Build relationships with people here in Southwest Florida, especially inside politics. And the first person to ever sit down and talk to me, I may have told this story before when I ran for office was Brian. Brian was quick to have a lunch, a breakfast, a brunch, if you will, was almost. It was after my radio show, you and I sat down over there off a metro parkway, and we talked about politics in the process of the game. He says, man, go get it. Do your thing. I did the same thing. You should know what you're walking into. And he warned me of what I would walk into. And he was 100% right. great to have that relationship with you. You're my county commissioner as well. So it makes even better. So when I have a real complaint, I can just call you directly and be like, come fix this now. And he's like, I've got to go through the process. But Brian Hammond, Lee County Commissioner, thanks for being on the show today. And by the way, that's the service we give everybody. I was getting a sandwich at a brand new deli that opened up in North Fort Myers the other day. And some lady goes, you're Brian Hammond. I got to talk to you. And so, of course, got my sandwich. But I got a chance to talk about a code enforcement concern in that neighborhood, too. So that's, That's what we do, though. We're at customer service organization, right? Right. You got to get out there and meet the people and make sure you're listening to what they do. Otherwise, they get upset, especially in this particular area. In Lee County, they will, if you're not doing the wishes of the masses, they'll let you know. They'll let you know quickly at one of your meetings. So yesterday, we talked a little bit about traffic and the issue of traffic. And I even talked about it as we're here at this building, and that the traffic that comes in, even at 5 o'clock of the morning, that comes in, is... Busy leaving Lehigh, like it's heavy leaving Lehigh. Even coming in out of MLK this morning on President's Day, I saw an influx of traffic coming out of Lehigh at, say, 5.30 in the morning. We talked about it. There's only basically two ways out of Lehigh to 75, and they're jam-packed every day.

A, what's the long-term solution? And B, do you have a short-term solution for the traffic issue in Lehigh? Yeah, there is definitely a plan for that. You know, let me give you a little context real quick. Lehigh Acres was once a Lee Radner's ranch. And when he sold the ranch off, he cut the entire thing into basically residential lots, you know, some quarter acre, some half-acre lots. But they didn't leave a lot of room for commercial or for businesses or employment centers inside of Lehigh Acres. So what that means is a lot of people who live in Lehigh Acres have to travel out of Lehigh to go to work. every single day. A lot of us in Cape Coral have that same exact scenario every single day. But in Lehigh, you only have two ways to get south. That's Colonial or Daniels. And that's it for about 150,000 people who now live there. And so we want to build for Lehigh a third way to get south. And we would basically do that by connecting Aliko Road to State Road 82 right where sunshine is. So where sunshine and 82 meet, we're going to bring a leco up to meet it there. Oh, that's pretty. That's, that's. That's sweet. That's a nice little angle right there. It's close enough to not be out of the way. If you're really going down south, that'll alleviate a lot of people. That'll be anybody going south and corkscrew will obviously take that route. And think of all that industrial that's off of Aliko. Think of all the employment centers that are off of Aliko. And if you need to get all the way to I-75, you can then take that to go all the way to I-75 at Al-ICO. So I think it's going to be fantastic. The models show that that will take the most traffic off of Colonial and Daniels. more life out of Colonial and Daniels. You'll have this new route for people in Lehigh Acres to get out to the south. And I think it's going to be fantastic. Now, we've got to start working on this. We are actually, we've given the go ahead to our Department of Transportation to kind of just do what you can to get this corridor moving as fast as possible. And that may even mean reshuffling the deck on the construction schedule. So instead of opening a brand new, you know, four lane road with the sidewalks and the drainage and everything like that, we're even talking about getting the construction. schedule sequenced so that you could have maybe just two lanes open as soon as possible. As soon as possible. How can we get people out of Lehigh? Yeah. And relieve everybody else who's sitting in the congestion in Daniels and Colonial. What do you say to those who say once the two lanes in that the four lane will become a side project will become a back project? A back page project. We're not interested anymore. We got the two lane. Let's move on to something else. No, we'll approve the whole project. We'll approve the whole four lanes. But it's just really a matter of sequencing. start to plan how to actually deliver a construction project. You know, a lot of times they build half the road at once anyway. So the thought was, well, what if we open that half before we worry about building the other half? Absolutely, right. And then while the other half is being built, you've still got some kind of traffic going up and down that road, leaving that traffic issue that you have within Lehigh. You have a... A board meeting coming up. Tomorrow is it tomorrow? Tomorrow? What's on the agenda for tomorrow's 930 meeting? A couple interesting things on the agenda. One thing that's on the agenda is you guys are familiar with Billy's Creek. It was by the old radio station that you used to work out of. Well, Billy's Creek is a tributary into the Calusahatchee River. So if Billy's Creek gets polluted, obviously then that pollution will run into the Calusa Hatchie River and cause other problems. We've got a neighborhood off of Ortiz that's basically north of Luckett. And we're going to go ahead and work on converting that neighborhood to utilities. So that means city water and sewer, basically. Get them off of their septic tanks. Right now it's a really older neighborhood, older septic tanks, basically at ground level. We're really worried about what's getting into the water there. So we reached out to the state. We got grants from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and from the state legislature to help cover some of the cost of this. Because they found, have they not found inside Billy Streak? They found some pollution in that area. Oh, yeah, absolutely.

I mean, it's ongoing nonstop, right? It's been ongoing. And a lot of it is actually, you know, it's fecal type pollution. I mean, there is definitely a problem that needs to be solved here. And so that's what we're trying to do is we look at septic to sewer conversions from the Lee County side. We're looking for places where we can try to get the most bang for our buck and water quality improvement. I know that that's important and more important to the residents there to make sure that they have fresh, clean drinking water. And it's got to be nervous when you're on a well. Wells are a wild thing right now with the drought that's going on. So you have a lot of shallow wells that were built in the 80s that are dry as a bone right now. And so it is definitely an issue out there. And with it being so low, you would think that it would also... be susceptible to even more contamination in your mind. If you think about it, less dilution would make more content. the contamination levels to go up, I think. In my own honest, what else do you have on the other? Well, you know, it's funny you mentioned the wells. That is on our radar at Lee County. It's one of the things we're watching. At the last South Florida Water Management District meeting, which was last week, they actually dropped the green flag since we just had the Daytona 500 on a rulemaking process that will affect parts of Lehigh acres and parts of Cape Coral that have these wells. The rulemaking process is going to look at. potentially restricting the amount of water you can remove from a couple of those aquifers. And so what that means is it might mean that people who are going to put in new houses in these areas either have to drill their wells deeper. It might even mean that for the first time ever, they could restrict the number of wells that go in to certain portions of Lehigh and North Cape Coral. I'm on city water, but my irrigation is on a well. and it's not working on Sundays anymore. So I'm assuming I'll know for a fact, but it kind of feels like the well is a little dry. And they cut off the irrigation in these two spots. Right. Because, you know, I mean, you'd rather people have drinking water than water their lawn. Right, absolutely. And I think the water situation, thank God we got rain yesterday. I mean, it was such a beautiful sound this morning around 2.30, 3 o'clock in the morning, just pouring down rain. It was such a great thing. You are working on water quality, which is probably one of the number one concerns for most residents of Florida. We worry about our water quality on so many different levels because of the fact that any kind of negative to our water quality. hurts tourism. People stop coming down here. You start hearing people that don't want to book fishing charters when we're the inline fishing capital of the world. So it's something that you worry about definitely. What else do you have on the agenda, well, you know, speaking of water quality, the wastewater treatment facility that serves Fort Myers Beach in that South Fort Myers part of Lee County, we are, we have to rebuild it. It was damaged by Hurricane Ian. It is working, but it is not functioning at the full capacity that it should be. And so we've got to rebuild this.

Project's going to cost, listen to this, we competitively bid this, we got the bids and everything in. It's going to cost around $290 million total to rebuild this facility that was destroyed basically by Hurricane and restore the full capacity and also plan for the future as well. We've got to build a much more resilient facility now, so it's going to be higher up and everything like that. So we will vote on that contract tomorrow on the county commission agenda. And, man, we're going to get grant money from the state. We're going to get grant money from email. Thanks for answering my question in advance. That was my question. Where's that money coming from? Yeah. A lot of it is unfortunately going to have to come from the people who are on Lee County utilities, the rate payers, but we're also searching for as many grants and as many reimbursements as we can from the state and federal governments. Because, again, this was something the hurricane damaged. If you're just doing it, we're on the, wrap it up here, actually, with Lee County Commissioner Brian Hammond talking about water quality and water. what's going on. What is your most exciting? This last question, I'll leave it for you. What are you most excited about when it comes to the future of Lee County? Is it getting a peer back on Fort Myers Beach? What is it that you're most excited about? And the second part of that question, what would you like to have fixed more? quickly, but red tape is slowing it down. Yeah, well, I think you kind of nailed it right there. It's that pier on Fort Myers Beach. It's all of the hurricane recovery that we need to continue. Man, we wanted to build a bigger pier that's going to be longer and wider, right? But there's a large amount of permitting you've got to do in order to make that happen. And so we're still bogged down on permitting on that. We're working as hard as we can. But look, the federal government keeps having shutdowns and things like that as well. So it's not like permits are flying out of there. Right. But we will. Stay the course. That's the red tape that I would love to see. I mean, look, if you've got a government that's the size of Lee County, think about this. Lee County has a population that is larger than four states in the United States of America. More people live in the borders of Lee County than the entire state of Wyoming, North Dakota, Alaska, and Vermont, right? So we have a big 2,800 person sophisticated government. We have the ability to engineer things and build things in a way that takes care of the environment. We still have to go through environmental permitting at other agencies like... the Army Corps of Engineers and whatever, that are great people, but man, it takes forever. And so you would like to think that maybe you could create a way for bigger governments, bigger local governments, who have the means to afford... appropriate engineering and that kind of stuff to maybe do their own permitting or something like that or their own. It kind of sounds like that's what Byron was talking about yesterday. It's kind of like what you're talking about with the seven different parts of Florida that he was talking about and the fact that, you know, everyone's got to run independently. And I know that was in, we've had that conversation about how you want the DOT to be more regional. And I felt like he was talking your language right there when he was talking about regions. He was. And I was up in Tallahassee a couple weeks ago. And it's amazing to think of the possibility. that could happen if we had a governor from our area. If Byron gets in office, we have a governor from our area who understands the area and who also has a mind that thinks like, how can we innovate? How can we make things more, I guess, efficient for the public? I think he'd do a great job for that. And so I'm looking forward to talking with him about that F dot idea because we have grown so big now. We deserve our own F dot district down here. And I think if we had local planning, then the road projects would go much smoother. Right. We get that Lehigh extension built way quicker if we had a

But, you know, I looked at it, you know, I looked at, you know, really seriously thinking about running in this race. You know, I had to do the work of going into the different communities. And, you know, at the end of the day, once I did my due diligence, you know, I'd say, let me come to Glenn Show and let her know I'm going to run for Congress for CD20. So there it was. He's running for CD20 against Representative Sheila McCormick. She is the one who's indicted on fraud charges and facing House expulsion. Well, with their scandals piling up, we have had candidates coming out, and he's just the latest Democrat coming out in this heavily Democratic district. Broward Palm Beach area, Fort Lauderdale, parts of Miami-Dade. It is a 60% plus Democrat region, so that's where he jumps into. There are some Republicans. There's a Haitian-American activist focused on immigration named Sandra Dorsey that's a Republican running, and a community leader that's about law enforcement and family values named Rod Johnson as a Republican running. I don't believe that you have a outcome for the Uncle Luke. You know, I'm sorry, I don't think you see an outcome inside this heavily blue.

district for a Republican outcome. But it's not that it can't happen with a strong campaign to a lot of great backers. It definitely could happen, especially knowing that you have somebody with this, I guess you could say vulgar personality that is running for CD20. I know. Hold on. Let me say it again so you guys can embrace it in case you missed the headline. Luke Campbell, the founding member. AKA Uncle Luke of Two Live Crew is running for U.S. Congress. You got it? He's running for Congress. He's going to be a lawmaker, right? And he's going to have, you ain't nothing but a voting, voting, voting, voting mama. I don't know how he's going to do it, but I mean, you got to do it. And what would be his campaign slogan? I've sat here and kind of like thought about what is two live cruise founding members campaign slogan going to be? Hmm. There's a lot there. There's a lot to unwrap, a lot to breathe in, but the fact is there's yet another person running in that race. The 5 at 835 is coming up next. But I think we need to worry about the fact that you have Saudi Arabia getting really involved in what's going on. Some are grumbling about it being some sports washing with oil money. But it's big bucks for stars like Tom Brady, who's also being told to promote the 2008. possibility of flag football in the Olympics. So the flag football push is happening out there. But let me go on and just say that if Tom Brady and Logan Paul played a football game one-on-one and they could pick one player from anywhere to win, Tom Brady would beat the living crap out of Logan Paul and football. It would be ugly. It would be ever. Now, when it comes to WWE, it would be however the script is written. Number three. Let me speak to Americans. If I'm honest, America's biggest problem is in political or economic. It's all moral. You've drifted from the virtues that make liberty possible in the first place. Freedom. To be free. You have to have discipline. You have to have faith. You have to have character. And if you don't have any of those things, laws. Laws can't stop anything. They mean little. Government turns either weak or oppressive. So that was George Washington. What? Jason, how did you get a clip of George Washington?

Well, time traveled about 15 minutes ago, and I came back and got the clip. And I asked him what he thought of today's day and age. That's actually George A.I., Glenn Beck's AI. And they built this AI, and that's Glenn asked it to tell what is wrong with what's going on in America today. And that was the answer that George A.I. gave. This is a prime example of why it's important for us to pay attention to what's going on in AI. A prime example, the fact that he can have a one-on-one interview with something that looks like a real person and talks like the founding father and has the opinions of the founding father. This is what Glenn Beck has built out there. An AI that is basically a historical person talking as the historical person. Please be vigilant and understanding what AI is. Be supportive of these data centers and make sure you do your due diligence so that your electric bill and your water bill don't go through the roof for these data centers. It's going to be a matter of who you vote. But paying attention to what's going in an AI is why I played this clip on President's Day. Also, obviously, it's President's Day. So let's play the first president inside the five. Sounds like a plan. And I did it. There we go. Number two. Well, we have a fact check on this one, too. First, let's note that under the Save America Act, states will have the option to set their own discretionary process. They may accept both a birth certificate and a marriage certificate to provide proof of name change. And guess what? I recently got a new marriage certificate, too. It was also quite easy. We're showing you the process on your screen right now. Again, just a few clicks, just a few minutes. And we've debunked those concerns of the left. Well, the concerns of Chuck Schumer. That's who, Kylie, and help me out here. Say her name for me, Rob, let everybody hear it. Kaylee McEnany. All right, Kaylee McEnany. One of Trump's first press secretary. And I knew I was going to say it wrong, so I wanted you to help me out there. But she is basically... ending the whole conversation about the fact that you can't get an ID to vote if you just gotten married and she showed how quickly it was and how that is a frivolous objection to the actual SAVE Act. The SAVE Act is important for our election integrity. We have to continue to fight for election integrity. We have to have a safe, fair, and honest election system, and that's starting with the SAVE Act. We have got to get that through Senate. Number one.

I can't even believe it. I mean, it was so gratifying. I mean, we had four guys that were really fighting, that was helping each other out. I mean, you never know how these races are going to end, right? It's like you just try to survive. You know, I thought Riley did an unbelievable job by pushing at the end. You know, that shows you what teamwork can really, really do. I mean, he doesn't get enough credit. He won't get enough credit, but we feel the love. We understand exactly what he did. And, I mean, we just hung in there all day. I mean, we were a great strategy by the team. And we gave ourselves a chance at the end. And look, I'm ecstatic. I mean, I don't even know what to say. It feels like I won a championship, but until I get my ring, I won't even know. Right. Their ring, you won't even. I bet she gets a ring made for it just so you can have it, right? So Michael Jim Jordan, that's Michael Jim Jordan, who owns a race team 23, 2311, maybe I think is what it is, 23XI, maybe 2311 what it is. It's his racing Daytona, and they won with Tyler Reddick. He was given a... A lot of credit to one of the drivers, one of the teammates who was doing a great job of being a teammate and not understanding that it's a team sport and not an individual sport and making great things happen. I love all the people that get involved in owning a NASCAR team, and I think it's become a pretty sweet deal. And that. The five at 835. You know, I'm going to tell you a story. Lee and Carrier County, listen to me Southwest. The one, it just has me a little fired up today. spam calls, robocalls, scammers, right? Out of control. We don't like it. We don't like scammers, right? Well, the good news is the Florida lawmakers are advancing a bill to block spam and robocalls at the state level, giving residents stronger tools to stop the flood of unwanted calls. This is hard right here in Southwest Florida. Folks are bombarded daily with fake insurance pitches, fake car, warranty threats, endless. You want to cruise. All these things that you'll get on these spam calls, so let's block it. Now, this is by far... important to somebody who I'm you know I actually I went out looking for new homeowners insurance and now I get about six spam calls a day going hi this is Steve with blah blah blah insurance I'm calling about your homeowners insurance I don't want to answer every one of the calls I don't want to I don't want to have to respond to all these so I'm for this but at the same time this is yet another thing I feel like we should not be doing

This feels like another thing we are out there doing instead of, and let me break this down for you, just under six weeks left in session, and we still don't have any insight on what's going on with property taxes. It was the carrot that was dangled in front of us here at the beginning of a session, like it was going to be the conversation of session, and they would come out here and have an option to save you money out of your pocket by eliminating property tax. They would have a way that it wouldn't cost you more money to eliminate it than it does to actually have it. But there's been no progress. You got five or so options coming out of the House. You've got no options coming out of the Senate. Des Santos wants to have a special session to get it done. Is it going to actually happen? Look, I've already said it once. The likelihood is very slim. But if we don't stop burning the wheels on robocalls and the other, and by the way, I'll give you a list of them before we wrap up today. all the crazy things that we are out there voting on instead of pushing our lawmakers to stay focused 100% on getting the elimination of property taxes done. Meanwhile, you're worried about whether or not the same guy that can sign up to save your country can buy a rifle. We're out there worrying about that. That's a big deal. We've got to argue that till the end. When it really doesn't matter, if the guy or woman who's signing up to defend your freedom wants to buy a rifle, they should be allowed to buy a rifle. And for that matter, anybody who is 18 years or older. But yet, we'll sit here and fight that argument. And there are more than just these little tiny things. They go on for days. The things that they want to push instead of pushing the elimination of property taxes. The thing that's going to make it better for us. And yesterday I had the... Honor, like I've told you a few times today, as my sister station co-host was telling me, I was name-dropped as I was telling the story. I was at Alfie Towns's house for a Byron Donalds's event. And Byron talked about property taxes, and he said the same thing I'm telling you right now, that there's less than six weeks left in session. And with that less than six weeks left, the likelihood of getting it passed would be slim to none. But one of the first things, as a matter of fact, it is the first thing. His executive order, day one, will be to look at all the taxes Florida residents are being charged. And he is 100% into repealing property taxes altogether, the same as Ron DeSantis.

Now, there are options. There are other options. But he has a plan. And if it doesn't get done during the end of Ron DeSantis' term, I believe it will get done in the very beginning of Byron Donalds's term. And that's providing that he actually wins the governorship. Right. It was an interesting thing to say the least. But I really wish they would start focusing on the things that mattered to all of us. And you know what? We all hate spam calls. But the good news is my phone lets me block them. The good news is my phone lets me go ahead and say, block this number. This is a spam. I want to report this is spam. And then that call doesn't come through again. That sounds a lot more easier than us debating it in the House and Senate, and maybe, maybe not. It gets a law passed. It's actually going to change it. Instead... Focus on the things that matter to us, and the number one thing that matter to us right now is property taxes. And it probably wouldn't have, but you dangled the carrot. And now that you dangled the carrot, that's all we can all, that's all every Floridian can think about. I want that property tax off of my bottom line and back in my pocket. Southwest Florida, we got a prime example of why our borders are a joke under the Biden-Harris policies. Jose Juan Flores-Dorite, a 36-year-old illegal from Mexico. Just got nabbed by our heroes right here in Cawyer County at a fight at a bar to mockily. That's right, Cawyer County, folks. This wasn't his first rodeo. This guy's been deported. Are you ready for this? Not once, not twice, not three, not four, not five, not six, but seven times. This guy has been deported seven times. Since 2013, with arrest piling up for crimes like battery, DUI, and even more illegal entries. Back in 2013, he got popped in Texas for unlawful entry, deported. Came back, 2014, popped in Arizona, deported again. By 2015, he's in California, getting arrested for battery and deported again. Fast forward, 2018, he's in Georgia, a DUI, unlashes driving, deported in 2020. Texas again for re-entry after deportation in 2022, and now here he is, punching and get in a brawl in a bar, charged with battery.

and is set to be deported in 2006. Cawyer County Sheriff's Office ran his prints. Boom, they found the flag. It pops up for my show and he's been deported seven times already. Now he's in county jail. He's on an ice hold waiting to be deported for the eighth time. I'm going to give you a thought on this. I think we're missing the ball here. This guy wants to be here. We should employ him. He obviously knows how to get over the border quickly and very good at it. Maybe better than anybody I've ever reported on in my entire show. Maybe they should put this guy and say, hey, you're going to show us all the ways you do it. Right? Confidential informant size. We need people like that, the informants for ice out there on the border. And we need ice beefed up now. More agents, better tech like drones and barriers, zero tolerance for repeat crossers.
