in the Washington Post said there were survivors from the initial strike. That's Darren Halper, reporting President Trump held talks with top advisors yesterday discussing the pressure campaign on dictator Nicholas Medoro. Trump is also sending special envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin in the hopes of finally getting a peace deal done to end the four-year-old Russia-Ukraine war. We want to stop people from being killed. It doesn't have much to do with us, but I'd like to see if we could save a lot of souls. Trump over the weekend. And as promised, the White House put out the MRI that Trump had as part of his physical doctors gave him a clean bill of health. The White House is also rolling out a media offenders of the week website. It's a new effort to expose fake news. Curtis Halk of Newsbusters says this is a harmless way to point out the increasing bias. And really, it comes at a great time. It is smart from a strategy standpoint because you give it a few weeks now with the news cycle back at a fever pitch. And I think people will kind of be clamoring to find out who it's going to be at the end of a week. And the White House can easily drive engagement with that. He says though some liberals will take this as a badge of honor to fundraise from their liberal base. Congress is back at work, but Senate Majority Leader John Thune warns, time is running out to pass another round of funding bills before the Christmas vacation. The continuing resolution, by the way, to keep the government running is in effect through January. It's now 634 here at home. The rules for Texas' school choice program, which officially kicks off next year, have been announced. The rules make it clear that this isn't a handout to the rich, like some Democrats claimed. Low-income families benefit from school choice more than anybody else. This is a big deal for families who couldn't afford private school before. Corey DeAngelis with the American Culture Project says the next step is to expand access to school choice further. Remove the arbitrary cap and fund every student who applies to the program because we're already paying for these students' taxpayer-funded education. He says this is a good starting point, but issues will come up. that will have to be fixed later. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. About two-thirds of Americans now say college degrees aren't worth the money. They're printed on. That's up from about half a few years ago, and workplace expert Jennifer Jay Jones says one factor here is AI. It's really moving fast, but it is also opening up some new opportunity. Among those energy markets, which are greatly needed for data centers, and speaking of those data centers, combine their need for power with this week's cold snap, and you've got fresh new concerns about the Texas power grid.

The rise in data centers is straining what is already a tight grid. Earlier this year, the governor signed legislation that gives the PUC the power to remotely disconnect what are described as large loads as a way to conserve electricity. Well, they give them 24 hours notice, and they could dispatch them for as long as they need them off. Michael Jewell with a conservative energy network says data centers are on board with the plan. They buy electricity on the open market. And during a power crunch, like Winterstorm Uri, that price goes through the roof. us. That is KTRH's Beth Myers. It's now 636, a mystery unfolding in Austin. A Texas A&M student dies hours after tailgating before the UTA&M game last week. Loved ones have identified this student as Rihanna Aguilera, a student at Texas A&M's Bush School of Government and Public Service. According to Austin Police, officers found Aguilera unresponsive early Saturday at an apartment on Rio Grande Street. This is near University of Texas's campus. She was pronounced dead at the scene. At this time, we don't know what happened after the tailgate in which she attended. Investigators say there are no signs of foul play, and they're not treating the case. as a homicide. We also had a home invasion on the southeast side of Houston this morning that put both the homeowner and one of the two bad guys involved in the hospital. Texas Congressman Chip Roy reacting to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, who's called for a full travel ban on countries that she says are flooding the U.S. with immigrants after last week's shooting of two National Guard soldiers near the White House. Coming to the United States of America is a privilege. It is not a right. White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt on Fox. Now, could this have been prevented? The State Department Inspector General warned two years ago under Joe Biden that the federal government special visa program for Afghans, quote, relies on Taliban cooperation. It's Election Day today in Tennessee with Republican Matt Van Epps in a tight rate with a radical Democrat by the name of Afton Bain. She wants transgender surgery for minors without parental consent, believes that men can get pregnant, and just, you know, crazy. That was Van Epps with KTRH's Clay Travis and Buck Sexton. Keep in mind, this is a close race in a district that President Trump won by 20 points a year ago.

But now it's close. This is not a seat that should even be on the map for Democrats. That's Aaron Evans, president of winning Republican strategies who says a Democrat win would send shockwaves through Washington. If the Democrats win, I definitely think that there's some serious conversations that are going to be had, especially focusing in on the midterms. President Trump weighed in and says the whole world is watching. Jeff Andy Biggs News Radio 740. KTRH. Here at home, Troy Nils's retirement from Congress makes it six Texas Republicans leaving Washington next year. Rice's Mark Jay Jones says the Dems are unlikely to flip those seats, especially Nelses District. This is a race where regardless of who the Republican candidate is, they're going to win in November of 2026. He says Trevor Nills, Troy's twin brother is a lock to win the election. Harris County Democrats are still at odds with Houston Mayor John Whitmire, moving ahead with an attempt to ban him from ever getting their endorsement again. Too many of the loud faces and voices are pushing a radical left agenda. Mayor John Whitmire is not doing that. Instead, he is focusing on safer streets, keeping taxes low, aiding first responders, things of that nature. Jared Woodfield with the conservative Republicans of Texas says a move like that is just going to end up hurting the local Democrats more than it will hurt. the mayor. It's now 704. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is facing a massive fraud scandal with millions said to be missing from programs like housing stabilization services. Many blaming the Somali community allegations they are funding terror groups like al-Shabaab. They were doing things like faking autism diagnoses, faking autism treatment plans, opening up fraudulent autism centers. Manhattan Institute senior fellow Chris Rufo says the damage is worse than what's being reported. There's a federal investigation ongoing as well. Dow futures are up this morning after a down day on Wall Street yesterday. Meantime reports indicate that National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett is the likely frontrunner to replace Jerome Powell next year. Affordability. That's the new buzzword. You hear it all over the place today. The mainstream media, the Democrats, even Republicans, very few people actually understand what affordability is, though. Unfortunately, there isn't any one solution to solve a multifaceted affordability issue. It's a soup. It's a very complicated soup. It's all these little microeconomic stories from everybody's household and political perception. Financial planner Richard Rosso says tackling individual prices will be the key to solving affordability. We've got one group that likes steak and now can't buy it. That to them is affordability. But to me, it's something else. And that's why it's so hard to figure out the problem. Well, the 7th District in Tennessee is just outside of Nashville. Aaron Evans is with this, President of Winning Republican Strategies. We're talking about a race in a reliably red state, Aaron, where the margin between the Democrat and the Republicans is like two percentage points last time I saw, whether I think about 5% undecided. So this is an election that obviously is too close to call and could go either way. Why is this such a close race? Yeah, I think that's the million dollar question. I mean, we're talking about a district that President Trump won by 20 points just last year. And so, you know, I think a couple dynamics. One with special elections, you know, it always is a little tighter. Those are the elections that you have to pay more attention to because people aren't expecting. It's the middle of the holidays. People aren't expecting to be voting. You know, we just... You have elections in November, you have elections maybe, you know, primary season, and no one's going into the Christmas season thinking about voting. And so I think that in and of itself presents a challenge. And so really it comes down to voter enthusiasm and which party has their base fired up the most. And the two most powerful motivators are fear and hope. And I think right now the Democrats, you know, have the fear angle. I mean, they've definitely... continually weaponized firing people up on the Democrat side against the president and the America First agenda that's that Americans voted for at large. But you've got a small minority that's very, you know, very energetic right now with the Democrat base in that district. And so, you know, we've got to get the vote out. Republicans have to turn out to vote.

Or sometimes maybe the candidate is not everything you would want him to be. What can you tell me about the Republican nominee, Matt Van Epps? What kind of a guy is he? Hey, look, you know, Van Epps is a phenomenal candidate. I think he's a great guy. You know, President Trump has said he's going to be a champion for the America First Agenda and a strong member of Congress. You know, I think that at the end of the day, you know, it's... It's a short, it's a short election process. And I would actually say this as someone who's led winning campaigns and, you know, had some losing campaigns over the years. You know, it's in a, in a race like this. It really is on the campaign to deliver the message. And so you can have the best candidate in the world. But, you know, when I'm looking at these numbers, you know, there's something missing on how the message is getting conveyed to the voters themselves. So I would probably be more, I would probably be looking a little more. closely at the campaign itself versus the candidate, knowing that this is a great candidate, and he's going to be a great member of Congress. But, you know, we've got to get better as Republicans on get out the vote programs, and we've got to get better as Republicans on how do we... connect with these Trump-only voters who vote in presidential years. And I mean, I think that's a problem we've seen. We just saw it in Virginia. We saw it in Georgia. You know, how do we get people who will show up to vote for President Trump and for his agenda with passion to show back up and vote in these other elections that are critical if they want this agenda to actually. come to fulfillment. You know, we have been talking about messaging and about voter turnout for 20, 30, 40 years. Why is it that nothing ever changes on that? You know, I think it's like anything. I think that... industries and consultants and parties get stuck in their ways. And ultimately when that happens, I do think that you start seeing losses occur. And, you know, I mean, one of the things we used to kind of joke about, we'd make fun of Obama for being a community organizer and it's, you know, what the heck's a community organizer? And look, I think the Democrats have proven to us what a community organizer is since 2008. And, I mean, they've. you know, they've organized like crazy and they get their base out. I mean, they have coalitions and groups and micro-targeting and they know who their people are. And, you know, and I feel like that's the type of infrastructure. Republicans have to get serious about if we're going to really compete in this new landscape over the next, you know, decade is, you know, we've got to, we've got to do some of the same stuff. And right now, Republican campaigns typically, you know, we depend on, you know, mail and texting and digital and, you know, and all those things are great. But there's very seldom a real grassroots infrastructure in place, whereas the Democrats really have the communities organized and they know who their people are and they get them out. He's also pushing for peace in Europe. Steve Witkoff's meeting with President Vladimir Putin is the latest move in attempts to bring peace in Ukraine closer to reality. There's been some back and forth since the U.S. put forward a 28-point settlement plan less than two weeks ago. Ukraine and its allies argued it rewarded Russia for its invasion and say they have secured a number of changes. Jonathan Savage reporting. We were told that he also wiggled his toes. West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrissey, the attack killing 20-year-old Sarah Bextram. The White House reviewing all Biden-era Afghan arrivals following the attack and borders our Tom Homan told Fox that Homeland Security needs stricter vetting requirements. If we're going to try to find those documents, which they really don't exist, you're going to take them from the Taliban. You're going to make Taliban is going to give us the intelligence information we need. The vet these people is ridiculous. The president and DHS secretary Kristi Noem calling for a full travel ban now on countries that flood the U.S. with immigrants. The president has promised put out the results of the MRI he had as part of his physical. There's nothing wrong with him. The same can't be said of the mainstream media as the White House is fighting fake news in new ways, creating a media offender website of the week. It's funny, harmless, and an impactful way to put a spotlight on bias. It is not a threat to their lives to point out when a reporter or news outlet is not doing its job or putting out bias stories. Curtis Halk of NewsBusters says this was a good time to do this with the news cycle at a fever pitch, but don't expect it to change the tune of the liberal legacy media. The homeowner was hit well as well. Both of them are in the hospital. A second bad guy is still on the run. Houston police opened fire on an armed robbery suspect in North Houston.

Male suspect had the employee at gunpoint and using her as a shield. Upon exiting the business, our officer responded to the threat of the suspect and fired his weapon multiple times, striking the suspect. The bad guys in the hospital. Fort Bend, ISD will unveil elementary school boundary scenarios on December 15th. The district accelerating the timeline because parents demanded earlier access to that information. Clearly they are listening to the community by putting these. special meetings and agendas together. So we appreciate that. That parent with our TV partner channel, too. The rules for Texas's new school choice program have been released. And while they seem like a good start, we're seeing some calls for improvements. Get rid of that requirement for schools to be accredited for two years. This is basically a barrier to market entry. If you're a new school provider, a micro school, things that can be very useful in rural areas. Corey DeAngelis with the American Culture Project says overall it's a great start for school choice in Texas. About two-thirds of registered voters say four-year college degrees aren't worth the cost. It's up from about half eight years ago. Workplace expert Jennifer Jay Jones says it's a familiar story now for college graduates. They're in debt. They're coming out and they've got, you know, the job salaries are not where they thought they would be. And, of course, there are advancements we've seen in AI that are playing a part in this. This summer's deadly hill country flooding is leading to more oversight of summer camp. And camp owners are in sticker shock over proposed raises and license fees. Last year, we paid, gosh, I think $964. And this coming year, it's going to be $11,200. Susan Osborne is one of those camp owners and says fees will be passed on to parents when they register for next summer. And finally, the Houston Rockets lose to Utah, 133 to 125. Story about the demise of Social Security. To me, it's a lot of white noise, but knowing that we have listeners on Social Security and how easily people on Social Security get scared or the idea of a reduction in benefits or something happening to Social Security, I feel compelled to cover the story. And I trust a little bit about what E.J. Anthony has to say. He's been a frequent guest on our program. I'm also frequent guest on Fox. They had a discussion about this latest report. that says that Social Security would become insolvent by 2033 without some major changes. Here they are. I think you're going to have to have those structural changes. Now, to be clear, we don't want to pull the rug out from anybody, right? It's not as if someone who's already getting benefits. We want to see big cuts there. No, but younger generations need to be told, look, look, the system is not going to look like at the time of your retirement. It's not going to look like what it does today. That's just the reality. We're not having enough kids. The population is not growing fast enough, specifically the number of working people is not growing fast enough. And if you're going to keep a Ponzi scheme going, which, sorry, structurally, that's what Social Security is. It relies on an ever-growing increase of people paying into the system to pay for today's retirees. If you're not going to keep that growing, that population, that working group, then yeah, you are going to have to make structural changes. That's the math. Taken, you agree. Yes, absolutely. The viewers some get angry every time I say that a couple retiring this year is taking out $3 out of Medicare for every dollar that they paid into the system. So it is people who are currently working, paying taxes into the system who are covering those individuals. And it's not quite as extreme with Social Security, but there's... a couple retiring this year is still taking out more than they paid in. And so the Social Security hits insolvency in 2033. Also Medicare's Hospital Trust Fund runs out of money that same year and there's an automatic benefit cut to 89 cents on the dollar being paid out. And this Congress, these lawmakers can't get rid of a super subsidy for Obamacare that is $40 billion a year? How on earth are they ever going to fix this? Well, they can't even come up with a budget other than a continuing resolution. Are we going to wait for Congress to fix this problem?

I don't understand why people who are this smarts turn to a life of crime. It's amazing how... Smart people who want to rob you can be how they can overcome technology. The latest thing, and it's happening here in Houston, is people are burglarizing homes. And they're disabling the Wi-Fi for the security cameras so they can't be caught on camera. Here's the report from our television partner, KPRC 2. It's surveillance video from a Bel Air backyard that could have been crucial. But as three suspected burglars get closer to the camera and hold up a backpack, it became fuzzy video of little use. They're overwhelming the signal and they're causing what's called a packet disruption. Inside that backpack, Bell Air Police believe the suspects had a Wi-Fi jam. Distorting the video that would have clearly captured them, breaking into a home on Aspen Street Saturday evening. They're relatively inexpensive and there are tons of websites online for people who like to cause chaos like this. Nigel Nielsen is an IT expert. He estimates the device could have been built for 60 bucks or less and put together in under 30 minutes, causing data interference simply by pointing at the camera. There are always ways that people will try and defeat whatever the system of the day is. Los Angeles police warned about the high-tech crime trend earlier this year after similar break-ins caught on camera.

Experts suggest updating the firmware and hardware on any Wi-Fi cameras and have multiple cameras pointing at the same area. They could hold it up to one camera, but you're going to get them from a separate angle that is further away. The most foolproof solution, Nielsen says, is to have an SD card recording backup or hardwire surveillance cameras to block criminals from blocking them. Uh-huh, hardwired, okay. How long before they figure out how to circumvent the hardwired system? Right now they're jamming the Wi-Fi. So if you have a wireless camera system, then if you've got the smart burglar at work there, then they can get around that system. The reason for having security cameras, I think for most folks, at least for me anyway, is just the deterrent. Even if they're not working, the fact that you have security cameras there, that would probably keep most. burglars away. But because of the fact that everybody has security cameras now, you know, they've had to come up with a way to make sure that the security cameras don't work.
