I really slowed down because, you know, you run in some of that area that kind of pulls up a bit there. And I hit one little bit of a lake. I said, whoa, wait a minute. Hang on here. Hold on, Henry. Yeah. Hold on. Battling some of that. Yeah. Get that spray. Well, Bill, we've got a big matchup in Chicago tonight. Guardians and White Sox will fight for first place. A five-year-old girl is dead following a tragic accident in Star County's Plain Township. The girl walked out of her home Sunday afternoon and into the backyard of the family's home on Burr Oak Street southeast about 3 p.m. yesterday where her father was doing work with a heavy compact earth-moving machinery. That's when the girl was apparently accidentally struck. Her father found her on the ground with severe injuries rushed her to Mercy Hospital where she died. The father also suffered injury when he jumped from the equipment after seeing her. The Stark County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Tragedy Times 3 in Geaga County Saturday afternoon when a small plane crashed upon returning to the Geoga County Airport en route from Pennsylvania. The plane went down in a field about a mile away from the airport, taking the lives of 76-year-old Thomas Cunningham of Rome, 71-year-old John Taipei of Geneva, and 40-year-old Alexander Taipei also of Geneva. I think they were doing like a day trip or something, but it sounds like they're on their way home. No word. What caused the plane to go down? The State Patrol, FAA, and National Transportation Safety Board are all investigating. North Ridgeville police are searching for a suspect after a rolling domestic violence incident Sunday. Police say the suspect threatened somebody inside a car with a hammer and what appeared to be a handgun. Officers later stopped the vehicle, but the suspect got out and ran away. Police say multiple agencies helped search the area, but the suspect has not been found. High-level delegations from the U.S. and Iran meeting in Switzerland Sunday with Vice President JD Vance on the ground, joined by mediators from Qatar and Pakistan. The discussions are said to focus on technical details of the memorandum of understanding signed last week. Meantime, Iran were spawning the threats made by President Trump as those nuclear negotiations got underway. President Trump reportedly threatening the Iranian negotiators telling Fox News, they won't have a country if the critical waterway is shut.

down. The president also demanding Iran stop Hezbollah from, quote, causing trouble. Posting, if they don't, we'll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder. Iran's chief negotiator firing back, posting on X, warning the U.S. to be careful about making threats against Iran and that Iran's armed forces are ready to respond. ABC's Allison Kosick reporting. Senator Lindsey Graham says he expects President Trump to take the Strait of Hormuz over by force if the deal fails. The South Carolina Republican making the comment on CBS face the nation saying that if Iran contests control of the straight, Uncle Sam will obliterate that. We'll charge a fee for all those who go through to pay for the operation, and we're going to expand the Abraham Accords in calendar year 2026. Graham's comments come amid the uncertainty regarding the vital waterway. Iran says it has shut down the oil shipping lane in protest of Israel attacking Lebanon, which it says is a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The U.S. military claims, however, that Hormuz is open and that traffic continues to flow. U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announcing he's stepping down. Keir Starmer's support within the ruling labor party plummeted following reports that he knew his ambassador to the United States had ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey. Epstein. In remarks this morning, Keir Starmer said he will step aside following an election over the summer. Every decision I've taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labor Party. Stamer, who says he'll remain as Prime Minister until a successor is in place has been in power since July 24. U.S. Attorney from the District of Columbia, Janine Piro, said Sunday that her office will prosecute anyone caught vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool during an appearance on Fox News of the Sunday briefing. Piro warned that offenders will face the D.C. criminal justice system and emphasized the administration's focus on keeping the city safe and beautiful. The administration has spent nearly $15 million repainting the pool blue and repairing leaks, but an algae bloom and peeling paint have complicated the restoration. for the latest deadlines at the top and bottom of the hour. Maybe you're graduate. Congratulations. Now you've got to pay it off, right? There are some changes in the student loan business coming up at 650. What you need to know from Ashley Mays at Sequoia Financial Group. Costa college, though, around the state of Ohio, undergrad at public universities. Anywhere from 13 to 13.5 a year. Some private schools, Kenyon, I think, is over 70,000. Now, by the way, I'm using artificial intelligence. to get some of this information, which is worrying many college grants. University of Akron's about 137, Cleveland State, 13-2, UC's at 14. University of Toledo's around 12. I hear it's Roy O'Neill in, though, because each year we get this list of the expensive colleges, I think some of them like to brag just how much it costs to get in before you get the aid, Rory. Yeah, a lot of them, though, private universities, and we're talking the total of the tuition fees, room and board books, the whole shooting match. And Princeton Review and CNBC have this list that now has 16 colleges that cost more than $100,000 just for one year. Harvey Mudd College is top of the heap just shy of $105,000. Duke University of Chicago, USC Barnard College. Washington University, Smith, Fordham, the list goes on, 16 schools with those huge costs. But you'd think, wait, what about Harvard or Penn or MIT? You know, in many cases, Harvard and MIT and Penn, they're actually tuition-free. That's also a growing movement. They say, look, we have these endowments, and if your household income reflects that you need a little help here. many of these schools are now going tuition-free. That's a good point. I think they like the price things like an ego thing, but the actual cost, if you can get in, you're right, it's not that expensive then.

Well, I wouldn't say not that expensive. It seems to be somewhat more manageable. And a lot of the schools I've already talked about, you know, again, based on household, your family income and the student's performance, they note that there can be scholarships and aid worth about 57% of these costs. So essentially, you can get more than half off the sticker price. So I compare this to going to the car lot, right? No one pays sticker price. Right. Well, I would think, too, now more than ever, and I'm not given parenting advice, but if you're saving or, you know, trying to pay your son or daughter's college bill, what kind of a career, what job are they going to have compared to what it costs to get them there through college, you know? Right. I mean, especially for something where you're paying, you know, a half a million dollars just to graduate the school. And, yeah, you're right. What kind of career does have that payback? Yeah, especially when there's a lot of these are liberal art schools. You know, like what art history degree is going to make that worthwhile? I felt like we got in between. He got us in between. We were out front of the sweepers and played on the fastballs, and it's a tough way to survive when we're doing that. He had a rough outing his last time out. Now, as we look at the standings in his battle for first place, the White Sox did get swept by the Tigers. So Cleveland at 41 and 37 with a one-game lead over the White Sox, but the teams are even in the lost column. Chicago's 39 and 37. And as we look at things in the division now, with Cleveland struggling and the White Sox had a rough week, Minnesota's only three and a half back. And the Tigers, despite being 33 and 44, they're only seven and a half games out. And here we are. We're not even at the 4th of July. Kansas City's only nine back in last place. So, well, this is a battle for first place.

All three lives lost bill when that small plane fell out of the sky Saturday afternoon in Middlefield in Geaga County. It's under investigation by the state patrol. A little girl losing her life in Stark County's Plain Township Sunday in an apparent freak accident and progress apparently made in day one of diplomatic discussions between Uncle Sam and Iran in Switzerland. Let's talk some flying. Avi Schnexpert, Jay Ratniff on a couple of things. First of all, we've got some audio. We're going to try and play here as Jay starts on this update this morning. Had a near miss in Boston? Tell me about this. The departing American Airlines flight that had been given takeoff clearance by the air traffic control, then you had a Delta flight that was coming in, preparing to land. They were also given permission to land, and had both of those been allowed to proceed, Bill, there's a very good chance they would have intersected at the exact wrong moment, and we could have had just an absolute catastrophe on our hands. The Delta crews, they're coming into land, notices the aircraft taking off the American Airlines, and they tell the tower they're going to abort their landing and go around. The tower then turns to American crew and says, what are you doing? And they responded, look, you gave us permission to take off. So apparently here it was a mistake by the air traffic controller and one that... at least one of the flight crews noticed, and they were able to divert in time. So, yeah, certainly some anxious moments in Boston, and hats off for the Delta crew for doing exactly what they should have done. A little bit of the exchange here from the cockpits and the air traffic controller about this. One, runway 27, Clifford, Clayford-Taygo. Clear for takeout, runway 27, Mexico, 31, 20161. Delta, 23-3-2, I'm going around because of America. Mark, 3161, where you go? You cleared for takeoff, 3161. America, 3161, contact bolts in the porch. You know, we played this audio, and I know they're using Vox systems back and forth, they're using these codes, and it is amazing to me how quick the communication normally is on this stuff, Jay. Well, it's communication, and then they have the readback to make sure they're confirming exactly what they've been told. And it is – it's a very deliberate exchange so that everybody is on the same page. And, you know, there are issues, though, that you said, like you said, if somebody steps on somebody else by two people trying to use same frequency at the same time, it can become a problem. But, you know, what we've got to look at, and there'll be an investigation on this one from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board. is to try to find out if the air traffic control center was staffed, as it should have been. Was this individual working on some serious overtime that needs to be addressed? Because a lot of times they have forced overtime with a shortage of air traffic controller. So, yeah, we'll find out what happened, and then they'll take the steps as needed through training and otherwise to try to prevent something like this from happening again.

State and federal investigators are probing a plane crashed Saturday afternoon in Middlefield, which took the lives of the three men on board. The plane apparently returning from a day trip in Pennsylvania when it crashed about a mile away from the Georgia County Airport. For the most part, it's still intact. There are some pieces that are still out there, but for the most part, it is still intact. identified as 76-year-old Thomas Cunningham of Rome, 71-year-old John Taipei of Geneva, and 40-year-old Alexander Taipei of Geneva. A barricade situation at a Shaker Heights apartment building ended safely Sunday morning. Police say 23-year-old Zaki Pickens barricaded himself inside an apartment after a physical altercation with his girlfriend. Hereby units were evacuated as a precaution and a SWAT team helped manage the response. Pickens was taken into custody without incident. Lane reductions begin today in Cleveland's Gateway District for the Memorial Bridges Loop Project. City leaders say the project will create a protected shared use path connected. the Gateway District to West 25th Street, the Detroit Superior Bridge, and the Lorraine Carnegie Bridge. The work will affect parts of Huron, Ontario, and Detroit. Lane restrictions expected to last through mid-November. A five-year-old girl tragically killed Sunday afternoon when she wandered outside of her home on Burr Oak Street southeast in Stark County's plain township, only to be struck by a heavy piece of equipment being operated by her father in the backyard. The girl was inside the family's home with her mother about 3 p.m. yesterday when she got out of the house, walked into the backyard, and was apparently struck by a compact earth moving machine being operated by her dad. The man found the girl on the ground with severe injuries, took her to Mercy Hospital. That's where she was pronounced dead. The father was also injured when he jumped from the machine after finding the girl. The Star County Sheriff's office is investigating. Iran's foreign minister says progress was made in mediated talks with the U.S. overnight, although those talks were nearly derailed once again Sunday. ABC's Karen Hua has the latest from Washington. Renewed Israeli attacks prompted Iran to once again threaten to close the street of Hormuz. President Trump then lashing out yesterday, warning Iran, you close it and you won't have a country. You won't even make it back to your expletive country, adding that he would, quote, blow the expletive out of them should the strait be closed. Iran's delegation appearing to walk out of the Swiss venue where the talks are being held. But overnight came word that the talks continued. Karen Hua, ABC News, Washington. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is resigning. I have spoken to His Majesty the King this morning to inform him of my decision.

I will ask the National Executive Committee of the Labor Party to set out a timetable with nominations opening on the 9th of July and completed by the summer recess. During a news conference outside of 10 Downing Street this morning, Keir Starmer said the Labor Party has made it clear he's not the one to lead them moving forward. You were there, you remember exactly where you were, all about that day. And the GM of that cabs team, David Griffin, he was in town last week, and I asked David for his recollection of that day. Well, I talked about it before, but people hanging out of this parking garage was one of the lasting memories I have. I think the fact that our guys enjoyed the community's much and just the interplay of the fans and the team and we were sort of like one entity on that day and that's really that's what you want to do this for you know it's what dan gilbert and his his family have always been about is delivering those moments and so it was fun to see it through honestly mike i felt relief as much as anything else Yeah, I think that there were really no serious incidents throughout that day overall with all those people. And I think he also thought from relief from winning that championship that year for the Cavaliers. Now, today is the eve of the NBA draft. Come the 1st of July, let's spend some time with Ashley May, Senior Director, Wealth Advisor, out of Sequoia Financial Group, on what you need to know if you're one of the millions of borrowers, that you might need to act now for some different options. Hey, Ashley, good morning. Appreciate your time. Good morning, Bill. Okay, let's talk about who first and what's happening July 1st. Tell me about this deadline. Yeah, so July 1st is this looming deadline. And so really, to take a step back, these federal loans have been given a lot of options for repayment. So these borrowers have previously, historically had a lot of repayment plan options. Come July 1st, a lot of those options are no longer available. So after July 1st, if you're looking to borrow money, a lot of these options are no longer available for you to choose from, as well as for the people who are already borrowing the funds and already in these plans might be forced to make a change. So some of these programs even go by COVID days. The government was trying to adjust and knowing everybody was. was having trouble. Take me through some repayment options for people that might be looking at this as far as changing what they're doing. Yeah. So after July 1, there's two big repayment plan options going forward. It's a standard repayment plan and the RAP plan, which is based off of your income. So the first one, the standard plan is fixed payments. So it's just a fixed rate based off of your loan balance. And then the repayment assistance plan or the RAP plan is income driven. So it's based off of how much earnings you have. One thing to be aware of about that income driven repayment plan is there's a little bit of a downside. So a lot of these people who have these loans are going into careers, making a lot of income.

The RAP repayment plan has no cap, meaning if your income keeps rising throughout your career, you could potentially have a pretty massive student loan payment on a monthly basis. Ashley Mays with me, talking about changes in the federal student loan rules that will happen on July 1st. Reading up on this, I thought I saw something called a save plan, but you haven't mentioned that so far. I have not, but that is a pretty large... plan out there right now, about 7.5 million borrowers are currently in the save plan. And what's happening with the save plan is it's going away. So this is this is a pretty big one with this July 1st deadline. So everyone in the save plan will receive a 90 day notice requiring these borrowers to choose a new plan. And so if you don't act, you will automatically be enrolled in that standard repayment plan, which as a reminder is based on the loan balance, not your income. So of course, for some people that might be okay, but for other people who, you know, want to pay a payment based off of their income, they really need to log in before July. first or within the 90 days and make sure you elect for the plan that you want okay and listen up parents parents plus parent plus if you've had a couple of these different loans especially with different sons and daughters they're going to force you to consolidate those yep exactly so a lot of parent plus loans have already been consolidated but if not there's a pretty hard deadline on june 30th to consolidate all into a direct consolidation loan, which At the end of the day, the biggest thing that's changing with the Parent Plus loan is if you miss the deadline for that June 30th consolidation, you will not have access to income-driven repayment plans. So again, this kind of seems like the theme, but you'll automatically be forced into the standard repayment plan. So if you want that income repayment plan option, I encourage you to log in and kind of check it out and see your options. Get you out here on this on just the bottom line of what we're talking about Owing. And really it might be a little homework for you and the team out there. Bob, maybe we do a little bit in the future as people thinking about college this fall, of course, and planning paying for it. I mean, this is something hopefully every parent started years ago, but it's a huge budget issue, right? Absolutely. I mean, student loans out there in general have been a huge part of the education landscape. At the end of the day, there's so many changes happening to the student loan world in 2026. So bottom line is there were a lot of options. Going forward, there's not as many options, but whether you're a current borrower or a future borrower,

You definitely should do your research, figure out what type of loans you have, figure out what are the options moving forward before July 1st. High-level negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are off to a tense start in Switzerland after Tehran condemned President Trump's comments about more attacks if Iran goes back on an interim deal. He also threatened to bomb Iran if its proxies in Lebanon don't stop attacking Israel. Tehran responded by saying Israel's deadly strikes must also stop immediately. Trump further suggested the U.S. could take over. the vital Strait of Hormuz if a long-term deal is not reached. Negotiations led by Vice President JD Vance have wrapped up for now, but technical teams will keep working toward a deal all week. A U.S. official says the talks were productive and covered several issues, including ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and maintaining the ceasefire in Lebanon. Changing of the Guard in Britain is UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announcing he's stepping down. Keir Starmer's support within the ruling Labor Party plummeted following reports that he knew his ambassador to the United States had ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In remarks this morning, Keir Starmer said he'll step aside following an election over the summer. The question my party is asking now is whether I am best placed to lead us into the next general election. I have heard the answer of my parliamentary party to that question. And I accept that answer with good grace. Keir Starmer has spent two years as Britain's Prime Minister. Cleveland's flock license play reader cameras are still set to go dark June 29, but the contract could come back up for a vote. City Council's Public Safety Committee voting 3-1 Wednesday against renewing the $250,000 contract. Police say the cameras help with violent crime investigations, stolen vehicles, missing persons cases, and hit skip crashes. Safety Committee Chairman Mike Polensick says the bigger issue here is the prosecution of criminals busted with those cameras. ATV, the dirt bike takeovers, the street takeovers, we're seeing. Why are they utilizing that information to prosecute individuals? I mean, that's a real rub within the council and within the greater community. Some council members and critics say they want more proof. The cameras are working and stronger privacy protections. A family in Stark County is mourning the loss of a five-year-old girl in a tragic accident. The girl was inside her plain township home on Burr Oak Street southeast Sunday afternoon with her mother, while her dad was operating a huge compact earth-moving machine in their backyard. The girl wandered outside and was apparently struck by the machine. The father found the severely injured girl on the ground, rushed her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The father was also injured when he jumped from the machine. After finding the girl, the accident is underinduced. investigation. Repairs to damaged paint in the National Mall reflecting pool set to begin immediately. President Trump claimed in a social media post Sunday that he has inspected the pool, blaming the peeling paint job on vandalism. He also claimed in a Saturday post that the chemicals were used to damage the paint. The contractor responsible for the paint job released a statement Sunday saying the repair would be covered under the project's warranty. Imagine there's no heaven.

It was 45 years ago today, John Lennon's killer pleaded guilty to taking the life of the former Beatle. More now from Fox News Radio's Michelle Polino. Mark David Chapman changed the course of music history by gunning down John Lennon. The former Beatle and Yoko Ono had just emerged from their home at the Dakota in Manhattan when Chapman approached and asked for an autograph, handing Lenin his double fantasy album to sign. When the couple returned home, Chapman waited in the shadows then emerged. and gun linen down. He removed his coat, dropped the gun, and began reading the catcher in the rye until police arrived. According to a U.S. Bank survey of adults, younger adults report the sharpest money stress. Nearly half a Gen Z say they avoid checking their accounts entirely. They're afraid they don't have any money. Nearly three quarters of millennials report high to moderate anxiety over checking and savings balances. One in four adults say they would need $10,000 saved to avoid financial stress right now. Most Americans say they've got about $5 grand in their bank account. How much do you have? Speaking of Gen Z and young adults especially, do you have a son or daughter living with you? Are you a son or daughter living with mom and dad? You are not alone. It has been a trend really since the pandemic. Millions of young adults are delaying life on their own as high housing costs, keeping from moving out and staying with mom and dad. Last year, 25.2 million adults under the age of 35 still lived with a parent. That amounts to roughly one in three people. One in three people under the age of 35 still live with a parent. Adults living with parents today largely employed. Many hold college degrees, but they lack any housing that they can afford. And they're trying to save for a down payment to buy a house. The U.S. is short roughly 4 million homes with entry-level properties. especially scarce. The national median home listing price is now $430,000. That's up 30% since before the pandemic. A lot of people just say they can't afford a house. In 2000, about one in nine employed adults in the late 20 still lived with mom and dad. That number has grown to nearly one in seven.

Now, and one more thing on money, it might help with mortgage rates lowering a bit, and I mean just a bit, but it's a good headline for the real estate business. Mortgage rates fell last week, lowest level. In more than a month, average 30-year fixed is at 6.47, down a little from 6.52. The average, though, for a 30-year was 6.8 a year ago. 15-year fixed mortgage is averaging 5.8 down from 5.84. 715, Cleveland's morning news with Wilson Snyder. That came in the fifth inning. They only had four hits on the day. Of note, Bazana with the RBI there, he grounded out to score P.D. Alpin, who had triple. That was the route. That was it. That was it for the Guardians, as they just could not get anything going. But what a weekend it was for Bazana. He goes one for four yesterday in the three-game series. He went seven for 12. four runs scored, a double two homers, six runs batted in. So he's trying to pick things up for the Guardians after, of course, the brutal weekend a week ago where they lost Ramirez. They lost the louder and Martinez as well. As far as their approach yesterday, Stephen Boats said, with the guys who were there, they just did not follow it. Yeah, he pitched a good game. I just thought... I felt like we weren't committed to our plan as well as we should have been. I felt like we got in between. He got us in between. We were out front of the sweepers and played on the fastballs. And it's a tough way to survive when we're doing that. And a very good outing by Slade. Cicone goes for naught. He works six innings, but he falls to three and six on the year. So now the Guardians move on. Final leg of this road trip. And we're going to get a first-hand look at those White Sox. Really been the surprise team in baseball this year. And the Guardians enter this three-game series with a one. game lead over Chicago. Gavin Williams will be on the mound tonight. He's at 9 and 4-383 earned run average coming off of a rough outing. But I mean, it was just incredible. You know, you look at some of the video and the security they had basically LeBron, the team, they were going through the crowd. People were all around them. I mean, they just, there were nowhere to put the people on that day. It was incredible. And I had a chance to catch up with Griff. Rep, it's great to have you back in town if you celebrate the 10-year anniversary. On the inside in the winter, that same window you can't see. But you steered this group. What was so special about that team? I think just their willingness to sacrifice for each other. They're like singular belief in one another. J.R. Smith has said this publicly many times. They believed more in him than he did. For him to reel off the eight points he did run him out of the halftime of game seven, he knew. and his heart he had that. But his teammates made him believe it. And that's what was special about that group. As you are here today, we prison this new court here outside of Rocket Arena. Memories you have from the parade day.

Well, I talked about it before, but people hanging out of this parking garage was one of the lasting memories I have. I think the fact that our guys enjoyed the community so much and just the interplay of the fans and the team. And we were sort of like one entity on that day. And that's really, that's what you want to do this for. You know, it's what Dan Gilbert and his family have always been about is delivering those moments. And so it was fun to see it. Honestly, Mike, I felt relief as much as anything else. Well, Griff, you were so instrumental in all of that. And it was, as you point out, the connection with families, generations for the cab to win. Yeah, I mean, when you win the only title in 52 years at that point, I guess it's 62 years now, it delivers something, and it believes the positivity and a spirit that I think you saw reflected in the fact that the Indians went to the World Series right afterwards, right? A statement from the two nations went on to say, talks on Sunday brought encouraging progress, although there were some apparent tensions. More now from Fox News Radio's Jonathan Savage. Vice President JD Vance led the United States contingent in these first talks since an interim peace deal was agreed. The goal is a permanent end to fighting and a solution to the question of Iran's nuclear ambitions. Mediators say... encouraging progress was made, but it was not all smooth sailing. Iranian state media said negotiations were paused after what it called an insulting message from President Trump. The President spoke to Fox News over the weekend and threatened to take over Iran. He posted on social media, we'll hit Iran very hard if the Iranians don't stop proxies causing trouble in Lebanon. Technical level talks will continue through the week. Jonathan Savage, Fox News. Meantime, Senator Lindsey Graham says President Trump would probably take the Strait of Hormuz over by force if a deal ultimately isn't hammered out. The South Carolina Republican making the comment on CBS face the nation saying that of Iran contests control the strait. The U.S. will obliterate them. Graham had this stern warning for the Iranian regime. To the Iranians, if you're listening, when you use Hezbollah to attack Israel, I think the new policy will be we will attack Iran. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is stepping down. During a press conference today outside 10 Downing Street, Keir Starmer said the Labor Party has made it clear he's not the one to lead moving forward. Every decision I've taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labor Party. Keir Starmer, who says he will remain as Prime Minister until his successor is in place, has been in power since July of 2024. I'm Mark Mayfield. Gun violence, unfortunately, running rampant in Chicago as at least three dozen people were shot over the weekend in the windy city. More now on that story from ABC's Hannah-Bata. A violent weekend in Chicago, at least 36 people were shot in the city, seven killed. President Trump is renewing his call for military intervention. At least two dozen shootings were reported in the city since Friday night. Shooting incidents in Chicago are slightly up this year. Tragedy striking in Stark County's Plain Township Sunday afternoon when a man doing work in his backyard with a compact earth moving machine on Burr Oak Street Northeast accidentally struck his five-year-old daughter. The man was using the heavy piece of machinery about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon when the girl somehow wandered out of the home and went into the backyard while her dad was operating that equipment. The father found the girl on the ground with severe injuries. He took her to Mercy Hospital. That's where she was pronounced dead. That case remains.

This is Bloomberg Money Minute. Regulators have taken their biggest step to date to speed the connection of data centers to the nation's power grids. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved a series of orders that has removed bottlenecks that had risk slowing down the artificial intelligence boom. But fast tracking will come with tradeoffs for the artificial intelligence tech giants, including requiring them to pay for needed grid updates. Checking on the markets, investors are returning to their desks from the long holiday weekend. The mood is cautious this morning as Wall Street evaluates the talks between the U.S. and Iran. United Kingdom going to need a new leader, as Prime Minister Keir Starmer says, he is stepping. dropping down and tragedy strikes in Stark County's Plain Township as a five-year-old girl loses her life in her own backyard. July 4th will be the one year, a sad anniversary, 25 young campers, two counselors died in those July 4th floodings at what we would all know as Camp Mystic in Texas, bringing Fox's Tanya Powers this point. There was a report released last week going through and reading this, my goodness, it sounded like the camp just was not prepared for something like this, Tonya.

No, and the state law required them to be, quite frankly. The Texas legislature's 115-page report says basically that if Camp Mystic had had the proper evacuation plans, as well as the required counselor training, which is required by state law, there would have been time to get the campers to safety when that flash flood hit last July 4th in the early morning hours. That, of course, killed 28 people, including 25 girls between the ages of 8, 10. along with two 18-year-old counselors and the camp's owner, Dick Eastland. So many things like they took cell phones from campers, which you normally, you know, a lot of people do that at camp, but you've got to have communication between the cabins. There were no two-way radios. They had chances through the night to do an evacuation. They kept waiting and waiting. It looked like every time they had a chance to make a decision, they made the wrong one. Yes. The report also found that at the time of that flooding, there were at least 39 adults at the camp who were physically able and could have been tasked to help with evacuations had they been trained. You mentioned the timing on this. This is what is the most disturbing thing. I think one of the most disturbing things about it. There are plenty in there. But the flash flood warning came at 1.14 a.m. Now, the camp owner, Dick Eveland, and a night watchman actually stayed up that night because the flash warning, flash flood warnings were being issued by the weather service. It came at 114. About 2.30 in the morning, two of the teenage counselors ran over to the main office and reported that there was water coming into the cabins and asked for help. Between that 114 and 230, the report found that if all campers had been instructed to evacuate their cabins by foot, there was still ample time and opportunity for all of them to move the very short distance to reach higher and safer ground. Matter of fact, these two investigators that they put in charge of investigating this say several times. there wasn't they didn't have to go very far it wasn't like they're hiking a mile to get to you know higher ground they didn't have to go far at all and for that first hour and a half or so The water was maybe an inch or so. At one point, it was just like ankle deep. They could have walked through it to get that short distance away, and they didn't evacuate the cabin in time. When they finally did do something, the camp owner woke up his adult son. They grabbed a couple of SUVs and started, and they went from what they said in the report inefficiently trying to evacuate people in the SUVs. The camp had also passed inspection two days before this flood. That says something right there, sad. Texas, looking back at what they did, what they did wrong. 25 young campers, two counselors died. The one-year anniversary coming up on July 4th of Camp Mystic in Texas. Fox's Tanya Powers on the report that was released last week. Tanya, thanks much. Sure, thank you.

High-level delegations from the United States and Iran met in Switzerland Sunday with Vice President JD Vance on the ground, joined by mediators from Qatar and Pakistan. Those discussions are said to focus on technical details of the memorandum of understanding signed just last week. Meantime, Iran is responding to threats made by President Trump as those nuclear negotiations. get underway. President Trump reportedly threatening the Iranian negotiators telling Fox News they won't have a country if the critical waterway is shut down. The president also demanding Iran stop Hezbollah from, quote, causing trouble. Posting, if they don't, we'll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder. Iran's chief negotiator firing back, posting on X, warning the U.S. to be careful about making threats against Iran and that Iran's armed forces are ready to respond. ABC's Allison Kosick reporting. Meantime, Senator Lindsey Graham says he expects President Trump to take the Strait of Hormuz over by force if a deal fails. The South Carolina Republican making the comment on CBS face the nation saying that if Iran contests control of the strait, the U.S. will obliterate them. We'll charge a fee for all those who go through to pay for the operation, and we're going to expand the Abraham Accords in calendar year 2026.

Grant's comments come amid uncertainty regarding the vital waterway. Iran says it has shut down the oil shipping lane in protest of Israel attacking Lebanon, which it says is a violation of the ceasefire agreement. The U.S. military claims, however, that Hormuz is open and that traffic continues to flow. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announcing he's stepping down. Keir Starmer's support within the ruling Labor Party plummeted following reports that he knew his ambassador to the United States had ties to convicted sex offender. Jeffrey Epstein. In remarks this morning, Keir Starmer said he'll step aside following an election over the summer. Every decision I've taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labor Party. Keir Starmer, who says he'll stay as Prime Minister until a successor's name, has been in power since July of 2024. A five-year-old girl is dead following an apparent tragic accident in Stark County's Plain Township. The girl walked out of her home Sunday afternoon and into the backyard on Burr Oak Street southeast, about 3 p.m. where her father was doing work with a heavy compact earth-moving machine. That's when the girl apparently was accidentally struck. Her father found her on the ground with severe injuries and rushed to the Mercy Hospital where she died. The father also suffered injury when he jumped from the equipment after finding her, the Stark County shift. Sheriff's office is investigating. Tragedy Times 3 in Geoga County Saturday when a small plane crashed upon returning to the Geoga County Airport and route from Pennsylvania. The plane went down in a field about a mile away from the airport, taking the lives of 76-year-old Thomas Cunningham of Rome, 71-year-old John Taipei of Geneva, and also 40-year-old Alexander Taipei of Geneva. I think they were doing like a day trip or something, but it sounds like they're on their way home. No word what caused the plane to go down. The State Patrol, FAA, and National Transportation Safety Board are all investigating. Cleveland's flock license plate reader cameras are still set to go dark June 29th, but the contract could come back up for a vote. City Council's Public Safety Committee voted Wednesday 3 to 1 against the renewing the $250,000 a year contract. Police say the cameras help with violent crime, investigations, stolen vehicles, missing persons cases, and hit skip crashes. Some council members and critics say they want more proof. Slade Cicconi pitched very well, but does not get the win as the Guardians lose that game and the series to Houston. Stephen Boe was not happy at the approach to the hitters to him. Yeah, he pitched a good game. I just thought... I felt like we weren't committed to our plan as well as we should have been. I felt like we got in between. He got us in between. We were out front of the sweepers and played on the fastballs, and it's a tough way to survive when we're doing that. Bezana did knock in the only run coming off of that Saturday night game in which he hammered two home runs and knocked in five. So the guardians with that loss, they fall to 41 and 37, but they are still in first place as the White Sox were swept over the weekend by the Tigers, so as they begin a three-game series in Chicago, tonight. Cleveland has a one-game lead over the Sox, but the teams actually are deadlocked in the loss column. Gavin Williams tries to bounce back from a rough outing in his last go of it as he tries again to get win number 10, and you can hear it tonight at 740 as the Guardians and Sox go at it in Chicago. All right, those stories coming up at 830. Thanks, Carmen. ABC's Mike Duboskey is with me. There's a headline that caught my eye, and Mike's eye as well, because he's going to report on it. Several layers of this. Headline is Land Rover, which is a British company, has a rather unlikely partner to build their SUV in this country. All right, explain this to me. What do we know here? Yeah, that's right. So Land Rover kind of thought of as like the British equivalent of Jeep. They make sort of high quality off-roaders like the Range Rover and the Land Rover Defender. Well, last week we learned that they have plans to build the Defender, which is kind of like their fancy version of the Jeep Wrangler, here in the United States using technology from Stalantis, which is of course the parent company of companies like Chrysler and Dodge and Jeep and Ram. Right now, the Defender is built. in Slovakia, which is currently under a 15%. import tariff from the Trump administration, and this seems to be a way for Land Rover, which is a relatively small company when you compare it to, you know, the Mercedes and the BMWs of the world, to kind of get around that without investing the many billions of dollars it would take to build a factory here in the U.S. on their own. We also know that JLR, Jaguar Land Rover, as they're known, is recommitting to the United States in a pretty big way. Automotive news reported last week that the company is struggling in

China, and it sees an increase in sales in the U.S. as a way to stem that bleeding on the kind of global scale. Right now, about 30% of JLR sales are in the U.S. and the company says it wants its U.S. operations to be as big as the entire global company is today. Stalantis also gets something out of this. We've seen that company see a sales slump in recent quarters, though there have been some positive signs in the most recent quarter. They've also expressed an interest in allowing Chinese car companies to use some of their underused or idled factories in Europe to build their cars. It seems like this is kind of a similar system being set up in the U.S., albeit with Land Rover, not a Chinese company. You know, whether it's automobile business, broadcasting, everybody is thinking outside the box. I mean, some of these relationships that you and I talk about anymore would be unheard of 10 years ago, you know? Yeah, absolutely. And you look at a company like Jaguar Land Rover. Again, they're pretty small on the global stage as compared to some of the bigger players out there. That kind of makes them need to think about these sort of alternative ways to get around tariffs or to think differently about manufacturing in the U.S. It's not necessarily always building a new factory. Sometimes partnerships like this can work out. However, it's also worth mentioning that both Jaguar Land Rover and many Stalanta's products often rank kind of towards the bottom of global equality reports. So it's possible that this is not going to foster a particularly reliable vehicle, but we'll have to wait and see to when this car eventually comes out. We don't really have a good timeline for this. We're actually pretty short on information beyond what I just told you other than the idea that this car is going to be built here, the defender. We don't know whether it's like the next generation of the defender or just a different version of it. don't know specifically where it's going to be built or what technology from Stalantis it's going to borrow. So a lot of questions left to be answered. But again, to your point, this is one of the examples of a relatively large but kind of comparatively small company trying to think outside the box a little bit. Good news. Although the talks were nearly derailed once again on Sunday, ABC's Karen Hua has the latest from Washington. Renewed Israeli attacks prompted Iran to once again threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump then lashing out yesterday, warning Iran, you close it and you won't have a country. You won't even make it back to your expletive country, adding that he would, quote, blow the expletive out of them should the street be closed. Iran's delegation appearing to walk out of the Swiss venue where the talks are being held. But overnight came word that the talks continued. Karen Hua, ABC News, Washington. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Allen Greenspan has passed away at the age of 100. The noted economist died as a result of complications from Parkinson's disease. His death was announced this morning by his wife of nearly three decades, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell. Greenspan served as chairman for nearly 20 years under President's Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. Britain's Prime Minister Keir Starmer says he's resigning. I have spoken to His Majesty the King this morning to inform him of my decision. I will ask the National Executive Committee of the Labour Party to set out a timetable with nominations opening on the 9th of July and completed by the summer recess. During a news conference outside 10 Downing Street, Keir Starmer said the Labor Party has made it clear he's not the one to lead moving forward. Keir Starmer, who says he'll remain as Prime Minister until successors named has been in power since July 2024. Chicago police searching for suspects after a drive-by shooting on the city's south side left at least 13 people wounded late Friday night. Investigators say two gunmen opened fire on a crowd before speeding away in an SUV. The attack was part of a violent weekend across the city where... Investigators say at least 36 people were shot. Seven of the victims were killed. State and federal investigators probing a plane crash Saturday afternoon in Middlefield, which took the lives of the three men on board. The plane was apparently returning from a day trip in Pennsylvania when it crashed about a mile from Geoga County Airport. For the most part, it's still intact. There are some pieces that are still out there, but for the most part, it is still intact. The victims are identified as 76-year-old Thomas Cunningham of Rome, 71-year-old John Taipei of Geneva, and also 40-year-old Alexander Taipei of Geneva.

A five-year-old girl was tragically killed Sunday afternoon when she wandered outside of her home on Burr Oak Street southeast in Stark County's Plain Township, only to be struck by a heavy piece of equipment being operated by her father. The girl was inside the family's home with her mother about 3 p.m. yesterday when she got out of the house, walked in the backyard, and was apparently struck by a compact earth moving machine being operated by her dad. The man found the girl on the ground with severe injuries, took her to Mercy Hospital where she passed away. The father was also injured when he jumped from the machine after finding his daughter. The Stark County Sheriff's Office is investigating. Some of the decisions from the most high-profile Supreme Court cases of the term have yet to be decided. Though Fox's Jessica Rosenthal reports, all of them are expected over the next few weeks. One pending case will determine whether to uphold the president's executive order ending birthright citizenship. Executive power is at the heart of several other cases, including the president's ability to fire agency board or commission members. One case involves the firing of an FTC commissioner. The other involves the attempted firing of a Federal Reserve Board governor. The justices also heard a case that will determine the circumstances by which an administration can end temporary protected status for a group of migrants. Another case involves whether states can have rules that ban transgender athletes from women's and girls' sports, and yet another case pertains to how long states can accept mail-in ballots after Election Day. Yeah, you know, it's a good point, Bill, because... Guys that made impressions, you know, Khalil Watson made a strong impression in spring training. And to your point, you never get through a season, you know, injury-free, and you're never going to get through a season just using 26 or even 30 players. You know, usually by the time the season's over, you've used pretty close to 40 players. And, you know, your depth is going to be challenged unless you just have one of those. magical years that clubs have every once in a while. To your point, I don't think we've ever seen it challenged in five endings of one game with that many critical guys being lost. You know, the key now is these young guys are getting some experience. Can they keep their head above water? And, you know, just kind of keep paddling here until you get some of those guys fast. For sure, Tom. And I'll tell you, though, it is exciting. You're already in his brief major league career. I never want to miss a Travis Bazana at bat. No.

You know what? You're correct on that. I feel the same way. And, you know, he had the monster game on Saturday night. He's just, you know, we keep seeing him get better and better. He went through a little stretch there over the last couple of weeks where at times looked like maybe he was caught in between. When I said caught in between with Travis, you know, he kind of fights that battle of he's so patient and has such a good eye at the plate that sometimes... He maybe gets a little passive, and then he kind of maybe teeters the other way a little bit where he's a little bit over-aggressive and chasing a little bit. But he makes that adjustment. And, you know, there's a reason why he was the number one pick in the draft, and that's a big reason why. The ability to make an adjustment and not stay in any kind of an extended... slump if that's what you want to call it. But right now, is there more dangerous hitter on this ball club than Travis Bazana? And, you know, he's not even been here two months. Yeah, he's, boy, he is fun to watch. Tom, let's look at this series a little bit. I mean, the White Sox have been quite a story this year. We're going to get to know them pretty well with three up there. Then they come to our place and the following week. Your thoughts about this series and Chicago as this division now tightens up. You know, we saw them as spring training, Mike and Bill, and remarked that time, you know, you don't broadcast every spring training game, but they were one of the games that we had. And we remarked that we've got some really good young talent and they looked good and they looked like they were better than they were a year ago. Granted, it's spring training. I think they might be the story of the American League to this point now. They are being challenged maybe for the first time this year with a bad stretch. They've lost five out of six. They got swept in Detroit. They're coming home. You know, it's one thing to be the pursuer. It's another thing to be the team that's being pursued. And this is the first time the young club in Chicago is kind of being looked at differently. Like, you know, guys, last year they improved by 19 games. 19 games and still lost 102. And so for them to go from back to back 100 lost seasons to being over 500, being a game out of first, is remarkable in itself. Do they have the staying power? I think that's what we'll find out. But boy, do they have a future. Get you out here on tonight, you know, it's important to win the series. And good to know we've got Gavin Williams to start with us tonight, right, Tom? Yeah, and he's coming off, you know, a tough outing. And, you know, that really ticked him off the way things went for him in Milwaukee. Tensions are high as the U.S. and Iran begin diplomatic discussions in Switzerland. And British Prime Minister Keir Starmer says he's... And it quits.

Let's talk some flying. Amish expert Jay Ratniff on a couple of things. First of all, we've got some audio. We're going to try and play here as Jay starts on this update this morning. Had a near miss in Boston? Tell me about this. The departing American Airlines flight that had been given takeoff clearance by the air traffic control. Then you had a Delta flight that was coming in preparing to land. They were also given permission to land. And had both of those been allowed to proceed? Bill, there's a very good chance they would have intersected at the exact wrong moment, and we could have had just an absolute catastrophe on her hands. The Delta crews, they're coming into land, notices the aircraft taking off the American Airlines, and they tell the tower they're going to abort their landing and go around. The tower then turns to American crew and says, what are you doing? And they responded, look, you gave us permission to take off. Apparently here it was a mistake by the air traffic controller, and one that at least one of the flight crews noticed, and they were able to divert in time. So, yeah, certainly some anxious moments in Boston, and hats off for the Delta crew for doing exactly what they should have done. A little bit of the exchange here from the cockpits and the air traffic controller about this. One runway two seven, close to take it. Clear for takeout runway 27, America 31. 361. Delta, 313-2. I'm going around because of America. Market 3161, where you go? You cleared for take-all 3161. America, 3161. Contact balls in departure. You know, we play this audio, and I know they're using Vox systems back and forth, and they're using these codes. And it is amazing to me how quick the communication normally is on this stuff, Jay. Well, it's communication, and then they have the readback to make sure they're confirming exactly what they've been told. And it is, it's a very deliberate exchange so that everybody is on the same page. And, you know, there are issues, though, that you said, like you said, if somebody steps on somebody else by two people trying to use. Same frequency at the same time. It can become a problem. But, you know, what we've got to look at, and there'll be an investigation on this one from the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board, is to try to find out if the air traffic control center was staffed, as it should have been. Was this individual working on some serious overtime that needs to be addressed? Because a lot of times they have forced overtime with a shortage of air traffic controller. Yeah, we'll find out what happened, and then they'll take the steps as needed through training and otherwise to try to prevent something like this from happening again. Without a doubt. Carmen's got more about this, but I'm going to go to the White House. The big story, of course, continues to be the talks. We've got Vice President JD Vance over in Switzerland. President Trump spent most of the weekend up at Camp David. Let's bring in White House correspondent John Decker. John, from your understanding, where are we at on this whole thing this morning?

Well, where we're at, we are not at a final agreement. Remember, there are 60 days for both the U.S. and Iran to come to a final peace agreement. We're at an interim stage, and over the weekend, Vice President JD Vance, leading a U.S. delegation meeting with their Iranian counterparts. Do not expect a final agreement to happen right away. I think that that is the caution coming from both sides. What the U.S. wants is for Iran to essentially give up its nuclear ambitions. In addition to that, they want Iran to forswear any possibility in the future of closing down the Strait of Hormuz. That's the leverage that Iran has used against the U.S. and the rest of the world. since this war began in late February. John, we've seen the president on social media in the last 12 hours telling Iran, look, you better agree to something here. Well, that's right. And, you know, that threat coming from the president led Iran to temporarily walk away from the negotiating table over the weekend. So you have a little bit bill of good cop, JD Vance, a bad cop, President Trump, as it relates to negotiations with Iran. And what Iran typically likes to do is just a talk. They negotiate. In fact, the first time they met with JD Vance. was way back on April the 11th, and now they have 60 more days to continue talking. And in the meantime, under the agreement announced last week, Iran can immediately sell its oil worldwide. That means a lot in terms of bringing back a significant amount of revenue into its treasury. John Decker at the White House this morning. John, thanks much. Thank you. You hear John with me. High-level negotiations between the U.S. and Iran are off to a tense start in Switzerland after Tehran condemned President Trump's comments about more attacks if Iran goes back on an interim deal. He also threatened to bomb Iran if its proxies in Lebanon don't stop attacking Israel. Tehran responded by saying Israel's deadly strikes must also stop immediately. Trump further suggested the U.S. could take over the vital straight of Hormuz if a long-term deal. is not reached. Negotiations led by Vice President JD Vance have wrapped up for now, but technical teams will keep working toward a deal all week. A U.S. official says the talks were productive and covered several issues, including ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and maintaining the ceasefire in Lebanon.

Changing of the Guard in Britain is UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announcing he's stepping down. Keir Starmer's support within the ruling Labor Party plummeted following reports that he knew his ambassador to the United States had ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. In remarks this morning, Keir Starmer said he will step aside following an election over the summer. The question my party is asking now is whether I am best placed to lead us into the next general election. I have heard the answer of my parliamentary party to that question. And I accept that answer. With good grace, Keir Starmer has spent two years as Britain's prime minister. Former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan has passed away at the age of 100. The American economist died as a result of complications from Parkinson's disease. His death was announced by his wife of nearly three decades, NBC News correspondent Andrea Mitchell. Greenspan served as chairman for nearly 20 years under President's Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. He was known for what was called Greenspeak. The housing market in the United States is quite heterogeneous, and it does not have the capacity to move excesses easily. He said when he did that, he didn't want to answer a congressman's question, so we made the answer so obtuse the puzzled lawmaker would leave happy. I'm Michael Castner. Fairview Parkman dead this after Lakewood police say he fatally gunned down a man and a woman Sunday morning at a home on Chesterland Avenue. Lakewood Police were called to the house about 4.30 Sunday morning where Amanda Wachud of Lakewood and Richard Easton of Cleveland were discovered dead from gunshot wounds. Lakewood police saw the suspect flee of the home, tried talking to him on Warren Road when he got out of his pickup truck and ultimately turned the gun on himself. As of this morning, it appears the Miami Heat. and the Boston Celtics are the two front runners to acquire Yannis, and the Celtics may be willing to part with Jalen Brown to get it done. Well, tragedy times three in Lakewood as officers there investigate an apparent double murder suicide bill. Diplomatic efforts to end the Iran war will continue this week in Switzerland with leaders of the U.S. U.S. of the Iranian regime and British Prime Minister Kierre Keir Starmer is riding off in the UK's political sunset. Putting over the whole news, the ending of the Iranian nuclear program, all of these things have already been accomplished. The question before us now is how much more can we accomplish together? Can we turn over a new leaf? Can we change relations in the Middle East permanently? Or do we go back to doing things the old way? Which is not our preference, but it's certainly very much something that can't happen. Let's be clear.

I do not support this deal that he made, which was an abject surrender. That's like giving somebody credit for literally an arsonist starting a fire and getting credit for running out of the burning building. This president has led this nation into a disaster. We have surrendered our power. We have capitulated to the enemy. And they now are mocking us. Senator Cory Booker, yes, he's a Democrat, but guess what? There are Republicans that are criticizing President Trump over this deal, including Senator Tom Cotton, Cotton of Arkansas. The Iran deal or no deal, or where are we? Vice President JD Vance, of course, over there talking. Let's bring an ABC News political analyst Steve John Roberts. Steve, from what was announced by the president, he's getting a lot of criticism, even from people in his own party. I mean, Cotton of Arkansas, who's been carrying the flag for years, is questioning what we're doing here. That's true. And the reason is that, look, Donald Trump is clearly acting out of increasing political desperation. And he said it himself. He's been very candid about it. He said that if this war continued, the war he started would lead to an economic catastrophe. The oil supplies would run out in a month. Oil prices, fuel prices paid by voters in Cleveland and everywhere else, very high. Inflation had jumped in May to 4.2%. Even the Federal Reserve, under his new leader, refused to cut interest rates because of the inflationary pressure. And economic catastrophe leads to political catastrophe.

And that's what's really happening here. And Trump cut a deal, the ceasefire deal, in which even Republicans say he gave away an enormous amount. He agreed that Iran could renew sending oil supplies around the world, selling their oil, that have access to frozen accounts around the world, billions of dollars that have been frozen for years. Economic sanctions that crippled their banking system would be lifted. All of these goodies went to Iran. And what did the United States get in return? Virtually nothing. Donald Trump said he wanted regime change in Iran. He didn't get it. He wanted unconditional surrender. He didn't get it. He wanted limits on Iranian missiles and nuclear capability. He didn't get it. And so, as you say, even Senator Cotton says, You know, this was headed in the wrong direction. Bill Cassidy, who has a grievance against Trump because he was defeated in a primary by a Trump candidate, but Bill Cassidy said, these Republicans have said this is the worst diplomatic blunder in years. But the clear situation here, Bill. As that Trump finally understood that politically, this war was a disaster. Latest, the Marist NPR poll, only 33% of Americans approve of Trump's handling of the economy. 60% were negative. Trump knows those numbers as well as anybody, and he desperately wanted to ceasefire to stop the political bleeding. Get you out here on something I heard over the weekend. Senator Lindsey Graham, who's been a long time. He's close to the president, plays a lot of golf with him. He even talks about us, us, the U.S., controlling the straight, charging people to go through it. I don't see how that happens. I mean, this is a typical, you get involved in the Middle East. It's just a quagmire over there in so many ways, Steve. Absolutely, though. I mean, you know, the old saying from the late great Colin Jerome Powell, a pottery barn rule, right? You break it, you own it. And now Trump owns this. So look at this situation. Graham over the weekend said he thought that the talks would fail. That's his words. Well, what can the, suppose these talks fail. What can Trump do then? start the fighting again. You start the fighting again. You drive oil prices up again. You make your political situation that much worse. So he's caught him. It's two quagmire's bill. Yeah. It's the diplomatic quagmire in the Middle East where it's hard to see a solution that everybody can agree to. And it's the political quagmire at home as a result of the what's happening in the Middle East and particularly the impact on inflation and gas prices. Tragedy plays out early Sunday in the city of Lakewood. Police there responding to a home in the 2100 block of Chesterlin Avenue, where they discovered a man and a woman dead from gunshot wounds. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner identifies them as 33-year-old Amanda Wachut of Lakewood and 35-year-old Rich... eastern of Cleveland upon officers arrival. Lakewood police saw a Fairview Park man, they say, fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. A chase ensued when the 45-year-old man ultimately stopped his vehicle along Warren Road. That's when he exited his pickup with a gun to his head and fatally pulled the trigger. His name has not been released. Talks between the United States and Iran will continue in Switzerland this week. A statement from the two countries went on to say discussion Sunday brought encouraging progress, although there were some apparent tensions. More now from Fox News Radio's Jonathan Savage. Vice President JD Vance led the United States contingent in these first talks since an interim peace deal was agreed. The goal is a permanent end to fighting and a solution to the question of Iran's nuclear ambitions. Mediators say encouraging progress was made, but it was not all smooth. smooth sailing. Iranian state media said negotiations were paused after what it called an insulting message from President Trump. The president spoke to Fox News over the weekend and threatened to take over Iran. He posted on social media, we'll hit Iran very hard if the Iranians don't stop proxies causing trouble in Lebanon. Technical level talks will continue through the week. Jonathan Savage, Fox News. Senator Lindsey Graham, meantime, says President Trump would probably take the Strait of Hormuz over by force if the deal is ultimately not ironed out. The South Carolina Republican making the comment on CBS face the nation saying that if Iran contests control of the strait, the U.S. will obliterate them. Graham, with this stern warning for the Iranian regime. To the Iranians, if you're listening, when you use Hezbollah to attack Israel, I think the new policy will be we will attack Iran. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is stepping down. During a press conference today outside 10 Downing Street, Keir Starmer said the Labor Party has made it clear he's not the one to lead moving forward. Every decision I've taken has been about putting the country I love first. That is why I will resign as leader of the Labor Party. Gun violence running rampant in Chicago is at least three dozen people were shot over the weekend in the windy city. More now from ABC's Hanna-Bata. A violent weekend in Chicago, at least 36 people were shot in the city, seven killed. President Trump is renewing his call for military intervention. At least two dozen shootings were reported in the city since Friday night. Shooting incidents in Chicago are slightly up this year. Firefighters continue to work the scene of a massive warehouse plays in Los Angeles that's been burning for days now. flare-ups continue at the site in Boyle Heights where a fire broke out at the cold storage facility Wednesday afternoon. KABC's Monica DeAnda is at the scene with the latest. This warehouse stores about 85 million pounds of food. That is a ton, including meat, poultry, and bread products. That food, well, it's now starting to spoil further complicating the situation on the ground. And once the firefight is over, Only then will crews be able to remove and dispose of thousands of tons of spoiled food. The fire has been sending toxic smoke throughout the area, and Governor Gavin Newsom has now declared a state of emergency. Amazon's Prime Day sales event is almost here. It runs this year from tomorrow through the 26th. It's a little earlier than normal, as the company usually holds Prime Day in July. News Radio W-T-A-M-1100. This is Bill Wells. Federal student loan rules are set to change come the 1st of July. Let's spend some time with Ashley May, Senior Director, Wealth Advisor at Sequoia Financial Group on what you need to know if you're one of the millions of borrowers that you might need to act now for some different options. Hey, Ashley, good morning. Appreciate your time. Good morning, Bill. Okay, let's talk about who first and what's happening July 1st. Tell me about this deadline. Yeah, so July 1st is this looming deadline. And so really to take a step back, these federal loans have been given a lot of options for repayment. So these borrowers have previously historically had a lot of repayment plan options. Come July 1st, a lot of those options are no longer available. So after July 1st, if you're looking to borrow money, a lot of these options are no longer available for you to choose from, as well as for the people who are already borrowing the funds and already in these plans might be forced to make a change. So some of these programs even go by COVID days. You know, the government was trying to adjust and knowing everybody was having trouble. Take me through some repayment options for people that might be looking at this as far as changing what they're doing. Yeah, so after July 1, there's two big repayment plan options going forward. It's a standard repayment plan and the RAP plan, which is based off of your income. So the first one, the standard plan is fixed payments. So it's just a fixed rate based off of your loan balance. And then the repayment assistance plan or the RAP plan is income driven. So it's based off of how much earnings you have. One thing to be aware of about that income driven repayment plan is there's a little bit of a downside. So a lot of these people who have these loans are going into careers, making a lot of income. The RAP repayment plan has no cap, meaning if your income keeps rising throughout your career, you could potentially have a pretty massive student loan payment on a monthly basis. Ashley May is with me talking about changes in the federal student loan rules that will happen on July 1st. Reading up on this, I thought I saw something called a save plan, but you haven't mentioned that so far. I have not, but that is a pretty large plan out there right now. About 7.5 million borrowers are currently in the save plan. And what's happening with the save plan is it's going away. So this is a pretty big one with this July 1st deadline. So everyone in the save plan will receive a 90-day notice requiring these borrowers to choose a new plan. And so if you don't act, you will automatically be enrolled in that standard repayment plan, which as a reminder is based on the loan balance, not your income. So, of course, for some people that might be okay, but for other people who, you know, want to pay a payment based off of their income, they really need to log in before July 1st or within the 90 days and make sure you elect for the plan that you want. Okay. And listen up, parents, parents plus, parent plus, if you've had a couple of these different loans, especially with different sons and daughters, they're going to force you to consolidate those? Yep.

Exactly. So a lot of parent plus loans have already been consolidated, but if not, there's a pretty hard deadline on June 30th to consolidate all into a direct consolidation loan, which. At the end of the day, the biggest thing that's changing with the Parent Plus loan is if you miss the deadline for that June 30th consolidation, you will not have access to income-driven repayment plans. So again, this kind of seems like the theme, but you'll automatically be forced into the standard repayment plan. So if you want that income repayment plan option, I encourage you to log in and kind of check it out and see your options. Get you out here on this on just the bottom line of what we're talking about Owing. And really it might be a little homework for you and the team out there. Bob, maybe we do a little bit in the future as people thinking about college this fall, of course, and planning paying for it. I mean, this is something hopefully every parent started years ago, but it's a huge budget issue, right? Absolutely. I mean, student loans out there in general have been a huge part of the education landscape. At the end of the day, there's so many changes happening to the student loan world in 2026. So bottom line is there were a lot of options. Going forward, there's not as many options, but whether you're a current borrower or a future borrower, You definitely should do your research, figure out what type of loans you have, figure out what are the options moving forward before July 1st.
