Powers, our Fox correspondent in New York, as President Trump had a little situation room meeting on Tuesday with all his national security advisors there on the options. Tanya, we came close. President Trump says he was within an hour of striking. Yes. He has said that he, you know, was very close to it. He spoke to some bipartisan lawmakers yesterday at the congressional picnic and was talking about, you know, kind of the same sort of things that we've been hearing for a while from him, that it's going to be finished very quickly, that they won't have a nuclear weapon. He said, and hopefully we're going to get it done in a very nice manner. I don't know that he expounded on what the nice manner part of that was, but he did say these things at the congressional picnic. The notable part about all of this is it comes a few hours after the Senate advanced a war powers resolution that could force him to withdraw the U.S. military from, you know, being their deployment against Iran. Is that ultimately going to go anywhere? It's doubtful. It's doubtful he would actually sign that or anything. But the significant part of this is you have three Republicans who, you know, yesterday's vote was the eighth vote. The seventh vote was where three Republicans joined with the Democrats to vote to approve the measure. to withdraw the U.S. Rand Paul, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski were the three Republican senators. The eighth vote yesterday was the one that there was another Republican that joined them, Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, who got primaried over the weekend. He is in office for several more months, but he has now joined with the other Republicans in this, which I find interesting as far as a framework to see what happens over the next few months. Yesterday, of course, another Republican. Thomas Matthew lost his primary election. He had gotten on the wrong side of the president. So I think it's going to be interesting to watch and see what the Republicans who are getting voted out in primaries from, you know, in favor of the Trump-backed candidate.

what they're going to do over the next several months. I think that's something to keep an eye on. You know, it's interesting to see some of these people that are on the side with the Democrats, these four Republicans you mentioned there. And Bill Cassidy in Louisiana, I mean, he's getting his last swings in before he's done. And we had three Republicans that did not vote. They were out of town, Senator John Cornyn and our senator, Tommy Tuberville, along with Thom Tillis. But, you know, as you said, will this go anywhere? Probably not. I mean, it's got to pass, you know. First of all, the full Senate gets to vote on this, and then it's got to go to the House, which may not. Even if it gets to the president's desk, he has the power to veto to this whole thing. And as far as the decision to go or not go against Iran, he pulled back at the last minute here once again, and I think he's trying to exercise every bit of diplomacy he's got. But you see the reaction from these crazies and the Islamic regime in Iran. They're basically calling this, you know, a holy war. So with that in mind, you know, there's no budget. I don't think they're talking about any type of peace deal or anything about compromise whatsoever. I would imagine the president's going to be going here. We may see something over Memorial Day weekend. I'm not sure if he'll go during the holiday weekend, but. I don't think the president's got much more patience. What are you reading when you talk to different folks about how long you may think this may go before the president does actually pull the trigger? I don't think anybody can honestly say.
