91 segmentsThis is an I-Heart podcast. Guaranteed Human. Our little podcast is the podcast that could, the little engine that could. You know, when we started, it was just a simple rebroadcast of our show, and they would take it over and put it on this new podcast platform. I didn't think anything of it. Before long, we started hearing from people all over the country where we don't air on the radio in the town where they are. And I would say, well, how are you hearing us? Did you find us online? And they say, no, I was on a podcast. Or, as happens for more than anything else, somebody sent me an email, say, hey, check out this podcast. He's from Houston, talks a lot about Texas, but talks about national stuff, and I think you'll like him. And that's how our little podcast grew to be one of the top in the country. It's pretty cool. And so we have show sponsors on the radio. We have show sponsors on the podcast. One of them's a good buddy of mine. His name is Ray Breyer's. And he owns the Pipeyard Inc. And what he does on his cell phone is people call and go, hey, I got a 118 mile pipeline going through Louisiana into Mississippi. And he says, all right, let me go check it out. He goes out. He rips that pipe out of the ground all the way. And he goes off and sells that to somebody else who needs the pipe. It's a beautiful process. And people call him all from our show, from our podcast, all over the country. Thepipeyard, inc.com. 409-788 pipe. 409-78 pipe. Talk to Ray, the pipe ma'amma, good buddy. Turns out, at least according to my urologist, that all that talk about taking testosterone is bad for your prostate. That was based on one study that's been debunked. But you know what? Don't trust me. Do your own reading. Cross-reference. Learn more. Go to fixmylowtie.com. That's synergenics. That's who I use for my testosterone replacement. It makes me energetic. It makes me happy. I lost some belly fat out of it, which was really nice. And yes, it does that too. FixMylowt.com. Whether you having a big party coming up or you want to give a gift. of a special drink, specs, wines, spirits, finer foods, cigars, Houston owned and operated, the most knowledgeable staff in the industry. I go to the Midtown location, but there's one near you. Houston owned and operated, incredibly knowledgeable staff, and nobody has the selection they do. If they don't have it, in most cases, they'll get it for you. Specks, wines, spirits, finer foods, cigars, and more.
It's that time. Lock and load. The Michael Vary Show is on the air. I do single-engine fighters in the Air Force, but this plane has four engines. It's an entirely different kind of flying altogether. It's an entirely different kind of flying. All my bags are back, ready to go. I'm standing here outside your door. You're seeing people and passengers waiting to get through these security checkpoints. So again, just a very, very busy morning. I checked online, and right now it is showing a three and a half hour wait time for folks out here. I've got the chance to speak with a few people. They told me they've been waiting in a line for about 45 minutes. Others told me that their flight is in eight hours, but they were coming early. We can ask some folks here. How long have you all been waiting? Yesterday? Since yesterday? No, yesterday was six out. Yesterday was six? You gave up. You came back? Yeah, we're on choice. I'm just waiting. Just waiting. I'm leaving on a jet plane. Don't know when I'll be back again. Oh, babe, I hate to go.
We spoke with other folks who told me that they were coming eight hours early in order for their flight. So again, a long wait here. So this ongoing shutdown, of course, affecting TSA workers' pay. Over the last month, it's led to a lot of different callouts across the U.S. So the Department of Homeland Security released Sunday's callout rates from some of the most impacted airports. More than 11% of TSA officers nationally have called out. and 3,400 workers. And at the top of the list is Louis Armstrong, New Orleans International Airport, with more than 42% of their TSA staff calling out. Bush Intercontinental came in at number three with 39%. It's like I picked the wrong week when I'm in front of me. in the country may be as aware of the problem as we are here in Houston. I guess it depends on, I know our friends, WR&O listeners in New Orleans are experiencing us. I know our friends in Newark are listening to it or are aware of it. But what we have right now is an absolute collapse of the most simple systems in our country. What we are watching is the dysfunction of the American political system because the types of people who have now occupied it are absolute and utter scoundrels. This is Idi Amin. This is Pol Pot. These people are monsters.
And what they are doing to my country and my neighbors, we've got people who are missing flights to see their loved one buried. We've got people whose vacations are canceled. Their flight to have their surgery done canceled. Lives turned upside down. But here's what's important. It's not that we don't have the planes to fly the people in this country that want to fly to their meeting, to their relatives funeral, to their wedding. Nope, we have the planes. We don't lack the fuel. No, we figured out how to put a box in the air, how to air condition it, how to pressurize it, how to move it faster. We've provided sufficient fuel that we can do this all day. You look at a map of all the flight. We can do that. We've trained pilots to fly them. We have the technology where we can land them. Now, we saw it LaGuardia. We're still going to crash into stuff because we're going to have, anyway, we'll get to that in a moment. The people have the money to buy the ticket. They paid for their ticket already. But we can't manage to run a basic airline in this country, basic air travel in this country. Why? Oh, because before you get on the plane, 25 years ago, we decided you needed to spend 10 seconds going through a little scanner to see if you have something on you. And over the 10-second scanner issue, we've ruined everything. If you fly private, you don't go through the scan. I just get on the plane. That's what rich people do. Increasingly, they're doing that. So what are we doing here? Why are we allowing? Do you know why they took down planes, why the 9-11 hijackers took down planes? Instead of going into a stadium or a school or a mall? Because when you can disrupt America's air traffic, you can disrupt America's economy. Well, the new terrorists or the Democrats who are refusing to fund the TSA agents. So I say, emergency bill, do away with the TSA. Period. Just that simple. It's not hard. They hate their jobs anyway. Can you blame them? They're not getting paid. Now they're calling in sick. The American people are being put through a hell over what? Nobody stops because 20 Muslims? Took four planes down? That's really what this is. Well, they took down more than four planes, actually. They took down far more than that across the country, across the world. And now we find out, oh, well, members of Congress, Delta's so mad at them that they're going to take away their little treat. Did you know that members of Congress don't have to go through what all you have to do at the airport? Here's your problem. Atlanta News First with the story.
Atlanta's airport is one of the many major airports that saw complete chaos at TSA checkpoints, all due to staffing shortages with the partial government shutdown. What we experienced this past weekend was four hours in Hartsfield Atlanta Airport, which was just an atrocity. Hartsville Jackson is seeing a TSA call out rate of nearly 40%. Delta Airlines putting pressure on lawmakers, stopping Congress member perks for now. These perks included... services like airport escorts and red code services. They should, yes, very fair. They should do it all the time, though, not just this time. Leslie Lumpkins disagrees and things travel needs to be seamless for lawmakers. Our elected officials need to be protected. They need to travel because they need to represent us. In a video statement, Senator Raphael Warnock spoke on the stalemate between the parties. Everybody agrees that we ought to fund the TSA workers. They don't ask us, are we Democrats or Republicans? They keep us safe every single day. Travelers are just hoping the two parties can come together and do the right thing. A lot of people, two paychecks away from being homeless. So these people are out here and they're missing paychecks. What happens if you missed paycheck? Diamonds are forever.
Mr. Michael Barry remember that. In the radio or TV business, when you tease something or promote something, coming up at 10, we're going to tell you how your refrigerator is going to kill you. There is supposed to be what's called a payoff. And that means if you tell me that you're going to tell me how this is done or who did this, then you've got to have a payoff. So if the station where you're listening earlier today, if you're listening to a radio broadcast, terrestrial we call it, that means radio, it goes out through the radio airwaves, even if, well, no, that's too deep in the ways. But if you're listening, And you've been listening to another show on that station, Clay and Buck or Sean Hannity or whoever that might be, Jesse Kelly, whoever came before us on your station. And you heard me say, I'm going to tell you the story about the Democrat who wants to put ICE agents in prison, in jail at least, for working to help relieve the... pressure at the airport by getting people on their plane faster. Yeah, because he hates ice agents. Well, here's your payoff. That's your lesson on radio terminology for the day. A guy who does not have this much anger for murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, illegal aliens, the district attorney in Philadelphia, named is Larry Katt Krasner. He's a George Soros-backed district attorney. Michael, why does George Soros do this? Well, let me explain something to you. Let's say you were Steve Jobs, or now Tim Cook, and you ran Apple computers. And there was a competitor computer company. And let's say that was orange computers. And y'all were locked in a battle. And you didn't want them to develop the iPhone or the iPad or iTunes or anything before you. And it was, I mean, it was coming down to the wire. And you had the ability to send someone into orange computers. You're a big competitor who would absolutely tear the place apart. Turn everybody against each other. File lawsuits. break the equipment, flood the offices, lock the doors, change the keys, get the electricity cut off, all the things that would distract orange computers from being able to develop products faster than Apple computers so you'd have first mover advantage. So you could beat them, right? That's what Soros is doing, and he's using Democrats to do that. Well, why would the Democrats agree to do this? Great question. Because you can't imagine people would do this because you'd never do this. So the first thing you have to do is suspend everything you know about yourself from the Democrats. Why? Why would they do this? Because these are people who will benefit from doing whatever Soros tells them to do. That's where the money comes from. That's where the dictate comes from. They want to be the district attorney.
Now, along the way they've been convinced that America is evil. And they actually, and this is a hard part to believe, when you realize that Jasmine Crockett or Barack Obama or any of these nut jobs, they actually think they're making America better. People don't join the Communist Party because they want to burn America to the ground. They join the Communist Party because they say capitalism is evil. Some people are hungry. Some people are homeless. Some people don't have a chance. And all that's true. We don't disagree on the problem. They say, well, the system has failed. So I'm going to be part of the solution. That's not to defend them. You have to understand their mindset. So here is the district attorney, the chief law enforcement officer of Philadelphia. This is a guy who called ice agents. These are people, I know some ice agents. You may too. These are guys that want to serve and protect. Sheep dog mentality. This is a guy that if you walk up to his girlfriend or his wife and you insult her, he will beat you to a pole. If you bring harm to his mother, he would beat you to a pulp. If he's driving past you at night on a farm to market road, and he is the only vehicle that passes you, and there's no lights anywhere, and it's cold and desolate, and you're clearly on the side of the road trying to change your tire and don't know what you're doing, he will drive past you, see what's going on, stop, turn around and come back, and get out, knowing that you may have somebody staged in the woods with a gun. to knock him in the head and take everything he's got, kill him and leave him right there so nobody will know what happened to him. That's the kind of people that we're talking about. Is every ICE agent great? No. No, they're not. Of course not. Every cop's not great. We always need to say that for some reason. But we don't ever need to say that every congressman's not great. You got more philandering? cheating, lying, stealing, conniving criminals in Congress than you do in any law enforcement agency other than maybe Adams County, according to Afro Man. So here's the district attorney of Philadelphia calling ICE agents Nazis. You know what I find crazy? Everybody, all these Republicans were up in arms. that President Trump did not pay respect to Robert Mueller. Oh, Miller's a great man. And he said, I'm glad he's dead. But they don't feel the need to ever call out the district attorney who's alive and doing evil and causing problems for ICE agents. Those people don't make enough money to hire private security. They got to live with this crap. Their families do. Well, now we have ICE agents. The president has sent them in. to try to move the traffic through the airports. And he says, I will put you in handcuffs and I will put you in a courtroom. And if necessary, I will put you in a jail cell. This is a district attorney talking about ICE agents who are carrying out lawful orders as federal employees. Listen to this.
This is how it works. You commit crimes within the jurisdiction that is the city and county of Philadelphia. I prosecute you. That is how it works. No, I don't take a phone call from the president saying, let him go. No, the president cannot pardon you. I'll say it again. The president cannot pardon you. And yes. I will put you in handcuffs, and I will put you in a courtroom, and if necessary, I will put you in a jail cell. If you decide to make the tarasso floor of this airport, anything like what you did in the streets of Minneapolis, which involved the criminal homicide of unarmed innocent people. We are not having that here. Our little podcast is the podcast that could, the little engine that could. You know, when we started, it was just a simple rebroadcast of our show. and they would take it over and put it on this new podcast platform. I didn't think anything of it. You paid your insurance premiums, hoping that you would never get fire, smoke, damage, water damage, hail damage, hell, we have so many. storms and hurricanes come through here. Go to claimdenied.com or email me and I'll connect you. Claimdenied.com. Daddy, that's a beautiful song you played me from your childhood.
Tell me about it. Well, it's written and performed by Eric Clapton, Slow Hand. Tell me by Eric Clapton, Daddy. Well, he was a really, really, really messed up, addicted drughead. who had a lot of demons from his early days. Here, son, read his autobiography once you're 40 and can handle it. Okay. Is it a love song, Daddy? Well, it's kind of a love song. You can say that. It's a love song to a woman. I guess, you know. There was a time when men wrote love songs to women. Okay, well, that's good, Daddy. Who was the woman? Well, she was his friend George Harrison's wife. Remember George Harrison, the Beatle? You know, yeah. Well, his wife. So my man, Eric Clapton, would go visit George when George wasn't there. George would be in London. He'd go to his country home, and he would beg George's wife. To leave George and marry him. Well, that don't seem right, Daddy. No, it's not. It's not. It's not. It's really not. But this woman, she must have been beguiling, son. Here's her picture. She's not all that, Dad. I know. But maybe she had some feminine charms. I don't know. Because there are three major songs. from my life songbook about her. Two of them from Clapton. One of them from George. Something. Which Elvis, and of course, remember, remember I played you that? Yeah, okay. All right. So you got Layla, which is his song about, he can't live with, you know, and you got, you're calling in the great literature of all time for this reference. Wow, Daddy, that's heavy. Yeah, it's heavy. Well, did it, whatever happened? Well, eventually he won her over. I bet George was mad, you'd think, but he showed up at the wedding. Oh, they got married? They did. And lived happily ever after, Eric Clapton, and George's wife that Eric Stoverham? Not so much. But before we get to that, he sang a song. about how beautiful she looked tonight. And it's one of the most staggeringly powerful songs about a woman and her beauty and him waiting on her to get ready to go out tonight and how it just knocked him to his knees the beauty. Well, that's a sweet song. Yeah, and how at the party when he's so drunk he can't stand up, she puts him to bed. Yeah, it's Clapton, dude. There's a lot more. A lot, a lot. This is why I don't want you to grow up to be an artist because we get to enjoy their art because we don't have to be around them. Did he ever have kids, Daddy? Oh, son. Yeah, you're old enough to know he had a child. Was he a good daddy?
complicated. He wrote a really, really beautiful song about his child who died. Oh, well, what happened? Well, he got this woman pregnant, and he wasn't married to her. He actually was with somebody else at the time, and she had a baby by him, for him, depending on what community you're from, how you say it. And they were living in a high-rise. He wasn't the best dad, but you'd think he was. But the woman that was there, she had the cleaning lady kind of keeping an eye, and the window was up, and the windows in his high-rise were from the ground up. And so you lifted them up so you could literally just, like, a dog or a child could walk right out. And that's what happened, and the baby fell to it. Oh, no, daddy. Yeah. We did get tears in heaven out of it. So again, the thing about most art is other people's pain and suffering. There are certain people who can take that pain and suffering sometimes of their own causing, not the baby, obviously, but... And they can write art that then we normal people... can incorporate into our own lives, and it becomes a salve to our own wounds. And that's the way art works. But, Daddy, that's a lot. Yeah, oh, no, it is. It is. It is. But let me tell you about Derek and the Domino's, because that's, I mean, that's, that was special. And then you got, I get off on 57 shit. That's also special. Daddy, it feels like every story you tell me about an artist whose art you love, their personal lives are an absolute wreck. Son, you are beginning to understand the complexities of life. And that is why you must understand. That you can like a song. That song can speak to you. That song can get under your skin. It can get to the parts of the body. You can't wash. It gets like grit and sand. It gets in there and it's just part of you. You carried around with you. And when that song comes on, it moves you. Sometimes you sing that song to get yourself through a situation. Sometimes there's a scene in a movie that will be like that. And sometimes you can believe that that actor in the movie is the person that you see and you want to be that person. You might choose your career behind the way they act in that movie. You might think if I ever met him, I'd fall to the floor and roll around because he's the greatest thing ever, but he is not that person. And somebody can write a song or sing a song or play the lead guitar on a song. And that song can move you on a personal level, but that's art. And sometimes that guy that can move you on such a deep personal level can think that everything about your life is stupid. If you're a law enforcement officer, that you're a Nazi, if you're a small business owner that you're getting rich and ought to have to give it all back. And sometimes that guy who's never been married or...
has been married five times, beaten women, made babies he never raised. Sometimes those people, remember Bob De Niro, we're talking about being a great actor and he is a great actor? He's an absolute mess. So what you have to understand as an adult, sophisticated, mature adult, is how to separate and compartmentalize. He can be really good in Raging Bull or taxi driver. But his political opinions are crap. You don't listen to him. You don't take him to heart. Daddy, that's a lot. I know. What it do is power all the people champ. What's up, baby? Right now you are tuned in to the Michael Barry show. Keep it lock right here. More truth on the way. More honest opinions coming at you right here. Only on the Michael Barry show. Daddy, tell me at least your favorite Willie Nelson doesn't have bad politics. Something please don't ask. Bidding on a book. He's the worst of the worst. Not all of his hair. Oh, man. An Air Canada flight attendant was thrown more than 300 feet from the plane when it crashed into a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport Sunday night and survived.
I don't know how long it's been since you've been to a football game. But don't count the end zones. But from goal line to goal line, if you're sitting at the 50-yard line, that's a pretty good distance one way to the other. If you was to go down on the goal line of one end of the field and stand at the goal line, Like your Dionne Bernie Sanders about to run back a kick or the great crawl roaches? Oh, the great crawl roaches. Golly, it makes me happy to think about him. He was so much fun to watch Return kick-offs and punts back in the day for the Oilers. Anyway, you imagine you're at one goal line and you look all the way down there. It's a long way. Now you imagine you're on a plane. Coming in at over 100 miles an hour taxing, you smash into a fire truck or it smashes into you. I'm not clear which one happened first. It's almost midnight. You're tired. You're planning on landing. You see those stewardesses? Man, they look so tired. That's a rough life, man. Because people are awful on airplanes. They're just awful. I'm surprised how awful they are. But you see people because they have anxiety over flying. So they get on. And what people used to do is they were so nervous and they finally get to their seat because they've been through TSA and they get there. And, you know, they're treated like cattle. And they finally get settled in their anxiety trying to calm it. And then they start throwing down them drinks. And they're dehydrated because most people are dehydrated already anyway. They're dehydrated and they're throwing down them drinks. Oh, it is not good. And they're mean to the stewardesses. I've watched it. And then the airline said, we're not going to let you be mean anymore. You so much is aggravate a stewardess. And now we'll get you thrown out and kicked off our airline forever. So the pendulum swung the other extreme. It's crazy. The whole air traffic in this country, airline travel. has become miserable. And that's sad. That's part of what's going wrong with our culture. You can't interact with the public in this country. Airbnb, great concept. You've got unused inventory. You've got space in your house. Why not, when you're not using it, rent it out? And that was fine. Until you started having thugs rent it out and have parties and tear it up. Well, don't dare not rent to a thug or you're discriminating. Twitter, Facebook. You had social media accounts where you move across the country and you can post pictures of your kids so that your parents, the grandparents, can keep up with the kids. And they can share it with their friends and everything was happy until the wrong people, liberals, got involved and went in and ruined that. The church, your spiritual sustenance. Oh, they had to take that over, didn't they? Law enforcement so that the laws we pass would be enforced in the bat. They ruined that, didn't they? Anyway. Through this woman, 300 feet, and she survived miraculously. Safety experts, credit. You know what they credit? That was robust. She had something that was robust. Airline stewardess had a robust jump seat. Apparently the jump seat.
Was robust. Who do? Put more effort into the jump seat. You might save somebody's life. President Trump took questions after he swore in the new Department of Homeland Security Director Markwayne Mullin. He was asked about the negotiations with Iran. Are you going to send Jared Kushner and Steve Whitcock to do direct negotiations with the Iranians? Yeah, well, we're in negotiations, as it turned out, and now you've seen what I said yesterday was exactly correct. We're in negotiations right now. They're doing it along with Marco J.D. We have a number of people doing it, and the other side, I can tell you, they'd like to make a deal. And who wouldn't if you were there? Look, their Navy's gone, their Air Force is gone, their communications are gone. That's the biggest problem. It's very hard to communicate them between themselves. All of the anti-aircraft is gone. Most of their missiles are gone. We either shot them or they shot them and don't have them anymore. They're down to a trickle. Pretty much everything they have is gone. I don't know. Can you name one thing that's not gone or can you name one thing that's doing well? You know, if you read the papers, you think we're tied. You think we're in a tough battle. We are roaming free over Tehran. The city, Tehran, as opposed to Iran. We're roaming free. We can do whatever we want. And as you know, today we were going to have the privilege of shooting down a very big electric generation plant, one of the biggest in the world. And one shot to the right location, ends the plant that collapses. And we held off based on the fact that we're negotiating. That's what we need to do. It's the right thing to do. We told them we're serious. The right thing to do. I don't want our boys being lost at war if it's not necessary. I want what's best for America. Not Iran, not Saudi Arabia, not Israel, not Ukraine, not Russia, not Mexico. I want what's best for America. I am America first. Make no mistake about that. Unashamed of that. But you know who is disappointed to hear? I mean, deeply disappointed that negotiations are occurring. Lindsey Graham. Talk about weird vibes. Talk about weird, creepy, don't let your kids around him vibes. He does not want the war with Iran to end. He does not want negotiations. I don't want to think about how this guy spends his alone time. Oh, big day on the hill. Mama is exhausted. Where's my little kitty cats at? Oh, come here, mortar. Hi, bayonet. Oh, where are you, rifle? There you are.
Oh, all right, nothing like settling in with some hot tea all wrapped up in Mama's old sunflower blanket watching some TV. Oh, sizzling saddlebags. What do we have here? Settle in as we take you back to World War II. Oh, my. Actual footage of the carnage. Let's get the more in here. Alexa, dim the lights and play my favorite war music. and the machine guns just getting after it. Oh, oh my, it's an ambush. There's like 20 men down. Oh, God, oh my. Yes. Oh, yes. Oh, what's this? Here comes the money shot to be 29. Our little podcast is the podcast that could, the little engine that could.
