It should be a beautiful day. Yeah. Going to Canton for the pickle festival. All right. Let's move on. Sports Mike Snyder is in. Guardians are hosting the Red Sox this week. Yeah, they're going to be busy this weekend. Three games with Boston and Bill. The Guardians in first place, the Red Sox are in the cellar. I'm not sure what's going on. with their franchise, but hey, the Guardians playing some solid baseball. We know that. They begin this series. A big reason for their success. Travis Bazana, he's been everything you could ask for out of being the first overall pick. In fact, over his last 14 games, he's hitting 382. And, of course, he's done it with runs batted in, doubles, a couple of home runs, stealing bases on the leadoff role that he's moved into. He says, Just trying to stick with a good process. I'll kind of hop on it. Hopefully all year long is that by swing at good pitches, I'm on time, my preparation for the game is good, like the hits, the extra race hits the walks, like those things will come and there might be some waves, but I've just been on the process and I'm comfortable leading off. Well, he has really done a terrific job. Now, the guy he replaced in that lead-off spot, Stephen Kwan, he'll be away from the team this week. He's placed on Major League Baseball's bereavement list with a family matter. So Stephen won't play this weekend. Guardian is expected to bring somebody up to fill his roster spot for the next few games as they get set to take on Boston. It'll be a 7-10 first pitch tonight's late. Cicconi will throw it, and you can hear it right here. Cleveland enters the weekend, leading Chicago by three games in the division. White Sox. have a series with the Tigers who are in the cellar. 10 and a half games behind Cleveland. Baseball, the labor situation is this. The owner is coming back with a proposal for a hard salary cap of $243 million, but also a hard floor of $171 million. Guardians are one of 12 teams that would have to increase their payroll. According to this proposal that actually is from the owners, and Cleveland right now roughly around $90 million, so it would be a rather steep increase for them.

17:32

But again, this is just the beginning of talks between the two sides. NBA playoffs last night, game six in San Antonio. And there will be a game seven in the Western Conference finals. You can turn out the lights in the gym here tonight. Spurs are headed home and headed back to Oklahoma City with the W for game seven coming up on Saturday. 11-91, the final here tonight. You can hear that press conference right here begins at 1030. Browns wrap up another week of off-season training activities. They are voluntary sessions. One more week of those. Then the mandatory minicamp is June 9th. Home of the Guardians and Cavs. Mike Snyder, W.T. AM. Sports OKC almost looked like they mailed it in last night. It looks like. I think they just said, I think that's partly why some of these games get so lopsided, you know? I mean, you've got a seven game series now. They get blown out, but I think they said, okay, it's not our night. Now let's look to game seven. That should be quite a battle tomorrow. It really should be. You're right. He's been odd about the points spread at the end of the games and so many of these. Again, Kobe Sam Altman, Cab's president at 1030 this morning. You'll hear it here on News Radio. WT. a.m. 1100. Traffic weather together now. We check your drive with Pat Butler, Pat. Thank you, Bill. From the Elk and Elk Traffic Center, if a medical mistake caused you injury, call 1-800 Elk, Ohio. It is busy on 77 north right now between Fleet and 490. You slow down. 490 East is heavy at East 55th, heading towards the Opportunity Corridor, and repair work still has the Jennings North blocked in between Harbor Denison and West 14th. This report brought to you by Petiti Garden Center. At Petiti. I am AJ Petiti. New this week at Petiti Garden Center's all hanging baskets are 50% off. 60s, your Saturday sunshine and your Sunday sunshine will push 70 both days. Lake Erie, foot or less? Well, it should be pretty calm. Beautiful weekend, get the boat out. And what a temp off Cleveland right now, 58. Be safe. Let's work on the 730 News, trending stories with Carmen Angelo. What's you got coming up? Good morning to you, Bill. $30,000 bond set for 19-year-old Timothy Rubble of Cleveland, who's accused of intentionally hitting a flag football referee with his car. 25-year-old Donnie Allen sentenced to 33 to 38 years in prison for fatally shooting Benjamin Netanyahu McComis at an RTA rapid station, and a Russian drone this morning is reportedly injured two people in a NATO country. There it is. Holy. Excuse my French. I've never seen that. Me neither. All right, let's talk more about this rocket that exploded last night down to Cape Canaver, bringing IHeart's Rory O'Neill. The video is just amazing. First, I guess, nobody was on this thing, right? Right. So this was going to launch satellites, and when it exploded, it was during a static engine test fire. Essentially, it means they fire off the engines, but don't let the rocket lift off the pad. So this is done in preparation for a launch. Obviously, something went wrong. Now, was it something on the ground? Was it in the rocket itself? We don't really know with the sun barely coming up, we'll take a better look at things and get a better assessment of the damage to the pad. But this could have a ripple effect throughout the space program because this was a rocket that was going to be used for that moon base that we talked about this week and also potentially for that Artemis 3 mission next year. Now, Blue Origin, this is Jeff Bezos companies, right? That's right. So the New Glenn is the name of the rocket, and it's built by Blue Origin, the company that was founded by Jeff Bezos from Amazon. You know New Shepherd. That's their first rocket, the little one that takes Katie Perry and William Shatner up into space. Well, this is its larger successor, New Glenn. Okay, I saw Jeff Bezos did post all personnel safe accounted for too early to know the root cause, but whatever we need to rebuild, we will, and it's worth it. But you're right, this could set things back then, right? And just to put it in a bit of perspective, 10 years ago, SpaceX and the static test fire on the launch pad, boom, the whole thing is essentially destroyed. It took 15 months just to repair the launch pad. let alone do the work to figure out exactly what went wrong and had to be re-engineered on the rocket. And the last time they had a new Glenn launch was back in April. That rocket looks spectacular, launching from the pad. It's over 320 feet tall. The problem is it didn't reach the right orbit, so the satellite was lost. So it had some trouble getting the thing, sorry, off the ground, but this is rocket science after all.

23:10

That it is. Get you out of here on, I don't know, we keep talking about close to a deal, but it sounds like we're just, we're going to do a deal to keep talking over there. Pretty much. It sounds like they'll reopen the Strait of Hormuz and then spend 60 days talking about what to do with Iran's uranium and its nuclear programs. It's a bit of a wait and see. President Trump is still reviewing the deal, but you're right. All it really does is set up another 60-day clock. You do the math on that, that's going to push us essentially right up into August 1st, getting awfully close to those midterms. And Iran knows we've got a political season coming up. Yeah, he's been awfully patient, but let's see. All right, weekend dive. You've got a lot to get into then, right? Yeah, a lot of that. Plus, we'll talk about, I know you don't really pay too much attention to this, but the hurricane season starts on Monday, and there's a big warning reminding people, it's not just a coastal thing. These major storms that are getting more frequent can cause a lot of damage well inland as well. Hopefully, we're going to have the quiet season they're predicting. We all who vacation all along the coast do pay attention when it comes to those hurricanes. Good morning. Good reporting this morning. Thanks much. Have good weekend. Thanks, Bill. 726. Coming up at 745. Next week, by the way, Sammy Hagar comes to blossom. We'll have tickets for you all week at 745. This week it's been, and we'll be again this morning. Tickets for the Black Rose.

And good morning to you, Bill. $30,000 bond set for 19-year-old Timothy Rubel, who is accused of intentionally hitting flag football referee Brian Williams with his car with his car, earlier this month. That incident happened following a game at the Cleveland Metro Park's Brookside Reservation. Our Brian Engel asked the assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor, Kristen Carcut, about the $30,000 bond.

27:28

which seems a bit low in a case like this. Given the nature of the charges, his family resources, his limited, he's 19, he has ties to the community and no criminal history, it's not surprising. You know, the purpose of bond is to ensure, you know, the safety of the public, but also the appearance of the defendant. You know, that issue can always be revisited if there's an issue with his behavior, and he violates any conditions while out on bond. Williams was left with a traumatic brain injury. Rubel was a rain yesterday on charges, including attempted murder. 25-year-old Donnie Allen has been sentenced to 33 to 38 years in prison for fatally shooting, Benjamin Netanyahu McComis of Avon Lake last December at RTA's Puritus Rapid Station. Allen pleading guilty to win voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery earlier this month. And Assistant County Prosecutor Adrian Lennox says Allen's sentence clearly sends a message. I think that, you know, in part, Judge First Sentence, you know, it's obvious to punish Mr. Allen for what he did. But there's also the deterrent. you know, the deterrence factor of letting the community know that it's taken very seriously. Crimes committed, especially in this manner, are taken very seriously. Linnex says Alan showed no remorse while in the courtroom and offered no explanation or apology to the family of Benjamin Netanyahu McComis. A Cleveland police recruit facing felony charges. According to reports, Ashton Pew stole a Yamaha four-wheeler last month after first having lured its owner to Cleveland. Pew was taken into custody yesterday at the Justice Center on a charge of telecommunications. fraud. The White House says the U.S. and Iran have agreed on a memorandum of understanding that would extend the fragile ceasefire for 60 days, but President Trump hasn't signed off on it just yet. Iran says the text of the memorandum hasn't been finalized. Vice President JD Vance addressing some of the sticking points. There are a couple of issues on the nuclear stuff, the highly enriched stockpile, and also the question enrichment. So, you know, we're going back and forth with them. If approved, the extended ceasefire would allow time for formal talks over the war that started three months ago when the U.S. and Israel attacked Iran. But the Guardians are eight games over 500 as they enter play this weekend. And with that three-game lead, now they will not have Stephen Kwan in the lineup this weekend. He is away from the team on the bereavement family. emergency list, so he will be away from the team. They can add a player to the roster. Some speculation has George Valera getting the call up, but nothing official from the Guardians yet as they get ready for tonight's game one at 710. And of course, you can hear it right here with our Guardians game day beginning at 6. Will there be a Major League Baseball season next year? Well, the current collective bargaining agreement expires at the end of this year. Actually, the 1st of December, owners have proposed now a hard salary cap of $243 million. Interesting though, there's also a hard floor cap of 171. Teams like the Guardians would have to significantly increase their payrolls, but I just don't see the players at this point accepting a hard overall cap. But this is just the beginning of the negotiations you're going to be hearing about, probably... These things always go down to the deadline, probably into the end of November. NBA playoffs last night in San Antonio, Game 7. Game 6. 31 point difference, and they're up by 23. You'll be able to hear that press conference first time we get to hear from Kobe since the Cavaliers season ended on Monday night. The Browns have been conducting their off-season workouts and new defensive coordinator. Mike Rudenberg has an interesting take on how he tries to get his players to view the football defensively. Listen to what he says. The ball is oxygen. Like, you need oxygen to live. So the ball is our oxygen. We need it for our football lives. So anytime that ball is in the air or somebody's running it, we're attacking it. If it's on the ball, if it's on the ground, we're scooping it, and we are scoring with it. So it just has to do with our mindset that that is our livelihood, and it's our oxygen.

39:22

Need that oxygen. All right, go get that football. Browns have another week of off-season workouts next week, and then the mandatory camp, June 9th. Of course, we know Miles Garrett has not shown up in any of these voluntary sessions. It will become news if he's not there for the mandatory camp on June 9th. Home of the Guardians and the Cavs, Mike Snyder, W-T-A-M sports. Kobe Sam Altman 1030 this morning. I was looking at the roster. Look, you know, it's technical. I don't want to get in the high weeds about moving contracts. look at names or the type of player they're missing. I was thinking this morning, I mean, I was frustrated. I didn't have a big stopper. I know we got tall guys. We got Alan Mobley, but I mean a big body in there. But it's like in the NFL. All season, they talk about passing, then you get to the playoffs, you run the ball, stop the run. The NBA, yes, you've got the three-pointers, but, boy, it comes down to defense, too, in the postseason, Mike. Well, I think one of the things true, absolutely, Bill. It always does, I think. And the thing the calves have to look at is upgrading, I think, the wing spot. More athleticism, I think, to what your point is. When you look at the wings, the Knicks had the Knicks have Ann and Obie. They've got heart and bridges, and the I absolutely had trouble matching up with those guys. And, you know, that's the way the roster is right now. They've got the two bigs with Mowbly and Allen. And then you've got guards, Donovan, and James. They're not, I mean, they're not all defensive players, right? So that, I think, is part of the issue that they've got to figure out as they go forward. I mean, they got to the final this year. But I think we saw that they had problems with wing-type guards, even when the Toronto series. So those kind of forwards, I think. We've got the big guys inside. we need more strength athleticism too. When you watch like Oklahoma City in San Antonio right now, even beyond Wembenyama, I mean, this guy's out of this world. But even some of the other players they have, kind of that athletic strong with some, you know, some muscle that you're talking about. They need to add that. But they've got a roster situation. Well, here what Kobe says, how much maneuverability that they have. When they look at this apron without getting into all of that, how many moves can they realistically make? What can they do? That's what I think we're interested in hearing from him about today. 1030, Kobe Sam Altman. You'll hear it like you're hearing us right now. News Radio WTAM, 1100. Traffic weather now. Your driver's Pat Butler. The El Canal Traffic Center, if a medical mistake caused you injury, call 1-800 Elk, Ohio, getting a little bit busier, making your way into downtown. 71 North is backing up around the Metro Health Curve. 77 North is slow in between 480 and Grant, and then pretty solid from Harvard up to East 30th. The Jennings North remains shut down for repair work between Harvard Denison and West 14th. It's a little heavy on 90 East in between Warren and West 117 in that construction zone. Watch out for a cone reported on the roadway. There's a roadkill situation. slowing things down on the east side, 271 north just past Broadway Forbes, and also an accident reported in Illyria, slowing things down Route 20 at Taylor. Remember when I talked about this a little bit the other day. Shadur Bernie Sanders back during the season had his home broken into. They were in the house for like 15 minutes, went right to the bedroom, stole a bunch of stuff. and I guess technically they said 12 minutes they were in the home these four anyway January this year three were arrested in Atlanta still looking for one but they think it might be tied into a bigger story that broke this week about break-ins with other celebrities in football like Joe Burrow and others and a few out in LA to a ring that goes all the way to South America former FBI guy, ABC News, crime terrorism analyst Brad Garrett on this this morning, to follow up on this burglary ring that was pretty organized, obviously, Brad. It seems like they're very similar as to the individuals that were ultimately caught, i.e. being from some South American country. So this is how this works. The most recent case, LAPD, LASO, I think the sense were involved and other folks, caught a burglary ring in Los Angeles that had hit over, they think, way over 20 houses before they got caught.

45:10

And typically, I can just tell you based on reviewing this stuff months ago, is that they tend to come in with a... let's say a tourist visa for 30 days. And it's already pre-wired who they contact here. They end up in basically a burglary team. They do surveillance on houses. They do pre-surveillance. They even set up in some places their own surveillance cameras to capture your movements coming and going. Once they decide that nobody's home, they can hit your house. They go in, they burglarize it, and then there's this whole network of how they get rid of the high-end washes, clothing, whatever it might be, they end up stealing. They eventually get paid. Sometimes they go to a bank, open a bank account here, have the money transferred, let's say if they were from Peru, back to Peru, and then they leave. And then there's this constant blow, apparently, of people coming in to do this for a few days or a week or two or three, and then they go back home. you can see how The flow would just sort of be continual for law enforcement because, let's face it, places like Los Angeles are just ideal targets because you have so many high-end houses. Without a doubt, L.A. District Attorney called it brazen, calculated, and predatory. And, boy, my goodness, the organization that had to go into these break-ins and what they were stealing. Fascinating. ABC News, Crime, Terry's and analyst, Brad Garrett. Hey, Brad, thanks much. You're welcome to take care of it. I'll put it in a way only I could. The Bloom Daddy Show. And I think you're going to feel it as soon as you hear it. Cleveland's afternoon, news, talk, and sports. All the things that are going on. A lot going on. We'll cover it all. This afternoon starting at 3. Later on W.T.A.m. 1100.
