You know, I'll run this town to be near you. I stand alone. Shelly Winter Show, I'm sorry, Shelley Winter in for Mark Aram. It's the Mark Aram Show, not the Shelley Winter Show. I'm on at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. I'm only filling in today. Mark will be back tomorrow and on the phone with me. He usually joins me on Fridays, but he is on the phone with me tonight to talk about Trump speech last night. Mr. Bill Crane, Shelley Winter Show political analysts. And... I'm just kidding. Also, the political analyst for the Mark Aram show. Hey, Bill, how are you, my friend? I am well, Shelly. It's been so long since we've gone. Absolutely. Last night, about eight hours ago. Absolutely, absolutely. But different audience, different audience. None of them heard you last night. But Bill, tell us what did you think about the speech last night? It was a mishmash of – I like the fact that it was brief. It was a mishmash of the kind of complaint greatest hits of the Biden administration leaving the economy and everything else in a shambles. The president rebuilt the economy. The president rebuilt our military kind of at the beginning of the speech trumpeting some recent accomplishments, the new Trump savings account, the new Trump RX program that's going to reduce pharmaceutical costs and has reduced the cost of some generic drugs. And then it was a trip down memory lane revisiting the 2020 presidential election with the new twist of documents that I've now had a chance to review that were released by the White House, about 250 pages, about 50 pages worth of that redacted, laying out allegations that China has... hacked and has the voting records and voter rolls of 220 million Americans that 18 states were particularly impacted, though the states were not identified. Oh, yeah. And they were later. They weren't in the speech. They weren't in the speech. Yeah, yeah. And that more would be to come. But net net was we don't have safe and fair elections and we won't have them until we pass the SAVE Act making really the speech sort of a. 20 plus minute commercial for a piece of legislation, the SAVE Act, which is pending in both the Senate and the U.S. House. We're on the phone with political and analysts, Bill Crane. Bill, I just had Senator Jon Ossoff on, and he said that he had spoken to some several elected officials, Republican elected officials in Georgia who are distraught. over the speech. What do you think of that statement the senator made? I believe him, but I want to hear what you think. Well, obviously, Jon Ossoff has a re-election in front of him to be focused on, and he, I'm sure, has friends on both sides of the aisle. And I don't know too many Republicans that aren't hardcore MAGA that liked the remarks last night, much less just the focus. And we didn't hear anything.

about the war with Iraq. We didn't hear anything about how we're going to get the Straits of Hormuz permanently reopened and energy prices to come down, food prices to come down. We heard about, you know, we have the strongest economy in the history of our nation, as strong the stock market, and more employment, some things that are not necessarily valid. And then these charges about China, I would point out, because I've worked in elections and worked in the Secretary of State's office for five years. voter registration records, in other words, you and I being registered, where our address is, and then which elections we vote in, those are public records. Those are not hidden. Those are not, you don't need to hack them. You can buy them. That's how parties build databases. Hold on, Bill. Can you say that again? You could buy them? Yes. Because that's how people know to knock on my door as opposed to my neighbor's door because they know I voted in the last election and I voted Republicans, so the Republicans will knock on my door and say, hey, Mr. Winter, you're going to vote, right? And that's why you get the direct mail you get, yes. So they buy this information. Go ahead. I'm sorry. It's not expensive, but the reason it's a minimal cost to copy it and produce it. But because taxpayer money are involved in registering people, you know. jury rolls come off of voter rhetoric. Now, but the difference is the distinction, and the president used both words. A voter registration list is not a voter rule. The voter role has your driver's license number, your social security number, other information you may have chosen to disclose about your voting history to the state, not necessarily that they ask for, but it's in there. And those are not in a central database by the federal government and have not been centrally controlled by the federal government until. January of 2025, the president issued an executive order demanding that all 50 states, as well as the five protectorates and Commonwealth, give their current voter registration rules to that paragon of efficiency and security, the U.S. Postal Service. So they can cross-reference in the 2026 midterms absentee ballots and absentee ballot applications, and I would point out, although that's got multiple court challenges. depending right now, our U.S. Postal Service is not an investigative or law enforcement agency. They deliver mail and parcels. And I don't even think that was appropriate to expect them to hold that secured list. But let's say everything the president said was true. I'm just going to for a moment live in that twilight zone. All of it was true. Why would China have stopped? With trying to attempt to sway the 2020 election, if they didn't like Donald Trump, why wouldn't they have continued to go after Republicans in the 22 midterms? And in the 2024 contest, why wouldn't they have tried to prop up Joe Biden? Pretty easy to make him a puppet. Or elected Kamala Harris. Why would they have just focused?

on the contest between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in 2020. That makes no sense. So let me tell you what I've heard because I've said that I feel the same way you do. I, a thousand percent agree with you. What I've heard back from people, and I heard it last night from several callers, and I want to get your thoughts on it, they're saying they got caught cheating after 2020 so they didn't want to do it again. Would you respond to that? Okay, if they got caught cheating after 2020, why have we not heard about that for six years? And if China is somehow so intimidated by us knowing that they're, you know, trying to manipulate our government, I mean, we're still engaged in supporting Taiwan, which according to China and one China policy is part of their country. We replaced the president. of Venezuela in the last year. We are in midst of trying to force regime change in Iran. I'm not saying those are bad things, and they are in the interest of our U.S. foreign policy as well as our national security. But we, the United States, engage in attempting to support or not support or oppose or in some cases remove foreign actors who we don't believe are supportive of us. All the time. On several continents. We've done it throughout Africa since the 60s. We could spend the rest of this show just talking about Latin America. Right. The continent of Africa in the 60s and 70s, this continent of South America and its 60s and 70s. So like you said, we could talk about that all night long. You talked earlier about voter rolls versus voter registrations. On the voter roll side, right, Was there anything in the 250 pages that you've perused and looked at that says of the, I'm sorry, the 278,000 illegal registered for federal elections, legal citizens, non-citizens who are registered about them voting? They are using the data. It's not in the document, but I've spent some time on this last night and this morning. The homeland security has a software that they have used to attempt to flag or determine. status of illegal aliens that have, unfortunately, in multiple cases, flag citizens, and that two different judges have said, this is a faulty instrument, you can't use it. But that is where the 278 number comes from. Other entities, nonpartisan and partisan, that have audited multiple offices of Secretary of State, including the Georgia Secretary of State, and Georgia has a law that makes it illegal for non-citizens to vote, have found the number for Georgia. in the last several election cycles to be closer to three, the number three, non-citizens voting. And even if, again, let's accept it as truth. In fact, 220,000 out of 220 million is how many? It is 0.01%. Not suggesting anyone illegal voting is a good thing. Right. But I'm saying if you think the system is faulty or, you know, it's a crisis or it's going to collapse under its own weight. 220 million Americans, $2.2.2 million would be 1%. Right. Right. 220,000 is a tenth of 1%. We talked earlier. I said the same thing you did in the opening to the show. I said...

Because I don't think he could back up what he said. But the other thing I'd really hate to be today is I would hate to be U.S. ambassador to China, David Perdue, who lost that seat earlier to Jon Ossoff, who's got a deal with the Chinese government, who I'm sure is not real happy about what was laid out last night, particularly if, again, they can't document and back up what they said. Shelly Winter, in for Mark Aram. He'll be back on Monday. Before I get into my experience at the World Cup, semifinal and everything going on this weekend, before I get to that, I got to say this. Okay, so I am one to bring food a lot. Last time I had, was Thanksgiving, we had a bunch of food out here for Thanksgiving for my, for, I'm on, my name is Shelly Winch. I'm on Monday through Friday 7 to 9 p.m. A couple weeks ago, we did election night coverage and I brought food in and it's big, big, big setup. Wait, do you not get election night pizza anymore? Is that not a thing anymore? That's not a thing. That's not a thing anymore. So, so, or I was told I got a text. This morning, about 7.30 from Chris Chandler, the great host of Atlanta's morning news. And he said, the Friday person who's on air has to bring in donuts. And I know Mark. Well, all those people were here Friday. Right. So I know Mark brings in donuts. And I try and I replicate Mark. So that's why I bring food in for my people in the evenings and stuff. I brought pizza from Costco, sat it out there. And everyone's taking advantage of it. But it's interesting because it's the worker bees. who are always bringing in the food. The people with the least amount. But we're the work. We're the proletariat. We're the, you know, we're the low end of the class structure here. So just now, I bring this up, not to tell myself or mark or anything, I bring this up because Trent, who produces my show a lot of times, he brought pizza pie in. For us close to lunchtime hit perfectly. Yeah, you guys were enjoying that. Absolutely. Just great. Vinnie, I had to text Vinnie because I forgot the whole donut thing because I'm filling in for Mark. I text Vinny and Vinny brought in two dozen donuts from Dunkin' Donuts. I'll set and sell you that in a second. But it's interesting to me because it's us. And I'm wondering. And I love my coworkers. I really do. This is just Shelly being Shelly for a second. But I love you all. And you know I love you. But for those of you who ask for these things, bring them in sometimes. It does seem like this. Like if you're going to ask, hey, where's this? Hey, where's this? Every now and then, be the person that brings it in. I will say there are maybe like four or five people that bring in stuff regularly. And there are like 20 people that never offer. Never. Never offer. But they love. to be the first people to grab. It's just, it's just, it's just, it's, I understand it, I get it, but you know, every now and then, it's okay. Now, we'll say this about Atlanta's morning news host, Chris Chandler. I got from him a box from when the had the weather shut down when everyone worked and stayed over the weekend and everything when the bad weather came. He had a whole bunch of like snacks. And so I got a bunch of that. It's in my drawer right now. So I will say nothing bad about Chris Chandler and food. This is your drawer. Yeah, yeah. What was that? Should I not have said that? No, this is healthy stuff. You know, like ramen noodles, things like that. Healthy? Yeah.

Raman noodles are healthy? Yeah, all that salt is cold. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Ramen noodles are not healthy, but foe is. So let's go. I want to talk about my experience at World Cup, ladies and gentlemen, really quickly. I just take a bear with me for a second. So I went down to Fan Fest on Wednesday, right? The semi-final game was Wednesday between England and Argentina. And I've got to tell you, my experience down there. First, let me tell you about getting there. Getting there was the easiest. thing ever was traffic. Marta? I drove because I had to come to work afterwards, right? But getting there was easy. Marta would talk about Marta in just a second. But was there traffic? Of course it was traffic. But the cops, the police officers, they had it moving very smoothly. So that was the first thing. Then the people, not the visitors, right? The people, the volunteers at FIFA. They're all, they have big shirts, yellow shirts that said volunteers, the nicest people you'll ever want to meet. The employees who are working the different areas, the security guards, the police officers, the firefighters who are there for emergency services, the state troopers who are at the entrances, you know, doing the scans and everything. Every single person smile on their face. Smile on their face. No anger, no, what you're doing here, nothing like that. It was the, the nicest group of city employees or city workers or people that I've ever seen working in event, even the volunteers. And now the crowd, crowds of thousands of tens of thousands of people. I saw the AJC had posted a little video of a fight between some young men. I saw those young men. They hit one guy. It was nothing. Tens of thousands of people out there, and you're going to show a video of three guys in a fight who eventually got up and started battle dancing with each other. Yeah, that's what I heard. Right. Right. But I was saying, I saw those kids. They happened to be kids that the cops came over and tried to rouse, not rouse, but said they were kind of participating in the refus. And they actually were because it was coming from there. And it was crazy to me. I was like, these kids are young because clearly you must know that. smell goes all the way over there and the cops are just going to be drawn to you. But there was nothing going on. Then you get to Marta. Marta we heard on our Atlanta's morning news how Marta had 4.1 million trips. Martyr was on point. I took it every single time I went down there. I had to go to the airport a couple times. I had to take Marta for other reasons. They were on time. And every time I got on a Marta car, there was a security guy there, which was amazing because I stood right next to that guy. And so that's my point. Marta had 4.1 million trips. Nothing. Nothing happened. And so I'm thinking to myself, wait a minute, the whole city came together. Employees, hourly workers, salary workers, managers, bigwigs, everyone, the mayor, the mayor staff, everyone came together to put on this event, which the numbers are showing was one of the most well-attended FIFA host cities was Atlanta's, right? And nothing happened. And we have people that live here in Georgia who won't come inside the perimeter.

But this event went off without a hitch. And I think we are so quick to demonize the city. We're so quick to demonize Atlanta. We're so quick to talk badly of Atlanta and point out the bad things that happen. So I believe it's my job on this station to point out that for two and a half weeks, whatever time this FIFA World Cup went on. Three weeks. For three weeks, this city of Atlanta came together and rose up and showed the world why this is a great city. And I don't think anybody can take that away from us. city, in partnership with the state, in partnership with law enforcement, in partnership one of the great things that the mayor did. His office was temporary just for FIFA, but now they're going to keep it permanently is a nightlife ambassador program where people walking around in the bars and Edgewood and Peter Street and all these bar entertainment districts in Atlanta kind of helping people. People wanting to know how to get an Uber, how to get to the martyr station, all of this stuff. But they also, more importantly than all of that, there are another set of eyes for law enforcement. They're not law enforcement, but there are another set of eyes. Hey, we see a couple guys hanging out over here to look like they're about to fight. They're getting loud. Whatever. Just another set of eyes. And I think the city should be applauded for that. in the state and everybody. Bill alluded to it. That's why I wanted to bring it up. But I went down there this past Wednesday, and I saw a city that is ready to do many more big events. But I also saw a city that's very well prepared to do big events, and it's why they keep coming. That's why they keep picking us. And I want everyone to remember, yes, the state of Georgia, they had their part to play in getting FIFA World Cup here in these final weeks. for these last three weeks, but also the city of Atlanta was center in that pitch. City of Atlanta officials were center in that pitch. Not the Dickens camp. administration, but I think it was Scott Bottoms administration who was at the center of that pitch. And they should get credit for winning that bid. And then the Dickens campaign or the Dickens administration should get a lot of credit for carrying it out. And everyone, martyr, police, law enforcement Atlanta PD, the state troopers that were there, everybody. It was just a really, really, really great event. And for those of you who like to bash... the city of Atlanta, please make a post about how great things ran because you're constantly bashing City of Atlanta. You need to make a post and say, wow, that's good. They did well. Also, the bends itself. Like, everybody that I talked to that was visiting that went to a match there talked about what a great stadium it is. They liked how well it was run.

Something as simple as having the Muslim prayer spaces, like people were blown away that that was available readily the way it was in the bends, the fact that food was really cheap and it was really easy to navigate. And not every stadium is like that. And I know that they... built that stadium knowing we want these huge events. Right. So, yeah, the Ben's did, and I know we say Atlanta Stadium, but you know what I mean? They did a really good job as well. And it goes everywhere. You know, I parked at the hotel across the street from the park. That was, you know, that was easy and seamless. Was it a little pricey? Of course it was, but I was across the street from the event. So of course I'm going to pay a lot of money. Vinny, you went down there. Take a couple seconds just to tell us your experience. I had a great time. Me, I had a lot of friends with me. I haven't been sent to a long time. And you're not even really a big soccer fan yourself. And I was going to say, I'm very grateful for Atlanta getting FIFA here because, I mean, I got friends. I have diverse friends, Mexicans, you know, and. I went to a watch party, had a great time. So I think it was good for the city. Great for the city. Great for the city. And I hope we'll continue to get big events. But I just wanted to give that message to those who like to bash the city. Give them, you know, give credit where it's due when it's due. And I think it's due to give, Atlanta's due for credit for their handling and their organization. and they're managing of this huge, huge worldwide. Let me say that again, worldwide event. So I got off the air last night at 11 p.m. Got home. realized later on in the evening that I'd be filling in this morning. And I couldn't sleep because I was afraid of oversleeping, so I really couldn't sleep. So I went in, I dove in, and I pulled up concussion on Netflix, the great Will Smith movie about CTE and the doctor who worked on the football players and came up with CTE and found it. He was a pathologist in Pittsburgh. Great movie. As I was watching this movie, I thought to myself, wow, I remember Aaron Brockovich. where it was a young woman who found out that people were being poisoned and she fought against these corporations. Then I remember, thank you for not smoking about the tobacco industry that went before Congress and lied through their teeth about how cigarettes were not dangerous. And then I remember the movie Pain killers where the corporations, the Sackler family, lied through their teeth about opioids not being addictive. And all of this, the NFL and concussions fighting this doctor trying to destroy his life because they didn't want to admit that

they knew that concussions were detrimental to football players because they wanted to keep the money rolling. In every single case, they wanted to keep the money rolling. And they were willing to destroy individual lives just to keep the money rolling. And as I'm watching concussion and I'm remembering all these other movies of the solo hero. trying to fight against David against Goliath. I thought about today's times. And I thought about all the people telling us how great data centers are going to be. And I thought about the data center owners being the NFL. I thought about the data center owners being big tobacco. I thought about the data center owners being the Sackler family. I thought about the data centers being every Goliath. The only difference between then and now is that now the David's are millions of people. And you can't tell millions of people that they're simply being fooled by China. Millions of people have gone through Aaron Brockowitz, thank you for not smoking, painkillers, concussion, and many other movies about David Verthus Goliath. And what they're recognizing is they're hearing the same talking points from the pro data center crowds that they've heard before. And they're also hearing from the AI data center companies that jobs are going to be taken away. And people are starting to fight back. I'm all for it. I'm all for it.
