Yesterday we did a segment where we discussed the $2 billion shortfall for roads here in Southwest. Where was that day before yesterday or yesterday? This week we did it. And when we discussed it, we had a conversation with Lee County Commissioner Brian Hammond about the potential of a 1% sales tax. Everyone chimed in. We're upset about it. A lot of you talked about the impact fees. They had a workshop, canceled the workshop, based on the fact that they were pretty sure that no one would vote for a 1% sales tax and they had to find another angle and they didn't want to just spend their wheels. Good idea. So Brian Hammond called us yesterday to give us an update on what went down with that workshop. And in the process of that, I got into the discussion and friendly debate about impact fees. And then as we wrapped up, I said, the question is, who benefits more? And it seems like the builders, which are also donors. And he tend to think that I was pointing at him directly. And I want to say that's not what my intentions were. I was not trying to discredit anybody in that statement. And Brian has always been someone who will call in and have a debate with us on the show. So I don't want to have that particular discussion when we talk about the shortcomings and what's going on. So I just want to get that out front. But I do want to take some time real quick to say I have Doug. a little deeper into impact fees and the way they work and who pays them and and and where it's all going and how it goes down now yesterday i said around 10,000 dollars is the impact fees and we're only collecting a a mere 50 like 5800 or 5200 and he's like oh no they're near 20,000 that is if you add in
everything within it. And what do I mean by that? I mean the money that goes to parks, the money that goes to schools, the money that goes to roads, the money that goes to fire in EMS, which let me let you know in Lee County, according to the document that was sent to me from a Lee County commissioner, that we spend more than a lot allocated on EMS in police. I love that. That's why we're in a safe county. I'm all for that. But if you're wondering why the schools, are also having to cut back is because on top of the $9,000 they collect basically, or $10,000 they collect for roads, there's also $5,400 and $84 they collect for schools. Now, The roads, we only, now, so let me tell you the way impact fees work. Let me get into simplest terms on this. And you're more than welcome to jump in and chime in 239-479-5592. When you build a new home, not when you buy one, not an existing home, but when you build a new home, there's impact fees that you'll have to pay to the county. And these cover the things, like I said, parks, roads, schools, fire, EMS, admin fees. If you lived in, say, Collier, it also covers government buildings, libraries, community, regional parks like we do. So there's also a little bit, it depends on which county you live in, on where your fees are going and how much they are because they're substantially higher. And if you have a billion dollar home, they're even higher for you, if you have like an expensive home in Collier. They're higher. The cost of living, the housing prices are higher in Collier. And it could be in reference to that. But. So digging into this, 9,996 is what we collect, what we should collect for roads. We only, we discount it and give it up for $5248. And this was discounted to motivate, to basically incentivize people to come here and build. We have a boom. Building is everywhere. Have you noticed that there's an apartment complex on every corner? Have you noticed that we are building everywhere? And then schools are allocated to get out of another impact additional fee, right? 5,484. They only get $2,879. So now they are only getting $2,800 when they're now looking for $47 million. They want to, well, where's our money? They're not getting their impact fees money either. Not their full amount of money. They still get $2,800 per new home. So who does this really benefit? Is that $10,000 discount, and let's just put them all together, schools, the parks and everything, does that $10,000 discount motivate somebody to move to Florida and build a home here? Is that discount enough to be like, oh, I'm going to build a home instead of buy an existing home? Is that discount enough? Is that discount enough? And if you buy somebody who built the home from them, that fees are absorbed into the price, right? So that hurts the consumer for sure in one way or another. Now, let's put it into a builder perspective. Let's put it into like Neal Properties or the Lenar Homes or any of these other places, right? They build a lot of 200 homes, 300 homes. Boom, 300 homes. We're going to build 300 homes. Now.
They save $3 million. Not $10,000. They save $3 million. There's a big difference there, right? Would you agree? Like, I don't feel like I'm off base when I had this discussion when I talk about these impact fees. I don't believe $10,000 difference is going to make a difference when it comes to you building a home. When you're at the point of your life that you're building a home and you're choosing how you want your home built and you're in that section, that $10,000 is not going to stop you from your dream. You're not penny pinching at that moment. You're just not. Rob, the producer, I see you want to say something. Impact fees are basically only paid when a property is built on a lot, right? Yes, sir. Okay, so anybody buying a home that was previously owned doesn't pay an impact fee, got it. Right. Obviously, the builders will benefit from discounts here, but couldn't they theoretically just bake that into the cost of the house and double it? to make profit? They're already baking it into the house. Now, it's funny you bring that up because that's the second part of my point here, Rob. So let's talk about that, right? So they give this discount. Now, who doesn't want the builder spending their money here, creating our economy booster? We all want that. Everybody wants that. We all want that, right? But now that you have taken 48% of each one of those 300 homes and basically giving it back to the builder. Who pays for the shortcomings? Who has to find were those shortcomings for the roads, for the schools? Where do those shortcomings come from? Well, for the schools, it comes at the cost of this little, this girl who can't play the violin because they've got to find $47 million. For us, it's the congestion and the roads that are so far behind and put us behind that we're trying to figure out how to get a $2 billion deficit. Now, I know we got road projects in the head, and they are very good at looking forward thinking. And I will say that our county commission and both Lee and Cawyer do a great job of forward looking, of what they can think about for the future. I think that's a thing. But where could we cut this as well? Where could money be cut so that we don't have to discount impact fees and take away from this? I mean, I bet you I can point out one obvious one right now. As we just did this for the school, let's talk and do the same thing. Let's follow the money and find out some of the things that I feel like maybe you might be overpaying. For example, is the almost $200,000 for a year for a supervisor of elections a good, a good use of our money? Is that a worthy job of $200,000, a job you only really worked every two years? I mean, think about it.
I think it's a little high price. And I think we have a lot of grossly overpaid individuals if you dig deep into the budget of the county. But I'm not trying to take away anybody's money. And there's no supervisor of elections right now. But boy, you even have a county commissioner fighting to become that person. Because why? Because it pays close to a quarter of a million dollars a year. I mean, what kind of job can you find right now? that can give you 200 grand handed to you. Like, and you could get that right now. You listening right now, you could run for supervisor elections. You could be the next one making 200 grand. Yeah, it's a nice pay raise for somebody who's sitting county commissioner for sure. Absolutely. So when you... Think about where else we could find money. That's the point. But when you think about these impact fees, and let me just say it, these impact fees are directly affecting us. It's hurting us. It's not hurting it. It's hurting me who bought an existing home. And now I'm shortcoming. My schools are shortcome. My roads are shortcomings. It's hurting the person who didn't build a home. Good morning. You're on 92.5 Fox News. Tammy from Naples. Go ahead.
Yes, I think it's a shame that they're putting so much money into beautification. Our roads look beautiful enough. They need to take that money and put it into the roads. Get those fixed, then they can take the money back for beautification. It's a waste of our taxpayer money not to get our roads fixed. Right. Get them all fixed. Get them all going and make it work for you. I appreciate your phone call. I think the thing is, is understand that these builders have massive amount of influence. And if you were listening to Trey Radle yesterday, even Trey talked about the donors to win a campaign and how you have these donors. And these donors will get into your ear. And I'm not saying they're pandering to the donors. But everybody's got an angle. I'm sure the builders will tell you, listen, we would be able to build 300 homes without having that discount. And so I would say, really? $3 million is that big a deal to a builder that builds 300 homes? I don't know. I believe that your cost for your materials are lower when you build 300, you've paid less for the lots because you're bought 300. There's a lot that we could go into when it comes to that. But bottom line is the impact fees have... Shortcome to us to the point to where we should demand that they get put into full level. I have yet to meet somebody and it probably will be a builder who tells me they don't want it to be at its full level. Let's charge what it should be charged because we are in a day and age where 20 years ago the impact fees were higher than they are right now. And we already know what the price of things were 20 years ago and where they are today. So I just wanted to point that out indistinctly today on the show. Shouldn't we also take a look at millage fees, like how millages are working? Because from what I understand, you know, impact fees are much higher in Collier County and the millage rates are lower. Whereas in Lee County, it's vice versa. Impact fees are low. Millage rates are high. I didn't know that the impact fees were higher, but I didn't compare them to millage. I didn't do that before the show. Wouldn't that theoretically punish existing homeowners in Lee County? You know, I am, yes. We already get punished because they don't charge the full deal. I'm going to take this last call before we wrap up. Go ahead, Mark, from my Ava Maria. Go ahead. What's your thoughts? Yeah, Rob's exactly right. I mean, especially like in Collier County, the impact fees are to help build out stuff that these developers are wanting to do. I mean, so if they're wanting the taxpayers to fit the bill, put the bill to actually... create a way to get out to their development and so that they can make money on it. And the only people that really benefit from the impact fees being just kind of are the developers. And the market, the marketplace is going to set the price of a house. The impact fees doesn't or anything else like that. So it really, the, it's kind of an impact fee.
affects the people who have already paid their taxes to develop the roads to get out to their houses in their neighborhoods already. And that's just not right. I agree. I appreciate you calling in. And you know what's funny, Mark? As the reason I wanted to bring this up, and as we wrap up the segment, I just want to say real quick, I brought this up because I was uneducated on impact fees. So I thought it was important that we educated everybody on it. When someone brought it up, I dug deep into it. And I'm just giving you the education that I taught myself over the past few days and dug deep into impact fees. So you're more than welcome to do the same thing. We've got more daybreak coming up next. You're listening to it right here on 925 Fox News. Miracle Cassiano and Kate Coral wants to see Phil Wickham when he comes to Southwest Florida, and Positively 99 wants to send her. Oh, is an awesome God here, Casualt is in ways that we need right now. This is amazing great. Well, here Positively 99, we wanted to let you know you and your husband are going to see Phil Wickham. Oh, my God. Thank you so much. Miracle, what does this mean to you? I thank you so much to me. What do you think about having a station like Positively 9090 in Southwest Florida? I think that it is an amazing thing for our community. Thank you for being here in Southwest Florida. Congratulations, Miracle. Enjoy the show. Thank you so much. And I just have to tell you, like right now, this really just means so much to me. Thank you. You. It's like talking politics over beers with two of your buddies, except you're alone and it's noon. A little early, don't you think? Clay Travis and Buck Sexton on 92-5, Fox News.
Welcome back to daybreak on 925 Fox News. Diversity, equity, and inclusion. It's no longer a thing as Ron DeSantis has officially signed it into law and has the, that bans DEI from being used in any kind of school, workplace, or local government. And I think this is solid. Here's Ron DeSantis saying what he thinks DEI does. ideological construct that is designed to promote a particular political agenda, particularly to the detriment of disfavored groups. I would think with DEI, the disfavored groups, number one, obviously, would be white males. And I think they've been discriminated against. And it's like a lot of people, oh, that's fine. That's fine. No, it's not fine. It's wrong. Now, if you don't know, and I'll tell you, DEI, the definition. A framework designed to promote the fair treatment and full participation of all people, particularly those from unrepresented or marginalized groups that's used in workplaces in schools to ensure diverse representation, fair opportunities, and welcoming environments, but not one word about merit. about the fact that if I'm the better employee, I get the job. If I'm the better employee, I get the promotion. This law banning the counties and cities from using any kind of public tax dollar to fund promote or maintain DEI, man, it's a win for conservatives across Florida. Residents can now sue any local government that violates the ban. And let me tell you, DEI. in my own honest opinion, was created to divide us to the point to where we fight, to where we are in fear, and then we go and we hide in our homes, and we don't want to be a part of it. If you divide us, we fight. If we fight, there becomes a fear of the world, and you start to shelter yourself from that. It's what the Democrats are dying to lock us up in our homes and not allow us to have any kind of interaction with the world, right? And that's what DEI is a way to divide our country to get us into a fight. And it is the most racist thing in the entire world that you will say that this person, because they're black, should get this job because there's not enough black people in this particular career field, so he gets the job, even though... the one of the other isn't quality you know the white man is more qualified or the Asian man is more qualified or the Hispanic man is more qualified they've got to fill that slot and then it gets even deeper by the way when it comes to this it goes so much deeper for DEI and I just want to say that this is a win for Florida I'm glad that we finally have put it into law and I can't wait to see the first person to get sued.
You've been put on notice if you're still using D. I hope you're not. Hey, who wants a sugar mama or sugar daddy? One employee for the government has found the perfect place to find one. I'll tell you about it next. 92.5 Fox News. Right all along. Really? This is the part where 925 Fox News says we were right all along. It's company policy and accurate. It has no level. of judging when it comes to throwing somebody out for misconduct as it now has gone even deeper as the, let me go ahead and give you her actual title. The Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism at DHS has been put on administrative leave and is no longer serving in her role. Her name is Julia Varvero. She's 29. And she had a daily mail article that exposed her alleged sugar daddy relationships with older men for cash and luxury gifts. Now, here's a shocker for you. Julia Varverro is a Ph.D. in Homeland Security. She legitimately has a PhD and is out there looking for sugar daddies. But when it comes to looking for sugar daddies, isn't she in... The primetime location of D.C.? I mean, if you're going to find them, find them there. Now, why does everyone have a problem with her having a Sugar Daddy? Because here in Southwest Florida, I would tend to believe there is at least one Sugar Daddy or Sugar Mama listening to this show who are fully aware that they are providing gifts, support. monetary hope for their much younger significant other. There has to be at least one. This is the biggest age difference area in the entire world. There can't be more potential sugar daddies and sugar mamas anywhere in America than right here in southwest Florida. I mean, we have got to own that, right? I mean, we are the capital of it. Now, I always ask. This whole case come down because her ex-boyfriend, Robert B., and by ex-boyfriend, filed a complaint, claiming that she built him out of $30,000 to $40,000 in vacation, Cartier jewelry, handbags during a three-month relationship. I don't know about you guys, but back when I was in the dating world, I'm not one that would spend somebody in $30,000 inside the first three months of a relationship.
Did that gentleman have no idea what he was getting into? She was found to have a profile on a Sugar Daddy website. She's out there trying to get it. Now, the reason they don't want her on the Sugar Daddy website because, I mean, at first I was like, big deal. Who cares? She found love. She figured a way to find it and somebody's paying for it. Good for her. Right? There's some men out there. I bet you're listening right now who went through a divorce. And we're like, I'd much rather have a sugar baby than to go get married again. And vice versa. I know a woman who's a sugar mama. She only dates young dudes and she doesn't allow them to have an opinion in life because she finances their life. So her job is no good because she is in the assistant secretary of counterterrorism. What happens if a Chinese operative finds out that she's a sugar daddy scrub or whatever you want to call it and go sliding into her job? And... and manipulate and get information out of her through this process. So I get it. Now, when she was asked, why are you doing this? Why are you doing this? Her answer was, I didn't know it was bad to go on vacation with your boyfriend. Personally, I... don't care what somebody does on their own time. And I'm damn sure not going to be somebody who judges what you do when you're on your own time. But when you work for the government and you have a clearance, you have to think differently. You can't just go and put yourself out there. But I also don't feel for this guy. I feel like this guy knew what he was getting into. How do you not know what you're getting into when you spend $30,000 in the first three months of relationships? And there's a picture of the two of them together, and he's holding up a sign, a much older man, by the way. And he's holding up a sign. And in that sign, it says, she's horny. It is a... It's a crazy story when it comes to this particular. All right, come on. There's got to be a sugar daddy, right? 239-479-5592 is the phone number. And... For all the sugar babies out there that are listening, where should they go to find a sugar daddy in Southwest Florida? Where's that location at? So when she comes here, Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob the producer. What are you screaming at me through the glass? Where can I find a sugar mama? Oh, well, that's a good point, too. Where can you find a sugar mama? It's not just women that benefit from sugar daddies. Right.
Men should be able to get sugar mamas, right? Who doesn't want the ability to have somebody else pay their bills? I mean, it sounds like a win-win for everybody when you think about it, right? You get companionship. You don't have to worry about, you know, the complaints are nagging, and the next thing you know, you know, it is what it is, right? It's an agreement. It's a working relationship. Now, if you decide to go ahead and get yourself an expensive one, well, that's like anything else. Like if I buy a small boat, right, it doesn't cost as much to put gas into it. But if I go buy a yacht, I got to get a small loan to put gas into it. So if you just want to ride around in a little dinghy, you go right ahead. It won't cost you much as it's sugar daddy. But if you want to ride around in the yacht... Well, you better be ready. That's all I'm saying. You better be ready. But this particular aid, if you will, for DHS, she is now out of a job. But the good news is she has a great handbag that she could sell to pay her rent and a lot of other things inside this. All right. On the phone with me right now, Mike from Marco Island. Mike, good morning from Marco. What do you got for me, Mike? Good morning, Dr. Jay. So there's a website. Actually, there's a couple of them, but one that's really good. It's called Secret Benefits. And you can log on, make a profile. There's another one seeking arrangements. It's also really good. And, you know. How do you know about these? Time out, time out, time out, time out. What? Mike, are you a member of these particular websites? Well, you know. Yeah. Not both. All right. But one of them. You don't have to tell me which one. So when you go to, have you met someone on one of these websites? Oh, yeah. I had one for three years. And all you did was, what now? For three years, you had a sugar baby. You were a sugar daddy. Is that what you're telling me, Mike? Yes. And what, and why did it end after three years? She went off to grad school. moved up north. Do you keep in touch with your former sugar baby? Yeah. Yeah, we're still friends. She's up in Chicago. Right. Chicago. Right. So have you met anybody else on that particular website since you sent your previous college student packing? Yeah. The second one was like two and a half years. She moved away to go to med school. Are you lying to me right now, Mike? Are you being dead ass? I mean, this is... I'm being very serious. All right, all right. All right. So how much... What kind of arrangement? Now, when you say there's an arrangement, is it agreed upon like in the beginning because it lasted so long? So it was like, I'll give you $300 a week and you're going to be here when I need you or something like that. How does it work? I'm curious for a friend. Yeah, something... Well, you know...
In the beginning, yeah, it's just a cash transaction, you know, each week. Isn't that prostitution? In that prostitution? I'm just asking. Is it that prostitution? No, no. You're dating. You're dating. It's cheaper than getting married, sure. But what happens is that... Once you have something long term, then you just start paying the bills. You know, maybe make a car payment for them or maybe pay some rent so it becomes something that, you know, they can just kind of use that for. What is the biggest drawback of this? What is the biggest drawback? Hmm. biggest drawback for me would be because I work in North Florida and South Florida. So I'm, sadly, I had to get a second sugar baby for North Florida. No way. That's the biggest drawback. Yeah. It's terrible. Horrible. Oh, my goodness. Have you ever been married? Yeah, a couple of times. A couple of times. Is that why you do this? Well, um. Okay, you want the truth is that the second one we had babies and she wanted drugs and not hugs. So she hauled butt and I raised my two little girls by myself and I didn't want to bring another woman into the house. you know, to, you know, to add that kind of a posture to it. So I stayed single. And, you know, and as soon as they got older and I had, you know, some free time, then, you know, I was able to, you know, get some love. That's the truth. Listen, I love your open and honesty. There's a lot of them listening right now that would not open up the way you did. There's no doubt you are not the only listener to Daybreak who is on one of those websites and having an experience like you. It seems like it's working for you. Were you nervous when you first did it? Were you like, I don't know if this is going to work? Well. I'm not sure if that's the right word, but, you know, you're like, you know, you're not sure what the, what the deal is. Right. It's going to be something, something nasty, some kind of skank, you know, it's like, oh, God. Right. But, no, they're just, girls, I just want some, you know, they want some love, attention, some help. And, you know, so it works out. All right. Well, I appreciate you being here today and being on the show with us. Man, it's awesome to have you, man. Thank you so much for being here, man. All right, Dr. Jay. There we love. Love you too, man. Love you too. That is crazy. I'm going to get ready. We've got to get ready. The.

Coming up next, the Honor Flight this Saturday, I'm going to get to join them for the first time. I am very excited for that moment, but I want to tell all of you about the Honor Flight, what it is, how you can participate, how you can get involved, and so much more. So if you are wanting to need that information. I'm about to lay it down for you right here as I'll be joined by a veteran that's been on the flight. And we will talk about his experiences and what it was like for him and what he does now in reference to the honor flight. And it's like he once went on it. And now he helps facilitate it. It's a great story. And I can't wait to hear more about it coming up next. You're listening to Daybreak as the third hour.
