30 segmentsAll right, we're going to hold the practice now for Team Common Sense. I talked to a little bit about this yesterday. Again, I appreciate common sense, just things that make sense. Yeah. And, yeah, they're kind of political, okay, but it just makes sense to me. You're on Team Common Sense. Okay. You don't want to be uncommon. You want to be common sense, things that just make sense. So the Grammys Sunday night, they were a joke. Ratings were down double digits for CBS. But did you know Supreme Court Ketanji Brown Jackson Ketanji Brown Jackson was in attendance? of the Grammy Awards. I did not because I was not. I was one of those that tank helped the ratings tank. Same here. And I'm finding out about this. I saw this story yesterday, so I didn't see it happen firsthand. I read an article about it. Yeah. It kind of got me thinking. She was there in, which that's weird in and of itself to me that a Supreme Court, sitting Supreme Court justice would be at the Grammys. It seems beneath them. Really? It's, well, can you name a Supreme Court? Do you see? Well, I mean, we don't really. Do you see Supreme Court justices sit in court side at a Knicks game? No. Well, or they don't get mentioned. I'm just saying I think they have regular lives. They go to basketball, football games and stuff like that. Maybe, maybe up in the suite, maybe somewhere, maybe. But I just feel like it's. I don't know. She was, of course, appointed by President Biden in 2022. She was the one that couldn't answer what a woman was. Remember that? During her Senate confirmation hearings, they asked her, can you define a woman? And she's like, I'm not a doctor. I don't know. Yeah, I remember. Any six-year-old can tell you what a woman is. Anyway, she was seen on camera at the Grammys, applauding and laughing anytime. some celebrities, some musician, some artists got on stage and said F ice, you know, all these anti-ice messages. Yeah. Here you have a sitting Supreme Court justice applauding anti-ice messaging. Okay. Not a good look. Well, it's a terrible look. How can she now be seen as impartial? Right. If she's going to have to sit and hear arguments on Trump administration's immigration enforcement cases, how can she be seen as impartial? I mean, you're in the highest court in the land. You're one of nine. Yeah. supposedly very intelligent, highly educated, supposed to be fair and balanced and impartial. And you're on the Grammy broadcast on CBS applauding when people are shouting anti-ice messaging. Yeah, when it comes to that, you have to stay as neutral as possible and remember your surroundings. You have to not do anything. Just sit there. The problem is that she...
Well, first of all, she made the decision to go to this. And then she's applauding this messaging. It doesn't matter if she believes it. The problem for her is that she exhibited it in public. If she can, if she does that, has that behavior at home, if she's watching the Grammys at home, and she's pumping her fist and she's like, yeah, F, ice, yeah. Okay, that's your opinion. You're a human being. You're allowed to have it at home, but you're a Supreme Court justice. And she should immediately recuse herself from all immigration cases. Like right now and say, you know what? I have a bias on this. I cannot. in good faith hear these immigration cases as the Supreme Court justice because I'm too far gone off the deep end. What she's done is really make things look slanted. And it's not, I mean, there's been enough talk about it on the other side from a conservative standpoint and people start to get weird about the justice system. And this is one of the reasons. This is why we're in trouble right now. You can't do that if you're going to be in a public arena that's shown two millions of people. Yeah. Ratings or no ratings. I mean, a lot of eyeballs are on that. I mean, certainly all of these nine Supreme Court justices have personal opinions. They're human beings, right? But you can't publicly display them. You have to hear these cases with as much impartiality as possible. That's your job. I would totally agree with that. But you're on a national network television broadcast. sitting watching the Grammys in person, applauding anti-ice messaging from people on stage. It's like, where is the outrage on that? I mean, you won't hear this. No one will talk about this story anywhere else. Where's the outrage there? I just, no, you can't. It's mind-blowing today. I think anyone should be entitled to be, and regardless of what's, what fence side of the fence you sit on, you can't have that. You should be out of it. You should be outraged. I would be angry if I'd seen it. And look, if I'm hearing about it, I'm not happy about it. If it was the other way around and it was, you know, Brett Kavanaugh. That's what I mean. Who's conservative and he's doing something the other way around. I would feel the same way. Yeah. Even though I probably would agree with his stance. I would still say you can't do that as a judge. As a judge, you have to be impartial. But don't yell at him. I don't want him to start crying. I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. He likes beer. He does. Give him a break. Okay. Give him a break. Yeah. All right. The other one. And then I'll let you off the hook, camping. We'll talk about something stupid here in a minute. Oh, good. I love stupid. Involving pizza. Oh, good. We talked about the Melania Trump documentary. Did way better than expected. What $7 million over the weekend at the box office was, I think, number three overall. I think most analysts said it may make $3 million. And it made seven. It was, I think, something like the most watched.
document non-music documentary in like 10 years or something like that it did very well okay malanya trump it follows her in the 20 days leading up to president trump's second inauguration is the documentary okay there's a theater in oregon all right that strike one red flag right there that had a marquee you know as you walk up and they put some snarky messaging on the marquee Things like, to defeat your enemy, you must know them. Melania starts Friday. Or does Melania wear Prada? Movie opens Friday. Of course, that is a reference to the devil wears Prada. Right. Insinuating the Melania Trump herself is, in fact, the devil. I mean, she's a beautiful woman. She's a supermodel. But as a personality that's not very attractive. That's, I mean, that's the basis of that, yeah. Yeah, does Melania wear Prada, suggesting, does the devil wear Prada? Right. So Amazon, who produced and distributed this movie, they called the theater. What's the theater's name? It doesn't matter. They called the theater and said, you know what, just pull the movie. You can't advertise it negatively like that. So we prefer you just don't show the movie. And I think they pulled the movie at Amazon's request. But like, again, what's your, why even, why even agree to run that movie in your theater in, this is Oswego, Oregon? probably a very liberal town no one wants to go see that movie in that town why are you even why did you even agree to to carry that film at your theater house yeah i don't know and i don't know how it works like if you have to because it's you know certain theaters with certain contract i don't know how that works but i don't understand that either if you you just don't You just don't. If you don't want it, you just don't do that. It's bad business. It's lowbrow. It's not classy. Right. You know, it's like you want to make fun of Trump, okay. I've never been a fan of making fun of First Ladies. I mean, some of them, I'm trying to think of it. I mean, even Jill Biden, I never made fun of her. I was critical of her for allowing. Her husband to continue when he was clearly suffering, you know, deep symptoms of dementia. Yeah. You know, late in his presidency there. Yeah. Or even not so late in his presidency. But I have never made fun of her, you know, never made fun of Laura Bush or Michelle Obama. Well, maybe a little bit of Michelle Obama. There's two schools of thought when it comes to that. And I get where there's got to be level of class when it comes to, if you're going to do it, you've got to be professional and just put it up there and let the people decide. But people have also lost their sense of humor. Saturday Night Live is about the only one that's been able to get away with certain types of sketches based on...
presidents or first ladies and it's very one it's become very one-sided though back in the day when when s nl was actually funny i guess that's what i'm referring they made fun of everybody regardless of political affiliation now it's pretty much one-sided yeah and you have comedians that still do it and you know it took them a long time to make fun of biden and i think they finally did because you couldn't you just couldn't avoid it right you just couldn't avoid it i mean the guy was stuttering stammering mess um but You know what, you're right. I mean, we have lost a little bit of a sense of humor because politics gets in the way. But people take it too personally now because it is, I mean, it is very divisive. Now, I find it extremely unhealthy. If you can't laugh at yourself or listen to something and understand that they're going over on purpose, over the top of purpose, then maybe you need another hobby or need something to brighten your day. But to insinuate that. Yes. Melania Trump is the devil. Yeah. In so many words. It's just wrong. I mean, again, she's a low-key first lady. She is not in the public eye as much as previous first ladies. She's very bright. I mean, she's what she speaks about five languages. And I don't, and Mike, me honest, I don't know much about her. I speak one language. We both barely. We both barely. We get away with it. Anyway, I thought that was interesting. And we'll see what that movie does at the box office this weekend after, you know, kind of being talked about and some of the publicity. Okay, so we know how the cold weather affects the iguanas in Florida, in South Florida. You've got the iguanas. They just can't handle cold weather. They're cold blood. So they, right. So they freeze up and they fall out of the trees. during cold snaps in Florida. There's actual signs, beware of falling iguanas in South Florida. So there's this guy who is an iguana trapper. Because iguanas down there are an invasive species. They're a nuisance. Yeah. So he's gathered up a bunch of iguanas, and he's now selling them to this pizza place to create iguana pizza. Who? It's a bucks coal-fired pizza. The pizza's called the Everglades, and it's got iguana meat on top of the pizza. I didn't know that you ate iguan. I mean, I suppose. Well, if you can eat gator, I mean, I don't know how far cry it is. And the guy says iguana tastes a lot like frog legs. Oh. Oh, that's a real big selling point for me. Oh, hmm, frog legs. Oh, that's a guy. Give me an extra large.
