Gov. Healey Demands Over $1,000 Refunds For Mass. Residents Over Tariffs

In a letter to the federal government, Governor Morahili is demanding a $1,745 refund for every Massachusetts household. In her letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the governor cites financial harm caused by President Trump's tariffs. The governor says federal data estimates the tariffs cost American consumers about $1,745 per household between February of last year to this January, with over $4.8 billion owed to Massachusetts consumers alone. says, quote, I call on the Trump administration to immediately formulate a plan to refund tariff proceeds and put money back in the pockets of the hardworking people of Massachusetts.
