485 segmentsLast night after losing a couple in a row. That's good news. The cabs move on to game two with Detroit and this cruise ship virus. This story just keeps growing and growing. It seems like we've been down this path before. Details coming up. It is Thursday, May the 7th, just after 6 o'clock. Let's get your traffic and weather together. Here's Pat Butler. Thanks, Keith. From the Elk and Elk Traffic Center for an injury lawyer dedicated to every client every day, call 1-800, Ohio. Things are moving okay so far this morning. Nice and light on your highway drive heading towards downtown. 71, 77, the Jennings North, all clear. There was some overnight work in Macedonia blocking the Route 8 South ramp from 271. A mix of sunshine and some pop-up clouds today. We'll have a few showers that developed this afternoon into the evening. Temperatures still on the cool side in the mid-50s. Cool side, yes. Remember a few days ago when it was 66 degrees at this time. 46 is where we're at right now at News Radio WT AM 1100. In for Mike Snyder this morning is Greg Brenda on sports and game two tonight. Yeah, but first I can't believe Pat Butler is working today. Because I hear he laid $1,000 last night on the prediction market that Brenda and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be in for Wills and Snyder and netted him $4 million. Listen, nobody. How did he... I mean, he doesn't need the money. Nobody put that down on the prediction market. Nobody. Yes, right. There is game two tonight. We'll try to even that series at one. Guardian snapped that three-game losing street and load management for Derby winner Golden Tempo. Yeah, that's disappointing to hear. We'll get into all that coming up in sports. Let's move over to the newsroom now. Carmen Angelo with the latest headlines, Carmen? And good morning to you, Keith. President Trump now striking an optimistic tone when it comes to talks with Iran to end the ongoing conflict. More now from Fox News Radio's Ashley Webster. It feels like we... been down this road before, maybe more than once. But President Trump seems to believe that Iran can be taken to the negotiating table and a deal can be done. They want to make a deal. We've had very good talks over the last 24 hours. Earlier in the day, the president sounded a whole lot more pessimistic, saying that if an agreement doesn't come soon, the U.S. will resume bombing. But the focus now is on a one-page memorandum that would formally end the conflict. and provide a framework for further discussions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio just Tuesday told reporters that the American military campaign against Iran had concluded and that the U.S. had achieved its objectives. 140 passengers remain on board a Dutch cruise ship on its wind of the Canary Islands after three passengers died in an apparent Hanna virus outbreak. Eight others have been sickened on the vessel. Medical teams evacuated three people from the ship in the Cape Verde Islands and were now told no remaining passengers have any symptoms.
News medical contributor, Dr. John Brownstein, says this strain of the virus has shown some limited human-to-human transmission. It doesn't spread easily, and it requires close, prolonged contact. So household members, cabin mates, caregivers. And so the bottom line is a rare virus, rare transmission, but potentially severe disease, which is why health authorities are very concerned right now. The World Health Organization says it believes a Dutch couple brought Hanna virus with them when they boarded the ship in Argentina. They died, so did another passenger, and five other people are sick, including the ship's doctor. A federal judge ordered, rather, the purported suicide note left behind by late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein released. More now on that story from our Jim Roop. The handwritten one-page note reads, Time to Say Goodbye. It was found by Epstein's cellmate after Epstein's 2000. 2019 suicide. It's a handwritten one-page note that also says, they investigated me for a month, found nothing. It goes on to say, what you want me to do, burst out crying, and no fun, not worth it. Epstein's death was ruled a suicide by hanging by the New York Medical Examiner's office. I'm Jim Rup. A former professional baseball player who's also a greater Cleveland high school coach now charged with raping a 12-year-old girl. Stephen Smatana is accused of sexually assaulting that 12-year-old in Parma Heights. Police there say Smatana communicated with the victim by text message. Met her many times at a church, then drove her to the park where the sexual acts are alleged to have occurred. Smatana was arrested at his home of Geaga County. Smetana played minor league baseball and once was head baseball coach at Berkshire High School. I'm Tom Moore. Cleveland Brown's owner Dee Haslam announcing that back in 2021, she was diagnosed with cancer called chronic lymphocytic leukemia or CLL, which is the most common form of leukemia in adults. There's no cure right now in hopes of finding that cure. Dee and Jimmy Haslam have made a $12.5 million investment in the University Hospital Sideman Cancer Center and the Oxford Harrington Rare Disease Center. What I love about the Harrington Discovery Institute and the Oxford Harrington Center is that they focus on orphan diseases and diseases that don't have a cure and they spread it around to scientists all over the world. And it just, you're going to get high impact. While there's no cure for CLL, new therapies have transformed the disease into a manageable chronic condition. CL is the same form of leukemia at the late Jim Donovan battled for over a quarter century. Ted Turner, the founder of CNN and the 24-hour cable news cycle, has passed away at the age of 87. In the world of sports and entertainment, Turner once owned CNN.
TBS, the Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks, and Pro Wrestling Company, WCW. He also gave $1 billion to create the United Nations Foundation. He dealt with health issues in recent years, including a progressive brain disorder and pneumonia. President Trump praised Turner in a truth social post, calling him one of the greats of all time and a friend who was there whenever he needed him. I'm Mark Nefield. Americans expected to spend a record $38 billion this Mother's Day. The National Retail Federation says that's $284 a person and it'll beat the previous record set in 2023. Mother's Day spending tends to weather times of economic uncertainty according to that report because people want to make sure mom knows she's appreciated. We're going to have a busy day here in sports, which can mean only one thing, Greg Brenda. The Bloom Daddy Show will be approximately 15 minutes long in between both games coming up tonight. That's a win. He gets the easiest work schedule ever. Guards got a win last night, which is nice to hear. Yeah, they finally got one. Chase. Stalot, Joey Cantillo, and a bucket win for the Guardians. Here's the set. Here's the one-two pitch. Check swing. Did he go? And Cleveland challenges the call. The game could end on a challenge. The video board says, ball game. Strike three calls. Hedges right, Muscoe wrong, and the Guardians have beaten the Royals 3-1. I think that's Tom Hamilton's first call of the game on a challenge. All right. At end of the game, 3-1, the final, Cantillo, four relievers combined on a four-hitter to snap the Guardian's three-game skid. Joey Cantillo went five, allowing a run-three hits. Cade Smith notched his ninth save. Manager Stephen Vogt says Cantillo was terrific.
I thought Joe was outstanding. When he did get into a little bit of trouble, he was able to wiggle his way out. I thought he made pitches all night. I thought he was attacking the strike zone. I thought he did an excellent, excellent job today. Chase the Lotto went two for four with a pair of RBI's. He's got a 10-game hitting streak and been on base 14 strike games. Cleveland atop the American League Central at 19 and 19. He finished the series in Kansas City this afternoon at 210 as Slade Sikoni opposes Seth Lugo. The Guardians will be back home tomorrow night to take on the Minnesota Twins. Cavaliers will try to even the series at one tonight in Detroit. Detroit is a 3.5. favorite. Cavs need to win on the road, and they have to match the physicality that the Pistons showed on Tuesday night, which J.B. Bickerstaff says was the key. We know this is going to be a long, tough series for us, but we got to know and believe in our system and who we are, that we can sustain it and continue that physicality. And tonight I thought we did a great job keeping them all at the free-to-line while being physical, too. The calves really need to meet J.B. Bickerstaff. Last night, the Philadelphia 76ers without Joel M. Bede, again, held their own. But in the end, the Knicks prevailed 108-102 as Jalen Brunson led the way with 26. New York now leads that series two games to nothing. And if Joel M.B. does not play, it is lights out for Philadelphia. Out west San Antonio, even its series with Minnesota at one apiece. with a 133-95 thrashing. You can turn out the lights in the gym here tonight. Spurs are headed home with the W. 133-95 the final. It is the third largest playoff win in Spurs' franchise history. And tonight, their 410th playoff game. 410 playoff games. Think about that. Victor Wimbayana, 19 points, 15 boys for the Spurs to lead the way in that win for San Antonio. And finally, Kentucky Derby winner Golden Temp will not run in next week's Preakness. Instead, we'll get ready for the Belmont in a month, so there will be no triple crown. I didn't think... The way that horse ran, coming from behind, shorter track, probably was going to skip it. Now all the big race junkies are disappointed that there won't be a triple crown. I know scooter is, but I think he certainly has a great chance of winning the Belmont, and that will be something. All right, in for Mike Snyder. On the home of the Guardians and Cavs, Greg Brenda, W-T-A-M-Sport. Hey, it's Scooter Reese. This May, Cleveland takes its place in U.S. Navy history. All right, let's see if the rain's going to stick around. Here's three news meteorologist Matt Wins. Well, happy Thursday, Keith. More rain in the forecast today, but not too big of a deal. We'll see some pop-up showers this afternoon and evening after a nice dry start. Clouds will mix with sunshine, tempest today in the mid-50s. All right now, news radio WT-A.m. 1100, and boy, let's cue up the conspiracy theories. An alleged suicide note released yesterday by a New York judge from Jeffrey Epstein. What do we know about this, Carmen? Well, we know that towards the end, and apparently before he took his... own life. He, in one of his quotes, said it simply was not fun. President Trump striking an optimistic tone with talks to end the war with Iran and three men have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a bribery scheme in East Cleveland.
Cleveland's morning news. This is W.T.A.m. 1100. Keith Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and for Bill Wills talking to our aviation expert Jay Ratliff here this morning. And Jay, apparently there's some talk after just Spirit Airlines shut down a few days ago that American Airlines might merge with United. What's going on there? Well, this is a story that's kind of been out there for a while with regards to Scott Kirby, who's the president of United. A couple of weeks ago came out and just kind of... casually mentioned, you know, a United American merger, that might be something to look at. And, of course, then everything went crazy with people speculating, wait a minute, we couldn't have that. Too big a players to come together. But the problem was it was American a little bit later that came out and said, officially, no, we're not interested. There's no discussions. Trying to basically put it to bed. Well, now the American Airlines pilots are saying, you know, a merger might not be a bad idea here. So it's one of the reasons that it's not yet a... dead issue because people are still talking about it. And one of the things that we're seeing is an increased amount of pressure internally with American Airlines. They're not making anywhere near the money Delta and United is making right now. So a lot of the shareholders and even employees are saying, look, United is a company that's made a billion dollars in a quarter. They know what they're doing. It would be great to be a part of that organization. So now we're seeing the employees. I think if the Stockholders and employees started pushing in that direction. Who knows where the lead? I don't think this is a story that's over by a long shot. Interesting to see how quickly the airline industry is changing. And again, Spirit just shut down a couple of days ago. And now JetBlue says, hey, we're going to take advantage of that. We want to rescue those folks who had canceled flights with low rates. You know, it's one thing to say that, and airlines do it. And most of the time, the fares are like not that low. I mean, they might be lower than the full coach fare, but they're still incredibly expensive. But you've got JetBlue coming out with $90 fares, in essence, and a lot of the markets where Airlines were Spirit Airline passengers were stranded. So, keep what you've got, if you can prove you were on a Spirit Airlines flight, show them the itinerary. They'll give you one of these $90-some dollar rescue fares to get you back to where, back home at a very, very low rate. So hats off to JetBlue for doing that. Now, I will say, and I, you know, hate to throw water on this, but May is one of the slowest travel months of the year. So if there's a month that airlines can get away with this. It's now, but certainly I'm really liking what JetBlue is doing and certainly trying to come to the aid of all those stranded passengers across the country. And maybe a little bit of smoke and mirrors, but hey, savings is savings, right? We'll take advantage of it. Look, you've got a family of six trying to get them home after paying, you know, 80 bucks or 60 bucks on Spirit to get to your destination. Yeah, you need all the help you can get coming back. Some people just rented a vehicle to get back because it was far too expensive to fly.
And, but again, yeah, people went on vacation and it was a one-way trip. Now they're scrambling trying to get home. Well, you gave a good tip to us earlier in the week. My wife and I sat down, booked a couple of flights for the summer because we saw those discounted fares. And we saved some money, so I appreciate that. Aviation expert, Jay Ratliff, joined us this morning. Thank you. Have a great day. Absolutely. And listen, if you're flying out of Hopkins this morning, things are looking pretty good right now. We've got some rain in the South Atlanta and Charlotte with minor delays, nothing major to worry about. And in Boston, some storms too, but they should move. the next hour or so 625 at news radio w t a m 1100 hey it's mark nolan for ohio state waterproofing 800 800 9818 that's News Radio WTAM 1100. President Trump says progress could be underway to end the Iran war in his latest comments following reports of a deal on the table. The president told reporters Wednesday that there have been very good talks in the past day or so, although he was questioned about the so-called progress during a White House briefing with this reporter. You're facing an opponent right now in Iran that has refused to submit. You seem optimistic now that you may be closer to a deal. Chuck Siebertson, ABC News. All right, 64 now in Cleveland's morning news, WTAM 1100. We're going to spend time with Fait Nezovich coming up in just a few minutes. We're going to try to find a home for a cute little kitty this morning. But first, let's check sports here. Greg Brenda is in for Mike Snyder. And boy, it's going to be a busy day for us today. A busy, busy day. Busy day. And hopefully a winning day for both teams because we need it. Yeah, exactly. First off, Joey Cantillo. Four relievers help the Guardian snap a three-game losing skid as the Guardians beat the Royals last night, three to one.
Kansas City. Contillo 5 innings allowing a run on three hits. Festa, Zabrowski, Gattison, Kate Smith finished up with Smith getting his nine save of the year. The offense, well, how about another dose of Chase the Lauder? Here comes the 2-0 to De Lauder with the infield in, and he smacks it through the left side of base it. Hedges scores, racing around third. Halpin, he scores with a headfirst slide. And just like that, the Guardians take a two-to-one lead on the two-run single from De Lauder. The latter batting average above 300, 10-game hitting streak. David Fry produced the other run, and how about Austin Hedges, who was one for three with a walk and a stolen base. Now batting 3-11. Let me repeat that. Now batting 3-11. And you know, manager Stephenville likes that guy behind the plate. I mean, he's pretty good back there. He knows the zone. He had an unbelievable night. Challenge-wise, at the plate, behind the plate. Just on the base paths, it was a great night for edgy. He just continues to play really well. And with Bone Nailers batting average sinking to the ocean floor, you just might see a little more of Austin Hedges this afternoon at 210. Right here on the big one, Slade Sikoni will oppose Seth Lugo. Cleveland will be back home tomorrow night to take on the Minnesota Twins. Cavaliers will try to even their series with the pistons at one apiece tonight in the Motor City. Need a lot better effort from their core players tonight as Detroit is a three and a half point favorite. Meanwhile, Kenny A says his team needs this to win. I'm sorry, that's Kenny G, not Kenny A. But maybe, maybe we need Kenny G tonight on the bench instead. Games. Game is at 7 o'clock right here on News Radio WTAM 1100. I kind of like Kenny G. Last night in the NBA, this happened. At the foul line, now he retreats to mid-court and the Sixers will not foul. The Knicks took Philly's strongest punch here in game two, but Jalen Brunson, one of the best clutch players in NBA history. He had more in the tank down the stretch. And with a 108-102 victory, the Knicks have taken game two and a two-oh lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Brunson had 26 in the game. Joel M.B. did not play because of nagging injuries. Meanwhile, San Antonio, even its series with Minnesota with a 133.95 bashing as Victor Wambiana led the way with 19 points and 15 rebounds. And the NCAA today could make it official that the NCAA tournaments for both men and women starting next year going to 70. Six teams, that's right. I mean, why just to throw them all in there? Like all 300 teams in there and start the tournament that way. I think our program director told me we were having a format change with the Kenny G in there in sports. I made a note, yeah, let's see, Tuesday the wheels fell off of the show at about 712. Today we're early, so apologies, Mr. Will. That's all right. The filling guys forgot again. But if it makes you feel better, Greg, Brenda. Mike Snyder and I both forgot again the other day, too. So here's the number you need to know for 845 this morning. Carmen last night, my phone started going off with all these alerts, all the different news organizations, letting me know that there was a suicide.
note from Jeffrey Epstein released yesterday. Yes, a suicide note released purportedly from Jeffrey Epstein. No confirmation that indeed he penned that suicide letter, but the conspiracy theorists are about, and we shall see if indeed it's the real deal. President Trump, Keith, he's confident. A deal to end the war with Iran will be struck soon, and police in Oklahoma cuff a suspect in a deadly mass shooting Sunday night at a popular late front campsite. All right, those are in more stories coming up for you. 7 o'clock here this morning on WT.A.N. 1100. Faith Nezovich is with us right now. To talk about a cute animal that is up for adoption, you can see on the Wills and Snyder Facebook page this morning from the APL. And Faith, now I'm a dog guy, admittedly, but there are folks who love cats, but there are people that maybe have an issue with the cat, the claws, I understand, right? The teeth. Well, this is a perfect solution for you because we have a toothless cat. Yes, and he's a very low-key guy. So I think if you have a problem with those two things, Dusty-Doo, and I'm just going to call him Dusty because I don't need the do part, but he is a perfect choice. If you go to, like you said, Wilson-Snyder.com or the Wilson-Snyder Facebook page, you will see some video that I took of him and some photos. He's about 10, so he's a senior guy. just really wants to hang out and he's very, very friendly. So if you are one of those people that think that cats are not friendly, maybe they're too aloof, he is absolutely not that. He wants all of the snuggling and head scratches and all of that. And don't worry about the teeth thing. You'll see in the video, he handles treats, he handles his dry food, no problem. I think we don't give animals enough credit sometimes with things like that, but he has no problem eating. One thing about Dusty-Doo is that he is FIV positive, and we see this in strays a lot. He was a stray before he came to the APL. And this is an immune system thing, so he's very healthy now, and all we need to do is keep him with good food and regular vet visits, and he's going to live a normal and very happy life. And the good news on Dusty-Doo is if you are interested in him, him and select other cats who have been at the APL for a long time. And unfortunately, there are a handful of them. Their adoption fees have been paid for. So Dusty Mike DeWine is free if you are interested in him. And that special is going to run through the end of the month at the APL. And Faith, that's something that I think is important for us to mention too. Oftentimes when you go to the shelter, those older animals are there for a long period of time. But those really are some of the best pets. And they are. You know, with a senior, you know what you're going to get. There's no surprises. This goes for dogs, too. The training is usually taken care of. And it is kitten season now. So it's these older animals, kind of their stays get extended once the kittens start rolling in. So meet DustyDoo, Wilson Center, Facebook page, and WillsonSenter.com. Faith, we appreciate all you do for the animals. She takes a time not only to go down there, take all the pictures and put these profiles together, but she's always doing great work with the APL. And appreciate all you do. And let's find Dusty Mike DeWine. I'll say do. It's fine. Let's see if we can't find Dusty Doe, a home. Get over to the Wills and Snyder's Facebook page. As always, Faith, thank you for what you do for the animals. Thanks, Keith. Thank you. 6.55 now at Cleveland's morning news. W. T.A.m. 1100.

Iran's foreign ministry spokesman confirming his government was indeed reviewing the U.S. plan, a reported one-page memorandum of understanding that sets a framework to end the war and start negotiations on Iran's nuclear program. Greg Brind is in for Mike Snyder this morning here, doing sports on Cleveland's morning news, and he wanted to know where the buffet was. I'm sorry, Lannigan has not been here in a while. We're going to have to put this up. We'll take a picture and put it up on the TV and socials. This piece of equipment has been installed for about a month, month and a half. Yes. And it's supposed to do the TV. Yes. And it does not work. So I mention that as we go to sports. Well, I'm done. Great bye this morning at America's number one leading audio company. Goodbye. I'm done. What's going on? All right, Joey Cantillo, Chase De Lauder, to the rescue last night as the Guardians snapped a three-game losing streak, bested the Royals 3-1, Cantillo, five strong innings. To pick up his second win of the year, while De Lauder banged down a couple of hits drove in a pair. De Lauder now has a 10-game hitting streak, and his average now 308. Now the team still have some offensive issues, and you'd like Jose Ramirez, for instance, 0 for 2 or 2 walks. His average is 209, but... He did steal another base. Now the pitch, runner goes. Pitch is high. Throw down to second as high. Head first slide in Jose Ramirez. The league leader has 14 steals. He's only been caught once. Cleveland with three steals tonight, that's a big one. Because a base head here gives you a huge insurance run. And a Stephen vote says he always impacts the game. The thing with Jose is even if he's not getting hits, he's getting on base. He takes his walks, and we saw that tonight. You know, get two rallies going. When he's on the base paths, teams are aware, and they have to focus on him a little bit more and maybe take the focus off of the batter at the plate. So, Jose impacts the game wherever he is. Look, I wish Jose was hitting better, but I think...
When you look at what he's done over the last, how many years, he has carried this offense almost single-handedly by himself, and maybe just needs a little help and a little break. We'll see. All right, game four of the finale, 210 this afternoon, right here on the big one, Slade Sikoni against Seth Lugo. There were 25 lead changes in the game. Juell M.B. did not play out with hip ankle injuries and general. I have General Sorinus this morning. By the way, New York leads the series two games to nothing. Meantime, Victor Wambayana and the Spurs annihilated the Timberwolves. 133 to 95. Wambiana put in 19, grab 15 rebound. Spurs outscored the wolves 74 to 50 in the second half. That series now tied at two. Meanwhile, Jimmy Haslam is speaking out. No, not on the Browns, but on his other team. You know that other team in the NBA, the Milwaukee Bucks, and the future of Giannis. I just think before the draft is a natural time, right? Because you're going to, you know, if Yonis does play somewhere else, then we ought to get a lot of assets. And that's John's job to do it. If he's here, then you build the team differently. So, and it's, I think that's all's necessary. I just want to stress, though, that our relationship with him, despite what is reported by certain ESPN writers, is very positive. Is this a decision that keeps you up at night? It's a big one. It's a big one. And you've got to get it right. And John knows it. And Wes knows it. And we didn't hold back with Taylor. We just said, listen, he may or may not be with us. So don't come because of that, because you want to be straight up to people. It just sounds him, it just sounds weird him speaking on the bucks. And does anything on the Browns keep him up at night? Well, look at it this way. The bucks weren't in the playoffs either, fired their coach, and they're a mess. We've seen that before. All right, no golden tempo in the prigness horse being held out until presumably the Belmont in a month. So golden tempo will have still a vacation in, I think, in the Bahamas. Clouds will mix with sunshine, temps today in the mid-50s. 47 now at W.T. AM 1100, Carmen Angelo is in the newsroom. And Carmen, this is really kind of hard to keep track of. This week we've heard that everything in Iran is going to be wrapping up, and then there was a pause and maybe not a pause. And now we're trying to end everything. Where are we this morning officially? Well, Uncle Sam and Iran, Keith, could. be close to ceiling what they're calling a memorandum to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. That memorandum, I guess, stretches for about 30 days, so we shall see, again, mixed signals. Jeffrey Epstein's purported suicide note is believed to have read, quote, time to say goodbye. And Keith, Cleveland Heights native, Travis Kelsey, says he's very anxious and that he cannot wait to marry Taylor Swift.
It's Cleveland's morning news, WTAM 1100, Keith Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and for Bill Wills this morning talking to Iheart Radio's Rory O'Neill, host of the weekend dive coming up Saturday morning at 6 o'clock here on WTAM. Rory, there's some, I guess, good news about our seniors this morning. They are starting to maybe enjoy retirement a little bit more and be a little less concerned about money. Yeah, it's interesting. This survey from Gallup found that most Americans who are retired, more than four in five, say they have enough money to live pretty comfortably. But for those of us still in the daily grind, less than half. 45% think that we'll be in that same financial situation. Now, keep in mind, this Gallup survey did talk to people who are already retired, meaning they looked at the numbers and felt pretty good that they could drop out of the workforce. But the survey also found there's a keen interest in working part-time even after 65. Yeah, I feel like if I were to retire, I'd be bored. So I would need something to do. So I think a part-time job. But also, as a younger generation, I mean, I'm working three jobs at the exact same time right now while we're doing this show. So I'm one of those that are worried about money. Well, look, nearly three and five of the currently employed Americans, 58. percent said they plan to keep on working at least part time when they reach retirement age. So is that because they have to? Because they want to. They asked that question. 36 percent. More than a third said it's because they'll want to work. Again, what are you going to do all day? And 21 percent said they're probably going to have to work even in retirement in order to make ends meet. Yeah, listen, pinnacle tournaments are not going to be for me, so I'm going to keep working as long as I can. And trying to do it healthy, too. And there's some warnings out this morning about who you can trust for medical advice. You've got to be aware now there are fake AI doctors giving advice out online. Oh, it's getting awful. The celebrity doctors like Sanjay Gupta from CNN, they've got fake versions of him peddling some. Alzheimer's snake oil stuff. That's not real. And then you can look at the chat bot. They're currently Pennsylvania's medical board addressing a form of AI impersonation. You know, if you're chatting online with maybe you're insurer, maybe you think you're talking to a doctor, but it might just be a computer instead. And we've seen where you can't really trust AI in that area. And then finally, Also, AI medical information in the courtroom. Imagine deep fakes being used as an MRI or an x-ray to show that you were injured in an accident. Now that fake image is being used to swindled insurance companies and employers. Oh, wow. Never even thought about that. There's a lot of people, I'm sure, who are going to be trying that in the next year or two. So, all right, good stuff to look out for. Rory hosts the weekend dive. It's must-to listening every weekend here to get you caught up on everything Saturday mornings at 6. the time. Hey, thanks, Keith.

Trump says he is not imposing a deadline to end the war in Iran, despite the fact both sides are close to sealing a memorandum aimed at ending the conflict. More now from ABC's Sophie Flay. They want to make a deal. We've had very good talks. President Trump reporting progress in negotiations with Iran. Sources say the administration has sent Iran a one-page memo of understanding, laying the groundwork for 30 days of talks on issues like the future of Iran's nuclear program. The proposal calls for Iran to lift restrictions on ships in the strait of Hormuz. In return, the U.S. would ease its blockade of Iran's ports. The Trump administration, specifically Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has a private audience today with Pope Leo at the Vatican. Fox News Radio is Jonathan Savage with that story. Marco Rubio's meeting with Pope Leo the 14th is being seen as a chance to smooth things over after harsh words from President Trump. The president's accused Chicago-born Leo of being soft on crime and on Iran's nuclear ambitions. But the Secretary of State denies that's the main purpose of the visit, speaking here Tuesday. No, look, there's a lot. to talk about with the Vatican. I'll give you one example. The Pope just returned from a trip to Africa, where the church is growing very vibrantly. And we have shared concerns about religious freedom. Marco Rubio also says Cuba's future is on the agenda. He'll meet too with Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni. Jonathan Savage, Fox News.
The purported suicide note left behind by late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein said, time to say goodbye. The note that Epstein cellmate said he found in his Manhattan jail after his 2019 suicide was ordered to be released by a federal judge in New York City last night. Meantime, new testimony offered behind closed doors Wednesday regarding Epstein. Democrats claimed Howard Lutnick dodged their questions and demanded he resign. ABC's Andrea Fuji reporting. Our buddy, Matt Wins from Three News joins us right now. And Matt, the big question is, I know what we're going to get through here today. We'll talk about that. But Mother's Day is coming up this weekend. So is mom going to have to have a winter coat or a light jacket when we pick her up for brunch. Ooh, that's tough. It depends on how mom's internal temperature is if they run hot or cold.
The reason why we're going to be in the 50s, 50s is kind of that in between where it's like if you want to be warm winter jacket, but if, you know, you're okay, you'll be in the spring coat. But yeah, the big thing, Keith, that we were watching was for this rain this weekend. I was looking at a big blob of rain with a low pressure moving through on Mother's Day. That's changed with this morning's model runs. And now looks like Saturday we get early rain and then late rain with a really dry day throughout the day. And then that rain that moves in Saturday night and Sunday should be about it with just some scattered showers for me. mother's day. So we're looking much drier for mom. I think that's the important thing. And today the rain's going to disappear after a while. Yeah, finally, yeah. Let's hope it does. You know, forecasts today, though, we're starting nice. So we got sunshine and clouds. We'll pop a few showers this afternoon. We'll do the same thing tomorrow. Sun and clouds with some pop-up showers. Temperatures, still cool, though, Keith. We're in the 50s today. We'll make it into the 60s tomorrow. So I just, you know, I missed early April in mid-April when we had 70s and 80s. It just seems like such a long time ago. We felt that. Yeah, we felt like, boy, we've really arrived. And then all of a sudden, boy, it just comes back and smack down. I'm a boat. owner and I'm waiting to get out there. So that's why I keep waiting for another 65, 70 degree day, because with the wind, like this, no, no thank you. Now, as we look ahead towards Mother's Day, what is the Wins family doing for Mom? Are you guys making macaroni necklaces? What are we doing here for Mom on Sunday? Yeah, well, we've got some crafts made. So I've got, and I don't think she's listening. She's getting the kids of school, so we're fine. So I'm going to do a biscuit bar breakfast for her. So we got biscuits with pimento and all this stuff. And the kids are doing this jar where they're going to write little hearts, paper hearts, and put what they love about her on them. I'm a little worried about what they come up with, but I guess that doesn't matter. That's what they tell me. Wow. Listen, not only do you get my admiration for being a great weather forecaster and meteorologist, but you're an excellent father and a husband. Because there's always something going on. I mean, would it surprise me if the calves won by 20 tonight? No, not at all. Would it surprise me if the calves lost by 20 tonight? I'd say no. I mean, that's where I am with this team. It's just, they are probably as unpredictable as there is as a team. Man, if you're betting on the calves one way or the other, I think you're crazy. I like the idea of winning by 20, though. Let's go with that. Why don't we try that tonight? All right, we'll try that tonight. First off, the Guardians chase the lottery. Joey Cantillo, book a win for the Guardians last night. Here's the set. Here's the one-two pitch. Check swing, did he go? And Cleveland challenges the call. The game could end on a challenge. The video board says, ball game. Strike three call. Hedges right, Muscoe wrong, and the Guardians have beaten the Royals three to one. That may be your first or Tom Hamilton, the end of a game on a challenge. Right, three to one, the final Cantillo, four relievers combined on a four hitter, snapped the Guardian's three game losing streak. Cantilla went five, allowing a run three hits. Kate Smith, notched his ninth save. Manager Stephen Boat says Cantillo was terrific. I thought Joe was outstanding. When he did get into a little bit of trouble, he was able to wait those way out. I thought he made pitches all night. I thought he was attacking the strike zone. I thought he did an excellent, excellent job today. Chase the Lauder, two for four, and a pair of RBI's 10-game hitting streak. Cleveland now atop the American League Central at 19 and 19. They will finish up that four-game series this afternoon at 210 right here on the big one, Slade Sacconi and Seth Lugo will go at. Cavalers will try to even the series at one tonight in Detroit. Detroit is a three-and-a-half-point favorite. Cavs need to win on the road. And they really have to match the physicality that the Pistons showed on Tuesday night, which J.B. Bick...
Dr. Stav said was the key. We know this is going to be a long, tough series for us, but we got to know and believe in our system and who we are, that we can sustain it and continue that physicality. And tonight I thought we did a great job keeping them all at the free to align while being physical too. Last night, Sixers without Joel Embed held their own, but in the end, Nix prevailed 108, 102. Jalen Brunson led the way with 26. Nix lead that series, two games to nothing. Out West San Antonio, even did series with Minnesota at one apiece with a 133.95 thrashing. You can turn out the lights in the gym here tonight. Spurs are headed home with the W. 133.95 the final. It is the third largest playoff win in Spurs franchise history. And tonight, their 410th playoff game. Victor Wambayana, 19 points, 15 rebounds for the spurs leading the way. Finally, Kentucky Derby winner, Golden Temp, will not run in the Preakness next weekend and we'll get ready for the Belmont in a month so there will be no triple crowd. In for Mike Snyder. Outside of that, lots of sunshine mixed with some clouds, temperatures in the mid-50s. We get up near 60 degrees for a high tomorrow.
47 is where we're at now at Cleveland's News Radio, W-T-A-M-E-Eleven hundred. Tanya Powers joins us from Fox News Radio right now. Today is a national day of prayer. It's something that actually started back in the 1950s with Reverend Billy Graham. And Tony, the country really was in a different spot with religion back then. Churches, you know, filled every Sunday. Now it's even tough to get people to even show up on Christmas and Easter. So I imagine that this day has changed quite a bit over the decades. The 75th observance of this, as you mentioned, it did get started back in 1952. That was, for those who remember the Billy Graham Crusades, this was during one of those in Washington, D.C., where he stood on the steps of the Capitol, and he called for a National Day of Prayer. That was in February of that year. By mid-April, a congressional joint resolution of Congress had passed, and... President Truman signed it. That is what established the National Day of Prayer. It didn't take very long at all after the Reverend Billy Graham called for it. In 1988, that is when it was decided by, you know, the powers would be and whatnot and signed by President Reagan, that it would always fall on the first Thursday of May, which is why it is being held today. And there are observances of this across the country. Matter of fact, if you look on the National Day of Prayer's website, there is a map and a listing there of all of the gatherings that have been submitted and that they have today. They are all across the country. You can find one in your community by going to the National Day of Prayer. National Day of Prayer.org, I believe, is the website. And if you can't make it to one locally, there's also a virtual one this evening. They're doing a 90-minute virtual prayer gathering at 8 o'clock Eastern this evening. It is going to feature several people. One of those presentations is going to be from Will Graham, the grandson of... Reverend Billy Graham. You know, it's interesting. The Reverend Graham, his father, was held in such high esteem for decades, and he was really the face of religion in this country. We don't really have a figurehead like him these days, do we? I mean, he was obviously extremely influential. I mean, he advised presidents for decades, not to mention other, you know, like world leaders and, you know, heads of state and things like that. I mean, he was, he was always very well known for, you know, for his evangelism and advice and counsel. And I don't know if there's – I mean, the only person that I can think of that, you know, has anywhere near that kind of uniting ability these days is the Pope. You know, that's – these are two obviously very different.
entities, but as far as religion goes, that's the one that comes to mind, honestly. Yeah, and the timing, I guess, works out today with Marco Rubio Media with the Bolt today as well. I know that's not happening on U.S. soil, and again, as you mentioned, it is slightly different, but still it is happening today. So do we see any sort of pushback on things like this? Because, you know, like I mentioned, the country is in a different spot and religion is held in a different light than it used to be. And there's that separation. of church and state or what is supposed to be separation of church and state? Are there groups that speak up and say the government shouldn't be involved in something like this? I'm sure there are people who are, you know, evangelical or religious or, you know, whatever faith affiliation they have who probably believe that there should be more of a separation of church and state. You know, meanwhile, there's probably also a lot of folks who say, you know, that, you know, that we need more church in government. So, yeah, it could go, it could kind of go either way. All right, Tanya Powers. I appreciate the time here this morning talking about the National Day of Prayer. As always, good stuff. Thank you. Appreciate the time. Thank you. 7.56 here at W.T.A.M. 1100. It is extremely necessary that you spend time every day in prayer. Now, God does answer prayer. More now from Fox News Radio's Ashley Webster. It feels like we've been down this road before, maybe more than once. But the focus now is on a one-page memorandum that would formally... end the conflict and provide a framework for further discussions. Just two days ago, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters that the American military campaign against Iran had concluded and that the U.S. had achieved.

Eight others have been sickened on board the vessel. Medical teams evacuated three people from the ship and the Cape Verde Islands and we were told no remaining passengers have any symptoms. ABC News medical contributor Dr. John Brownstein says this strain of the virus has shown some limited human to human transmission. It doesn't spread easily and it requires close prolonged contact. So household members, cabin mates, caregivers. And so the bottom line is a rare virus, rare transmission, but potentially severe disease, which is why health authorities are very concerned right now. The World Health Organization says it believes a Dutch couple brought Hannah virus with them when they boarded the M.V. Hondias in Argentina. They died. So did another passenger, and five other people are sick, including... the ship's doctor. First off, Guardians, Joey Cantillo, four relievers, helped the Guardian snap a three-game losing skid. Guardians beat the Royals last night. Three to one in KC. Cantillo, five innings, allowing a – Three hits, just one run, Festa, Zabrowski, Gattison, Cade Smith. Sounds like a great musical group. Finished up with Smith getting its ninth save of the year. The offense? Well, how about another dose of Chase the Lauder? Here comes the 2-0 to De Lauder with the infield in, and he smacks it through the left side of base it. Hedges scores, racing around third. Halpin, he scores with a headfirst slide. And just like that, the Guardians take a two-to-one lead on the two-run single from De Lauder.
Ten game hitting streak for Chase the Lauder. David Fry produced the other run. And how about Austin Hedges, who was one for three with a walk, a stolen base, and he's batting 311. Don't say it that loud. And you know, manager, Stevenville, likes that guy behind the plate. I mean, he's pretty good back there. He knows the zone. He had an unbelievable night. President Trump strikes an optimistic tone with talks to end the Iran War and a Cleveland woman set to learn her fate today for last summer shooting death of a young mother in the Cleveland Metro Parks. All right, thanks, Carmen. We'll get the latest on that and we'll be following that Attorney General Dave Yo story for you as well. 822, let's talk some Cavs basketball. This update brought to you by Huntington Bank and Lexus of Cleveland. Imagine, if you will, a double-decker swim. at a swanky hotel in downtown Detroit. That is not where we find Tim Alcorn, I imagine, this morning. No? Probably not. No, Tim, that's not Tim's style. But I'm guessing, Tim, though, you are very excited for tonight's game. Game number two, listen, I know the other night wasn't the outcome that we anticipated or we wanted for game number one, but that's why we play seven games. Every game can be a little bit different for our calves. Well, first of all, Keith. Tim Elkhorn and Swanky have never been used in the same sentence before, ever. But yes, it's a seven-game series. And listen, things did not go the way the cabs wanted in game one. But think about the fact that they didn't play well. They turned the ball over 20 times. Jared Allen was basically taken out of the game by the officials with three early foul calls. And yet it was tied with five minutes to go. And the cabs had a chance to win. So they still hung in there. And I think you'll get a much better performance tonight. Tim, here's my issue with the Cavs. We played 82 regular season games. We're now going to playoff game number nine on the year. And literally from the beginning of the season, and you've been there for all of these games, I just can't get a handle on a game-by-game basis. What's going to happen?
that night i just it's it's been it's been one of those years where you know someone will last what do you think's going to happen the night and i go i don't know uh and it just seems like it's still that way right now even in the playoffs Yeah, they have been a riddle. There's no doubt about that, Greg. There's just an enigma to this team that you can't quite put your finger on what they're going to be doing night in and night out. And the performances seem to roller coaster as well. And if you get into a deep run as far as postseason is concerned, you better have consistency of play. And it's something that the cavaliers have been searching for. Yeah, you're correct on that. Tonight, I mean, obviously they all got to play a lot better. You've got to really cut down on the turnovers as we saw, you know, the other night. But in your mind, is there one guy that really has to lead the charge for the calves tonight? Well, I'll go with two. I'll say the backcourt, Hardin and Mitchell. Hardin turned that ball over seven times. He had seven assists, but, you know, they talk about the assist to turnover ratio. Well, seven to seven cancels each other out. So they have to take care of the basketball. And I keep looking for Donovan to have that bust out big playoff game that we've seen from him before. And for some reason, it's eluded him in the first eight games. And as you said, heading into game nine tonight, I think it's on the cavalier back court tonight. They have to take care of the basketball. And they've got a... score of the basketball. Now, you know, Sam Meryl's questionable tonight with the hamstring strain, Tim. I think he's a valuable piece to this team right now. Without him, I think that hurts a little bit, doesn't it? It does. He provides that outside shooting, and he hit some critical outside shots against Toronto in the first round, and he's also a gritty defender. He'll body you up, he'll get physical with you, and when you're going up against this Detroit team, you have to match their physicality. So hopefully Sam will be able to go tonight. All right. Last question, most important one. Little Caesar's fan or not?
Are they a sponsor of your show? Maybe that'll be... No, no. I just want your opinion on Little Caesar's Pizza. Okay, I'll go first. I love it. People look at me like, why do you... I just love Little Caesars. What about you? Well, if you're going into a break that starts with Little Caesar's pizza after this... interview. I love it, too. No, well, listen, they're not necessarily a sponsor, but I will tell you this, Tim Scott Scooter Rees just opened up his app. And I thought I had a lot of McDonald's reward points until I just saw what he's got in his app. The app is perfect because the deals that you could get, you walk right into that little Caesar. $6 for pepperoni hot and ready. Like, you can't go wrong on that. Four and one stick to me a deal. That's what you got to get right now. They do serve it in immediate dining and little teasers arena. So it's a very good pizza. I'll say that. Listen, I'm going to go with you guys. I actually like them. Pizza pizza. Pizza. There you go. Cavs and the Rockets game number two coming up tonight. You'll be able to hear it right here on WTAM-1100 and also 100.7 WMMS. We should mention two. Tickets available for Saturday afternoon's game, which is a 3 o'clock tip off. Yes, hopefully you were around 650 or so with Greg and Keith. So light up the phones now, 216, 578, 1100. The guard We'll play the Angels Tuesday, May 12, Progressive Field 6.10 p.m. And as I said, we're going to start. We're caller number 11 at 216-5-7-8-1100. And hopefully you know that Guardian's number of the morning. All right. With us on the phone right now, Jim Rosenhouse, from the Cleveland Guardians Radio Network, getting ready for that game coming up with Kansas City this afternoon just after 2 o'clock. And Jim, before we get into baseball and talk about the win last night and what we're looking forward to today, a little follow up. Yesterday we talked to Mr. Hamilton and he told us that you did not go over to the Kansas City Taco Company and get him one of those brisket tacos for Cinco de Mayo. So, you know, we, you know, he was a little caught off guard that you didn't follow through on that. So we're counting on you today. So no matter how the road trip goes one loss-wise, it's been a complete disaster. Listen, brisket tacos without them, life could be a total disaster. Listen, it was nice to see us on the winning side of things last night, Jim. Yeah, good ballgame, great pitching. Joey Cantillo was solid. And the bullpen, you know, kind of quietly, the bullpen has... started to really settle in, and we might have seen the best of Kate Smith last night. He had a really good splitter going that was darting down, and really the hitters had no chance. So that's encouraging, and Hunter Gattis had a decent outing, too. So that's going to be a big key over the course of the season, and it was needed last night because, you know, they're still struggling to score runs, but three was enough last night and a real nice win. Jim, what's it about the Cantillo that you really like? It just seems like he really, I mean, every time out there for the most part, he just goes out and gets the job done. Yeah, you know what, Greg, we talk so much in today's game about velocity and, you know, this guy throws upper 90s and all that kind of stuff. He's got one of those old school big loopy curveballs, and it just drives, and a really good change-up, and it drives hitters nuts. I mean, they just can't. time it up and a lot of times there's big time swing and miss in there but even if they make contact it's weak contact because their timing's all off and it's kind of fun to watch because you don't see it a whole lot and i mean you still do but but his is exceptional i guess is what stands out and so um you know he's he's managed to throw a lot more strikes as he's had more time in the may
Oh, are you there? Solid. Oh, okay. Yeah, we almost kind of lost you there for a second. We're talking with Jim Rosenhaus. Jim, last night's game, Chase De Lauder delivers again, and, you know, I just like watching him play. I mean, there are guys that, you know, do their thing one way or the other. The thing about the Lauder that I just, like, when I sit back and watch, I just like to watch him as a ball player. He's, he's, like, terrific, isn't he? Yeah, and, you know... When you look at how he's standing out among others in the lineup right now, he hits the ball where it's pitched. I mean, the two-run single last night, he just shot it through the left side, opposite field. And he goes that way a lot. It doesn't matter if there's a lefty on the mound. As a left-handed hitter, he's hitting better against lefties by a lot than he is against righties. So, you know, I think because of how he started the year in Seattle with the home runs, You think of him as a power hitter, but he's really, he's a good hitter who has enough power to hit some home runs, if that makes sense. But he makes his contact, and he seems to know when there's a good RBI situation and adjust accordingly. And it's been fun to see he doesn't look like a rookie. Yeah, I just want to go back briefly to the series in Sacramento over the weekend, Jim. Watching it on TV, it just seemed like that is like one of the, and I get it, it's a minor league baseball park, but it just seemed like they were, you had two major league teams playing in an unnatural situation. Did it, I mean, when you're there, is it like the same kind of feeling? You know, I think you hit on it, Greg. It almost, I mean, and you don't want to make light of it, but it almost feels like a spring training game. I mean, you know that they're not playing it like they would in a spring training game, but it has that feel because it's. You know, silly to say, but I just size of the ballpark. There's not there's not the upper deck, which is what you expect in a major league game. So, but it's, hey, it's where they are. It's where they, you know, they had that situation where the ballpark's not ready in Las Vegas and things fell apart in Oakland. So that's where they ended up. And, you know, you feel, you feel badly. I was glad that the guardians called up Bazana on the last homestand because. If you're called up and you make your debut in a AAA ballpark, your major league debut, that would be, I think, different for a lot of guys. So, look, they're getting through it, and the athletics actually have a really good team this year, and they're making the most of a situation, and the folks in Sacramento do a great job of making it as close to Major League as they can.
All right. Jim Rosenhouse from the Cleveland Guardians Radio Network. Guardians game day coming up at 105 today. Guardians warm-up with Rosie at 135, first pitch at 210. That gives you plenty of time to retrieve that brisket taco, just so you know and to make good on this. How about a brisket breakfast burrito? Hey, listen. Oh, now we're talking. No shame in that at all. Thank you, Jim. Appreciate the time here this morning. It's 850 at News Radio WTAM 1100. Now let's check your traffic and weather together. And before we get to Carmen with a look at the headlines here coming up at 9, we had a small little issue with our phones when we tried to do the contest a second and go for the Guardians tickets. So I want to make sure that everybody gets a chance to win those. So call number 11-216-578-1100 is the number that's 216. 578, 1100. Apologies for that, but we didn't grab a winner, so we're going to do it right now. All right, Carmen, we've got some breaking news this morning with an elected official in Ohio. What's going on? Well, and good morning to you, Keith. It appears. It appears Ohio Attorney General David Yost is leaving that post today to enter the private sector. More on that possibility in about eight minutes or so. President Trump says he's compromised. A deal to end the war with Iran will soon be struck. And Brown's owner Dee Haslam admits she's dealt with a form of leukemia, then makes a sizable contribution for research to find a cure. Well, this is a story that's kind of been out there for a while with regards to Scott Kirby, who's the president of United, a couple of weeks ago, came out and just kind of.
casually mentioned, you know, a United American merger, that might be something to look at. And, of course, then everything went crazy with people speculating, wait a minute, we couldn't have that. Two bigger players to come together. But the problem was it was American a little bit later that came out and said, officially, no, we're not interested. There's no discussions. Trying to basically put it to bed. Well, now the American Airlines pilots are saying, you know, a merger might not be a bad idea here. So it's one of the reasons that it's not yet a dead issue because people are still talking about it. I think if the stockholders and employees started pushing in that direction, who knows where to lead, I don't think this is a story that's over by a long shot. And most of the time, the fairs are like not that low. I mean, they might be lower than the full coach fair, but they're still incredibly expensive. But you've got JetBlue coming out with $90 fares, in essence, and a lot of the markets where Spirit Airline passengers were stranded. So, Keith, what you've got, if you can prove you were on a Spirit Airlines flight, show them the itinerary, they'll give you one of these $90-some rescue fares to get you back to where, back home at a very, very low rate. So hats off to JetBlue for doing that. Now, I will say, and I hate to throw water on this. But May is one of the slowest travel months of the year. So if there's a month that airlines can get away with this, it's now. But certainly I'm really liking what JetBlue is doing and certainly trying to come to the aid of all those stranded passengers across the country. Absolutely. And if you're flying today, just a couple of minor delays right now in Atlanta and Charlotte just because of some rain moving through that area. But the rest of the day looks like smooth sailing 856 now at News Radio WTAA.

Cleveland's morning news at WTAM 1100. Keith Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in for Bill Wills talking a little bit internet security right now with Jen Hanley. She's the head of North American safety at Meta. Perhaps you've heard of that organization, right? Facebook, Instagram and the like. And Jen, this is something that a lot of us have been concerned about if we have young kids, teenagers, and the things they're exposed to on the internet. And new technology now being used to identify underage accounts. Is it working? Hi, Keith, thanks so much for having me. So yes, we're really excited to announce the use of additional technology to help us find and remove accounts that are under the age of 13 from our platform. So in order to use Instagram or Facebook, you need to be 13 and over. And for many years, we've worked to find and remove accounts. But now we're able to really leverage and strengthen our use of AI to help us find those accounts who shouldn't be there. So really looking at visual clues, different information within the accounts to help us identify so that we can deactivate it and remove them. Now, one thing I know as a parent, teenagers can be a little smarter than the rest of us, right? And a lot of times, kids can misrepresent their age online to get into something they're not supposed to. How do you combat that? Yes, so absolutely. have something called teen accounts that's for those who are ages 13 and up and it's really important that we understand age to make sure that teens can go by default into our teen account protections and so we have something that helps us understand if someone you know may be misrepresenting their age they might put a birth date in or something to indicate that they're over the age of 18 but they really belong in the teen accounts and so we have been using signals and technology to help us understand if someone's over or under 18 so that we can, again, put them into those teen account protections that we have. Teen accounts are a great tool to really help, give parents peace of mind, and give teens a more age-appropriate experience with privacy defaults, content defaults, even time limitations. But again, it's really important to understand age to make sure that teens are put into those protections. So is that the difference between, let's say, my account and teen account is really some of those data collection points, right? We're not sharing as much info? data collection points it's really about those defaults those baseline protections that start in the accounts that are really meant for teens so those content limitations things that might be you know okay for someone over the age of 18 but we think are more appropriate for those who are under the age of 18 to have limitations on the type of content they can see the time they're spending, nighttime notifications off, and different things like that. So those are some of the key differences. The teen accounts, we really reimagined Instagram and Facebook a few years ago to put these protections in place for teens. And so we want them in those experiences. And it's also really important for families to talk about, for parents to understand, you know, why having that correct age can really help their teens have the age-appropriate experiences intended for them. Nice to have a little safeguard in place, but also at the end of the day, it's really important for the parents to be involved in and taking a look at what their kids are viewing online and monitoring their usage at the same time, right? We need parents to be parents. Well, exactly. You know, parents play an important role here, too. We all have a role to play when it comes to keeping teens safe online. So with this, with our technology to really help understand age.
What we're actually doing is we're going to be sending notifications to parents, encouraging them to have conversations with their teams, to check to see how old their teams are representing that they are online. We've worked with some wonderful child psychologists and other experts to help kind of have some conversation starters that are there for parents to talk to their teams and to understand what their teens are doing. Good stuff from Meta this morning. Jen Hanley, head of North American Safety at Meta. Appreciate the time this morning letting us know what you're doing to keep our kids safe online. Thank you. Thanks, Keith. All right, 915 now at WTAM. Let's get you up to speed on the drive into work if you're still headed that way. Pat Butler's got traffic. Thank you, Keith. From the Elk and Elk Traffic Center for an injury lawyer dedicated to every client every day, call 1-800-O-Holk. Roadwork still slows down 77 north from 490 up to East 9th Street. 490 East is heavy between 77 and the Opportunity Corridor. Heavy with roadwork on the west side on 90 east in between Detroit and West 1-17. Roadwork slows down the 71 north ramp to 480 west by the airport. In Lorain County, there's heavy traffic with construction on Route 2 eastbound in between 50. and Middle Ridge, and there's also some work underway now in Lake County. The right lane is blocked on 90 West after Route 528. Pat Butler, W-T-A-M traffic on 1,100 a.m. and 106.9 FM. Well, Mike Snyder happens to have the day off here today, and Greg Brenda is filling in on what is possibly one of our busiest day in Cleveland sports for a while. Yeah, we've got a couple of games, Keith. First of all, let's go back to last night. Joey Cantillo, Chase the Lauder, to the rescue last night. Guardian snapped the three-game losing streak. Best of the Royals, three-to-one. Cantillo, five strong innings to pick up his second one of the year. How about Chase De Lauder, banging out a couple of hits. Drove in a pair. De Lauder now has 10-game hitting streak, and his average is now 308. Now the teams still have some offensive issues more than you'd like. Jose Ramirez, for instance, was 0 for two with a couple of walks. His average is 209, but he did steal another base. Now the pitch, runner goes. Pitch is high. Throw down the second is high. Head first slide in Jose Ramirez. The league leader has 14 steals. He's only been caught once. Cleveland with three steals tonight, that's a big one. Because the base head here gives you a huge insurance run. And his manager, Stephen Bowes, no matter what Jose always has an impact on the game. The thing with Jose is even if he's not getting hits, he's getting on base. He takes his walks. And we saw that tonight. You know, get two rallies going. When he's on the base paths, teams are aware, and they have to focus on him a little bit more and maybe take the focus off the batter at the plate. So, Jose impacts the game wherever he is.
Finale of the series 210 this afternoon, Slate Sikoni and Seth Lugo go at it. Cavs. Need a win in Detroit tonight as they meet the Pistons at 7. Game 2 of that series right here on the big one. Pistons a 3.5 point favorite. Cavs have to cut down on turnovers. And Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, James Hardin, you got to show up, or it's going to be another long night. Look for Cade Cunningham. Look, Kate Cunningham. On Tuesday, he didn't have its best game, but the Pistons still won. Last night in the NBA, Jalen Brunson threw in 26. New York bested Philly 108, 102. There were 25 lead changes in the game. Joel M.B. did not play out with hip, ankle injuries, and general sorenness like we all. New York leads that series two games to nothing. Meanwhile, Victor Wambiana and the Spurs annihilated the Timberwolves. 133 to 95. Wambiana put in 19, grab 15. rebounds. Spurs out scored the Wolves 7450 in the second half. That series now tied a two. Meanwhile, Jimmy Haslam. You know him? Speaking out. No, not on the Browns, but on his other team, the Milwaukee Bugs and the future of Giannis. I just think before the draft is a natural time, right? Because you're going to, you know, if Yonis does play somewhere else, then we ought to get a lot of assets, and that's John's job to do it. If he's here, then you build the team differently. So, and it's, I think it's always necessary. I just want to stress, though, that our relationship with him, despite what is reported by certain ESPN writers is very positive. Is this a decision that keeps you up at night? It's a big one. It's a big one. And you've got to get it right, and John knows it, and Wes knows it. And we didn't hold back with Taylor. We just said, listen, he may or may not be with us, so don't come because of that, because you want to be straight up with people. Remember the Bucks that went into playoffs, he fired their coach in RMS. We've seen that before. And remember, long time ago when the Milwaukee Bucks traded a guy by the name of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, how did that work out? All right, in for Mike Tom Steyer, around the home of the Guardians and Cavs. Greg Brinda, W-T-A-M sports. Well, they're having some fun today. The Guardians and Royals play today at two. We're going to talk to our friends at Sequoia Financial coming up in just a few minutes. It's that time of year when kids are going. To the mailbox to look for those letters to see which college accepted them, right? And then mom and dad are trying to figure out how they're going to pay for it. We've got some ideas for that. First, let's get a preview of our 930 update with Carmen Angelo, and it looks like Dave Yost might be resigning today. Yeah, all reports out this morning indicate that Ohio Aegee General or Attorney General David Yost expected to resign. Keith, he's expected to accept a job in the private sector. He still has six plus months left in his term. Uncle Sam and Iran could be close.
sealing a memorandum to end the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, and Jeffrey Epstein's purported suicide note is believed to have read, time to say goodbye. Cleveland's morning news at WTAM, E1100, Keith Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and for Bill Wills talking this morning with Ashley Mays over at Sequoia Financial. This is the time of year, actually, when a lot of folks are getting those letters back, letting them know that their kids have been accepted into colleges. And for many of us, we're still trying to figure out how to pay for it. But a 529 plan might make the most sense for most of us, huh? Absolutely. Yeah, the 529 plans are a great tool to save for education. What they are is a tax advantage investment account. So in Ohio, you can deduct up to $4,000 on your Ohio taxes per beneficiary. And so then the money is in the 529 account. It grows tax free. And if you use it for qualified education expenses, then you can pull it out of the 529 account tax free as well. So does this work for everybody or is it really only for certain folks in certain tax brackets? Yeah, no, it does work for everybody. It's a great spot to save for college. But what I would say it works best for is for parents and grandparents who are looking to save for their kids or grandkids college. So if it's a goal to help, you know, we push that child through with, you know, financial help with education. This could be a great tool. So why they're best for parents and grandparents is because they are still in control of the 529 account. So it's never the beneficiaries money. And it's always up to the owner on when they want to distribute the funds in the 529 plan. So if they decide not to use it for that child for any reason, they still have control, full control of those funds. When's the best time to get this started? I mean, are we talking? Right at births, or can we get started even when they're starting to be a freshman in high school? Or is that too late? It's never too late. So definitely earlier, the better. So like any investment, the earlier, the more time that you have for these investments to grow, the better. And then if you think about high school, it's definitely still worth kind of looking into. Even if you, you know, expect to pay for some sort of higher education, it could work for high school or even... college students make that contribution for the year prior. The one thing I would encourage your listeners to think about is what type of investments are you investing in? That's the important part. So think about the time horizon. So this is a pretty common mistake that people, you know, do with 529 plans is They don't think about the time horizon. So there is an end goal in sight. And it's, you know, that fourth year of college or whenever college is over for that student. So the time horizon is much shorter. And therefore, you shouldn't be as aggressive with these 529 plans as the time horizon is coming near. Well, good information for us, especially if we're all starting to think a little bit more this morning about.

Cleveland's morning news at WTAM 1100. Keith Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in for Bill Wills this morning. There's been a lot of talk about security in the last couple of weeks, of course, with what happened at the White House correspondence dinner with the president a couple of weeks ago. And big events all over are getting security measures tightened up. Everybody's reviewing those, including the FIFA World Cup, which is coming to the United States and 11 different cities this summer. ABC's Brad Garrett is with us right now. And Brad, this really is a concern for officials. And think about keeps the number of places. I mean, you mentioned 11 cities, but you're then talking about over 100 matches, 16 different venues, which literally every one of those venues would have to be treated for what they believe is a level of security, which is going to be somewhat different from location to location, because depending on who's playing. it may well affect what level of security you have to put in place for those particular matches. And I'm talking about things like even up to the level of the security that you have for the presidential inauguration or the Super Bowl, where, for example, you have three rings of security. You'd go through three security checkpoints before you could ever get into like a Super Bowl stadium, in this case, to get into a match. There'll be all sorts of sophisticated stuff with AI in reference to crowd control that measures the size of a crowd based on the density of their location. So police can actually control how big a crowd might get at a given location. Anti-drone technology is going to be there because... If you think about what goes on every day in Ukraine, Iran, Lebanon, et cetera, just the use of drones to attack is really a primary attack venue every day on those locations. So why wouldn't somebody try it here? So there's a lot of other things, but this is estimated to cost way over a billion dollars. just for the security to pull this off in the U.S. So a lot of these cities, you know, they went out of their way to bid to get these games, and it obviously generates a tremendous amount of revenue for each of these cities and areas that these games are going to be in, but also a tremendous expense. How much of that is actually going to fall on these host cities like Kansas City and Miami and Atlanta? Well, it's unclear. They do get a large chunk of money. It's a combination from DHS, and I think FIFA actually provides some money. But I don't know how that plays into, for example, overtime and things that the city would have to pay for. or somebody would have to pay for to actually physically create the type of security that we're talking about. So my guess is that there's still money coming out of the pockets of the city and the counties where this is going on.
Well, it's going to be interesting to watch. You know, many of us go to sporting events, and we feel pretty safe. We know about the safety measures. You know, we go through the detectors. When we walk through, we see a heavy police presence. But international soccer is a completely different world, as you mentioned, with different beliefs and religious backgrounds for all of these. And the fan base, especially, too. I mean, it is some of the stuff we've seen in other cities. It's going to be really interesting to watch. Brad Garrett from ABC. I appreciate the time this morning. Thank you. You're welcome. Take care, Keith. Listen, just for the record, you're getting my vote for a producer of the year. Just so you know. John, if you don't mind, let me ask you about Marco Rubio. He's on the road. He's actually going to be meeting with the Pope today. Do we know what the goal is there, what he's trying to accomplish? Well, the goal is to reset relations between the United States and the Vatican, between the president and Pope Leo. They're not in a good place right now. You know, you know that because the president has leveled as criticism that Pope Leo. And who better than to try to mediate some sort of truth, so to speak, that America's chief diplomat, Marco Rubio, who is also a practicing Catholic. And he'll be... in Rome today for that meeting with Pope Leo. Yeah, it does seem really strange.
