This is the immediate opening of the Straits of Hormuz and, of course, the lifting of the naval blockade that we've had on Iran along with it. Vice President JD Vance on Fox after a deal was announced by the U.S. and Iran, the blockade will be lifted. And JD Vance says Iran has agreed not to build or buy a nuclear weapon. The official signing takes place on Friday in Switzerland. Oil futures down. About five bucks to $80.31 a barrel. Now, the question is whether or not Iran will keep its word. Eric Kazianis with the National Security Journal says the U.S. can punish Iran if it cheats on this deal. There's a lot you can do to punish that behavior. Iran should not be allowed to sell oil or gas. Their economy should be pulled back as much as possible. Remember Iran cheated on the deal. Barack Obama gave them 11 years ago, and Obama seems to be mad that it was Trump that finally got a deal with Tehran. It is doubtful that any agreement that arises is going to be significantly different.

or a significant improvement from the deal that we had. in the first place. The former president on ABC yesterday. Other political news, Congress failed to reauthorize the U.S. government's Section 702 of FISA. And House Speaker Mike Johnson blames Democrats. Two-thirds of the president's daily national security briefing comes from the intel that we gather through Section 702 of FISA. It's not a game. It endangers the homeland. They've got to get it done. Johnson on Fox 19 Republicans also voted against this. You'll hear from one at six. The president wants... Pfizer reauthorized alongside the Save America Act and Matt Kittle of the federalist says, hey, that's not a bad idea. The more these must pass FISA members of Congress sweat on this, the more likely they are to do what they can to pass it. He says the plan, though, is tough even in a Republican-controlled Congress. It's now 504 on KTRH. Chaos at Discovery Green Saturday. More than 500 kids gathered for what was a teen takeover. There were shots fired in all of this. Nobody was heard two people were detained with guns. Now, according to reports, the World Cup in Houston will lead to more than 523,000 hours of overtime for HPD. So who's paying for this? It's hard to tell without looking at the actual funding sources. We know it's the federal government and the state that's kicking in, but I can assure you that there's ample amount of money that's coming in from both those venues from the federal government standpoint and also the state. Retired HPD captain, Dr. Greg Freeman, says this is a logistical battle that the department is well prepared for. Now, we were all told that the tournament would bring a lot of business to the city. Local restaurant owners want to know. Where are the people? The restaurant's got the message, but they haven't got the crowd. Today, not too much people. Popular children's educator Ms. Rachel is getting schooled after her recent trip to an ice facility in New Jersey. Ms. Rachel accused the Trump administration of terrorizing children. President Trump and ICE, they have rescued hundreds and thousands of children from trafficking. That is education expert Sherry Sylvester, who says, don't let the songs and stuffed animals fool you. It's very hard to be apparent these days. There are people that are pushing lies and misinformation. Ms. Rachel is one of them. The Texas School Choice Program hits a milestone awarding more than 100,000 vouchers. All those students who have been awarded are in lower middle income households. is booming. There had been worries that the deaths of 27 children and counselors would scare parents away from the camps that they had sent their kids to for generations. Eddie Walker, who heads the Christian Camp Association, says he's not heard of any camps that are struggling this year. Parents are so dedicated to these camps and sending their kids, so it's not really surprising to me. Do teenagers scare the living crap out of you? 507 is our time here in Houston's morning news. 500 of them showing up at one place with some with weapons. That would, yeah, that'll get your attention. That's what happened to Discovery Green. You heard the story there with Cliff. We're going to get into some more of the details here. Social media, that's what fuels all this. You know, social media, this is where we're going to go. This is what we're going to do. We're going to take over Discovery Green or wherever it is. This is happening all across the country. We've got a lot of bored teenagers, evidently, who don't have anything better to do with this summer than to meet up somewhere and to cause trouble. Here's a report from our television partner, KPRC 2. This incident is not isolated to Houston, and one police expert I spoke to says social media may be attracting teens to partake in these so-called teen takeovers, especially since the rise in AI. There have been flyers widely spread on social media, inviting teens to come to a specific location like a mall or park like we saw last night. Now, last night, Houston police say 500 to 600 teens, along with some adults gathered near Discovery Green. from videos from our community news partner Grizzies Hood News showing large crowds blocking streets and traffic. More than a hundred police units were called in response. One teen and one adult were detained. Now teen takeovers have been happening all across the country including Chicago, Tampa, and D.C. I spoke with a spokesperson for the National Police Association and she says that parents need to be involved to prevent things like this from happening. To keep in mind is not only can these takeovers be dangerous, but they can also be costly. Sergeant Smith, who I spoke to, says every police unit called in is one that's not actively patrolling. Mayor John Whitmire thanked Houston police for their response last night. The mayor saying the gathering was mostly organized and attended by people outside of Houston. Okay. Mostly attended and organized by people outside of Houston. So these aren't even Houston kids.

who are participating in this. So who is? Is this like some sort of a national effort to provoke violence? Is this, you know, who's behind this? I guess is what I'm asking. If it's not local people who are behind it, if it's not just, you know, a social media trend, the kids are responding. What's the purpose behind it? Is there like some other group or organization that's behind this? He had over 100 police officers involved, five to 600 juveniles and some adults. I would hope that the adults participating were at least arrested. Were any of the kids arrested? Or were they just dispersed? Because if you start rounding them up and arresting them and parents have to come bail them out of jail, then maybe, maybe it gets the parent attention. 5-10, time for traffic and weather together. You would think, with all the nerdy guys walking around, we could find some kind of network of dudes that would just kind of, or women, that would just kind of, you know, monitor the social media and be able to root this out before it happens. All right, well, obviously the big story this morning is this deal. I'm putting it in air quotes because I have such a hard time saying it. After all the things that we've been through, nobody's signed anything yet. Although this time around, they did go, the Iranians did go on Iranian TV and tell their citizens that they have a deal.

Now, what they're telling their citizens about what's in the deal, I don't know. Near as I can tell, but the only thing for 100% certainty we're getting, other than opening up the Strait of Hormuz and getting the oil flowing again, is we are getting a pledge to never either develop or buy a nuclear weapon. They pulled nuclear weapons off the table. Now, what else is included? I'm not sure. What else we've included? I'm not completely sure, though the details are starting to trickle in. But Vice President JD Vance did speak about it yesterday. We'll have more on that coming up next. First, we've got traffic and weathered together as we check in the skymine. Maybe we're done bombing Iran. 523, unless, of course, things fall apart between now and Friday. With that group over there, that's always a possibility. There's always a possibility that something could change if the deal is off. But right now, a deal appears to be on. Vice President JD Vance. on Fox yesterday had this to say about the deal that has been struck with Iran. Well, first of all, I do think it's a big moment for the United States of America. Thanks, of course, to the president's leadership and the hard work of the entire team. Three things that I think are important for the American people just to appreciate about what this deal does for all of us as Americans. Number one, this is the immediate opening of the Straits of Hormuz and, of course, the lifting of the naval blockade that we've had on Iran along with it. The number two thing that it means is that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon and not just pursue a nuclear weapon but procure or try to buy a nuclear weapon as well. That's built into this agreement. And then the third thing is, and this only happens to be clear, if Iran delivers on their promise. And so there's an approach here where we verify and where there are real benefits so long as Iran meets their end of the obligation.

But if the Iranians comply with his deal, it is going to fundamentally transform the Middle East for the next 50 years. It's going to end the war. It's going to make the Middle East more investable. It's going to mean a lot of prosperity, lower energy prices for the American people. This region in the world has been a basket case for my entire life and longer than that. And what the president has really set us to do is to certainly eliminate the nuclear threat of Iran, that's done. But now possibly to build to a new era of Middle East prosperity and success where it's not a region of the world where the United States has to worry about so much, but where, frankly, we can generate a lot of prosperity for the American people out of that region. That's a very, very big win, and it all happened because the president stuck with it. Well, I guess my primary message to the American people is thank you because of your patience. I think that we've solved the problem. that has plagued this country again for well before I was even born, which is a terrorist supporting Iran that was pursuing a nuclear weapon. We are now at a place here where we can stay with confidence they're not going to get a nuclear weapon. And again, if they comply with the broader elements to deal, this entire region, I mean, think about this, for 40 years. If you've heard about the Middle East as an American, you've heard about war, you've heard about terrorism, you've heard about the constant chaos of the region. What the president has done is created the real space to transform that region, cooperation between the Gulf Arab allies and the Israelis, and now hopefully a new era with the Iranians. Again, we're going to verify and ensure that they're meeting there into the bargain. But this is just a great thing for the American people. I know that they've suffered from high gas prices. The president has certainly been very concerned about that fact. But what we're going to be able to do is drive down the cost of energy, not just now, but for the long term, and create a real engine of prosperity in the Middle East where Americans benefit from those lower energy prices, lower gas prices. And we don't have the same risk of chaos that we've had for the last generation. That's big, big wins for the American people. I know that this has been a hard time for a lot of Americans, but we've achieved something great for them. Okay. I think we need to do a question today on this. The Iranians agreed to no nuclear weapons, either building one or buying one. I don't know if there's anything else they agree to. I don't know anything else, what else we may be giving to them. I do know that there are very few of us that trust the Iranians. So I'll be very curious to see what sort of a mechanism is going to be put in place to verify that they are living up to the deal, because that's the key to all this. is if they're living up to the deal or not. Stock futures are rallying this morning as investors hope this will ease inflationary pressures. On Friday, stock saw solid gains with the Dow rising 354 points. It's 532, our top story, oil futures, checking in at their lowest prices in three months, $80.31. This, after the U.S. and Iran, reach a deal to end the war to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump says the vital waterway will reopen once the deal is officially signed. The strait was originally supposed to reopen as soon as an agreement was reached, but officials say they need time to clear mines. The U.S. blockade on Iranian ports is also expected to be lifted, though it's not clear if that process has already begun.

Once signed, the agreement will launch a 60-day negotiation period on Iran's nuclear program and the official end of the war. As part of the deal, Tehran will also reportedly receive phased, sanctioned relief. Ashley Strohmeyer reporting this will be signed on Friday in Switzerland. U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth denied claims from the left that American military stockpiles have been depleted. Nobody makes better and more munitions than the United States of America, and we are open to co-production wherever we can. And because of this administration, We're supercharging our arsenal of freedom, building more, building faster, opening up the Pentagon, ripping through the Pentagon bureaucracy to force industry to move faster. Exit on CBS, closer to home, a pledge from Governor Greg Abbott at the Texas GOP convention. We are going to make clear that in the future, only Republicans vote in Republican primaries. The party also getting a change in leadership with Dorinda Randall, elected chairwoman. She beat the incumbent Abraham George. Texas GOP's legislative priorities are taking shape for next year to no one's surprise. One of the top three, property tax relief. Governor Greg Abbott has made major property tax relief a big part of his platform heading into November and going into the next session with a plan that would cut property taxes by at least half for most Texans. Brandon Walton's with Texas scorecard says he expects that Republicans will address Islamification of Texas in election integrity issues. This was brushed under the rug by the mainstream media last week. violent protesters in San Antonio attacking pro-right activist Lydia Taylor Davis with students for life. She told KTRH she was swarmed by Antifa at an event to honor Charlie Kirk. They know that we are winning, and so they are now resorting to violent and aggressive behavior in attempts to stop us because they don't have any truth on their side to win people over. So instead, they're resorting to trying to silence us. Main Street media didn't mention this attack last week. 534, the media also keeps complaining about high gasoline prices, but funny thing is, they continue to drop. Now at 362 a gallon across Houston this morning, down nearly 40 cents over the last month. Now, there are some energy industry leaders sounding the alarm that shrinking inventories could trigger a spike in prices. But oil and gas expert Phil Flynn says the critics didn't see that the U.S. refineries rose to the occasion since March to meet demand. We're getting smart about getting oil from the straight of Hormuz. I think we're getting smart about alternative ways to move oil. By the way, America's become the world's biggest oil producer and exporter. Texas already also has the resources it needs to meet the new demand for AI energy.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright says he believes natural gas is the key to powering new AI data centers that are exploding across Texas. David Holt with the Consumer Energy Alliance agrees, noting that AI needs a constant source. Wind and solar can contribute, but they're what's called intermittent power. They're not always available, and you can't really ramp them up on those hot summer days or cold winter nights. Natural gas is the mechanism that's going to drive the AI engine for the next several years. He believes natural gas and nuclear power are the long term. solutions and the good news is Texas is ramping up production of both of them. Corey Olson, News Radio 740, KTRH. 536 investors are happy with the potential end to the war in the Middle East. Dow futures are up 436 points this morning and there's good news for the local real estate market pending home sales in Houston are at their highest level in four years. Buyers contracted over 9,000 listings during the month of May, up almost 6%. That's the highest in four years, according to HAR's latest report. Real estate expert Cliff Freeman says despite interest rates, people are still buying. People are getting married. They're having kids. They're relocating. And with over five months of inventory, they actually now have choices and flexibility that they didn't have during the pandemic frenzy. We're under a flood watch here in Houston through 7 o'clock Wednesday morning. Rainfall amounts, 3 to 5 inches with some isolated amounts of up to 8 possible. Things seem to be improving, at least here in Houston, pending home sales have hit the highest level since 2022. Cliff Freeman joins us. Texas-based real estate expert. I suppose if we compared to 2020, we wouldn't be looking anything that great, but at least compared to 2022, things are getting better. Why do you think that is? Well, hey, good morning, Jimmy. Yeah, and if you think the Houston housing market is cooling off, it's time to think again. You know, we just saw the highest volume of buyers locking in contracts in four years, so the demand is absolutely there. Okay, so demand is there, but it was the mortgage rates that seem to be holding people back. Mortgage rates haven't dropped that much. What's got them off the dime?

Yeah, well, you know, the reason why people are buying despite interest rates is because life really doesn't wait for the Federal Reserve. You know, people get married, they have kids and are relocating. And now we've got over five months of housing inventory. So they actually have choices and flexibility that they didn't have, even during the pandemic frenzy. Okay. Is it a buyer's market right now or is it a seller's market? I'm assuming it's leaning more towards a buyer's market as far as pricing. Well, we do have a lot of inventory and pricing is good. So I think you might want to call this a balanced market. You know, a lot of people look at the average sales price and the median sales price and think that that's impacted the value of their home. And it's really not. It's really not an apples and apples comparison. So, you know, even though the listing prices are up right now. The average home price is still, if we look at what the value is, you know, it's a great market, especially for those entry-level buyers. You know, the average price of the real values, rather, of homes is still around 340 right now. Okay. What is the average sale time? Is that improved? Because for a while, there was taking a long time to get a home sold. You know, it's coming down. Yeah, it is. You know, we're seeing liquidity in the market right now with people actually come into the table to buy and sell. You know, with 9,100 contracts, almost 9,200, that's up almost 6% year over year. So we are seeing days on market start to come down, although the total inventory, the absorption rate, we call it, is still 5.1. months right now and that's really not changed so this is an indication of a balanced and a stable market all right cliff ribbon so um going forward here summer's always seemingly always the busy time for home sales i assume that's going to be the case this year june july august the busiest time for home sales here in houston Well, actually, the best time, according to Realtor.com, to put a house on the market is the week of April 19th to the 23rd. That's when prices are seasonally the highest. We're going to start to see things sort of mellow down as we go into the fall. School will start up in August. And, you know, that two weeks before and after school starts, that's generally when we see a real lull in the market and we go into the fall season where prices tend to seasonally adjust downward a bit. The agreement opening up the Strait of Hormuz and guaranteeing national security. Not just... pursue a nuclear weapon for secure or try to buy a nuclear weapon as well. That's built into this agreement. The vice president on Fox, the official signing Friday in Geneva, oil futures at $80.49 a barrel. Obviously, Iran has made agreements before. They weren't honest then. They might not be living up to this deal either. If a country is so committed to getting them, it's going to be hard to stop them. So I think it's important that we hit them with sanctions, make it as tough as possible. But we also start thinking about, okay, what can we do to protect our homeland and protect our allies? Eric Kazianis with the National Security Journal. And then there's the question of what happens to Iran's already enriched uranium or nuclear dust.

We can verify that that stuff is still in the ground and that the only people that should be able to get it out of the ground is American intelligence. And at that point, I think we'll be clear. But currently, if it stays in the ground, I think we're okay. Tennessee, Congressman Tim Burchett on Fox. Other political news, Congress failed to reauthorized FISA and Dems assisted by 19 Republicans in the House. We believe we ought to be working together to figure out how to ensure that we can get the data that we want to collect on bad guys overseas, but protect the American people with the reforms necessary, including warrant protections whenever you're targeting American people. Texas's Chip Roy was one of those Republicans, so for now, FISA has suffered the same fate. as the Save America Act. Some are threatening to withhold votes for FISA until the Save Act is passed, which brings about another play. The idea is to attach the Save America Act to FISA so that this must pass election integrity legislation can make it through. Matt Kittle of the Federalist says in the wake of California's debacle, this bill is more necessary than ever. And as the situation grows desperate with FISA expired, the more chance Congress caves. And if that means the Save America Act, attached, they will do so. He says this plan, though, faces a huge hill to climb, even with GOP control. Andre Parrard News Radio 740, KTRH. It is now 604, the troubling trend of teen takeovers in Houston. More than 500 kids causing havoc at Discovery Green. Saturday night, shots were fired. Two were detained with guns. Nobody was hurt. Add to that, the public safety issues, the increases that we need with the World Cup. And reports say HPD will have to put in more than 520,000 hours of overtime. Staffing the assignments, the coordination, the interagency coordination of facilitating of these hours, bringing people in on their days off, canceling days off, which the entire police department is done. They're all mobilized right now. Retired HPD captain, Dr. Greg Freeman, says the city won't be on the hook for all of this because we've gotten grants from the state and the federal government. 5.05, you'd never hear this from Mr. Rogers. Children's influencer, Ms. Rachel, recently visited an ice facility in New Jersey and said the Trump administration is terrorizing kids. The fact that Ms. Rachel is singing songs and pretending that she is hearing about children is just outrageous, particularly from what we're learning about Biden and how Biden was separating families, things that the Trump administration has not done. Education experts Sherry Sylvester. More than 100,000 families have received vouchers as part of Texas's new school choice program. Travis Pillow with the controller's office says they're all either low or middle income. About three quarters of them have household incomes below 200% of the federal poverty level. He says the program is doing what it's supposed to do. Despite last year's flooding summer camps did not struggle with enrollment this season.

Do you ever do that? sell lemonade at the corner, you know, and hope the health department didn't show up. Our neighbor's still ratting kids out for selling lemonade. I hope not. We've had quite few kids in our neighborhood doing it lately. I think it's a great opportunity to teach kids a lot of things. As a matter of fact, I want to say it was some similar situation with my dad where I learned how to make change. He thought that was a really important, well, first of all, it's math. Second of all, have you ever been to like a fast food restaurant where you actually paid cash? And the person accepting your money had to try to make change, especially if you really throw them for a loop and you round it up by giving them a couple pennies or a dime or something. And then they really got to try to figure out what's going on. It's funny. It's a funny thing to watch people try to make change. They have no clue how to make change. So it's a valuable lesson. However, running a lemonade stand should not be dangerous, even in a big city like Boston. But in this case, it was an 11-year-old girl under 12-year-old brother approached by two suspects, one of whom is 14 years old himself. And the 14-year-old has been arrested for an armed robbery. Yep, they walked up and they asked the kids if they took Apple PayPal. And before the kids could answer, he flashed a gun he had in his waistband and demanded their money. They got away with about, well, they got caught, but they got away with about 50 bucks. The arrested suspect facing multiple firearm-related charges, including two counts of armed robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. The second individual remains at large. They targeted this 11-year-old girl's lemonade stand. The Boston Police Department said the pair had made several passes by the stand before they approached and asked for the money. And again, about 50 bucks is what they got away with. So for 50 bucks, you've got a 14-year-old who's now going to do whatever he's going to do in the juvenile system, which probably isn't much. You know, you're 14 years old. You're flashing a firearm to little kids to rob them of their lemonade money.

Lightning has really started to increase there in the last 30 minutes or so. So some pretty intense storm starting to develop out there. And we are going to see more of that as the day marches on. Tropical moisture feeding into Texas leading to high rainfall chances much of this week. Even the National Hurricane Center is monitoring. monitoring it for signs of tropical development, but I don't think that's going to be the case. I think it's just going to be a very wet week here. He's president of the Consumer Energy Alliance and get his thoughts maybe a little bit too on this Iran deal and what that might mean for oil prices going forward and just energy cost in general.

Maybe it's because I produce so much of it myself. 622 is our time here on Houston's morning news. I think natural gas is the answer. More natural gas power plants is the answer for AI and data centers. You know, the more you learn about how much energy they use, the scarier it gets. David Holt joins us, President of the Consumer Energy Alliance. I was in shock when I realized we have over 50. AI and data centers here in the greater Houston area alone. Yeah, and there's up to 400 plan in the state of Texas. So there's a lot, and you're exactly right. We need a lot of energy and a lot of natural gas. What data centers need is really what's called dispatchable power, which is kind of power that's always available. You know, wind and solar can help, but they're intermittent power. So you need that always available kind of permanent power, and that right now is natural gas. Nuclear will also provide that going forward. It's natural gas. A lot of these data centers have to be reliable in 24-7, so they can't have any power outages. They just really need it to power the technology that's going to drive, you know, literally everything in our lives going forward. Medicine.

distribution, transportation, obviously tech and IT and smartphones and all the other things that we're doing. But it's incumbent upon the industry and government, local government, state government, federal government to make sure that we have that power and we have the infrastructure to deliver that power where it's needed. Yeah, I think the governor made it pretty clear last week as well that he is concerned about this, that we're allowing all these data centers to come in. Not that we... want to turn them away. We just don't want to drive up the cost of energy for Texas consumers because we have all these data centers that are using up so much of it. And he wants some guarantees that that's not going to happen. And the only way that's not going to happen is through more power distribution, more power plants. Exactly right. And I think that's the right approach. I think the governor's right. Other governors around the country that are looking at data centers are all saying the same thing. We're like, we're having a lot of the power sector folks also agree that. The data center guys are starting to agree to that. It's, you know, the power increase now is being driven by the data centers. So they should pay for that power. They should make sure the infrastructure is available in there. This should all not be saddled on the backs of homeowners, consumers, small businesses. And we're seeing that. I mean, it's a great opportunity now to build up this infrastructure that we all need because demand is going up. If you look at the Texas Gulf Coast and the industrial growth and the manufacturing growth there, that's going to need a lot more power. We're going to need a lot more natural gas for LNG and LNG exports. But data centers is the big driver. And let's make sure we get that done correctly and that we don't have an affordability issue. One thing that Texas does have that's a big advantage, if you look at the Northeast, if you look at the Mid-Atlantic, if you look at New York and California and other states. that have restricted infrastructure development growth over the last 30 years, that have said no to natural gas, no to pipelines, no to just increased power. They're the states that are really facing the affordability crisis. And frankly, they have a reliability crisis, too. So they're behind the curve on the infrastructure and building out the natural gas that they desperately need. Texas can get it done relatively easily compared to those states. But it's just up to us and our political leaders to make sure we have the wherewithal to get it done. We're talking to David Holdy's president of the Consumer Energy Alliance. I know that in the past part of the problem has been to get the energy producers to see that is worth the investment that they're going to make money from it, that clearly they are going to make money from us. So are they starting to realize, listen, we can go ahead and make these investments in these power plants and we know the demand is there and we're going to make money. Yeah, yeah, I think you're seeing a lot of that. You're actually seeing now some. some of the energy providers and some of the infrastructure guys, the pipeline infrastructure guys, are starting to partner up with some of the AI developers to make sure that they have the power that they need, but also the infrastructure and the power that we all need. So, yeah, that's starting to happen. The policy, regulatory infrastructure is catching up to this really big increase in demand that's happened relatively quickly.

just over the last few years. So I think you'll see the 27 Texas legislature take on some things to make sure that things around the edges are taking care of the right way. You're seeing other states start to catch up with it as well. So I think we're headed in the right direction. It's something we absolutely need. There's a big national security component to all this. And we're kind of in a race with the Chinese, so we want to make sure the United States wins the AI race. because once we stay ahead, and we're ahead of the Chinese right now, once we stay ahead of them, we'll always be ahead of them. And 632, our top story, oil futures this morning, dipping down over $4.5 to $80 and 34 cents a barrel is the U.S. and Iran will say there's an understanding in place to end the fighting. President Trump wrote on truth social, he authorized the toll-free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and a removal of the U.S. naval blockade, adding ships, start your engines, let the oil flow. Iran's deputy foreign minister confirmed the deal as well, though said negotiations for a final deal will be held over the next 60 days and that they will take measures if they witness any breaches. That is Fox's Jessica Rosenthal reporting. The deal will be made official on Friday in Switzerland. It comes after the U.S. hit Iran several times with defensive strikes and then it began after Iran shot down one of our Apache helicopters. This president has always put diplomacy first, but unlike his predecessors, it has to be backed with credible military force. That is what we've seen over the years. The only thing that regimes like Iran will ultimately respect. UN Ambassador Mike Waltz on ABCs this week. 633 here at home, a United Front by Texas Republicans against Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico.

I got to tell you, I have no idea. James Talarico talks about six sexes. I have no idea what six gender Jimmy is even talking about. Listen, we all know there's only two sexes. There's Jimmy and there's Janet. And that's all there is. Governor Greg Abbott at the Texas Republican Party Convention. The party, by the way, has got a new chairwoman Dorinda Randall defeated incumbent Abraham George and will join Jimmy tomorrow here on Houston's morning news. We're starting to get the first glimpses of what the next legislative priorities are going to look like after the convention. One of the top legislative priorities pushed was stopping the Islamification of Texas. If you look at what's been happening in the state, the issue of stopping the Islamification of Texas has become one of, if not the biggest issues on the minds of Republican voters. Brendan Walton's with the Texas scorecard says he isn't surprised that election security was also a top priority. We see what happens in other states like California. Making sure Texans can trust the results. There's always, I think, going to be a major priority for Republicans. Walton's predicts that we'll finally also see some major action on property. tax relief next session too. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio 740, KTRH. In time, the mainstream media ignored it, but there was violence last week from the radical left in Texas in San Antonio at a turning point USA event. Lydia Taylor Davis with Students for Life tried to talk with some of the protesters. Do you support what happened to Charlie Kirk? Yes, I do. Do you support assassinating people?

But the talk didn't last long because Davis was attacked by Antifa members. This is the behavior that we've encountered for quite a while as I now have to wear a bulletproof vest and bring security with me because of how violent left has become. The statewide average down nearly 50 cents over the last month to 350 a gallon. But oil industry executives are warning that summer gas prices could surge. Oil and gas expert Phil Flynn says industry leaders are sounding alarms because reserves are low, but the market is proving otherwise with gasoline prices trending downward the last four weeks. All the fear mongering we had heard about oil prices, be it at $150 or $250 a barrel, hasn't happened. And the reserves are there for a reason. tap in case of an emergency. So it's done its job. It's kept the market calm. As we find another way to stabilize the economy, I'm Erica Smith. And in return for that, it may be releasing some Iranian funds and ending the naval blockade, there's going to be like 60 days worth of meetings regarding Iran's nuclear program. Now, the president says that Iran is agreed to not build or to purchase a nuclear weapon. But they're still going to have talks about...

the Iranian nuclear program. So that sounds like that still has some things to be ironed out in it at the very least. Now, maybe the Iranians are going to try to shuck and jive us a little bit into thinking, well, we just want to build some nuclear power plants so that we can go ahead and take care of our energy needs. But I don't think we want them anywhere near anything nuclear. And I don't know that... After 60 days, we might find ourselves in another situation. I'll try to be more optimistic. I'm a pessimist about this. I'm a little cynical about the whole thing after all the starts and stops. But hey, I want to know what you think. We will never have peace with Iran until you replace those radical Islamic leaders with another Shah or her president they elect or something like that. It's just not going to happen. What has happened? Just yesterday. What's happening today? Happening. Like now, what happens? The things are happening. Stop! Right here! On News Radio 740, KTRH. We have both at our house, cats and dogs. They're indoor cats. I'm not worried about them getting exposed to the screw worm. The dog does go outside, but when he's outside, he's with me, or he's taking a walk. So it's too hot. He's got big old heavy fur coat. He isn't like it outside this time of the year anyway. So I'm not too worried about the screw worm, but there are pet owners who have expressed to fear. Here's the report on it. from our television partner, KPRC 2. New World Screw Worm. It's a funky name for this ugly little bug that can have a devastating impact on your pets. Yeah, it doesn't sound too exciting. So the screw worm is a fly larva that is planted by the adult fly onto the skin, usually into a compromised tissue like a cut or a wound. The results can be deadly. Now look, there's no immediate concern about New World screw worm infecting pets in the Houston area. But there's always something you can do to better protect your pets, right? Because they could simply pick it up from another animal or from another place like here at the dog park. And so preventatives that they take already can help prevent those flies from causing the issue. Nexguard and Crudelio specifically are very commonly used to prevent heartworms, fleas and ticks. intestinal parasites. And right now, they're approved for emergency use to treat this particular parasite and can be used as a prevention. Your vet likely already has your dog on a medicine like this. But your Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Sid Miller, says, check and see if your pup is already being protected. I would recommend it. But, you know, go with the advice of your veterinarian. I wasn't sure about everything it prevented, but I'm glad it's keeping them away from that. There is a legit concern of this happening. A dog in New Mexico was found with New World screw worm. But in urban areas like Houston, and with pets typically living inside during the hot summer months, the risk is low. I think here in Houston... Right now, we shouldn't be too worried about it. So on top of the drugs, what you also want to do is rub your pet all over. Really give them a good inspection every single day. You're looking for any open wounds. Places where the parasite, the larva, could really dig in and cause a problem. Your pet will thank you. Not once, but twice, put the good belly rubs in, making sure they're safe. Well, there you go. Just like you just to get a good belly rub. But I think, again, it sounds like what they're saying is if you're like on Brevecto or one of those other fleeing tick medications, then your animals probably are going to be just fine. The flea and tick medication will probably also ward off the flies. All right. Time for the timeline. There's a lot you can do to punish that behavior. Iran should not be allowed to sell oil or gas. Their economy should be pulled back as much as possible. Remember Iran cheated on the original Obama deal in 2015. And speaking of the former president, he seems mad that Trump got a deal with Tehran. It is doubtful that any agreement that arises is going to be significantly different or a significant improvement from the deal that we had. in the first place. Obama on ABC. Other political news this morning, Congress failed to reauthorize FISA and House Speaker Mike Johnson blames Democrats. Two-thirds of the president's daily national security briefing comes from the intel that we gather through Section 702 of FISA. It's not a game. It endangers the homeland. They've got to get it done. Johnson on Fox, the president once FISA reauthorized along with the Save America Act and Matt Kittle of the federalist says tying the two together is not a bad idea. The more these must pass FISA members of Congress sweat on this, the more likely they are to do what they can to pass it. He says the plan, though, is tough even in a GOP controlled Congress. Chaos at Discovery Green Saturday night. More than 500 kids gathered for a teen takeover. There were shots fired in the whole thing. The good news nobody was hurt. Two people with guns were detained. Now, according to reports, the World Cup in Houston will lead to more than 523 hours of overtime work for HPD. So who's paying for that? It's hard to tell without looking at the actual funding sources. We know it's the federal government and the state that's kicking in, but I can assure you that there's ample amount of money that's coming in from both those venues from the federal government standpoint and also the state. Retired HPD captain, Dr. Greg Freeman, says the good news is this is a logistical battle that the department is prepared for. Now, we were told that the tournament would bring a lot of business to town, and so far local restaurant owners are wondering. Where are the people? The restaurant's got the message, but they haven't got the crowd. Today, not too much people. Those business owners with our TV partner channel too. It's 705. This is who's teaching your kids. Popular children's educator, Ms. Rachel, getting schooled on social media after her recent trip to an ice facility in New Jersey. Ms. Rachel accused the Trump administration of terrorizing children. President Trump and ICE, they have rescued hundreds and thousands of children from trafficking. That is education expert Sherry Sylvester, who says, don't let the songs and stuffed animals fool you. It's very hard to be apparent these days. There are people that are pushing lies and misinformation. Ms. Rachel is one of them. And ignoring the fact that 146,000 missing migrant minors have been found under the Trump DHS. Jeff Andy Biggs News Radio 740, KT. Reese. Texas's school choice program hits a milestone awarding more than 100,000 vouchers. All of those students who have been awarded are in lower middle income households. Travis Pillow at the state controllers' offices. This proves the program was hitting its mark. One year after a deadly flood. Summer camp business in the Hill Country is booming. There had been worries that the deaths of 27 children and counselors would scare parents away from the camps that they had sent their kids to for generations. Eddie Walker, who heads the Christian Camp Association, says he's not heard of any camps that are struggling this year. Parents are so dedicated to these camps and sending their kids, so it's not really surprising to me. Well, turns out FIFA World Cup is just an excuse for the climate alarmist out there to try to talk about climate change, about look how hot it is in northern California. Look how hot it is at all these venues. It is dangerously hot. I actually saw that term. Lethally hot. It's so hot it's going to kill you. It's so hot that it won't be long until the FIFA will have to either change the time of the year they do the World Cup or take it all indoors where it's air conditioned, not have any more outdoor venues. Yep. Plenty of climate alarmists out there who just won't back off. Who just won't admit the whole thing's a great big scam. Anyway, Climate Depot's Mark Morano, here he is on Fox talking. about how the left is trying to use FIFA World Cup to keep the climate change argument going. They talk about Trump derangement syndrome. This is clearly climate derangement syndrome or CDS. Every event that happens now has to be destroyed by climate change. This is a group called Climate Central, which first off did this ridiculous extreme modeling scenario of the 80%, 81% chance by the year of 2040 that this city could have a high temperature. And that could affect the games. We have now the major media. corporate media and climate activists saying that climate change is going to cause People to drink more because you drink more in hot weather. You're going to have worse hangovers because the impact of alcohol is going to be worse in hot weather. The players, according to the United Nations, are even getting into this now, are going to run slower. So these drunk, badly drunk, hungover fans are going to be watching extra slow players, which I guess won't matter because they're going to have beer goggles on anyway and they're going to look fast to them. And they're called the most dangerous games. And it's supposed to be the highest carbon footprint ever for any games they've ever done. And on top of all of that, they're saying that they're not even going to be able to play these games because of the extreme heat and the future, and they're going to have to move it to a different season. This is just like bizarre world. It's just when you think you're out of the climate alarmism, they pull you back in for the World Cup. It is so much nonsense. And by the way, the hottest decades and the hottest years of the 1930s, according to the EPA, under Biden and Obama with the 1930s in the United States.

If we were holding this in the 1930s, it was likely the temperatures would be hotter than they are today in the United States. You know, hottest in the 1930s, also the driest. You know, that's the old Dust Bowl days if you know your history. Yeah. With the planes, you know, Kansas and, you know, the wheat fields all died out and, you know, just a horrible stretch of weather. 7-10. Remind me why we built an Astrodome. Why did we build? Oh, so we can have air conditioning while we watch baseball skymike. Because it's always been hot in Houston. And always will be hot in Houston. On any given day. People understand. You need to know what's on the table. Bust of surprises, both good and bad. Use Radio 740, KTRH. Well, securing Texas elections. That's number one on the Texas Republican Party list of top three legislative priorities here to talk about them with us. Brandon Walton's. He's with Texas scorecard. I will say this. It's an ambitious list, considering that at least, well, I think all three are going to be pretty difficult to accomplish, but I appreciate the fact that they're willing to take them on, Brandon. Yes, you know, the Republican Party of Texas held their convention right there in Houston just last week. And, you know, there's the list going around of these, essentially this list of 15 potential legislative priorities. We won't actually know what the final eight that's going to be eight that ultimately make it will be until later this week. Delegates cast votes and they need to count those to see which ones make the top eight.

You know, there are some that we would almost certainly to expect to make it, one of them being, you know, election integrity, as you mentioned. But other top issues included, you know, stopping the Islam... the Islamification of Texas, something that has been an issue on the forefront of a lot of voters' minds, especially recently, and something that back in March when the Republicans had their primary, it was a ballot proposition, one of those questions on the ballot saying, should Texas ban Shri Thanedar-a-law? It got 95-plus percent of the vote. It was the top vote-getter of those. And so we would expect that to be a priority, as well as ending property taxes, or at least, you know, getting close to... abolishing or tackling Texas' property tax system because, of course, everybody who paid property taxes in Texas knows that they're out of control and they have not been reined in despite the promises from some politicians. Well, I think on the property tax issue, too, I think people realize that as long as you have to pay the government for the right to live in your own home, you never really own your own home. People have a problem with that. Exactly. And to that point, you have Governor Greg Abbott, who was there at the convention, making his top priority lately this property tax issue. And he's been going around the state touting his property tax plan that while it wouldn't abolish property taxes or eliminate them, certainly not in the first year. It would, I think, cut most. Texans property tax bill, but if it was enacted, eliminating school property taxes for homeowners. And so. We'll see what happens, of course, with the legislative session. You know, these are these legislative priorities are essentially, you know, a wish list from Republican delegates who made it and decided to go to the convention of which there were thousands last week. But ultimately, it's the legislature that has to pass these things. And so this is just one step of the process. But it is a tool for activists who want to go down to the Capitol next session and say, look, this is what Republicans are asking for. Well, I think, too, what puts a little pressure on Texas Republicans is what's been going on in Florida. Florida has just passed massive property tax reform in their state. And a lot of red states are looking at as a potential template. Exactly. And, you know, it's a, it's always a great motivator for a state like Texas when Florida does something. And so I think that that's another side that there's probably likely going to be some movement on it. I would also say, you know, speaking of the governor, that the last time we saw him make an issue as much of a priority as he has seemed to make this property tax issue was for school choice. And we saw what happened there, Texas signed into law.

Coming up on 732, our top story, the U.S. and Iran, reach a tentative agreement to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump says the vital waterway will reopen once the deal is officially signed. The strait was originally supposed to reopen as soon as an agreement was reached, but officials say they need time to clear mines. The U.S. blockade on Iranian ports is also expected to be lifted, though it's not clear if that process has already begun. Once signed, the agreement will launch a 60-day negotiation period on Iran's nuclear program and the official end of the war. As part of the deal, Tehran will also reportedly receive phased sanctions relief. Ashley Strohmeyer reporting this will be signed on Friday. Oil futures at $80.34 a barrel. Elsewhere, U.S. Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, denied claims from the left that our military stockpiles had been depleted. Nobody makes better and more munitions than the United States of America, and we are open to co-production wherever we can. And because of this administration, we're supercharging our arsenal of freedom, building more, building faster, opening up the Pentagon.

We are going to make clear that in the future, only Republicans vote in Republican primaries. Abbot at the GRB, as the party gets a change in leadership again, Dorenda Randall was elected chairwoman. She beat the incumbent Abraham George. The Texas GOP's legislative priorities are starting to take shape to no one's surprise. Near the top of the list was property tax relief. Governor Greg Abbott has made major property tax relief a big part of his platform heading into November and going into the next session with a plan that would cut property taxes by at least half for most Texans. Brandon Walton's with Texas scorecard says he also expects addressing the Islamification of Texas and election integrity. to be on the list of priorities. This was brushed off under the rug by the mainstream media. Violet left protesters in San Antonio attacking a pro-life activist Lydia Taylor Davis with Students for Life. She told KTRH she was swarmed by Antifa at an event honoring Charlie Kirk. They know that we are winning, and so they are now resorting to violent and aggressive behavior in attempts to stop us because they don't have any truth on their side to win people over. So instead, they're resorting to trying to silence us. The mainstream media did not cover this attack. 734, the media also continues to complain about gas prices, but they're dropping now at 362 a gallon across Houston this morning, down nearly 40 cents over the last month. Some energy industry leaders were sounding the alarm that shrinking fuel inventories might trigger a spike. in prices. But oil and gas expert Phil Flynn says the critics didn't see U.S. refineries rising to the occasion to meet demand. We're getting smart about getting oil from the straight-of-form moves. I think we're getting smart about alternative ways to move oil. And there's this. America has become the world's largest oil producer and exporter. Texas already has the resources needed to meet the energy demand for AI. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright says he believes natural gas is the key to powering new AI data centers that are exploding across Texas. David Holt with the Consumer Energy Alliance agrees noting that AI needs a constant source. Wind and solar can contribute, but they're what's called intermittent power. They're not always available, and you can't really ramp them up on those hot summer days or cold winter nights. Natural gas is the mechanism that's going to drive the AI engine for the next several years. He believes natural gas and nuclear power are the long term.

Now futures up more than 450 points. And there's good news for the local real estate market pending home sales in Houston are at their highest level in four years. Buyers contracted over 9,000 listings during the month of May, up almost 6%. That's the highest in four years, according to HAR's latest report. Real estate expert Cliff Freeman says despite interest rates, people are still buying. People are getting married. They're having kids. They're relocating. And with over five months of inventory, they actually now have choices and flexibility that they didn't have during the pandemic frenzy. They were, they're upset because they drained the reflecting pool at the National Mall for a couple of days. Evidently they took out something like 10 dumpsters full of trash. that people had thrown into the National Mall or had blown into the National Mall. That's a lot of litter. They pulled all the litter out, hauled it all away, and refilled a reflecting pool, so now it's nice and clean. And there's been a lot of those little types of things going on in Washington, D.C. lately in areas owned by the federal government at the direction of President Trump. Yo, it's our 250th birthday. We should clean up a little bit for our 250th birthday, don't you think? Seems like we should. But for whatever reason, mainly because it's Trump doing it, I guess. The progressive left doesn't seem to like it very much. Then again, they don't like America very much either. They were talking about this on the five. Here's Jesse Waters. So I think everyone should look beautiful on their birthday. Shouldn't America on its 250? If you know, when you have people coming over, you clean up, right? Maybe you buy something new to spruce up the place. You don't clean up. You have someone clean up. It's not like Trump's out there digging halls and fill in the pool water. But listen, he is building the ballroom is an architectural masterpiece. It's designed in the neoclassical style, which liberals hate, because that was the preferred style of the founders who modeled that style after ancient Greek and Roman architecture. They took all of their philosophy from the ancient Greek and Romans. And so when you see these soaring columns and the noble statuary and the exquisitely designed reflecting pools,

When you let that go into disrepair, you're doing that on purpose. You're purposely subverting the greatness of America, the bedrock of Western civilization. You want people to be depressed. You don't want them to feel worthy of having big, beautiful things. You want them walking around in public spaces with grime and graffiti and homelessness and crime. So when Trump builds things in this style. It is a direct contradiction of their worldview. He's saying, yes, we are a great country and we have been a great country. They don't believe that. They believe this is an America in decline. America was never great. So it is a physical and visual reminder of our greatness and our connection to our European heritage. And that's why they're nuts about it. And you know what? I think that's a dead on correct analysis. I'll take it even a step further. Did you ever go to Washington, D.C. as a kid? I mean, as a real, as I recall as a youngster, that's one of the earliest vacation, family vacations I remember where we actually left the state and actually went somewhere. We went to Washington, D.C., and we went to Gettysburg. And all the buildings, super clean, beautiful. All the lawns manicured, mowed and manicured flowers everywhere. Washington, D.C., this is going back, you know, 60s and 70s. Washington, D.C. was beautiful. And then we went through all those years where things just sort of fell in disrepair. I think President Trump is just remembering the Washington, D.C. that used to be in trying to get it back to where it was. 7.40, time for traffic and water together. You know, there's no bathroom in the White House you can go to. Well, that's good. I don't think we need to be living, you know, leaving behind. I had to peeve the whole time I was in Washington, D.C. So what did you do? I went to the Capitol. They have nice restrooms in the basement of the Capitol. So if you're ever in Washington, you can't get this information from AI sources. You can get one from a White House tour guide, but they're done here. Let's do some West Loop here. So we've got a lot of moisture to deal with, old slow moving front, leftover remnants of what was tropical storm Christina over in the Pacific have kind of merged together. And it's just going to bring a tremendous amount of rain for us here in Southeast Texas through the rest of this week. Heavy rain and storms in the forecast were under a flood watch through 7 a.m. Wednesday. I think that gets extended beyond that. And we've got rain in the forecast all week long. Mid-80s for highs today, mid-70s tonight. More rain tomorrow. It's going to be heavy. We'll see temperatures tomorrow in the mid-80s. All right, well, evidently, despite higher fuel prices, higher prices for everything in the world of travel, hotels, everything. You're still funny to keep your summer vacation. Why? Because I deserve it, right? I'm getting right going on my summer vacation. I actually have two summer vacations this year. So, yep, we haven't changed our plans. We still need to get away. We still need to recharge. We still need to do the things that we like to do. And evidently, a lot of Americans feel that way. And it's showing. In fact, the head of Marriott, the international CEO of Marriott hotels, Anthony Capuano, here's what he had to say on Fox business about what's going on with the travel industry. We're feeling really good about the demand patterns everywhere in the world with the obvious exception of the Middle East, here at home in the U.S. We saw revenue per available room in Q1 grow over 4%. And what was really encouraging about that, for the last number of quarters, we've seen luxury strong, but we really saw strength across every quality tier where we compete. And when you look at some of the macro data, this year, U.S. travel spend is expected to set a record, $1.4 trillion. And so this shift we've seen in consumers to prioritizing their... disposable income towards travel and experiences is really compelling trend as it relates to our performance. And as you might expect, we've looked back over decades about the impact or the correlation between oil prices and travel trends. And it's almost counterintuitive. Over prior periods where you saw a big spike in fuel prices, you didn't see the parallel drop in travel demand that you might expect. And that seems to be holding true even in the elevated fuel price environment. find ourselves in today. Yep, we're spending the money for travel and there's that word again, experiences, you know, going and doing something that's memorable, something that you'll remember for the rest of your life that's still very, very important to people.
