Teachers Unions, California Elderly Stupidity, and Florida Ag Expo

Who does it hurt when they are forced to go into a state mandated hearing after the contract talks broke? Who does it hurt the most? Doesn't hurt the union. You've already paid them your dues. It destroys the teacher. The teacher who's already saying I make $15,000 less than the average person in Collier County. Now, it's hard for me to sit here and say, well, 74,000, that's pretty good money. And maybe you're living slightly outsider means. But this is what the vice president, who's also a teacher in Cawyer County, has said about his fellow coworkers. Listen to this. One of our staff members had to go to donate plasma just to get gas money to drive to a food pantry. That is a dire situation. So the district needs to do more to pay for, to help teachers get by. Yeah. How did it go donate plasma to get gas money? There is the issue. You know, teachers are probably and most likely the most important job that we have for our future. You have to get great teachers to teach good kids. And when these teachers find out that they can't live in Cawyer County on the money they're making, which is still pretty good. It may require a little bit of adjustments if you want to teach in Cawyer County. You know, if you want to live in the greatest part of town and you don't make the greatest amount of money, it will take sacrifice on your end and I can show you a prime example. When I lived in Minneapolis, and yes, I lived there, I did radio in Blue State Minneapolis. I lived in a place called Uptown. I lived in a one-bedroom apartment that in 2007 was 1,700 a month. Only knows what it is today. But I lived there, and it was a sacrifice that I took on other luxuries in order to make that work. But I don't want to get into the pay. It's all about the teachers' union.

If the school board, and I've talked to many members from different school boards, had the ability to give their teachers raises, they would do that. But they continually have to negotiate it through the unions, and it gets stalled. How many times have you heard contract negotiations over pay raises have stalled with the union? Police unions, teachers unions, all unions. And that doesn't hurt the union. It hurts the worker. It definitely destroys the worker. So I would like us to make some kind of movement. And by the way, we're a right to work state. You don't have to be a member of the union. And it might be time to get these teachers out of the union and empower the individuals. We have to get statewide reforms. And just for the record, Jenna Persons-Mollica is on board with hating some unions. Check this out. Are they afraid? when it comes to teacher unions, are they afraid that we're calling them out for red flags that we're seeing? It should be a red flag that there was former teacher union leadership in Duval County that was just sentenced to jail for stealing millions of dollars in dues. It should be a red flag that we have teacher union leadership encouraging students to walk out of class to protest. We are standing up for our public employees in the state of Florida. This bill merely seeks to add additional accountability and transparency and fairness measures. That's Jen and Persons, Malica, going after the teachers union with a new bill. And as these... Teachers unions continually get out there and deny what they do. That's what they're doing. So we have them on record. You see them in the background. You see Daly from the Lee County that is involved in the Lee County School Board. You see him behind the kid who's saying we have our, it's our responsibility to protest and they're shaking their head up and down. What would I do? If I was there and there was a kid saying it's our right, it's our responsibility and we're required to protest, I would have stopped them. I'd say, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, that's the wrong message. What are you doing? Step back, you're immature. But to allow a student to make a statement for you and you not stop the student from making a very crazy. statement shows that you don't have the teachers or the student's education in mind and you're only worried about your bottom line. And I'm talking about the teachers union. Call your teachers earn $74,000. It's above the state national average competitive with the country's $90,000 median household income. But. Unions block the merit raises. And you would have teachers that made great money and made more money for being great teachers. Who can argue with that? Who can even give me a debate on that? I would love to see it. So I heard a headline as I was on my way home yesterday and woke up to great news about said headline. And I'm talking about the child predator who was getting ready to be released on parole.

From a life sentence in California because he was old. Because he was old. That story is coming up next. You're listening to Daybreak on 92-5 Fox News. The truth isn't always popular, but it's always right. And it's heard here, 92-5 Fox News. Right. All along. This story has got me just fired up in multiple different levels, and I'll tell you why. Good morning. Welcome back to daybreak. I'm your host, Jason Jay Jones. So California lets a child predator walk free. His name is David Allen Funstons. F-U-N-S-T-O-N-S. I didn't make it up. David Funston, he is a 64-year-old serial child predator convicted of 16 felonies in 1999, kidnapping, lewd acts of kids under 14, and he was sentenced to not one, not two, but three life terms. Rightfully so. He targeted at least seven innocent children under the age of seven and a string of abductions and assaults in the 90s. There was a 1996 Roseville case where he snatched and molested a young girl. And this guy is the monster parents fear most. As a parent, these are the people that I fear the most around my children. But this guy had all the red flags and he goes into a parole hearing and says he still fantasizes about children. And the parole people give him parole and say he's truly sorry. Why? Because in the state of California, they have an elderly parole program. That's what it's called. Elderly Parole program. Before we even get started into how upset this makes me on different levels and how you can just 100% understand that you are. on the right side of the team, if you will. Let me say, what do you consider elderly? I would love to know, in general, What is your definition of elderly? And Rob, can you do me a favor before you answer? Can you Google what is the definition of elderly? So I know what age even Google believes that elderly is. And I'd love to hear from you, phone, text, either way. How old do you believe is elderly? Where you would have to be let out of prison because you're old and decrepit and Can't hold your pee. You're on the ragged edge of being in hospice. I mean, what is that age? I'm very curious on what you have to say, and I would love to see your text message and calls and 239-479-55-9-2 and get the average. You have to give them off the text line for me, Rob. Rob, what do you think first? What do you think is elderly? I mean, elderly, personally, I would define maybe like 82, 83. All right.

According to Google, the definition is of a person old or aging. And then there's another one of a machine or similar object showing signs of age. But what they're saying age is considered elderly is 65 and older, which I would disagree with personally. But you said how old? I think personally, 82. Yeah, you don't think 65 is old because you live in Florida. And as soon as you come to Florida, you save 10 years off your life. As soon as you arrive here. I just look at my parents who are in their 60s and 70s and they have more active lifestyles than I do. I mean, they're exceptionally healthy people. Right. My dad said his 80 was on a step ladder on stairs. He has no problem still functioning. Right. Right. Exactly. But in California, it's 50. So you're, I'm elderly. I want to thank everyone for being on the show. I really like you tuning in to this elderly man doing your show. So does that mean you get retirement if you move out to California? So elderly parole program is for anybody 50 or plus that served 20 years. So if you went to prison at age 30 for. raping like this gentleman, seven kids, or this monster, I should say, you will get out at 50 because you're elderly. I'm not elderly. So F you Gavin Newsom because Gavin Newsom made this go. Crime policy expanded under Gavin Newsom in the 2020 law and it lowers the threshold without excluding the serial sex offenders and the board ignored everything that he said in the parole hearing. He said he was truly sorry. So here he goes. Getting ready to walk free, right? He's walking out the door. Nothing you can do about it except for the prosecutors are pissed. They did so much work to get this guy behind bars. So what do they do? They find another case. Placer County DA refiled in 1996 charge within the statute of limitations. And before he was able to get out of prison, they took his ass back to jail.

And this saves us. This saves Californians from having a predator walking on their streets. When I said, what? They're going to let this guy out? Now, the Amelia is one of the survivors and she's now 20 years old. and she chose to spoke about it and said that she was disgusted and don't believe people like that ever change. He said that he apologized to all of his victims, and she said, no, I do not accept his apology because of her trauma. She now has trouble with infertility. She has trust issues. She has lifelong pain. And she says, quote, this man took from me. I have trauma. I don't trust anybody and warns if he gets out, who knows who he'll do it to again. And that's a fact. That's not speculation. Some people should never be allowed out of jail. Some people are just monsters. But this is just another point that... Democrats don't care about your safety. They don't care about your kids. They don't care about law enforcement. They don't care about prosecutors. They don't care about the rule of law. And they don't even care whether or not somebody's reformed to let that criminal, that monster, back out on their streets.

Seven little kids will have damage for the rest of their lives for this. Now, they're grown now. This was in 1999. They're 25, 30, 40, 40 years old now that have had to live with this. And now, because of what California did, they're now reliving it. They're going back through all of those memories. Amelia goes on TV, tells the whole story, and now she's going through all of those memories again. Even if you block them, which therapists will say you shouldn't block them and you should talk about them, but some people, including myself, block some traumas out of our lives. And then somebody brings them up and it's like a bam, hit you in the face. So Gavin Newsom signed this loophole field, loophole, he signed this loophole. He made this happen. The fact that anybody, and I just mean anybody with humanity, would want Gavin Newsom to make your rules for you in a country, much less than a state, should rethink their moral values.

I want to open up my phone lines. 239, 479, 5592. I'll get to it. Why? But it is kicking off. That's right. It's running now through March 8th at the Lee Civic Center. Bill Gates open 4 p.m. weekdays, 11 a.m. on the weekends. And it's a true showcase of Florida. If you've never been, go. But it is one of the biggest events in Lee County, where Southwest Florida, Floridians go to make memories. There's liftock shows and 4-H auctions, and I always love going to the 4-Age auction. I'm going to tell you why you have to go to the 4-H auction. Because one of your friends is going to buy some meat, and he's not going to be able to store it all, Chris, and you'll take exactly a little bit of it, Chris, because it fills your freezer too. Hopefully he's listening. I know he'll buy a pig, and I like it. There's nothing better than biscuits engrave you with fresh Florida hog. I'm just letting you know nothing better. And so I love that about it. And it's always a good time. It draws thousands and tens of thousands of people. You've been there. And it's just a great time. Families bonding over rides and live music and games and having that moment. A lot of young relationships are built within these fairs. And there's even an iconic tale on the internet of a proposal on the Ferris wheel led to a 50-plus year marriage right there from the fair. So it is a memory-making event, one that everyone enjoys. And I have to say that there are so much great people watching there that you see the people in their new relationships. You see people in old relationships. You see dads. You see moms. You see the whole spectrum of people. And you always run into somebody you know.

Maybe you go for the delicious food. I love food at fair. Steak tips are big there. Biggest one I think. Now, if you go back to my biggest memory of food at the SG Expo, it would be at the Southwest Florida AG Expo, it would be the glazed donut burger. But they don't bring it back. It's gone. It hasn't been there in years. Or... The bacon on a stick. They had this bacon on a stick, and it was like $8, and I bet you that year I spent 90 bucks, maybe even more, on bacon over the course of the time I would go multiple days to the fair. They've got Dubai, viral strawberry chocolate, crack mac and cheese, Big Mac pizza, buffalo, pinwheels, corn dogs, cut fries, chicken tenders, kettle corn, steak on a stick, turkey legs, funnel cakes. You know all the staples. They're all there. What's your favorite? Which one do you go for? Do you love the fair? I want to know. Now, I'm going to tell you a story about myself and the fair because I want to hear your story. So tell me yours, and then I'll tell you mine. Then I want to hear you. I know you got one. So before the break, I told you I got beat up by a monkey. So I did a broadcast from the Southwest Florida AG Expo, I don't know, five years in a row. I mean, I built this broadcast center. I went out there with another station I worked at and I broadcast live every day from the fair. I would go out there and go. just hang out and hang out with people. Well, during the early mornings of a Saturday, I went out right at opening, all right? And that was when I was going to go out that day. I was going to go out early and be there. Well, right when you walked in, there was a guy with a monkey. You may not have remembered it. But one year, and maybe multiple years, I just didn't look for it after this. There was a guy, and he had a pet monkey, and the monkey would do tricks and walk around and talk to people, shake hands, and you would tip the monkey, and it was cool, right? So I decide in my little broadcast setup that I'm going to interview the monkey and the handler. So the monkey and the handler come into my interview area. I got a video rolling. I've got it all going and we're sitting there. And I'm asking him about the monkey and if it does tricks and he's making him do a couple of tricks. And then I turn to ask the guy another question and I turn my back. on that monkey, and he climbs up over my shoulder and slaps me repeatedly like 14 times. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. I mean, it was brutal. Like, five times by a little monkey. And I'm, I'm like trying to defend myself. The handler's trying to get him back. And he's whooping my butt.

It was one of those moments where I was like, man, I hope that that video goes away. And it did. I lost that video. I've never seen a video. My buddy might still have that video. He's holding in for something special. But that immediately made me remember that memory of getting beat up by the monkey at the fair. It's just a memory. What are yours? This is like a viral monkey now that's got a stuffed animal that's gone so viral that if you Google Punch the Monkey, like his picture falls from the screen. That's how big this Punch the Monkey guy has got. It's a little monkey from Japan who was abandoned at birth and hand raised by the handlers there at the zoo. and to give him a surrogate friend or mother, if you will, they gave them an Ikea orangutan like stuffy. It's like a stuffed animal rangatane from Ikea. And this Punch the Monkey has gone super viral. And I started looking for the video. This is how I found out a Punch the Monkey. I wanted to give you the audio of me getting my butt whipped. I was like, maybe I can find it. Maybe you got posted, right? And I couldn't find the actual video. But I said to myself, I was like, oh, look at this. Punch the monkey. And I heard somebody actually post something and talk about it once. And I didn't know what it was. And I kind of blew it off. But now I know that Punch the Monkey is not the same monkey that punched me, but a monkey out of Japan that has got... So much love that even PETA's mad now. That's when you know you've done something great. When your animal gets so viral that PETA gets mad and says, oh, well, he shouldn't have a stuffed animal. You want to know how popular Serangetangas got at IKEA? You can't buy one at IKEA now. They're completely sold out. And IKEA donated whatever they had left to them to the zoo so that they had backups for this monkey. The resale for this orangutan from IKEA is like 130, 140 bucks right now on eBay. Yeah, punch the monkey. Exploding. It's so crazy that it's going like that. I, uh, The Punch the Monkey story just brought me back to the Southwest Florida AG Expo that's happening now and through March 8th at the Lee Civic Center. Always a big thing. And as the weekend gets here, you're looking for something to do. I may have just gave you the thing to do. And let me just, how about the weather? Are we done? It's time for the MAGA Minute on 925 Fox News. When the Democrats talk about affordability, you heard the president talk about this in the state of the union press. Hearing the Democrats talk about affordability is like hearing an arsonist complain about fire. It's your fault. You guys left us a country with sky-high inflation. You all left us a country where we were going everywhere, but America for energy. You left us a United States of America where the average family was $3,000 poor. So our attitude is, you know what? When you talk about affordability, you're exactly right. You caused an affordability problem, congressional Democrats, and we are here to fix it.

JD Vance, spot on right there, had that arsonous analogy, doing it out there, letting them know. Why did it about affordability they destroyed? Yeah, you destroyed it. And I've got proof. I've got receipts. I went and got great receipts. We all remember all of the things that caused this all to go down. The $1.9 trillion million dollar American rescue plan. where economists said, nope, that's going to do horrible things that overheat the economy, but it didn't matter. He flooded the markets with cash with recovery and already underway destroyed us with that $1.9 trillion American rescue plan. Also, the... Inflation Reduction Act, another $740 billion in reckless spending on green energy. It didn't reduce inflation at all, and it just worsened the deficit and price pressures. He destroyed the Keystone pipeline day one, which immediately made prices go up, made energy prices go through the roof. He paused new oil and gas leases. He went against it. Understand that's what Democrats will always do. They'll go against what you are wanting to do. All the things you think are great. I mean, these are exact opposite things you should do. Why would you ever want to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline and reduce your energy production? Why would you want to push? Anti-fossil fuel regulations so that you have to get electric cars when the carbon footprint on an electric car is worse than it is on a regular car. And then we won't even get into something that hit me hard. And that's the vaccine mandates and labor shortages. He forced mandates on federal workers and big businesses and then push those businesses to push those mandates. I worked for one. I've never been more pushed to get a vaccine. They even tried to get me to do an endorsement for it. I was like, no way. And then during the pandemic, you got a little stifened to stay home. 300 bucks a week of you all stay. Go on, stay home. A little federal pandemic bonus. And that basically discouraged people from going back to work. And that slowed down the whole process of people going back to work. Not here in Florida. We said we got back to work in Florida real quick. We didn't mess around. We did that real quick here in the state of Florida. And then you talk about the border chaos. Now what happens with the border chaos? You let all these millions of illegals into our country who then come and start taking jobs away from Americans, start making health care prices go up. Do you want me to continue? Because I can do this all morning. I could do this well through the Magamint. And that's why I went in a little early. We could talk about the Federal Reserve under Biden. We could talk about the overall economy was a disaster. And what J.D. said there, where we were all $3,000 more in debt than we were when he started, is correct. And there is no quick solution.

He didn't just do this overnight. Well, Keystone Pipeline he did, but for the rest of it, this is something he did over the course of four years and destroyed us financially. And by us, I mean you and I. I'm not talking about the country. He did that too. But I'm talking about you and I. The one's on the struggle. That's why you got to love what's going on with the Trump administration. It's coming back. Gas prices are down. Food prices are going down. It's happening.
