Bloomberg had a headline saying the jobs number is going to be zero. House Economic Advisor Kevin Hassett taking a victory lap on MS now. President Trump's list of economic wins so far includes record highs for Wall Street, GDP growth of over 4 percent in the third quarter last year, and the lowest gasoline prices in almost five years. As for the stock market, Dow futures are up 143 points this morning. We'll get another marker of where the economy is at tomorrow with the January inflation report. Another legislative win for the president, the House passes the Save America Act to ensure election integrity. All it does is it ensures that if you're going to register to vote, you have to have proof of citizenship, and when you show up to vote, you have to show a photo ID. Speaker Mike Johnson with KTRH's Sean Hannity. Only one Democrat voted for this. It was Texas's Henry Quayar. 213 voted no, rather 213 voted no. Excuse me. The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate. Also on Capitol Hill, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi defending how the Justice Department has handled the Jeffrey Epstein case. She also teed off on an anti-Trump Republican on the House Judiciary Committee. This guy has Trump derangement syndrome. He needs to get, you're a failed politician. Pam Bondi responding to attacks by Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie. It's now 503. The mainstream media is at it again, focusing on the terror.

That ICE are essentially kidnappers at their masked thugs who are there to disrupt a happy, quiet community and that there's no reason for them to be there. We need a peace deal before security guarantees can kick into gear. And here, the big question is whether the Russians are willing to play ball. Meantime, Russia says they'll abide by the new START treaty, even though it just expired as long as the U.S. does the same. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu signs on to the president's board of peace at the White House yesterday and asks for Iran. The Pentagon reportedly is preparing to deploy a second carrier group to the Middle East. Trump is warning the Iranians that nuclear negotiations must result in a deal. 505. Elections have consequences. We all know that. Democrats retook the Saifair ISD board last year. And now they've reinstated materials on climate change and diversity into the curriculum. This is now being pointed to as an example of how important down-ballot races are. A lot of Republicans wound up shooting themselves in a foot and allowing this to happen simply because the focus was not on winning the races. Political strategist Vlad Vidiak says in the future, there needs to be more of a local focus on these races. Republicans need to do a better job, driving the message from the community to the community, working to find good candidates. early, recruiting good candidates early. He says if that happens, conservatives might actually be able to win and hold these critical school board positions. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. Radical Democrat Senate candidate Jasmine Crockett is getting called out for what some say is the most incompetent campaign in history. Republican strategist Raven Harrison says Jasmine Crockett is in for a big surprise. She is not celebrating what makes Texas amazing. Instead, she is taking off on white people. She's taking off on people of faith. And she is pandering to a fringe group of people who hate this country.

And she also has yet to even hire a campaign manager. New UH polling shows Chip Roy leading the Republican primary for Attorney General. Don Huff finds out in front in the comptroller's race and Sid Miller's ahead in the ad commissioner fight despite not getting the endorsement of top Republicans. 506, a third ransom note in the apparent kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie. TMZ's Harvey Levin says it includes a working Bitcoin address. This person who wrote it knows the identity of the kidnapper. It really only impacts the Department of Homeland Security. But here's the problem. There are plenty of things under the Department of Homeland Security umbrella. That includes, by the way, TSA. Yeah, here we go again. More messes at the airport. Tomorrow's the deadline. And that means that anybody who's flying next week, you might run into a few problems. Now, the Democrats seem to be hell-bent on having this government shutdown. Senator John Robert F. Kennedy Jr. got on the floor of the Senate yesterday to try to explain really in his mind what this next shutdown is really all about. It's all about politics, obviously. But what is it the Democrats are trying to accomplish by doing this? Do they want to abolish ICE in reality? Because they propose things that they want to do. But Senator Robert F. Kennedy Jr. seems to think that even if Republicans agreed all the changes that Democrats want, and they're not going to, that there wouldn't be a deal anyway. So let's have more on that coming up your way next. But first, let's do this. Traffic and weather together as we take in first with Jason Fossack. The Department of Homeland Security is about to shut down. We don't know how to get it back open. What does that mean? It means ICE will be shut down. We've got some ideas about how to keep it operating. They have enough money. It means TSA will be shut down. They're not going to be paid.

That'll impact airport travel. Coast Guard be shut down. FEMA, God help us if we have a natural disaster. It'll be shut down. Here's what's going on. The Karen wing of the Democratic Party is in control of the Democratic Party. And the Karen wing of the Democratic Party, not all Democrats, but there's clearly a Karen wing. Sometimes I call a Maloon wing. They have gone to the minority leader, Hakeem Jeffries, and my friend Chuck Schumer, and said, don't you vote that Homeland Security bill? Why? Because the Karen wing of the Democratic Party wants to defund ICE. Now, we've seen this vampire movie before. The Karen wing of the Democratic Party also wanted us to defund the police. Have that work out for us. But I'll tell you the reality. We could go to Chuck Schumer and the minority leader in the House and say, okay, we accept every one of your conditions. The Democrats still are not going to vote to keep DHS open. I mean, I don't blame Chuck Schumer for trying, but he's kind of wandering around here like one of those rumbas. He looks like a man who's lost his luggage at the airport. I mean, he's making these demands, and if we accepted them, we're not. But if we did, he couldn't deliver the votes. He's wandering right here like a man who's lost his luggage at the airport. God, I love that man. He is the best. He is just absolutely the best. And that's the bottom line. They wanted to fund ICE. They wanted to fund the Department of Homeland Security. It doesn't matter what little tidbits Republicans want to offer. We're saying yesterday that rumor has it that the geopolitia is offering up some compromises when it comes to the Department of Homeland Security and ICE. There's nothing that they can offer that's going to make them happy. at least a certain wing of that party, and that wing of the party, the Karen wing as he's calling it, to the loon wing, whichever, they both work for me, they're not going to go along with it. The most important people here today are those who get their hands a little bit dirty to keep America running at full speed, our frontline coal workers. President Trump announcing that two coal plants laid at... termination will remain open, saving over 450 jobs. Elsewhere this morning, oil futures are down to $64.55 a barrel. On Capitol Hill, we're just a little more than 24 hours away from the third Democrat-driven partial government shutdown since October. Texas Congressman Tony Gonzalez says the Dems have... crazy ideas on ICE and DHS. Democrats are trying to hold America hostage yet again, and they're picking a hostage that doesn't line up with what their agenda is. You know, they're a defund the police ICE movement that's happening within that party, and they're trying to hold the Coast Guard hostage. Gonzalez on Newsmax, remember ICE is funded through 2029, so a shutdown would impact things like FEMA and the TSA. Blue states are trying to block ICE in every turn. Red states, like us in Texas, a very different story. Here in Texas, there's a new law mandating sheriffs have what are called 287G agreements. Why would you want to release somebody on the street that's here legally that's committed to crime? West Texas Sheriff Thaddeus Cleveland says it's common sense. A check of federal data shows around three quarters of all Texas counties currently have these agreements in place.

And then there are the Dems on Harris County Commissioner's Court, which dedicated thousands in your taxpayer dollars to legal assistance for those seeking H-1B visas to work at county jobs. If we do have a shortage of individuals in a particular field, there is absolutely no excuse for us not spending that money to train folks that live in Harris County or in the state of Texas or U.S. citizens to take those jobs. Jared Woodfield with conservative Republicans of Texas. By the way, this is on top of a county million dollar program to defend criminal illegal aliens, something the state sued over. So why is it that Democrats continue to do everything they can to protect illegal aliens? A new lawsuit in Missouri might explain it. And ultimately, for the U.S. Supreme Court to decide, will illegal aliens be included in the 2030 census? Every 10 years, the United States takes the census and then it distributes house seats based on state's population. That's political columnist Victor Jakes, who says if the Dems lose illegal aliens, they will lose their power. What's going to happen after that 23 census is a number of house seats are going to move from blue states to red states. As many as 11 house seats as well as billions of tax dollars. Jeff Andy Biggs News Radio 740. KT. Reach. Houston Mayor John Whitmire gives his state of the city address at about lunchtime today. We'll have more on that throughout the day and tomorrow on Houston's morning news. 534, this state leads the country in AI computing capacity. And then suburban Dallas, a push to pause. New industrial development failed. The chair of the Senate Committee on local government has issued a very pointed letter to the Attorney General saying, please tell these counties to stay in their lane. Hood County Attorney Matt Willis says that even though some don't like these centers, trying to stop them, will just bring lawsuits that counties can't afford. Housing market is swinging towards buyers these days. New numbers show that over 60% purchased below the listing price last year. That's the highest percentage since 2019, according to Redfin. Housing expert Kenya Borrell Van Warmer says more buyers can tap into lower mortgage rates compared to last year over 7%. That really creates a different environment for buyers to be in the driver's seat. She says the Houston market thrives with less regulation along with heavy inventory. Houston allows supply to respond to demand faster than anywhere else. With four and a half months compared to three months of inventory nationally. I'm Erica Smith, News Radio 740, KTRH. More violent crime across the area. A man apparently beaten to death last night in East Harris County. They do have somebody in custody in that case. Bank jogging. We've been talking about that for years across the area. And now, HPD is dealing with gun jugging. We told you that three suspects tried to rob a man of his guns this week after following home from a shooting range. However, the guy that was in the car shot and wounded one of the bad guys. Officer Ken Neely with HPD robbery says having a weapon does not mean you will not be targeted.

Be aware of it if someone's attempting to rob you for your gun, more than likely those people are going to be armed as well. So I want the public to be very mindful when they are coming home from the range until they get home to be very watchful and alert for anyone who's around there. He says gun thieves usually try to steal unattended weapons. 53060 Astros name Hunter Brown, their opening day starter. To me, those all add to leading a comfortable life. To me, if I had the bottom line, a comfortable life, at least my concept of a comfortable life, it's the ability to not sweat things when a bump in the road comes along. You know, the pool pump fails. That's a first world problem, I know. But a medical bill comes due.

Something else happens in your life that upsets the financial apple cart. You've got enough money set aside where it may temporarily bother you, but it doesn't knock you off your road. You're still driving down your little comfortable road that you live on, and you can afford to live your life and to do the things you want to do. We like to eat out in our house. And they think this month might be one of the gloves worn by whoever broke into the house. It's interesting how they keep going back to the daughter's house. And where's that son-in-law I talked about?

At the beginning of this whole thing, that he would be a natural suspect. Where has he been? Man, he's been laying low. I haven't seen anything from him. Here's the update on the glove from News Nation. The New York Post is now reporting that this afternoon, they found a black glove. about a mile and a half from where I'm standing outside Nancy's house. Now remember, in the surveillance photos and video from outside Nancy's house of the suspect, you can see that he is wearing black gloves. So is this a black glove potentially connected to the case? We're told that they bagged it up. when they found it on the side of the road and took it away likely for testing, so we'll have to wait and see. I mean, New York Post is saying that they found this glove, according to Brian, a mile and a half away. So you find that theoretically, and then what can you get from that? Well, you get DNA off of it. No question about it. And if that DNA comes back to a family member or somebody they're up on already, listen, they found that glove because they're up on someone's phone, which means they're retracing everywhere that phone's been. All the roads. That's why they're in the foothills. They're just not guessing. They have a reason for being there. So they're up on somebody's phone. They're retracing that phone's routes in the last 10 days at least, right? So that's why they're starting to, that might be where they turned up a crucial piece of evidence. That's interesting. So you're saying, Paul, they're up on somebody's phone. We know, and Brian reported on this extensively last night. They got a guy for questioning and they let him go. Got him by them to Carlos, like our south, right? But you're thinking that they're probably following a bunch of leads at once. Is that your point, Paul? Yeah, they got on Carlos' phone and didn't find them anywhere near Guthrie's, you know, at the time in question. So they kicked him loose fast. And they turn pretty quickly. He's got nothing to do with this whole thing. All right. So whose phone do they have that led them to this black glove? That would be interesting to know, would it not? 5.51. The FAA was involved in it, but the two didn't really do a very good job of communicating with each other. And everybody in El Paso was confused. Here's a report from our television partner, KPRC 2. We woke up to this headline Wednesday morning. FAA to close airspace in El Paso for 10 days. Whoa, what happened here? Let's start with this. The FAA has the power to close airspace. Most commonly, they do that for severe weather. But this time, the FAA closed a roughly 10-mile radius around El Paso for a special security. reason. The closure scheduled to last 10 days. No planes could fly below 18,000 feet. And get this, the closure started around 1230 in the morning central time, but the FAA filed the closure three hours earlier. This confused air traffic controllers, even pilots. Just be advised, I guess there's a TPR's looking perfect. Just passed it on to the Southwest and everybody else at 0.6.30 for the next 10 days were... We're stop. I'll downstop. Okay. Groundstop, 0630 for how long? 10 days. So you're the airport totally close? Apparently, we just got informed about 30 minutes an hour ago. More than a dozen flights were canceled on Wednesday morning, and even state leaders weren't really sure what's happening. Senator Ted Cruz hoping for answers in the coming days. But the only thing we have right now is a whole lot of confusion. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said the FAA and Department of War reacted to a cartel drone coming into U.S. airspace. They neutralized the threat. But sources told NBC that the U.S. military was actually testing equipment, new technology that could take down drones. Other sources telling the Associated Press that technology was high-powered lasers, like ones mounted to trucks like these. Lawmakers in Washington say there was confusion amongst the acronyms. The Department of War reportedly didn't tell the FAA that they were testing this equipment. There's even reports of a disagreement between the two. It's a classic case of bureaucratic befuddlement.

It's a lot more layers to that, if you will. There's a lot of layers. It's a big giant onion, so we're still battling through that bureaucracy. Airspace in El Paso did reopen early Wednesday morning after roughly eight hours of closure. Yeah, it didn't turn out to be 10 days. Turned out to be 8 hours. I don't know if it was ever going to be 10 days. Mainly because they shot down the drone, a cartel drone. That's what was going on. They're using lasers to do it, and they didn't want any aircraft to be in jeopardy. And he went on to say that they, in the press conference, he kept referring to the shooter as they. Because evidently that was the shooter's preferred pronoun. That's very important. You wouldn't want to upset a dead shooter by... misidentifying them and using the wrong pronoun. What the... And then I thought, well, let me look at the news stories here. Maybe it's just the Canadians that are that book, that they're not willing to admit we have another transgender shooter. BBC, police identify 18-year-old as suspect in shooting. That's as far as they go as far as identification.

Canada school shooting suspect identified his 18-year-old with past mental health issues. Shooter in Canada kills nine people, injures 25 others, and a school and a home. That's the Associated Press. At least eight killed dozens injured in Canada shootings. That's from CNN. Canadian police identify suspect in school massacre, the left nine dead. That's the guardian. Reuters, Canadian police identify 18-year-old woman as suspect in mass school shooting. None of them refer to this being a transgender shooter. None of them refer to this as being a biological male that has transitioned to be a female. Nobody is asking the question of whether or not there are hormonal issues associated with some of the mental health problems, not to mention, other issues involved with making a transition between one sex to another sex. The latest gun-jugging incident involves a man who ended up shooting the robbery suspect after the robbers followed his car from a gun range in southwest Houston.

That doesn't seem very smart on the robbery's case. If you're following somebody from a gun range, wouldn't you kind of make the assumption that they were armed? Ken Neely joins us, HPD Robbery Division and BP of Houston Police Officers Union. That doesn't sound like the brightest criminal in the world, does it? No, sir, it doesn't. Thank you for having me this morning, is also. How prevalent is this problem getting? Explain to our audience exactly what gun jugging is for those that are not familiar with the term and how it works. Well, actually, jugging actually is typically been associated with suspects following people from banks or financial institutions and taking their money from them. What we've started to see lately as suspects of watching the parking lots of gun ranges. or even stores where people are buying guns, following them home and attempting to rob them. Unfortunately, we had an incident a few days ago where suspects tried to follow an individual coming from a gun range and maybe not using common sense, realizing they were coming from a gun range, knowing the people where they were following were armed. All right, so their intent was to rob this person of his weapon or weapons, assuming either for their own use or for resale. on the black market, I'm guessing, right? That is correct. That's the assumption that we are going to take right now. I know investigators are attempting to locate all the suspects involved in this incident to speak to them further. Are there any signs that listeners can look for? What are some of the things you need to be wary of, whether you're going to an ATM, a bank, or wherever it is you may be. Obviously, you need to be aware of your surroundings, but what's the easiest way to spot somebody who might be casing you? Yeah, one of the easiest ways that we speak to citizens is be aware of where you are. If you have to go to an ATM, if possible, during the daytime, go to an area where it's heavily populated. and you can see who's around you. If you see someone maybe standing near an ATM, that's kind of a good clue to stay away from them. Pick a different location. The same thing is if you make a transaction, if you come in from a store or a gun range, be mindful if you see a car following you. This is a heavily populated area with lots of vehicles. But sometimes we can see if the same car takes the same path we're taking. If you believe you're being followed, instead of turning left, turn right, just to see if that person is going to continue to travel the same direction you are in. And if they do, what do you recommend? You drive to your local police station, the nearest police station. Is that the best route to go? Yes, sir. Try to drive to the nearest police station. Also, if possible, see if you can get a description of the vehicle and also the license plate of that vehicle. We have a lot of hands-free communication now. You can use your phone and just maybe call the dispatch and let them know you believe you're being followed, given the direction of travel and the license plate and the description of the vehicle that you believe is following you. The data shows that around three quarters of all Texas counties currently have these agreements in place. The Dems DHS derangement syndrome could cause another partial government shutdown tomorrow. That's when a deadline to fund the department hits. It has TSA funding. It has Coast Guard funding. It also has HSI, which we go after child pornographers there. We go after sex trafficking rings with HSI. And then the Border Patrol.

Political consultant Victor Jake says it's now up to the U.S. Supreme Court to decide will illegal aliens be counted in the census in 2030? John Cornyn, for example, who's like in third place. And he's the incumbent. So he and his political packs and all that, they're running all kinds of ads against. They're all negative ads, by the way. Every political, just about not 100%, but just about every political ad I've heard has been a negative ad. And it's not about what that candidate will do for you. It's how bad that other candidate is and what a rhino he is and how much he really hates Trump. And they all sound pretty much the same. Does it work? I have no idea. It must work to some degree or they wouldn't do it. But I wanted you to know that we don't pick political ads. We don't pick favorites. We're not, you know, we do not decide what the content of the ads are and we can't turn down political advertising. So it's going to be like this between now and the primary. Once the primary gets over and done with, then good grief. We can all take a deep breath. Toxic chemicals in our food, thousands of our food items have some of these toxic chemicals. What are these chemicals? Here's the FDA's Marty Makary. discussing the issue. It is an antioxidant preservative. It's commonly found in glues and plastics and other products. But it's also in foods. It's in about 4,600 commonly consumed foods in the U.S. food supply. There have been a number of concerns about it, including the National Toxicology Program in the United States did say that it is likely a carcinogen, that it's entirely appropriate that this will be anticipated to be a carcinogen as more research comes in. So a lot of parents are concerned about it. So we are going to issue a request for information and take a close hard look at it, along with BHT, which is a common molecule you'll see on the label of cereals. BHT is banned in some countries. You can get fined $140,000 for making cereal with BHT in some countries. And the other is azodicarbonamide. This is a chemical that is used in shoes and yoga mats to make them more fluffy, to create more cushion by adding those sort of bubbles in yoga mats and in sneakers. But it's also used in dough for food. So we're going to be taking a look at that as well. BHA was the first one, by the way, so BHA, BHT. Political strategist Vlad Vidiak says in the future, there needs to be more of a local focus on these races. Republicans need to do a better job, driving the message from the community to the community, working to find good candidates early, recruiting good candidates early. Actually, it was a great jobs report. 130,000 jobs more than twice what they thought was going to happen. But there is a piece of information in there. that maybe you're not aware of at least not yet that I want to share with you because to me it's the best news about the jobs report. They were talking about it on mornings with Bereo from Fox Business yesterday when the job, just as the job numbers were coming in. So. Let's listen to the reaction, and you'll hear and hear the piece of good news you maybe were not aware of. 130,000 jobs created for the month of January. The estimate was 70,000. Wow, was right, Maria. 4.3% is the unemployment rate. The street was looking for 4.4%. This is not the kind of report we expected to see, guys. Let me give you the government jobs picture. That is negative 42,000 on the government side's part of the economy. We saw that in the reports previously. We also saw labor force participation rate 62.5%. Average hourly earnings, 0.41%. That is actually higher than the expectations. Average hourly earnings month to month a little bit higher than expected. Private payrolls, 172,000.

I had to do a double-take, 172,000 private jobs. Guys, that's 100,000 above the estimate. We were looking for 70,000. The average work week, 34.3 hours. Louis, what's your take on these numbers, much better than expected job creation in the month of January? Well, we just have to look at the bond market reaction, and if bonn yields go up a little, then that means the Fed can... postpone their rate cuts. But, you know, the yield curve is the steepest in four years, and they're going to be cutting probably when Kevin Warsh gets in. Now, the confirmation hearings for Kevin Warsh are expected to begin in March, widely expected to be confirmed and be our next chairman of the Fed. You're expecting three rate cuts, Louis. That's right. And Kevin's a big proponent of not doing quantitative easing. So we expect he'll shrink the Fed's balance sheet. But he's going to be working with Scott Bessent. Those two know each other very well. Okay. There's so much good news in there. You know, interest rates, probably three interest rates cuts coming here as soon as we get the new Fed chair in. But the part I hope you noticed was negative $42,000 on government jobs. plus 172,000 on private payroll jobs. So the private jobs sector grew, just as the president had promised, they were cutting government jobs while creating more private sector jobs. So that's the best news of all. It's amazing what things the court will find money to spend on. This is $50,000. It's roughly 10 employees. Most of them work, are doctors and work in the forensics area, quote-unquote, hard-to-filled positions. So the best I can say about it is at least there's some legal process here that somebody's trying to follow. It's not like the $1.3 million that was allocated to defend people that are not here legally. That's probably my biggest issue. And the Attorney General is obviously pushing that as well. All right. So as you say, these are evidently hard to fill physicians. But if these are doctors who make a very good living last time I checked, why aren't they paying in order to be able to get this taken care of themselves? Why aren't they paying their own legal fees? Well, that's a good point, Jimmy. Just in terms of people trying to fill positions, it is that those are the hardest to feel positions out there. You're competing with all the other jobs out there in the medical center. I'm not making excuses, but I am putting a bit of a context at least this particular item, even though.

I'd like to see $50,000 spent on other things other than this. Well, and I hate to say this because it'll make it sound like I've grown way too used to the problem, but $50,000 sounds like a drop in the proverbial bucket compared to money that the county wastes on other things. Yeah, like $1.3 million that's out there, which, again, that's money that was allocated to defend people that are not here legally. They're violating the process. Yet we seem compelled to go out there and spend money on that. I'm hopeful that, as I said earlier, the Attorney General can engage and put a stop to some of this foolishness. Okay, well, I guess is that process going to have to wait until there's a new attorney general because obviously Ken Paxton is pretty busy running for another office right now? Well, hopefully, you know, we can walk and chew gum at the same time. I know I saw the governor yesterday at an event on tax relief. and mention it to him as well. This $1.3 million that we're spending is, again, that's on his radar screen, and hopefully he'll push to have the Attorney General engage and deal with it. All right, sir. CBS's bombshell report also claims that 40% of ICE arrestees had no criminal past. They seem to mean here in the U.S. ICE arrested this guy last week. He's an MS-13 member who shot, tortured, and murdered five people. But forget it, people, in El Salvador.

So I guess he's nonviolent since he wasn't convicted here. You know who else didn't have a violent criminal history here? The illegals who killed Lake and Riley, Rachel Moore and Jocelyn Nungary. Or the scammers running fake daycares that haven't been prosecuted yet. But if you commit a crime outside the U.S., it doesn't count. I guess we owe Nicholas Maduro an apology. Of course, this is coming from the same media that lectures one death is too many, which is used to justify insane regulations in public health policies. Remember the pandemic? A single death is a tragedy they would claim, well, unless it's a girl jogging on her lunch break. But in the end, this report is another effort to stop us from keeping bad people out of our country. And they do this by pretending that we're targeting peaceful illegals and that we lied when we said do the worst first. But who's victimizing these least worst? The very same people defending them now. By resisting the goal of deporting the worst first, ICE had no choice but to use a wider net, which included all illegals. If Walts or Fry had agreed to cooperate, then this wouldn't have ever been an issue. But that was the point. Their goal was to prevent deporting criminals, so ICE would be forced to sift through all illegals. And that would be a political win to say, aha, they're not going after the worst after all. It's so moronic that I almost admire it. And it's done not to protect people, but to protect political power. And that allows them to say that a murderous felon came here looking for a better life when, in fact, it was a better knife.
