Welcome back, friends, Mark Airman crew with you till noon. Coming up in 30 minutes, Deborah's got tickets to give away to see Journey, their final concert tour. Your chance to win those tickets coming up in 30 minutes, still to come. Great Britain, England, Prime Minister, the Prime Minister of... England? United Kingdom. United Kingdom. There's going to be a new one. That's a big developing story. The very latest on the Iran negotiations going on at Lake Lucerne, not in Littleburn, but in Switzerland. Right now, though, I want to focus on the World Cup. Joining us from New York City, Natalie Migliore. Natalie, much like Atlanta, New York is the host for a World Cup series of matches. It's been wildly successful thus far here in Atlanta. What about New York City? What's been the reaction, the feedback? How's it going? overall with the World Cup in the Northeast? You know, I think that the folks who live here in New Yorkers and New Jerseyans, I don't think they really even realize it's going on unless it truly impacts their commute. And that is really for train riders. Or if they're a soccer fan, right? Like if they love soccer and they want to go to a match, these are people who are paying attention to it. Now, the people who are in New York, who are visiting us for the World Cup, they seem... to love it. And they seem thrilled just to be in New York. Some people even just landing in New York and then going to the World Cup matches in other cities, maybe even Atlanta or Boston or Miami. So that's definitely been the case of the people I've been talking to from the World Cup. Does it impact the fact that the World Cup matches in New York are actually not played in New York? They're played in New Jersey. Does that take away some of the fun or excitement, I guess? You know, a lot of these other cities outside of New York, people can actually walk to the stadium, right? And so when we talk about MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, it's not walkable. In fact, months before people were talking about train ticket prices and talking about walking, and officials were like, don't do that. There are highways here, right? So. That has sort of taken out this, I think it has sort of removed people from the excitement. We do have these fan fest and these so-called activations for people, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the excitement is fully here in New York. It is here, and people are here, but they've got to find their way over to MetLife if they're actually here for the matches. And I would imagine New York is still on a high of the Knicks winning the NBA title, right? That is still front of mind for native New Yorkers. Now, you mentioned?

3:18

to the hiccups when we were leaving our hotel from New York last Tuesday, the authorities had shut down 42nd Street for some reason because of the World Cup. So we had a detour. Is that really the biggest drawback or is it maybe the high ticket prices that New Yorkers are pushing back on? I think that it's more of, you know, if you're impacted by it, right? So 42nd Street is a major main vein for bus routes. So they were only allowing, and this is going to be the same case today because we have a match in the evening and this will impact the evening commute. Bus routes and NJ Transit trains are dedicated to World Cup ticket holders at certain points in the day so people could get to and from MetLife Stadium. So I think New Yorkers who aren't trying to buy match tickets, that's who is impacting. Now, World Cup fans who want to go to matches, they were offered lottery-like tickets where they could enter lotteries and try to get discounted tickets. That was a big draw for New Yorkers who couldn't necessarily afford a category one seat close to the pitch. But so there are pros and cons on both sides of it, I'll say. Well, end of the day. Nick still have a title. I'm wearing my Nick t-shirt celebrating that. Natalie, great stuff as always, my friend. Have a good day. Thank you. You too. Natalie Migliori in New York City. If I were a foreigner. Coming to the World Cup. So who's playing in, we were in New York. Who was playing in New York? It was France and Senegal. All right. So let's say I'm, make it easy. I'm French. I'm not Senegalian. And I want to see my team. And I'm like, oh, they're playing in New York. And you fly in New York and you're like this. Oh, wait, the game's in New Jersey? The matches in New Jersey? That's a pain in the ass. It is confusing to a lot of people. So one of the things I heard is your country's really big. Like, you know, compared to the European countries, which are big countries too, but not when you look at the scale of the United States. And sometimes those stadiums are literally like would be in our backyard. You could see the stadium so close. They're not so far and so big. That would annoy me if I was a French fan. And I was like, oh, you know, I'm not going to do a French accent. World Cup in New York. That was mostly Italian. Anyway, you know, I'm going to spend $800 a night on a hotel in New York City. And then you've got to take a bus or a train to freaking New Jersey to the Meadowlands. I think Paris is just as big, though. You know, if you're from Paris, you're traveling to those stadiums. The beauty about the Atlanta World Cup is it's in the city. But I think she's right. She's like New Yorkers, as long as it's not impacting their commute, they don't care. I think that can be said the same here. Like people in Buford. that aren't soccer fans or sports fans, they don't know. They're like, oh, World Cup. Yeah, oh, it's all the way down. Does it impact me at all? Now, in case you're just joining us, Deborah came up with a World Cup ticket hack this Sunday. She got free tickets at church. It was not a hack. I told you it was divine intervention. Or a hack, a divine hack. Deborah went to church, met some Spanish fans.

6:22

from Spain. They went to church, praying for their team, praying for it. I love that. And one of the ladies was like, I'd rather go shopping, Deborah. You can have my ticket. Yeah, she was very nice about it. I was very lucky. I just randomly sat down next to these people for coffee and donuts. And I ended up going to a match. So like I said, it's divine intervention. Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, Lord. Yeah, it was phenomenal. And I believe, of course, I can't find it now. Dagnamet, we had audio of you asking for the tickets. Did I delete that? Probably not the right audio, but I think I know what you're talking about. Dagnamet, I actually deleted that. The Deborah audio. All right, so. I'm starting to get FOMO now. I'm very happy that you got to go. I haven't done anything yet. But we have a lot of time, right? What are the next matches here? So the next match is Wednesday. It is Morocco versus Haiti, which I told Vinny he should go check out. I think he'd like that. And then Saturday is the Congo versus Uzbekistan. Those are the next two. And then after that, you have to find out who wins to find out the next matches. Interesting. All right. So I haven't partaken in anything, but I have been enjoying on social media. foreign visitors coming to the United States and enjoying the bountiful food that we have. In Boston, there's a Scottish guy that's going and checking out of the lobster rolls and clam chowders. There's a Japanese dude in Texas that is sampling all the barbecue. I can't play that audio because he actually swears. There was a guy in Texas, too. I think they're from Italy who was amazed at the free refills. He's like, oh, my God. And he just kept getting free refills. And the guy's like, you're going to be sick. He's like, I don't care. It's free. And he just kept drinking free refills. The best one was the Japanese couple that went to a Mexican restaurant and they got chips and salsa. And they were like, these are undeserved. Like, we don't deserve these. We, like, we haven't paid yet. You know, they freak out. So there's another guy. I think he's in. in Georgia. He's from Australia. And he's been hitting up all of the local haunts. He went to Texas Longhorn. He went to Waffle House. And he just took his kid to one of our favorite places, the Golden Corral. In America, they've got this restaurant called the Golden Corral. It's like a bit more posh than, a bit more fancy than like your normal American restaurant, like Popeyes or something. I was there with my kid, we went there. It was unbelievable. I wasn't sure exactly what you get. I was talking to an American in the line and I go, like, what's the buffets or like mostly salad? Do you have to buy a meal to go with the buffet? And he's an American guy and he's like, baby, this is the South, okay? If this buffet was mostly salad, it'd already be out of business. Anyway, he was right. It was like prawns. There was this guy doing a barbecue with steaks. He could just keep going back as many as you want. He's like, how do you want it, medium rare? It's like an inch thick steak.

9:22

They got this special sauce there that's like their own sauce, which is, it's hard to describe. It's like a vinegarish barbecue sauce. And there's a waiter, even though it's like a buffet, you still have a guy come and clear your plates all the time, refills your drinks nonstop, the American way. And then as I'm going, he goes, do you want a cup to go? And I hadn't heard this yet in America. But what they also do? is they'll fill you up another Coke that you can walk out of the restaurant with. So you can just go home and just drink Coke on the way home. So unlimited refills while you're in there, and they push another Coke onto you on the way out. They're like drug dealers, but instead of pushing cocaine, they're pushing just pure happiness. It's just such a happy place to be, like... You just with all these people, there's kids at the dessert bar, just get as much ice cream as I want. This is the best. And it's like 20 bucks or something. I absolutely love that. And no matter where the foreigners are. coming to the United States for the World Cup, none of them can get over the free refill thing. Like, that is mind-blowing to them. It's free? Oh, my God. And there's ice in it? Like, you don't have to ask for ice. It's not room temperature. It just comes with ice. I saw one. It was an Italian, two dudes from Italy, and the guy drank seven Cokes before the meal came. Because he could. Yeah. They're like, he's like, his buddy's like, slow down, man. He's like, why? It's free Coke. Like, we are spoiled in a lot of ways. It reminds me, I pitched my buddy Ted is in reality show business. And 15 years ago, when reality shows were really popping, I pitched him a show, Vinnie, the show was called All You Can Ethiopians, where you take people from Ethiopia and you bring them to like a Vegas buffet. And my buddy Ted was like, that's a brilliant idea, but that will never get made. That'll never get made. But I was on the right track, like people coming to a buffet in America from countries where free refills and chips and salsa and it's on her, I knew that would, because it's so entertaining to watch these foreigners at Texas Roadhouse, Waffle House. It's, yeah, we're doing, we're doing great. All these, and I'm sure you've seen it on your social media, Deborah. People were like, we were worried to come to America because we didn't know what he's like, but everyone's like everyone is so nice and it is just. So lovely here. So that was something that I heard, like, they were a little nervous about the political climate. Oh, yeah, the people he met from Spain. Nobody's ever said anything about politics since we've been here. He's like, everyone's been really cool. Everyone's, like, asking us if we need help getting here for there. He's like, they haven't really even had language problems because, you know, not everybody can speak multiple languages. He's like, it's is way better than we were imagining. Yeah, we are doing so well as a host continent.

12:15

I haven't seen much from Canada or Mexico. Yeah. But United States. So is it, it's Kansas City, New York. Denver, Seattle, L.A., New York. Is Miami hosting some probably? Orlando? Philly. All the major big cities throughout the country. But brave reviews. Yeah. So keep up the world. The southern, it's, you know, we expect. Excuse me. Just keep giving him food. We expect it here at Southern hospitality. But everywhere on the country, the tourists are just. raving about everything about America. So it makes you feel good. Like, oh, yeah, everything, you know, everything's bad. No, and not everything's bad. We get free refills, which is unheard of in a lot of ranch dressing. And, oh, yeah, give me that ranch dressing update. So last week we told you about foreigners are in love with ranch dressing and they want to take it back with them. But the TSA is like, hold up. You can't. carry-on ranch dressing. I give all credit to Kraft. Yeah, good job, Kraft. Quickly getting this turned around. You can't take a bottle of ranch dressing, right? You'd have to check it in your luggage, but people don't want to check it in their luggage. So Kraft has made a TSA-friendly ranch kit. They're basically small versions of it, like those to go catch-ups almost, yeah. And they're big enough to comply with a TSA, and they put a whole bunch of them together so that they can get through TSA and people can take them in their carry-on. That craft deserves a raise. Yeah, they get a bonus for that. That's the tradition. like the number one ranch, craft ranch, buttermilk? I don't know either. Do you know, Vinnie? You prefer ranch over blue cheese. I prefer ranch. Hidden Valley. That's a big one. Is that a craft product? I don't know. That's a good question. But if you don't mind me asking Deborah, do you know, so again, Debra was gifted, Divide Intervention, got a ticket to a World Cup match at church. That's a story you're going to tell generations. Do you know how much that ticket cost? Did you have any idea? What the... I didn't... Well, they were on his phone, so I didn't see... I should have asked. I didn't ask. They just told me they'd spent a lot of money with tickets and hotel. I'm so happy for you. Yeah. Like I said, I bought all their food for them and that was under $100. Yeah. That was worth it. I do hate that you didn't get a physical ticket. I know, right. Are you a ticket hoard like I am where you just hoard, by the way, hoard, not. Every paper ticket that I had from a concert. You keep it. I have them still. Yeah, me too. Now everything is digital or we just have yes list so we don't get in. But I still have all my old paper tickets. I've got a cigar box full of old concert tickets and sporting event tickets. I just miss that. Yeah, because you can pick it up and look at it. And I remember who I was with, what day it was, what we drove it. Yeah. Well, you don't need it. You'll remember this forever. Yeah, it was a great experience. Just go down to the fan fest, even if you guys don't want to go to a game. Go to the fan fest. We got to go to the. food truck alleys. 1126 on the Mark Am show on this date in 1969. Actress singer Judy Garland, who you're listening to right here, passed away at the age of 47. 47. She is the mother of Liza Minnelli. Also in 1987 on this date, actor, singer, dancer. Fred Astaire passed away at the age of 88. What happened to Judy Garland? Was it there something fishy? I don't have to go back and look. I didn't realize she was that young. Yeah, 47 years young. Judy Garland passed away on this date in 1969. When we come back, finally have some finger pointing. We've got an official report on that tragedy that happened at Camp Mystic. We are going to update the Iran negotiations. And Deborah's got a pair of tickets to give away to see Journey. Straight ahead on the Mark Air Show.

15:47

1137 on this Monday edition of the Mark Aram show right now, a chance to win a pair of tickets to see this band for their final tour. I could be a, no, God, be such a bad FM DJ, Deborah. I don't know how you do it. I don't know how you do it. I just can't tie them anyway. I don't hit the pose. Anyway, we have tickets to see Journey, their final tour. And not only will you win a pair of tickets see Journey, but you're also entered to win what? All right, so Journey, final frontier tour, the last tour ever for this version of Journey. Dear listeners of the Mark Aram Show, 95-5 WSP. All right, let's do the ninth caller to Brooke. Caller number nine to 404-872-0-750. Caller number nine to 404-872-0. Stepped over the lyrics. wins a pair of tixie journey and a chance to win my VIP tickets. Some breaking news we're covering. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation. I just saw this pop up that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is heading to the Mideast. That makes me feel good when Marco Rubio's at any table discussing anything. So we'll get you cut off today in that in just a second. Right now, though, joining us from ABC News, our good buddy, Jim Ryan. Jim, good morning. It's hard to imagine. It's been almost a year. since the tragedy at Camp Mystic in Texas. State and Pointing investigators have released their final report on the disaster at that summer camp. 115 page document. What, if anything, did we learn about this disaster? Well, that there was a lack of preparation that really the disaster at Camp Mystic came long before July 4th of last year mark. That procedures were not in place, that evacuation plans were not posted anywhere that the campers could see. There was no communication, no radio communication, even between the camps operators and the camp counselors and the campers themselves. So it all balled together, this cascade of failures that eventually led to the disaster at Camp Mystic. Of course, it was a regional disaster. More than 130 people were killed altogether. other 27 of them at Camp Mystic. Did the investigators in this report lay blame at the feet of certain individuals or just the camp in general? I think the camp in general, really the leadership of the camp that apparently had kind of gotten complacent. Although that area is known as flash flood alley Marco Rubio lot of folks just assumed that, okay, yeah, we get a lot of rain here, we get some flooding, but nothing too disastrous. And so... When it started to happen again on July 4th of last year, it seemed that nobody really took it seriously. None of the camp operators. They knew that the flash flood was coming, that it was possible. They saw the water rising up but waited about two hours to order the evacuation of the campers from their individual cabins. That lack of an order came from Dick Eastland, the owner of Camp Mystic. He too died in the flooding that day mark. You know, I know hindsight is 20-20, Jim, but after this tragedy, just looking at the layout of...

18:57

of where the kids' cabins were. And a couple were right there on that riverbank, which is a known flood zone. That stood out to me as like, well, how could you even put cabins so close to the riverbank when you know there's a chance of flooding? Right. And going forward, that's not likely to happen. New state regulations are in place to keep cabins from being built that close to a riverbank, especially the Guadalupe River, which does tend to flood. The other requirements will go up place. The state is making available funds. siren system. There were no physical sirens there in that section of the hill country going into that flooding. So even if there were evacuation orders, even if a flash flood came, there was really no way to get the word out. You mentioned going forward. I was stunned it. Maybe it's about two months ago, Jim, we saw the story that Camp Mystic was taking new enrollees for this summer, and I couldn't believe they were going to reopen. They since backed up on that, right? The camp isn't going to be open this summer. Yeah, you're right. I think a lot of people around Texas and elsewhere also couldn't. believe it and the public outcry that led the leadership at camp mystic to say you know what we're not going to reopen it all this summer the plan initially was to reopen a section of camp mystic which is about a quarter mile away from where the flooding happened last year and which has been safe from that kind of flash flooding in the past but now none of it none of camp mystic is going to open this summer 25 children dead jim i hate to even ask this question but i would imagine there's there's going to be or if not already some sort of litigation from the families that lost all those kids. Yes. Lawsuits have been filed on the part of many of those families, including the family of the one child who is still missing. Nearly a year after the flooding that happened there, one victim, one of the one of the 39 people who died still has not been found. And the parents of that child, yes, they have filed suit. Jim Ryan, ABC News, Texas. Jim, great update and a very tragic story. Thanks so much for your time, buddy. Sure, Mark. 1742 on the mark here. I'm show. Shout out to Randy in Blue Ridge, Georgia. That's God's country. Randy won a pair of tickets, maybe my tickets to see Journey. What is it, October 19th at State Farm? October 19, State Fire Marina. All right. I'm not going to talk about that. There was an update, alleged update on the Taylor Swift, Kelsey wedding and the venue. This coming weekend, right? No, no. I don't know when it, but they're happening at Madison Square Garden. Allegedly. Which seems like a lot. I'm not even going to say. I think that's the reception, not the wedding. Oh, the actual. The nuptial. Where's Amanda when you need her? She's the one that knows. Updating the Iran negotiations again in Lake Lucerne. Switzerland, not Lilburn this morning, Vice President. The final deal is the house. We set the foundation. We haven't built the house, but we've laid a successful foundation to get to a good place for the American people. 60-day negotiating window. Comparing this to the previous JCPA Obama-Iran deal, CNN International Correspondent Christian Amunpore. Well, on this particular issue, no. And actually, the IAEA inspectors had been in Iran, basically since the JCPOA, pretty much all the time, you know, on their schedules, until the war.

22:04

you know the the 12-day war a year ago iran started restricting their access and then of course since this war that started the end of february they have not been there so it's again a return to the status quo ante but it's very important particularly because right now there's some confusion about where is this enriched uranium what if anything, of Iran's nuclear abilities, has survived these several waves of bombings, whether it was in the February war or in the previous one last year in June. And particularly, where are these 12 tons of highly enriched and less highly enriched uranium? So that is going to be super important because it lay the benchmark for how they actually come to a negotiation about resolving the nuclear issue. between the two countries. But don't forget, right now, the nuclear issue in terms of Iran's power, its geostrategic power, is somewhat less important than its economic leverage that it has over the Strait of Homo, which has been demonstrated since February 28th, since this war started, and that has brought Iran. into a really whole different reality of being able to leverage its power and its policy vis-a-vis the rest of the world. That is actually a great point. They don't even need a nuclear weapon anymore. They have this financial power that is the Strait of Hormuz, Christian Amapur. I didn't know that inspectors were in Iran, the nuclear inspectors were in Iran until 2025. And that's when Iran kicked him out. They were here, they were there the whole time. Did not know that. Interesting stuff. In case you are just joining as UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, announced he's resigning. The question my party is asking now is whether I am best placed to lead us into the next general election. Apparently, he is going to stay on board until September. But it's like their 5th PM in the last six years. Staying across the pond, Charles III' personal tax bill. I'm very curious about this, Deborah. What is the king getting taxed for? What's his final tax bill? Well, he is going to reveal his personal tax bill. Now, he doesn't have to. There's no law that states that a royal has to do this, but he's just trying to be transparent with the money that he gets for her has to pay in for taxes. Let's see. I'm surprised Royals have to pay taxes, to be honest. On certain things. They don't, actually, you don't have to. They volunteer to. So he volunteers because he's got money coming in from properties and, you know, the crown gives them so much a lot. So he hasn't revealed it yet, but he will and he's just trying to be more transparent. Because sometimes the royals aren't looked at as, especially Charles hasn't been as loved as much as his mom. Well, and the whole former Prince Andrew. And that's actually why one of the reasons Keir Starmer had to resign because he nominated that ambassador that had Epstein ties. And yeah, anyway, there you go. You're caught up to date on all your British news.

25:14

1153 on the Mark Aram Show, sad, breaking news in the music world. We have just lost a legend at the age of 94. Clive Davis, legendary musical producer signed Whitney Houston. Billy Joel has passed away at the age of 94. Also worked with B-Manelow. Barry Manilow, Aerosmith, Janice Joplin, Biggie. I mean, he's worked with everybody. Yeah, remarkable career. 94 years old, Clive Davis. produce this song, but we're going to stop hearing that song because I want to play this song that I was supposed to play. I mentioned how bad the theme song was to the Bionic Woman. Let's try to cleanse our palate. Maybe not. This is the theme song to Chico and the Man. Do you remember that show, Deborah? Definitely not. I've heard the name. I don't think I've ever seen an episode. It starred. The amazingly talented Freddie Prince. He was born on this date in 1954. He died in 1977. He was 23. Yeah, you know there was some controversy on like the way he died. No, let me hear this a little more. Chico, I do remember the show. So his kid was Freddie Prince Jr. Yeah, I know Freddie Prince Jr. very well. What was the controversy? He was supposedly playing with a gun that went off and there was some like choking about it and, you know, was it an accident? Was it not an accident? Oh, all right. Rest in peace, Freddie Pence, Sr. Junior's still. Junior's still alive. He's married to Sarah Michelle Geller. Yeah, that's right. Okay. Checking the market's good news right now. He says question. Yeah, the Dow's up, 150 NASDAX down 292. Don't understand that at all. Oil is down 2.7. 4%. Speaking of oil, gas prices are dropping, dropping and dropping. What can he tell us at Allison Kosick? Despite all the uncertainties surrounding the talks, gas prices here at home are dropping, down nearly 14 cents per gallon in the last week. And diesel prices have now fallen below $5 for the first time since March. Analysts predict that downward trend will continue. That is great news. So oil prices down 2.7. The Texas crude is now under $75 a barrel. And we're back in that sweet spot. The Billy Bob Thornton sweepside. What is that show coming back? Not until next year. For real? I know. We talked to Cooper. He said they hadn't even started filming. That's right. The agency's back for their second season. Did you watch the first season? Yeah. I haven't watched the agency. I'm excited. I was busy this weekend. I'm going to watch it today before my nap with Soba. you know because of the Mark Aram Show. Two weeks after completing this $16 million renovation, President Trump says it will now have to be drained and repaired to fix the peeling paint and also that algae bloom. Peter Haralambos from ABC News updating the reflecting pool. Most famous pool before this, I said the grotto. Apparently, listeners said Tajmish Hall. There's a pool at the Taj Mahal.

28:23

But I don't know. The fast times at Ridgemont Highpool has got to be up there as well. Now you know. There's a specific language in the memorandum of understanding that the United States will not manage the money that Iran decides to spend. Eric Erickson joined us reacting to the ongoing negotiations with Iran. The question that Eric and I have is what is Iran going to do with the funds that they just got? So if in case you're just joining us, a lot of their funds have been on frozen and we have lifted the embargo of Iranian oil. So that's billions of dollars that it's going to flow into the Iranian regime. And there's nothing in the memorandum of understanding that prevents them from sending that cash to Hezbollah, Hamas, or the Houthis. Now you know. It looked like things could tank quickly. Iran was threatening to close the straight-of-four moves again. And then in response to that, President Trump threatening to, you know, bomb the blank out of Iran if they closed the straight-of-four moves again. That's Joe Kulia from News Nation. Join us live in D.C. with the ongoing negotiations in President Trump's threats this weekend. Now you know, because of the Mark Aram show.

29:39

Are you guys ready for the Mark Aram star of the show? Oh, Vinny, you were pitching a perfect game, bro. I don't remember him saying anything. Perfect game until the very end. I just wanted to play the Chico and the man rejoin. Sadly, Vin, no. But I'll tell you what, your dad's winning a star of the show. Debra's dad's winning a star of the show and my dad's winning star of the show. Happy Bladed Father's Day. And Brooks' dad, I don't want to assume. Yeah? Brooke's got to dad. Okay, Brooke, your dad can start the show. I don't know. She could be a test tube baby for all. I have no idea. I barely know, Brooke. We need to break bread so I can learn more about you.
