A quiet Akron neighborhood rocked about 345 yesterday afternoon when a small plane, which had just taken off from the... nearby Akron Fulton Airport crashed into a home on Canterbury Circle in that city. A young family was able to get out of the home after the plane struck, killing its two occupants. Colton Wadado says he frantically grabbed his young children and got them out of the house. Just a loud bang, almost like a train, I guess, is the best way I can describe it, kind of hit the house, and it just, everything just shook. And I just ran upstairs, and I grabbed both. Both my oldest and my youngest out of their crib and out of their bed and just ran outside with them. Ladato, his wife and kids not harmed. President Trump says Chinese President Xi Jinping told him China is not helping Iran with weapons. He said he's not going to give military equipment. That's a big statement. He said that today. That's a big statement. He said that strongly. But at the same time, he said, you know, they buy a lot of their oil there. I'd like to keep doing that. He'd like to see Hormos straight open.
In an interview with Fox's Sean Hannity after his bilateral summit, Trump said she wants to see a U.S. Iran deal and offered his help if needed. Rich, I shared your advice with my friend recently and recommended looking at a certified use car. Bill, smart move. But be careful, the word certified is often misleading. Please explain. That breaks with the precedent. of past cares leaving when their leadership term expires. The Dow closed above 50,000 while the S&P 500 touched above the 7,500 level. NASDAQ futures are leading the losses this morning. And with the key home selling season underway, mortgage rates in the U.S. are little changed. According to Freddie Mac, the average rate for a 30-year fixed loan is 6.36%. By historical standards, the housing market remains weak, and the ups and downs of rates may undermine momentum as the conflict in the Middle East shows little signs of easing. Get some excitement. I come across so many people who tell me they studied radio in college. Yes. And they're doing something. Well, now's your time. There you go. Okay. Now's your time. We want energy. We want energy. All right. I heart radio. Yes. Scoot, thanks, Michael. All right. More about the Cavs and the Guardians, all your sports. Here is the man, Mike Snyder. Well, you know, Bill, it was a game six against Detroit back in 2007. It was after, it was in the Eastern Conference finals. But,
That was one of the most memorable nights. I know really in my career covering sports, that was after LeBron had really taken down the Pistons in Game 5, and that dramatic finish with him. And then we came back here to Cleveland. It was a Saturday night, and the town was rocking. And that was when Joe Tate with a great call that the Pistons were booby-trapped, when Boobie Gibson had all those threes, and the Cavs blew out Detroit in Game 6 and went on to the conference finals now, or to the NBA finals. Now, this is for a trip to the conference. conference finals, but I think it would feel pretty much just as good if the Cavs could knock out Detroit tonight. The opportunity is there. But as Kenny Atkinson said, you cannot take a thing for granted just because you have a three-two leave. I've been in this position before and have lost this next game, this game six. And then that puts a lot of pressure on you in game seven, especially if you've got to go on the road. And then, you know. And obviously take energy from you if you end up advancing. Yeah, see, there's two parts to that. Okay, you don't want to go back to Detroit, right? But the other thing is, as Kenny says, if you don't win tonight and you've got to win that game seven, I mean, what's left when you go to the next round? Now you've got a chance to kind of give yourself a break. Although, regardless of what happens tonight, there will be a game Sunday. As the Cavaliers, if they win, they'll play in New York with game one of the finals, and that's the preference, right, over game seven. against Detroit. Tonight, 7 o'clock tip. Cavs, Pistons, hear it, a 100.7. WMMS get warmed up for the game with the D-Man. Dennis Manilov doing sports line from Rocket Arena. Special edition begins at 3. NBA's official review of the final two minutes of the Cavs win in Game 5 said Jared Allen did not commit a foul on Assure Thompson in the final second. Guardians had a day off yesterday. They're back at it tonight. A big weekend series with the Reds, and that means Tito's in town. 710 first pitch tonight. Tanner Bybee will throw it. You can hear it right here and free on the I-Heart. radio app. Get Biby some runs. He's still looking for win number one. Brown's schedule release has them playing game number one at Jacksonville. That's going to be a real problem for scooter in picking who wins that one. And then they meet Baker Mayfield the following week in Tampa before coming home to host Carolina. And then their only primetime game the following Thursday, October 1st, when they will take on the Steelers. They certainly are under the radar with this schedule. All one o'clock kickoffs. And pretty much, they're pretty much in the eastern or central time zone for every. game. The schedule is really, it's there for the taking for the Browns to have a good year. Kevin Spansky and his Falcons come to town December 13th. NFL season begins September 9th, a Super Bowl rematch when the Seahawks hosts the Patriots. Playoff hockey at Rocket Arena last night, game one of the North Division final. Monsters fall to Toronto 5-2. Game 2 is tomorrow night at 7. Get some early spin on what happened over the last couple days. Coming up at 7.30, Carmen Angelo with the news falling up on yesterday in Akron here first, right? Yeah, and Bill, federal investigators are now leading the investigation into that deadly plane crash in Akron about 3.45 yesterday afternoon. President Trump and China's Xi Jinping wrap up a summit in Beijing, and legendary soul artist Clarence Carter has passed away. We don't want them to have a nuclear weapon. We want the streets open. We're closing it now. They closed it, then we close it on top of them. But we want the streets open. A little bit of President Trump talking to the media after wrapping up the meeting with Xi Jinping and Air Force One now bringing him back. Bringing I heart's Roy O'Neill. Give me an early read. What's the takeer the spin from us and them on what went on? It looked great. Not so sure, though, about is there any meat on the bone here? What was the real takeaway from this? It's great that the two leaders meet. They seem to be cordial, seemed to like one another. It was a great way to show off Beijing and the beautiful gardens of the beautiful...
rooms, but what do they have to show for it so far? Not too much. We got a report that maybe Boeing will be able to sell about 200 planes to China, having gotten all the nitty gritty on it, but Boeing, I think, was expecting that order to be closer to 500 planes. So let's see what happens in the next few months when she then travels to Washington, hopefully in September. Iran's still a problem, and the straight, of course, that was a part of the discussions. And oh, by the way, keep your hands off Taiwan. Well, right. And that's what's interesting, too. You know, the White House will say, look, we are in lockstep on Iran. We want the strait reopen. We want to deny Iran getting ever getting a nuclear weapon. China and the U.S. agree. But China and President Xi Jinping clearly much more interested in the U.S. and its relationship with Taiwan saying that it is central to the relationship between the two countries. And any misstep could cause big problems in the years ahead. All right. That and so much more this week. job putting together a week and review on the iHeart radio app and you can catch it over the weekend what might you be working on my friend well we'll talk to john decker the white house correspondent traveling with the president there in uh Beijing so we'll talk to him plus Charities are struggling right now. So many things going on. on including this hunter virus uh bringing dr joe galati we talked to several times on medical issues on the ihard 24-7 hotline with me this morning doc good morning hey bill good morning happy friday there everybody and to you my friend we say virus obviously with what happened here a few years ago we all want to know a little bit more uh so where are we at on this story what is it how do we know about it who's got it where what's going on Well, you know, I think the basic line is that there's here in the United States, there is onto virus and it is by, you'll contracted by rodent droppings, rodent urine and saliva. And the key thing here is that it is not contagious.
So if you are working in a barn or working in a house or an attic and you get exposed to it, it's, it's, you know, potentially can be a fatal infection, but it is not contagious. That is the sort of the US version here. What the news is all about is the Andes virus strain of hanta virus with the cruise ship that was in Argentina, South America. And that's where this particular strain is. This is the strain that typically is spread, you know, again, by the rodent droppings, et cetera. But there clearly is a mechanism that you can spread it person to. person. Now the CDC and World Health realized that it is poorly spread person to person, but clearly on the ship. People were exposed and a number of people have contracted it and, you know, a few have died. So that is it. But to think that this is going to create widespread havoc across America, I just don't think this is going to be the case at all. You mentioned the strains. So similar with other viruses like COVID, there are different strains of a virus the same with this then? Yes, for sure. And there are several of these onto viruses around the world that are, you know, certainly U.S.-based, the ones in South America. There are some that are more in Southeast Asia. But the Andes is the only one that can be spread person to person. And again, I think the big alarm here is that there is almost an established. playbook that a lot of people on social media, even in traditional news, are falling back and saying, oh, here we go with COVID-19 again. And, of course, that just brings up such bad feelings. And, you know, there is still a fair amount of distrust with the government with regard to these health issues. So it's confusing, you know, rightfully so. Well, thanks for breaking it down for us. That's what I wanted to get you for a couple minutes. Dr. Gilgalani. Thanks so much. Have good weekend, too, by the way. Okay, you as well. Look up his podcast, too, your health first. Really good information he shares all the time. CDC is monitoring. They say 41 people with that Honda virus after being on that cruise ship. Several of them out in Nebraska. They don't have to be there, but I guess they just want to be there for... for their own reasons as far as making sure they're healthy. 756. W.T.A.m. 1100. Your human experience is personal.
